The Hero Arrives (Rewritten)

Link heard the wolfos howl behind him meaning that he was still being chased by the wolf like monsters. Link took a quick look behind him to see that they were coming up behind him and fast. From what Link could see there were about 8 of them. Usually he can make quick work of these beasts. The problem was that Link has been travelling two days without food or rest even the great hero of time deprived of food and sleep become almost unable to fight.

Soon Link felt something heavy hit his back. A wolfos had managed to pounce onto his back. He felt the wolfos very sharp claws digging into his back . Link spotted the nearest tree that he could use and ran towards it. with his momentum link turned and jump backwards and slammed his back onto the wolfos making it let go.

That lead to a big problem the wolfos had managed to surrounded link. the wolfos Link slammed against the tree shook off his dizziness and rejoined his pack. Link started at the 8 pair of green eyes of these wolf like creatures all ready to fight for there meal. Link knew he had to fight but it was going to be tough and he could pass out at any minute. He needed to make this fight quick or else he'll be these beasts their next meal.

Link pulled out his gilded sword and mirror shield and took his battle stance. Just from puling his sword and shield tired his already weak arms and felt his legs shaking from fatigue. One wolfos came at link trying to swipe at him with it's two sharp claws but Link immediately step back to dodge the attack. Link slashed his blade horizontally cutting the wolf making it step back. Link was about to finish it off but another wolfos tried jumping at him. Link saw this and he quickly raised his shield making it hit it head first into the glass shield without even damaging it. Link raised his sword and quickly slashed it's head cutting it into his head until he slashed all the way through splitting it's head. Thanks to the power of the triforce it was soon engulfed in flames and disappeared. Link was to distracted to notice another wolfos came up and slashed at his right side. Luckily it didn't cut in too deep so it didn't hurt him too much. Link then quickly slashed at the wolfos that got cutting the top half of it's head off. Link then turned to his left to see another wolfos pounced and was about to land on him. Link reacted fast and managed to stop it by stabbing it through the bottom of it's jaw till the tip of his blade came out the top thus killing and engulfing it in flames. Link turned back to the remaining wolfos. He was surprised that the wolfos were so persistent to catch something that just killed 3 of it's members normally they would have run off by now. The remaining wolfos had began started circling him but this action had caused Link to grin. This was just perfect to end this fight. Link held his blade behind him getting ready to use his signature move the spin attack. Link then started pouring in his magic to charge it to make it more powerful and have longer range. Link had charged his blade to the max which was evident by the sword glowing orange but this had strained Link too much which caused pain to travel across his whole arm. Link dropped his sword from the pain which canceled his attack. Link was breathing very heavily from using too much magic and energy he should have released it sooner. Then Link's legs gave out leaving him on his knees.

Seeing their chance two of the wolfos pounced onto Link leaving him flat on his stomach. Link tried to get them off but he was too weak to move his arms and legs. Soon the two wolfos slashed at Link's back making a big x mark onto his back and ripping his tunic. Link screamed out in pain from the cut but he still tried to reach for his item pouch hoping to get nayru's love from there but the wolfos began to bite onto his arms. With a sudden adrenaline boost link had managed to raised his arms and swung them hard enough to launch the three wolfos that were on his arms off. The rush didn't last long until link fell down again. his eyes had began to succumb to darkness he knew that this was the end for him. So link finally closed his eyes accepting his fate. He hoped he would die to some huge monster but it seems his fate was lost to a bunch of wolfs.

The swordsman Link was a tough hunt for the wolfos and to lose three members of their pack for this one meal made it seem like it wasn't worth it to them. Though they did manage to take him down and now they can enjoy their victory meal and with all the meat on his bones this would be a very good meal for them.

The wolfos were about to bite into their prey when they heard the sound of rustling grass behind them. The wolfos pack turned around to see another man walking up to them. Even though he didn't have much meat on his bones more food for them was all the more better.

The wolfos licked their mouths seeing another easy prey right in front of them. The pack of five started walking up to the man ready to pounce. When they were neared him however they all began to feel a sense of dread inside all of them.

The pack was ready to kill this man and eat his corpse along with Link's. Yet they couldn't for some reason the wolfos couldn't attack him like a force preventing them. The wolfos were trembling from the mere presence of the man and they felt that he could do something worse than whatever link or any other adventurer could do. Not wanting to chance what possible pain that he could cause them they ran off leaving behind the near dead Link.

The man slowly walked up to link and started down at his body. His smile never leaving his face. He reached inside his backpack and pulled out a bottle filled with a blue liquid. He opened up link's mouth and poured it down Link mouth making sure he drank the whole thing. Soon almost all of Link's injuries soon start to fade except the one on his back no healing magic with remove that scar. The man continued to look down at Link seeing him start breathing normally.

"You've meet with a terrible fate haven't you." he said in a very calm voice keeping his very large smile.

Link looked around the area he stood in it was a very strange place. Link looked down to see that he was standing on water and the sky had some clouds and the sun was out. Link wondered where he was and how he got there. He then remembered that the wolfos had managed to over power him. "

So is this the afterlife." Link thought to himself

All of a sudden there was a flash of light next to him that made him cover his eyes. Link turned to where the flash came from and saw a woman standing that wasn't there before standing near by. She had long green hair that went all the way toward her knees and she was wearing a long flowing green dress with a symbol at the center of her dress. It looked like a circle with two crescent moon shapes on the right.

She smiled at Link and started walking towards him. When she stopped a foot away from him. Link stood still wondering who this woman was and why he had a sense of familiarity like he knew her. Suddenly she had grabbed Link's left hand and put her right right hand over it. Link wondered what was going on but soon saw both his and her were glowing a golden color. When it stopped Link could have sworn he heard the sound of something being unlocked.

Soon Link had began seeing visions. Link saw pictures of himself but at the same time they weren't him. The age was different from his current age and even though it looked like he was wearing his iconic green tunic it looked much different. All of a sudden memories had started pouring into his head. Memories of things he had never done before or places he had never seen in his life had began being filed into his mind. Link saw a image of a town high above the clouds, him running through a forest with a massive tree at the center, a mountain with lava around every corner and a massive dessert with strange crystals that somehow shifted time. Throughout all of these Images of himself running through these places he has never been to and to him fighting monsters he had never encountered and monsters he did encounter but were much different then the ones he fought and how he had fought them.

What Link saw must have been the strangest vision to appear inside his mind. Link saw that he was staring at his reflection in a lake and that's when something appeared next to him. He saw a small red horse with wings and a dark blonde mane and tail came up and look at his own reflection. Link was wondering why he was seeing this until he noticed the triforce with a harp in the center located on the rear side. Just What was going on here why are these images appearing and how can that be me him and how could he have been a small horse if he had never done any of these things or visited any of those places or fought those monsters or even transform into a small horse. All of a sudden his head started hurting immensely the pain was unbearable to link. The last vision he saw was of a strange man with white hair and a red cape holding a black sword.

The visions had stopped coming to link and the pain in his head had gone away. Link looked up to see the woman with a worried look on her face. Link started down at his triforce of courage and saw it disappear from his hand. Link looked back at the woman and saw her release a sigh of relief and soon she began smiling again. Then her right hand had started glowing again. She reached up and touched Link's head which had soon started to make him very tired. Link's eyes began to close but he heard one last thing before he went back to sleep.

"Hero of time I wish you good luck on your next journey. Just know I will watch over you as you learn to control your new abilities." Link heard the woman say before he went to sleep

Link woke up to the sound to the sound of a organ being played which is strange because he should have died from the wolfos. Link opened his eyes to see his surroundings. Link looked at himself his tunic was off and his chest and arms were covered in bandages. This means that someone must have saved him. Link looked over to where he heard the organ playing and saw something a little surprising . Even though he was still in a deep part of the woods I saw that a organ was out in the open. Link seriously wondered how anyone could just bring a whole organ out into the woods and for what reason.

Link saw a man sitting in front of the organ still playing the song. He had orange hair and wore a long purple tunic, next to his seat was a big backpack with some masks out on display. He must be a mask salesman. Link thought to himself and he didn't know why but he has a strange feeling that he had met him once before.

Suddenly the man stopped playing. "Listen to this song for it shall help you ease the pain of others." He spoke to Link without turning his head he then place his hands back on the keyboard and played six notes slowly.

Understanding what he had to do Link pulled out his ocarina and played the few notes he had heard.

Soon those 6 notes had began to form into a song.

The song had made feel Link relaxed and it eased all the pain Link had felt from the wolfos. It eased the pain of not seeing his friends for so long and knowing that he was alone. The sages had to stay behind to make sure that Ganondorf never escaped. Malon had left her father's farm to travel to her cousin Romani's ranch help her and her sister with the livestock. Knowing his Kokiri friends wouldn't recognize him after he grew up and they would one day out live him. He couldn't see Zelda since she had many duties to attend to as princess and she couldn't make time form. He was all alone, so he hoped to find navi just so link wouldn't have to live his life alone without a friend to be there for him to help him whenever he had trouble or just someone to talk to. This song had eased all the pain he had felt these past ten years. He then stopped playing

The strange man then stopped playing his organ as well and got up from his seat and pressed a button on the organ which to Link's surprise made it fold up till it was smaller. He then placed both the folded up organ and chair in his backpack and put it on his back from the looks of it, it must have been very heavy. So either this man was very strong or all the items he had in there were very light. The man then turned towards Link's direction and started walking toward him. He simply started at Link with his eyes which were barely open and the smile he was giving Link was a bit creepy. When he finally reached Link he then reached inside his bag and pulled out a mask. It, for some strange reason, looked a lot like Link but it had white hair and a white cap and had red markings under the eyes and a blue marking on it's forehead.

"Take this mask," The mask salesman started. "The power within this mask is unmatched throughout this world, use it for only as a last resort." He then placed the mask on the palm of his right hand.

Link stared at the mask wondering why the man had even gave it to him. Link was about to ask who he was and why he is giving it to him but when he looked up he was gone.

Link looked around hoping to see where he went but couldn't find any sign that he left. He shrugged it off knowing he had met a lot of weird people and other things during his travels and this was not the weirdest he encountered. Though he was up there.

Link placed the mask inside his item pouch with all of his other items and sat down to finally relax. Luckily the mask salesman camped near a river and left a fire here so at least he can have something to cook when he catches some fish to eat.

(8 hours later)

After finally getting some rest and food Link continued his trek through the forest. He heard that many fairies lived here and he had hoped to find Navi here to see if she had began living here.

Link soon reached his location and was astonished by the sight. There were groups upon groups of fairies, all of different color and each had their own spring. Link walked through the springs and began to call out his friend's name hoping that she would hear him. Link went from one spring to another hoping to find her here but all he found where normal fairies, some were even the healing kind but at the moment they were useless and a waste to him. Soon Link's search came to a end at the last spring. He had checked each and everyone and not one of them held his friend.

Link fell to his knees and started to punch the ground with this fist. He had spent 10 long years searching for his friend 10 years of travelling the world and all its lands just to find her but found nothing. Any and all of his leads on her had always ended in dead ends. Soon a tear fell from his face and touched down into the spring. Deciding that now was a good moment to play the song he pulled out his ocarina and began playing, as the song played many of the fairies had started circling Link. Soon every fairy from every spring had began circling Link the colors of each of them had made a giant rainbow. When Link finished playing he saw the fairies were still circling him but thought they were just dancing to the music. Link got up and was about to leave when the area had suddenly gotten brighter.

Link looked up and was surprised to see a giant ball of light had appeared and was growing. Link then realized something, he was being pulled into it. The bright light had been sucking leaves and Links hat almost flew off before he grabbed it and held on to it. Link tried to go past the wall of faries but a barrier was blocking him from escaping. Link tried to grab on to something, anything, but there was nothing he could grab and even if he could his hands were wet from the spring water so he couldn't get a good grip on anything even if he tried. He couldn't put on his iron boots if he even did try by the time he puts them he'll already be sucked in. Link quickly pulled out his sword and stabbed it into the ground giving him something to grab on. The light however began to suck in everything a lot stronger and Link saw that his sword was starting to come out of the ground. Link desperately hoped that it wouldn't pull out but he knew that wasn't going to happen. That's when Link's sword detached from the ground and the portal soon pulled Link into it. Soon the fairies had stopped spinning and a few fell from using too much of their magic. The light then disappeared leaving no trace of it or Link anywhere.

From afar was floating a single blue fairy. It had watched the whole scene since it was the one who planned it out. She then began shedding tears. "The deed is done my goddesses just please watch over Link for me." She said before parts of her had began to disappear and soon she was gone letting one last tear fall on the spot where Link used to be.

Celestia was suddenly woken up from her slumber. She had risen from her bed and looked out her window. "That was strange, what was that huge magical spike just now?" She asked herself.

Princess Celestia knew that a lot of young unicorn foals would have magical spikes some times in their life but they usually represent a unicorn with powerful magic, but those were few and far apart, but this was not of unicorn magic it felt a lot different, something else was the cause of it and she was not sure what the source was.

"I should send somepony to investigate perhaps one of the guards stationed in the north. I just hope whatever that was it's not dangerous."

Celestia sighed and returned to bed, she still had duties to perform tomorrow and if her predictions were correct the empire would be returning soon.

When Link woke up his head was in a lot of pain for some reason. "Please don't tell me I drank a whole barrel again I really need to lay off the drinking." Soon a cold wind blew past Link and caused him to shiver. He tried reaching for the blanket but only felt snow. Link opened his eyes to see that he was outside in a blizzard.

Link sat up straight and looked at his surroundings, he was in a frozen wasteland. Somehow he had gotten sent from a forest to A wasteland of snow and freezing winds. Link saw his sword and grabbed it and placed it back in it's scabbard.

'How did I get here.' Link thought to himself. "The last thing I remember was arriving at the home of the fairies to look for Navi I couldn't find her and then." That's when Link figured it out.

'That's it the fairies sent me here... but why?' Link thought to himself. He tried to figure out an answer. "Fairies never do anything without a good purpose but what reason did they have for bringing me here."

Link kept trying to figure out an answer until he saw something under the snow. Link being cautious as ever drew his sword, he then slowly rose to his feet and walked toward the lump of snow. Once Link approached it he removed the snow and soon saw what it was. Underneath the snow was a small horse creature.

Link realizing what was under the snow sheathed his sword and began digging out the horse. Link then realized how small it was heck it was smaller than Epona when he first met her. Link then remembered Malon telling him about the smaller horses called ponies apparently they were like horses but they were smaller and didn't grow to be as large. Link then noticed it coat instead of the normal colors like brown white or black this one was a dark green color and what was more unusual was on its back was a pair of wings.

Link stared at the horse and placed his right hand on it. Link then realized that it wasn't breathing anymore meaning that it was dead. Link then felt something wet on his right hand he brought his hand up and saw there was blood on it. Link traced back to where his hand was and saw a large stab mark on the side of it's body.

"What happened to you?" Link said as he inspected the body. Link then saw there were more lumps of snow on the ground. Placing the pony body down Link went to each lump thinking he might find a actual person. Link dug up each and every lump but each held only held identical looking ponies with armor on. Link wondered what a bunch of ponies were doing in a harsh climate like this. Link then saw something above the green pony he first found was a shadow. Link recognizing what the shadow meant began to focus his magic into his eyes this. Soon his eyes turned a purple color and signified he was using his sight of truth a new skill which had the same ability of the lenses of truth but no longer required him to use the lens themselves.

What Link was expecting to find was a human soul not the pony he found. Link started up at the pony and saw that the bottom half of its torso was gone and replaced by a ghostly tail. Link must have been staring for a long time because the ghost had a surprised look on his face.

"Wait you can see me?" The pony said in a surprised tone. "How I thought I was dead, I mean that is my body right." He then began inspecting both his ghostly body and dead body.

Link started wide eyed at the pony who just spoke and only wondered how it was possible for the pony to even be talking. Link shook his head and decided to figure out what happened here.

"Yes I can see you." Link began. "And yes you are dead I just have something that lets me see the dead. Link told the ghost pony still weird out that he was even talking to one."

"Oh really well this sucks." The ghost pony said crossing his forelegs and looking a bit crestfallen. "Well what are you anyways some kind of hairless monkey with really weird and sharp ears?"

Link got annoyed with the ear comment but he kept calm and answered the pony. "Something like that I guess. Just what happened here with all these dead bodies?"

The Pegasus sighed and looked at each of the dead ponies on the ground. "My team and I were on a scouting mission for princess Celestia, we were stationed here in the north waiting for something, I don't know what, to appear. We then got a scroll saying there was something that suddenly appeared out here and that we were to go investigate and find out what it was. This is where we were told where that source came from. We didn't have a chance to investigate when we were ambushed by a shadow with eyes. That shadow killed my whole team I was the last one left, I tried to fly away but I wasn't quick enough, it got me to."

The pony sighed and looked down at the ground. "I just wish there was someway I could have helped. Hey do you have anything that can heal me do you? If not do you have something that can help me pass on for some reason i'm stuck here."

Link knew that it was too late for him to use the one fairy he had on him. Link then thought of an idea that could do either of those two and that's when he thought of a idea. Link pulled out his ocarina and put it to his mouth.

'Third time I played it today but so far its all I can think of at the moment.' Link thought to himself

Link then began playing his ocarina. The pony wondered what the heck Link was doing but as he continued to play the song he soon closed his eyes and felt all his pain go away. When the song ended Link looked at the ghost and saw that he was glowing a gold color.

"What a nice song, it made me actually pretty happy." He said while his bottom had began disappearing in gold sparkles. "I feel ready to go now, thank you for playing that for me." Then his middle section was gone leaving his upper body. "I just hope somepony is able to stop that Shadow from taking anymore lives." As soon as he said that his whole body was gone the gold sparkles then began gathering together forming a giant ball.

Link stared at the ball in amazement and wondered why it was formed. Suddenly the ball launched toward Link hitting his stomach and knocking him on his back and disappearing inside of him. Link felt his stomach hurt until something happened. His body had began feeling pain everywhere and it was pure torture. Link has never in all his life felt this much pain in his entire body.

He felt his whole body shifted, bones changing in every part of his body either becoming smaller or entirely different. The worst pain he felt was when something began growing out of his back. He felt two different parts of his back split open and shot out two appendages. Before it was all over he let out a scream of pure agony. That echoed across the snow filled area.

When it was over Link was breathing very hard. He still felt pain throughout his body. Link slowly got up on his hooves and stretched each leg. He then checked if he had lost anything. His tunic was still intact, his mirror shield was on his right foreleg, his gilded sword still strapped to his left side of his chest, his item pouch was on the other side and his golden gauntlets were still on his front hooves. Link sighed in relief glad he had not lost anything. Link was about to take his first step till he realized something.

"Wait hooves?" Link said to himself." Slowly Link raised his right arm were it was suppose to end in a hand with his gold gauntlet but when instead was a bare dark brown hoof. Link did the same with his other arm, the results were the same. He then looked at his legs instead of feet ended in hooves and that's when he noticed the blonde colored tail. Link did the only smart thing anyone could do in this sort of situation....... scream, and started freaking out.

After his little moment Link decided to try and figure out what happened. 'Okay why am I a pony now. Why did today have to be so horrible running from wolfos while starving, getting transported to a frozen wasteland, feeling terrible pain after helping a pony go to rest, turning into one, not finding my best friend.' Link thought to himself, after the last one link felt tears come to his eyes but wiped them off.

"Now isn't the time I have to figure out where I am and how to turn back to normal because this is not funny." Link said to himself. Link shakily got up on his four hooves trying to adapt at having four legs instead of two. Link surveyed the area around him seeing nothing but snow. "Great stuck in a snowstorm, in a place I have no idea about. Link sighed and shook his head. Might as well find someplace to rest and figure out what happened."

Link very slowly began to walk on his hooves but it was much harder then it looked. Link spent the first ten minutes learning how to walk on hoof and he soon began walking at a slow pace no longer face planting on the ground. Link nodded to himself and slowly began to walk in a random direction but soon felt something off. He looked at himself and saw that his whole body was glowing gold and was getting even more brighter. Link panicked wondering what was going on but he didn't have a chance to react when his body glowed the brightest and just like that he was gone.

New World, New Empire To Save

Link soon opened his eyes and was surprised to find where he was now. Fifty feet in the air above what looked like a garden. Link then felt gravity start pulling him down. Link screamed as was plummeting towards the ground. He was falling fast and he had no way of saving himself the only thing he could do was wait for the incoming pain.

*Crash*

Link groaned in pain as he felt his entire body in pain while this may not have been the first time hes fallen from a high place but they were all painful. Link groggily got up on his hooves and trying to ignore the pain he felt in his entire body mostly his legs. Link saw that he was in a garden with a bunch of strange statues of ponies. Link saw that the garden was connected to a large castle. Wherever Link was he knew he shouldn't be here. He may have sneaked into Hyrule castle and other castles during his journey but each time was for a good reason. Link decided he should get out of here before anyone can find him.

Link walked through the garden looking at many of the statues as he looked for the exit one of them made Link stop in his tracks and looked at it for awhile. It was a long snake like creature and for its arm and legs it had a different body part from a animal it also looked like it was afraid. Link decided he didn't need to worry about it so he continued to walk but didn't get far when his head started hurting. Link put one hoof on his head and massaged to try and ease the pain. Link then for a brief moment saw a image pop up in his head. It was of the same creature from the statue and a red pony. As soon as the image came it was gone and Links headache went away.

'What the heck was that?' Link thought to himself as the pain from his head eased away. 'That image it showed me the statue but it didn't look like a statue it looked like he was alive. Link stared at the statue looking for any signs of life. Maybe I just hallucinated that, probably best that I forget it.' Link shook his head and continued looking for the exit.

Link soon found a large doorway leading inside the castle he sighed it seems he had to go through the castle to find the exit out he just hoped they wouldn't throw him in a cell if they found him. Link walked through the castle looking at the interior. Link had to admit this castle looked better than any castle he has ever seen and he had seen many castles both inhabited and abandoned. As Link walked through the castle he soon began to hear voices nearby. Normally Link would have normally ignored it but for some reason he had a urge to go towards it.

Link arrived at a large doorway and heard the voices from before but louder and he soon listened in on what they were saying. "One-thousand years ago King Sombra a Unicorn whos heart was black as night took over the Crystal Empire." Link looked in the room and saw two ponies inside a lavender one and a large white one but what had his attention was the the image of a Unicorn. He had no idea why but that unicorn reminded him Of Ganondorf. Soon the image changed showing the Unicorn looking down at a large line of ponies all chained up in shackles the mere sight of enslaved ponies made Link angry.

He was ultimately overthrown and banished into the ice of the arctic north. Link continued to listen in on the conversation. But not before he place a curse on the Crystal Empire. A curse that caused it to vanish into thin air but as I have told you it has returned. If the empire is filled with hope and love. those things are reflected across all of Equestria, If hatred and fear take hold. Link then saw that the large pony eyes change to a different color and something shot out of here horn into the crystal. Link then saw the crystals' shadow spread across the floor and black crystals grew from the ground but soon were destroyed. Link didn't like the sound of what would happen if this Sombra took control of the Empire. He needed to do something to help prevent this from happening. Link turned around and was about to walk away until he heard someone clear their throat.

Link froze in place and slowly turn his head around to see a another pony with a blue coat and a mane that reminded Link of the stars he also saw that she wasn't looking to happy to see him. Link felt sweat fall down his face as he started at the large pony and only thought went through his mind.

Run.Link then started running away but then learned another problem about his new body he still didn't know how to run on four hooves this caused him to fall down. Link then felt like his body was grabbed by something and he felt like he was being pulled up off the ground. Link then was looking into the eyes of the large pony.

Link began thinking of a way to get out of here but knew it would be hopeless. He just hoped they would go easy on him.

Who do thou think thou are sneaking into Canterlot castle and listening in on a private conversation between my sister and her student. She boomed in a loud voice which were torture to Links sensitive Hylian ears. Does thou have a explanation for thy self.

What? Link yelled as he tried to get the ringing out of his ears. "I can't hear what you're saying."

Link saw that the pony blushed and soon felt the ringing in his ears go away. "We are sorry for that we did not mean to cause thy pain in you're ears while the Royal Canterlot Voice is loud we did not expect it to cause thou pain. She said before becoming serious again. "So explain thy reasons for being in the castle, we know that thou are not one of our servants or guards."

Link gulped he knew she wouldn't believe that he just appeared out of nowhere and fell from the sky. Link sighed and looked straight into the ponys eyes. "I think it would be best that I stayed in a cell for breaking and entering."

The pony was surprised to hear what Link said apparently she didn't expect him to admit to breaking into the castle and want to be in a cell for it. Um very well then thou shall be placed in a cell until further notice what is thy name criminal. the pony then noticed Link sword strapped to his side. I see that thou are also carrying a weapon. So tell us were thou planning to murder somepony.

"One, my name is Link, two this sword is for protection not murder." Link answered her questions. "Can I ask for your name."

Thou does not know of your own princess. She asked but all she got was a blank stare. Thou shall call us Princess Luna now we will take you to thy cell. Luna horn then began to glow brighter. Link looked back inside the room and saw that the two ponies from before were looking at both of them. Suddenly the area changed and Link saw that he was now staring at a cell. The door opened up and Link was placed in and felt his sword being taken away.

We will speak with our sister in deciding thou punishment. She then walked away his sword in her grasp. Link waited till he heard a large door close then he reached for his item pouch.

"And this is the part where the guards were suppose to make sure they took everything." Link said as he pulled out Farores wind. Link then disappeared and reappeared outside of the cell. Link placed his magic gem back in his item pouch and went in the direction Luna left. Link soon reached a steel door and opened it showing a small room with a desk and cabinets and a staircase going up. Link saw that his sword was on the desk and went to pick it up.

Seriously every castle I sneak into barely have any guards guarding the place. Link then proceeded to climb up the stairs and began thinking what to do next.

"So from what i'm guessing this Sombra is out to take control of the crystal empire and spread fear across this what was it called Equestria. Well they might need some help in defeating him. They said they sealed him in the arctic north so my best lead is to head there but how." Before Link could have more time to think he felt a familiar sensation over his body. Link looked down and saw that his body was glowing gold again.

Link felt a drop of sweat roll down his face. Not agai-. Link didn't get a chance to finish when he was teleported again.

Link opened his eyes and saw that he wasn't high above in the sky but on a comfortable bed. Link sighed this was probably the one good thing he had going for him this entire day. Link looked around wondering where he was this time. He then saw a window near the bed Link got up and made his way and looked out. The sight was astonishing to Link he saw as the land before him was moving by at fast speeds and changing every second. Link opened the window and brought his head out to see that he was on a strange contraption and that it was moving fast. Link closed his eyes as he felt the wind hit his face it felt nice. Link brought his head back in and saw that no one else was in the room with him even though there were multiple beds. Link wondered where this thing was taking him.

Link pulled out his world compass and looked at it to see that it was currently pointing towards north.

'Perfect this thing is going north I just hope this Crystal Empire isn't too hard to find.' Link thought as he looked at the moving scenery. Jumping on the bed Link placed his hat over his eyes and dozed off until he reached his destination wherever it might be.

Link woke up to the sound of something making a loud screeching sound . Link sat up on his bed and looked out the window and saw the large blizzard just outside. Link realized he must have reached his destination. Link opened the window and jumped out and landed on the platform. Link surveyed the area and saw a group of ponies walking through the blizzard, he immediately began to follow them. Link kept his distance from the group as to not be seen.

As Link followed the group he saw they were speaking about something but he couldn't really tell what they were saying. Link then heard the sounds of roaring in the distance that caused both him and the group to stop in their tracks. Link gripped his sword and surveyed the area looking for the source of the roar. Link then sensed something behind him, he turned his head and what he saw was a massive shadow with eyes looming over him.

Link stared at the shadow and steeled himself for the fight against it.

Shadow Rises (Re Written)

Link took a quick look behind him and saw that the group of ponies had made a run from it, this was good no one would get hurt from the fight he would be having with this shadow. Link then focused his attention back at the shadow and saw that its eyes had a look of amusement almost as if it didn't think Link was a threat.

Oh how wrong it was. Link pulled out his bow and a arrow and charged it with light magic and fired it directly at the shadow. The shadow didn't even have a chance to dodge the oncoming attack as the arrow flew at him and struck his chest. The shadow screeched in pain from the attack.

Twilight and the others were currently making their way toward the Crystal empire but something felt off. Twilight took a quick look behind her and she stopped running.

Shining Armor noticed his sister wasn't running and wasn's running and wondered what gotten into her.

"Twilight we need to get to the empire right now or Sombra will capture us." He shouted at his sister through the heavy blizzard.

"That's the thing where is King Sombra." She said as she continued looking forward seeing the shadow was not following him. "Didn't we see him appear behind us so why isn't he chasing us."

Before Twilight had a chance to answer she heard a loud screech that echoed across the frozen wasteland. The sound caused her to shiver in fear.

"Come on Twilight lets get to the empire while we still have a chance." Shining Armor said and continued.

Twilight nodded and turned around and started to follow her brother but took one last look behind her to see a bright light.

Link looked toward the giant shadow looming over him. He didn't know how he was holding his bow but right now he didn't care. He hardened his glare at the shadow. That's when he saw the shadow was opening up to show the head of a pony with a curved red horn in the center and what looked like a shadowy mane on it.

Sombra glared at the stallion in front of him. Somehow he managed to inflict damage to him while he was in his shadow form and even forced his out from the shadows, no unicorn magic no matter how powerful could penetrate him when he was like this. Unless it were the alicorn magic, or the crystal heart that could dispel the form or damage him during it nothing could hurt him or any type of magic used would fail against him. He should have been invincible against this stallions attacks but somehow this stallion shot something though weaker than alicorn magic still manged to hit him and even injure him. Sombra had to get rid of him before he could do anymore damage or he may be a major thorn in his side later.

Link noticed that the shadow pony was about to lunge at him so he got another arrow and charged it with light magic. As soon as the shadow pony lunged at him. Link shot the arrow but the shadow saw it coming and dodged it. Before the shadow pony could reach Link, he rolled to the side and fired another arrow at the head but it went straight through him. Link was surprised that the arrow shot through him, shouldn't his head have been solid. Link was about to fire another arrow but didn't notice the shadow under him that suddenly formed into a solid black crystal and hit Link in his chin sending him flying and making him drop his bow.

Link managed to regain himself in mid air and landed on his hooves. Link brought his eyes back to the shadow pony and saw that it split it self into six copies of itself. They soon started circling, Link, looking at each one, tried to find, the difference between the real shadow and fake. Link couldn't find anything so he began charging his right fore which ignited a small flame in the center. He spun both his fore hoof back in a circle motion and brought his right fore hoof down. The shadow pony was about to attack Link with all of his copies but before he could, a flame surrounded link and expanded hitting all the shadows and melting some of the snow showing patches of grass. The shadows merged back into one and now sported some burn spots around it.

The shadow pony, angered, soon began growing sharp black crystals in the ground they soon went under Links feet. Seeing what was happening Link back flipped, when he landed he spun around and began running from the crystals. They were relentless Link had to roll, side step, or jump over the growing crystals. Link was too focused on dodging the growing crystals that he didn't notice part of the shadow pony was going straight for him. Link jumped over another growing crystals but he didn't land back on the ground. Link then saw the problem, the shadow had gotten hold of him. Link tried to break out but couldn't, soon the shadow raised link high above the air and slammed him down on the ground. The shadow pony repeated this several time before he bashed Link's body against the sharp crystals that he grew. Link felt the sharp crystals cut his skin but he didn't given into the pain.

Using all his strength he broke out of the grip but the problem was he was 30 feet in the air. Link quickly pulled out his sword with his mouth the blade facing the left side. He then started skydiving toward the shadow pony aiming for his head. He then began charging his sword with magic it glowed a blue color then when it was fully charged he aimed to finish this fight. Once Link was the right distance away he released the magic in one powerful slash. He felt his sword connect with something and slashed downward. Link landed on his hooves though he felt a small crack in his right hind leg. Link ignored the pain and looked up to hoping to see the shadow pony with a deep cut in his neck Link however saw that he missed. Instead of a huge cut across it's throat there was a single slash mark going from the top of his forehead, past his right eye, and down to his chin.

Sombra looked at the pony who managed to cause so much damage in his shadow form. He had burnt and caused a large slash mark over the right side of his face, blood had even started to come out. Realizing what this stallion was capable of, he decided to withdraw for now he needed to regain his strength. He took one last look at the pony in front of him and even though he had made him waste time fighting him and now magic to heal himself he was very impressed at what he has managed so far.

"I must say I am glad that over a thousand years there are still worthy opponents for me to face." Sombra began in a tone that reminded Link of Ganondorf. "Tell me young stallion what is your name."

Link glared at the shadow who had a smile on his face. Link then turned his head and stabbed his sword into the ground and kept the glare. "My name is Link." Link replied to the shadow. "What about you, just who exactly are you, and what do you want?" Linked asked the shadow

Sombra had laughed at link's courage, no pony had ever spoke to him in such a confident tone, it was amusing. " Link an interesting name for such a strange pony, very well then you shall address me as King Sombra ruler of the Crystal Empire and what I want is to reclaim the Empire that so rightfully belongs to me" Sombra replied to Link.

"I can't let that happen Sombra, from what I sense from you, you have a heart of pure evil and letting you into this empire will only cause everyone pain and misery!" Link yelled at Sombra.

Sombra was starting to get annoyed with Link. "Link I'll say this once." Sombra began. "No pony will stop me from taking back my kingdom and my slaves and if you try to get in my way again you will experience true pain." Sombra said before disappearing into the blizzard.

After Sombra had left Link sheathed his sword and went to retrieve his bow. Even though Link took a lot of damage in the fight he would quickly recover thanks to his healing ability he gotten from a great fairy just a quick rest and any minor injuries like cuts and some bone damage would heal up. Link then made his way towards the shield covering what Link learned was the empire. Link saw the shield was no longer a light blue color but lilac. Link went to tap his hoof against but was surprised it went right through. Link passed through the shield and finally saw what was on the other side. He was surprised, instead of snow it was a large grassy field and in front was two large crystal gates and a path leading to the empire.

Link followed the path until he finally reached the empire. He was amazed at the sight of the Empire it had really lived up to it's name. Everything was made of crystals, the houses, roads, even some statues he had saw.

Link saw that ponies were walking around but they all looked depressed.

'This must the after effects of being slaves to Sombra.' Link thought to himself as he stared at the ponies. 'Maybe once Sombra is dead they can live in peace.'

Link then heard something behind him, he quickly turned around and gripped his sword but saw nothing there. Link shook his head and turned back around only for his eye sight to be blocked by blue. This caused Link to scream over dramatically in surprise and caused him to fall on his back. Link looked up to see a pony hanging upside down in a black costume covering their whole body except the eyes and part of the face which showed to be a pink color.

"Um Hi." Link awkwardly waved at the pony whos eyes widened.

"My covers been blown." The pony yelled out before falling on the ground and running off. Link only stared in confusion at the pony that just ran off. Link shook his head and stood up.

"And here I thought this place would've have been normal." Link muttered to himself. "I still need to figure more about Sombra maybe there's a library here I could use."

Link continued to walk around the empire looking for a library of some kind, along the way Link saw even more depressed ponies walking around the empire some even having headaches. Link could only look at them with sympathy hoping he could find some way to help them.

As Link continued to walk through the empire he was then felt someone tap his shoulder. Link turned around and saw a purple Unicorn and dragon that was also purple next to her. Link remembered that this was the pony he saw at the castle but it seems she hasn't recognized him yet.

"Sorry for bothering you sir but we saw that you looked like the most normal crystal pony here and thought we could ask you some questions." She said but then her eyes widened. "Not that theirs anything wrong with any of them just they're all depressed and you're not so you know." She chuckled and smiled sheepishly.

"Really smooth there Twilight." The dragon said as he crossed his arms.

Link was surprised to say the least, did she really think he was one of these ponies. Well it was probably best to go with it right now.

Twilight glared at the dragon before looking back at Link. "Sorry we got on the wrong hoof lets start over. My name is Twilight Sparkle and this is my assistant Spike. She pointed toward the dragon who waved his hand at Link. Anyways we were going around the empire wondering if any of the ponies here remember what life was like before King Sombra took over. So I was wondering do you happen to know anything important do you." She asked with a hopeful smile.

Link looked blankly at her and shook his head no at her questions. He decided to go the silent route whenever he was being asked questions. This usually tricked others into thinking he was a mute, he just hoped it would work now like it has before.

"Are you sure you don't remember anything." She asked sounding a bit desperate. "We really need information on the empire so that we can protect it from Sombra."

You and me both Link said in his head. He once again shook his head no. He really didn't want to disappoint her but right now she could remember that he was suppose to be in a cell at the castle. If she remembered this could be problematic for Link.

"Come on Twilight I don't think he has anything I don't even think he's from here." Spike whispered to Twilight, while normally no one would hear what he was saying but with Links advance hylian hearing he could hear every word he was saying especially the next sentence. "I mean look at what he's wearing looks like a dress a girl would wear, heck he's even wearing ear rings."

If their was one thing hated it was anything about his tunic. Whenever someone made the comment about Links tunic being a girls dress he would get very angry. If it were someone young he would just glare at them, but if it was someone older and a male well they would be spending sometime with a cast. Since the dragon looked young he did the former.

Spike noticed Link glaring at him and started sweating nervously. "You didn't hear that did you." He asked nervously. Link only hardened his glare which scared spike even more.

"I think we'll be going now and i'm sorry for spikes behavior." Twilight said levitating the dragon on to her back. "And if you have any information please tell me or my friends." Soon both Twilight and spike left leaving Link alone. Link sighed and shook his head, he still needed to find any information that could help.

Soon enough after some exploring Link found the library. Link made his way inside and was surprised by how large it looked like on the inside. Link looked around not knowing where to start, he eventually decided to go to a random section and start from their. As Link approached one of the shelves he then realized something. None of these books were in Hylian which meant he couldn't find any information on this place. That's when Link heard the door open he turned towards it to see Twilight and Spike with a group of other ponies he didn't know.

Link grabbed a random book and sat at one of the tables. He was guessing Twilight and her group were also looking for information about the empire. Since he couldn't read it he decided they could do the reading for him. Link opened up to a random page and opened up his ears to listen on any information he could use.

A hour or so later the group was still looking and one with a rainbow colored mane took his book for a moment before giving it back to him. Link was annoyed that she didn't bother to ask but decided not to say anything. Link then heard Twilight shout "Yes" they must have found something. Link opened up his ears and listened very carefully. After they finished reading it the group left the library, Link closed the book he was fake reading and sighed. They may have found something to raise the ponies spirits but nothing on defeating Sombra.

Link decided he wasted enough time and left the library trying to figure out his next course of action. He soon saw something strange, there was a big empty lot between two houses. It looked like a rest area since there were two benches on the side of the housed but Link felt something off about. Link focused his magic and his eyes changed color again. Link suspicions were correct sitting in that empty space was a house like the others. Link decided this was something that he needed to investigate if it was hidden like this. Link approached the door of the area and tried opening but it was locked. Link decided that now wasn't the best time to look for a key so he began to slam into the door until it finally broke.

Link entered the dark room wondering whos house this was and why it was hidden. Link saw that the house had many notes scattered across the floor and walls. Whoever lived here must have been a scholar of some kind. Link knew that trying to read the notes wouldn't work out so well since he couldn't even read any of them. Link walked around the house and saw a large desk at the other end of the room. Link walked toward and saw only two things on this desk. One was a picture of a grey unicorn but it was ripped in half but Link could see a red hoof on his shoulder, the other thing was a page with a picture of a heart on top of the castle of the empire and was shining a bright light throughout it as the crystal ponies smiled on. Link sighed seeing nothing he could use. Link was about to leave till a gust of wind blew the paper off the desk.

Link was surprised to find more writing on the back of the page, what was even more surprising was that it was in Hylian. Link picked up the page and began reading it.

"I have successfully manage to steal the crystal heart from these crystal ponies. Without there precious heart the empire is powerless against my oncoming assault to take over the empire. I still need to hide the heart if it got enough positive energy it would surely defeat me if not kill me. I need to make sure the crystal fair is never to happen that would give the heart enough to do the job. I need to hide this heart and make sure nopony can ever find it . I know he will be coming for me once he deals with that draconequus. I will be prepared for him though he won't stand a chance against me with my new found powers even with that sword of his."

Link took a good look at the heart and saw that it looked it was made of a light blue crystal. Link took in the information finally finding what he needed. If he wanted to kill Sombra he needed the Crystal heart which needed to be filled with positive emotion from something called the crystal fair. Link suddenly heard a loud voice from the outside wondering what exactly was going on he made his way towards the door. Turning off his lens of truth ability, he looked out and saw that a bunch of the crystal ponies were walking toward the center of the empire. Link wondering what exactly was going on began to follow them.

Once they neared the center Link noticed that there were a lot of stands set up. Link knew exactly what this was. Someone must have set up the crystal fair, he just needed to find the crystal heart and Sombra won't stand a chance. Link grinned and decided to search in the castle. As Link neared the castle he saw a stand with a cover on it. Link getting a bit curious decided to see what exactly was under it. However Lin path was blocked by a orange pony.

"Sorry we can't exactly show the crystal heart just yet." She said looking a bit nervous. "Don't ya worry though it'll be ready pretty soon."

Link was a bit taken back at how much this pony forwardness but was relieved to hear they actually found the crystal heart. After hearing this Link decided that he could do a little exploring to see what the fair had to offer. Link went from stand to stand looking through the stands. Link then felt himself being pulled by someone. Before he had a chance to realize it his tunic and items were removed and replaced with a strange set of armor and had a lance on the side.

"Sorry about dragging you over here but we needed somepony to help with the crystal joust and you looked perfect for the part." A familiar cyan mare said with the same armor on her. "Anyways you know how to joust right?"

Link had seen some jousting on his travels but he never expected to be part of one or even be the horse or in this case pony doing it, regardless Link nodded.

"Great let's give these ponies a show they'll remember and don't worry i'll go easy on ya, but not too easy." The cyan pony said before flying to the other side.

Link soon got into a ready stance and waited for the signal. Link looked up for a brief moment and could have sworn he saw the shield disappear momentarily. Soon Link heard a horn and looked back forward to see the pony running in his direction. Link realizing the match started he began running. As the two got closer to each other Link saw that her lance was going to get to him first but he shifted his body enough causing her lance to miss but not his. The hit from the lance was strong enough to send the pony flying and into a pile of hay.

Link heard the ponies cheering and smiled. With all the positive emotions going on the heart would be powered in no time. Link was even getting used to his new body if running was any proof of that. Link then went over to the pile off hay and offered his hoof to pony. She saw his hoof and quickly stood up.

"I'm fine I don't need you're help but that was pretty good but this time I won't go see easy on you this time." She emphasized with a hoof to his chest.

Link shook his head and went back to his starting position. Link looked back up and saw that the shield disappeared briefly before coming back. Link started felt a drop of sweat roll down. The shield was almost down they needed the heart right now. Link quickly removed the armor much to the ponies confusion.

"Sorry I really need to be somewhere right now but that match was fun." Link quickly yelled as he grabbed his equipment and tunic. While Link was trying to figure out how to put his tunic on he noticed something on his back. The sight of them made Link stop for a second on his back were a pair of wings. Link quickly snapped out of it and decided to check the wings later. Right now he needed to see if the heart was ready.

Once Link got all his items back in place he pulled out farores wind and quickly warped back to where the heart was being kept. As Link teleported in he saw that a huge crowd of ponies were around the heart asking to see it. Link began to get more anxious why wasn't the heart ready. Link decided to activate the lens of truth and see what was going on.

Once Links eyes shifted he saw that under the cover was not the crystal heart. It may have looked like it but it was the wrong color and looked like it was made of something else entirely. They had a fake crystal heart this whole time, he should have checked earlier and now he wasted time to look for it. Link turned off the lens of truth ability and tried to think of were Sombra kept the heart. Link then looked up and figured something out.

'If I were a evil tyrant and hid something that could kill me I would put it somewhere close to me.' Link thought to himself. 'I need to check the castle it has to be in there somewhere.'

Link moved out of the crowd and looked for the entrance to the castle but there were three different doorways. Link decided to just go with a random one and see where it could go from there. Link opened the castle door and entered the castle as he left the other ponies behind with the fake heart. Once Link found the stairs he began ascending them. Link decided to check the rooms at the very top hopefully like Ganondorf, Sombra decided his chambers would be at the very top of the castle.

(15 minutes later)

Link had finally reached the top floor he decided to lay down for a seconds so that he can rest his legs. Travelling up stairs was a lot tougher with 4 legs instead of 2. Link was surprised there weren't any guards patrolling the castle during his climb.

A castle like this and no guards, something isn't right. When Link finally got to his hooves he walked into the entrance leading into the hallway. Link walked through the hallway hoping to find something but hasn't found a single door. When Link reached the end of the hallway he found that it led to a dead end.

"What? How can there not be anything up here?" Link asked himself. There wouldn't be a hallway this high up if it had nothing. Link tried to figure out what to do when he came up with a idea.

"If I'm right." Link began as he began to focus his magic activated his sight of truth. "There are doors here they're just invisible." Link once the eyes were activated he saw that he was right, the hall way had many hidden doors.

Link looked at each one wondering which to go to when he realized to go to the one with the biggest door. Link entered the room and saw the interior.

The whole room was covered in black crystal from the walls, ceilings, and floors there was a king size bed on the left side of the room on the sides of the bed were two stands the one on the right had held a full set of armor for the body and hooves and the left stand held a sword with a hilt that was made from a black crystal and was covered in spikes which meant that no one could hold it with their hoof or mouth the blade of the sword was of a red metal that link has never seen before link looked closely and saw it was dripping something red Link took a closer look and found out it was blood. Link decided to not find out where it came from, on the other side there was a desk and many books some were open and some were covered in blood. Link saw a door on the other side of the room he walked towards it and opened it to see that it led to a balcony. Link could see the entire empire even past the shield.

Link saw stairs that led to the very top of the tower, he was about to go up them till he felt something grab his hind legs. Link looked backed and was shocked to find that crystals had wrapped around him, soon the crystals had started growing to the rest of his body Link tried to break free but the more he struggled the faster the crystal began growing. The crystals were now up to his neck he tried to break free but just couldn't. All Link saw before his whole body was covered was for the shield to go out for a few seconds to show a orange sky with black clouds.

Crystal Revolution (Part 1)

The first thing Link noticed when he started to wake up was that he was unable to move any part of his body. Link slowly opened his eyes and his vision was obscured by crystals covering his sight. Link shot his eyes open remembering what had happened before he was knocked out. He tried to move any part of his body, but found he was unable to. Link tried to find out where he was but due to the crystal showing him the same sight more then once it was harder to figure out the general area. Link however managed to see that he wasn't the only one trapped inside a crystal. He noticed a row of ponies next to his extending a few feet. Link continued to struggle hoping to break out of his crystal prison but found himself unable to. Link was about to give till he felt his whole body vibrated, Link was about to pass it off as nothing till it happened again and heard something crack.

'Someone is breaking me out of here.' Link thought to himself. Another hit and the crystal covering his body had been completely shattered.

Link fell to the ground from lose of balance but he was glad he was free. Link looked up to see a light teal with pony with a teal mane and tail looking down at him with a surprised look on his face and a hammer in his hoof. Link was about to thank him but he suddenly swung his hammer at him. Link seeing the hit coming for him rolled to the side dodging it. Link saw that he was about to swing again but Link got to his hooves and back step away from the swing.

"Hey stop trying to hit me." Link yelled to the stallion, as he dodged another hit.

"You're not taking me you zombie!" The stallion yelled out as he swung again.

Link dodged and realized this was getting out of hand or hoof in his case. As the stallion was about to swing Link tackled him to the ground making him drop the hammer. Link held down the stallion hooves so that he wouldn't try and hit him.

"Don't eat me I'm made of crystal so you'll break your teeth if you do." He got out before he closed his eyes.

Link was starting to get annoyed by this stallion and how crazy he was sounding. "Listen I'm not a zombie and I'm not going to eat you, I was just trapped in that crystal until you broke me out." Link said calmly to the stallion hoping to calm him down.

"Are you sure?" The stallion said peeking his eyes open. "You won't eat me?"

Link sighed and nodded. "Yes I won't eat you or wrap myself around your body and start crushing your bones." Link said simply to the stallion remembering the times he fought redeads.

The stallion looked confused but nodded. Link helped him back on his hooves and he sighed. "Sorry, I'm a little jumpy around these statues." He said looking at one of the statues cautiously. "Name's Crystal Arrow." He said as he held out his right hoof

'Link." he replied shaking his hoof. " And it's alright but why did you start attacking me as soon as I got of there?" Link asked.

"Well, these statues were of ponies that had angered King Sombra one way or the other, whether it was not doing the slave work he had given them, trying to escape, or assassinate him, anypony that tried anything liked that were all turned into these crystals statues. Sombra would leave them here for weeks. They don't die from starvation or anything but once we let them out they would be traumatized and who can blame them. Being alive but you couldn't move and all you being forced to see you're worst fears become the only thing you see for weeks with no end. Ponies couldn't sleep normal after that all they could dream of was those same nightmares. Sometimes though Sombra drains them of their life force making them become life less husks.

Link listened carefully to the pony's explanation and nodded, the fact that could have happened to him made Link shudder at the thought of living their worst nightmares everyday, even the great hero of time still had fears, Link could have sworn he heard a cluck but he shook his head. "I see, that must have been torture, anyways so what are you doing down here?" He asked Arrow.

"Well King Sombra said to check on the statues down here. Making sure that the ponies in them were still trapped. I got real angry just looking at these things so I picked up this hammer and started hitting them, the only way they could be broken though is by King Sombras magic. Imagine my surprise when I broke you out, I kind of jumped to conclusions that you were one of the lifeless husks come back to life.

I see, what happened while I was trapped the last thing I remember was King Sombra and Spike both going for the crystal heart.

"Well when King Sombra saw the crystal heart and he immediately went after Spike tried to reach it, but failed he missed and landed on the ground hard but lived thanks to his dragon scales but it was over, once King Sombra had gotten the heart we realized there was no hope of ever stopping him. Five of the ponies from before had tried to stop him but King Sombra used a spell to make them experience their greatest fears and being of the victim of that spell it must have been unbearable. With the Crystal Heart in hoof Sombra had took back the Empire and made us his slaves again. He was going to keep them in the dungeons until he they were ready to be executed.

How long ago was this. Link asked.

This all happened yesterday. Arrow replied. even if its been one day the slave work is still unbearable. Whats worse Sombra created these monsters to keep watch over us. He never did this a thousand years ago, he usually had the possessed guards watch over us. But these monsters they're torture.

Link listened to what happened while he was trapped in his crystal prison. He regretted not being able to be there to help them, if that trap wasn't there on the balcony he could have prevented Sombra from getting the crystal heart . He may have failed to stop Sombra from taking over the Empire, but he can still save this empire from his rule.

"Don't worry Arrow I'll fix this." Link reassured the stallion.

"Fix this?" Arrow asked questionably. "Fix this how?"

"Isn't it obvious I'm going to free the slaves from Sombra and take back the Empire." Link answered confidently.

"Are you crazy!' Crystal Arrow screamed in fear. "Nopony can take on King Sombra except Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, what makes you think you could."

"I don't think Arrow I know and have to beat him." Link replied calmly. "If your still under Sombra rule then that means this Princess Celestia or Princess Luna haven't come and stop him yet so. It's up to me to save this empire, I don't care how strong Sombra might be but I can tell you this. I have faced many strong opponents in the past and compared to them Sombra he's weaker, but I won't back down from even if it means that I might die. If I succeeded then that means that everyone can live knowing the person who caused them so much pain is dead and won't be coming back and I won't back down knowing that I could have stopped him sooner if I had just waited and done nothing." Link answered his words and voice filled with courage and hope.

Crystal Arrow's mouth was agape from Links words. He was ready to risk his life if it meant that they could live peacefully knowing Sombra was gone for good. Arrow for the first time felt in a long time confident that everything would be alright. The Exit is up through those stairs. Arrow Pointed behind him.

Link nodded and began trotting towards the exit ready to cause a mass freedom rescue on a whole Empire.

"Link," Arrow called out. Link stopped and craned his head toward Arrow. "Thank you for helping us," He said with a smile.

Link smiled and nodded and started climbing the stairs.

Arrow sat down and sighed. "Good luck Link." He whispered.

Link opened the door and fell to the floor. "Why do Evil Kings always have to have long staircases for everything." He breathed out. Link stood up, closed his eyes, and took a big breath. Once he opened his eyes he was astonished at what had became of the Empire. Giant black crystals were surrounding the entire empire and the empire and castle instead of the light blue color, was now a dark midnight blue color and there were sharp crystals growing out of the ground everywhere.

Link was on a hill away from the empire so he started running toward the empire. As he neared it he hid in a dark alleyway. He saw what had become of the ponies. The ponies were chained up to each other from their necks. Some were pulling large carts filled with crystals that were glowing a dark color. Link was about to exit the ally when he heard heavy footsteps coming from the other direction. Link turned around and saw what appeared to be a 8 foot tall golem which appeared to be made of black crystals. All it had in body parts were two very sharp legs and arms that ended in three fingers. Behind it were two monsters link recognized they were White Wolfos but Link noticed something different about these ones. The ones he had fought while look like real wolves they were much bigger and they had their very long claws these however look more like normal wolves with straight row of sharp teeth and red eyes instead of green.

The wolfos stopped walking with the giant crystal golem and brought their noses up and began sniffing the air. After they were finished they began to stalk toward where the scent ended. Link seeing they were coming towards him pulled out his sword with his mouth and went deeper into the alley hiding himself in the dark. Link then pulled out his hookshot and aimed at the entrance of the alley waiting for his target. The wolfos entered the alley and began to search for their target. Link aimed his hookshot at the wolfos on the left and fired it. The hookshot had hit the wolfos right in the chest with its spear end. The wolfos howled in pain and tried to get the spear out of its chest but it failed. The chain soon retracted pulling the wolfos with it. Link pulled his head back ready to slash down on the wolfos, once it got a fair amount of distance away link slashed it cutting it's head in half. The second wolfos seeing what happened to it companion chased after it and pounced in it's general area. Link seeing the jumping wolfos quickly removed his hookshot from the dead one he then grabbed and tossed the already dead wolfos toward the jumping one. The wolfos was knocked out of the area by the body of his fellow wolfos and and fell flat on its side and couldn't get up from the added weight of his dead companion. Link walked up to the trapped wolfos and started down at it he raised his sword and brought it down on the creatures neck cutting its neck off its head. Link then sheathed his sword and watched as the dead bodies of the wolfos were burnt to ashes from the blue flame, any sign that they were here was the large pool of blood. Just as he was about to walk away Link noticed something shining in the pool of blood. Link picked it up and held it front of him. '

It looked like a key but it looked like a big chunk was missing. Link then heard a voice.

This is but one of the keys Link. There are four other you must collect to free the slaves.

Link looked around trying to find out where that voice came from. He couldn't find anyone so he shrugged but remained cautious 'So I need to collect all five pieces in order to free the slaves' Link thought to himself. 'Then I better find them and quick.' Link then put the key piece into his item pouch.

Link looked out the alley and made sure nothing else was passing by. Link needed a better view to find out where the other keys were. Link pulled out his hookshot and fired it toward a chimney on a house. He was pulled up and landed safely but the recoil hurt more than it usually does.

'New body still needs getting used to' Link thought to himself while he rubbed his arm. Link surveyed the area hoping to find a clue to where the next piece was.

Link then noticed that some of the ponies were pulling large carts filled with crystals toward the castle. A stallion suddenly fell down and was breathing hard. He had been pulling the heavy cart non stop bank and forth for the whole day and he was getting tired of it and his whole body felt sore. Then he felt a sharp pain in his side like something had slapped him very hard and bit him at the same time. He had gotten up quickly and started pulling but he felt another shot of pain hit his leg.

Link saw that the stallion was getting whipped by a large blue creature wearing a black mask and was wearing a black coat. In its hand was a red whip which ended in a snake mouth which had four very long and sharp fangs. Link noticed something shine on the things waist and saw it was another part of the key.

Link grinned and got out his bow. He laid down on his stomach and held the bow sideways and closed one eye to aim more precise. He placed a arrow on the string and pulled back. As the monster raised its hand to whip the pony who closed his eyes waited for the oncoming pain but it never came.

He opened his eyes and saw an arrow had pierced the monster's elbow. The sudden pain in the monsters arm made it yell out and drop the whip which disappeared. It went to grab the arrow but didn't have a chance to react. Another arrow was shot and this time it pierced its head getting stuck.

The monster dropped on the ground dead while blood poured out from the wounds. It then disappeared in a blue flame dropping the key piece. Two more whip wielding monsters came out and looked around seeing who just killed one of their own. They were about to go when they were both shot with arrows piercing their chest. They both fell down with a thud and soon disappeared in a blue flame. The stallion couldn't believe what just occurred in front of him. He looked around to see that others were staring at what just happened with their mouths agape.

Link put his bow away and jumped down the building and rolled to avoid hurting his legs. Link ran over to where the key was and picked it up holding it in front of his hoof.

'Two pieces down three to go.' Link thought to himself.

The stallion looked at Link with his mouth open, how did he escape from his chain. Link suddenly realized that someone just saw what he just did he turned his head and looked at the stallion and smiled.

"Don't worry I'm going to help all of you escape from here." Link said with confidence. The stallion smiled and felt tears in his. Link smiled and brought out his hookshot and shot it at a nearby house. He was pulled up and gone from the stallion sight.

"Thank you." He whispered. He then went back to work with a smile on his face. He needed to spread the news.

Above where Link had just killed the three snappers was a crystal bird which had just witnessed everything Link had down. It got off from its perch and flew up to the throne room to present what it had just saw to its master.

Sombra sat on his throne enjoying a nice glass of wine. He had been ever the more pleased with regaining his throne. That troublesome band of ponies and that dragon had almost gotten the crystal heart and raised the crystal ponies spirits up. If they were to able to return the crystal heart to those damn ponies he would most likely be dead right now. He was glad he had healed up faster from his fight with Link. That colt was more trouble than he was worth. He was now trapped in a crystal prison that he wouldn't be getting out of anytime soon. That's what the colt gets for sneaking in to his chambers and going to where he had hidden the crystal heart.

"You have the perfect chance to kill Link now Sombra so tell me why haven't you done it yet." The cloaked pony said as he sat next to the throne. "I am still waiting for you're end of the bargain."

And you shall get it I just thought Link deserved a little torture before his death. Sombra said with a grin. "I'll have him live his greatest fears for a week, and when I let him out he will me a shivering mess. That's when I will kill him when he is at his lowest."

The cloaked pony laughed at what Sombra told him. I must say if that's what you are doing with him I can be patient for his death. It makes it all the more fun to see one of the greatest heroes be so weak.

Sombra still had doubts about this pony. While he was grateful that he helped him take back his empire, Sombra can still feel the immense amount of darkness and evil radiating from him, far more than anything he has encountered. He could practically feel the evil in the air whenever he was around and it sent a chill down his spine not one of fear but of nervousness. He wondered why he didn't kill him he had enough power to kill him in instant and take the empire for himself but he told him he had other plans. He did however gave Sombra control over monsters of likes he had never seen before. Those Wolfos snappers and Kargarok and some others he was given control had made a fine addition to making sure they would work.

Soon he would be back to his full power and his plan can go without any hindrances. As Sombra was about to take a sip from his wine, one of his crystal Kargarok landed in front of him. Sombra raised a eyebrow wondering why one of his surveillance crystal monsters came to him, he had intended them to watch the crystal ponies making sure of locating them from the air when they tried to escape. He wondered why exactly it was here.

The Bird soon began glowing and displayed a image of the crystal ponies pulling the carts filled with his magic crystals, one of them fell down and was soon getting whipped by the snapper. He enjoyed these moments the pain and suffering of his slaves was one of the things he missed seeing. He still wondered why it was even showing him this it was just a mere slave getting what he deserved for not working. What happened next had surprise him, when the snapper was about to whip the pony again it was shot with a arrow hitting it's hand, it tried to remove the arrow but another was shot through it's head killing it.

Sombra eyes widened at this and was immediately angered by it. Soon two more snappers came in to check what had happened but were killed like the last one their bodies disappearing in a blue flame.

"Who is the one responsible for this." Sombra said through grit teeth, Apparently somepony was brave enough to stage a revolt against him. When he finds the pony who was doing this he would make sure he would be tortured till he is on the brink of death and left to rot. Soon a all too familiar stallion came running up toward the puddle of blood and got a piece of the key to the slaves chains he then turned toward the slave that was punished then ran off.

Sombra's face had shown pure anger toward the stallion who he thought was trapped In a crystallized prison how did he even escape. He then remembered that he sent one of his slaves to bring him a crushed body of the dead crystal ponies he must have broke his while retrieving him his food he made sure to punish him later, Sombras face was then slowly shifting from anger to mirth, he then began to laugh which echoed inside the entire room.

'It seems Link is a much more brave stallion then he thought he is willing to save these pitiful ponies.' Sombra thought to himself. I never meet a pony filled with some much courage and bravery," Sombra said with interest."To think he is willing to go against me and my army just to save this empire what reason would he have to gain from this."

He is a selfless hero Sombra he would go against the demons of tartarus if it meant to save the lives of the innocent. The cloaked pony said. He is a hero that will take on any foe no matter how powerful they are and defeat them with ease.

"No matter in a few hours the crystal heart will have enough negative energy and once it is released across all of equestria, Kill those damn princesses for trapping me in that block of ice, and I shall become the new ruler and nopony will get in my way." Sombra said with growing anger as he soon smashed his wine glass with his right hoof leaving shards and drops of wine on the floor.

I suggest you get rid of Link while you still have the chance Sombra. The cloaked pony warned. If you even slip up even once or show any weakness he will not hesitate to take you down. I sure you remember you're battle from yesterday.

He raised a hoof to his right eye were Link had left a scar from their fight he still wondered how Link had hurt it had bothered Sombra, Link could be troublesome to his plan. Sombra shook his head was he doubting himself he knows that Link will die before he even reaches him. He had nothing to fear about him, he was the one who brought fear into ponies hearts, the day he feels fear is the day he dies and if all goes according to plan he won't be able to be killed.

Well then Sombra I must be going and please don't disappoint me. the cloak pony said before disappearing from the room.

Sombra felt another bead of sweat fall down his face. He shouldn't feel nervous Link would never have the chance to defeat him. He then felt a sharp pain in his chest. He hated when this happened to him. These had been occurring when he had first saw Link. It wasn't from the arrow he had shot at him that was another scar hiding under his armor but this was different. Whenever he mentions his name he feels like he knew him before especially from 1000 years. He realized thinking about this was just a waste of time he had a empire to rule, a heart to power, and a Land to rule. He then opened up his hidden passage and went down to go check on the hearts progress.

The crystal Kargarok cawed and flew out the window seeing that it had finished what it needed to do. It flew out the window to go and provide aerial view and search for the stallion named Link.

Link sliced through the last wolfos that had just pounced him. He had been running around the empire hoping to find the next key piece until he ran into a pack of 5 wolfos. He had to fight them off and he got careless since one bit his right foreleg luckily it didn't bite too deep. he got out a roll of white bandage and wrapped it around his hurt leg. Link put pressure on it and didn't feel too much pain. As Link was about to leave he heard heavy footsteps behind him. He turned around and saw that one of the crystal golem he had saw from before had found him. Looking carefully Link saw that a key piece was tied to its arm.

Link smiled and pulled out his megaton hammer his sword would be useless against this monster but the hammer would smash it to pieces. Seeing how slowly it was moving Link started running toward it. When he got a good amount of speed he jumped high in the air and was prepared to smash the golem. Link then felt immense pain in his chest and was launched back dropping his hammer. Link slid on the crystal floor and came to a stop. Whatever hit him knocked all the air out of his lungs and he was trying to get it back. Link looked back and saw that the golem had it's right arm out. It must have hit him in mid air but he didn't see it move. Once Link got his breathe back he saw his hammer a couple feet away from him. He then ran for it but then saw something frighting.

The golem had started sprinting and it was fast. It pulled it's right arm back then socked link in his muzzle with enough force to knock him off the ground and straight through a houses's wall.

Link touched his face and regret as he felt a stab of pain. He pulled his hoof away and saw blood on it. Link felt the liquid from both the top and bottom of his lip. Link felt his tail being grabbed and he was immediately lifted up in the air and suddenly slammed down on the road. he looked and saw that the golem was holding his tail. The golem then raised Link over his head and began spinning him in a circle. After a few spins he threw link against the wall and Link heard a unpleasant crack and he knew it wasn't the wall. Link fell down on the floor barely breathing he looked down and saw his whole head was bleeding and lines of blood were on some parts of his face.

Link looked up at the golem slowly walking towards him. Link reached for his item pouched and pulled out a blue gem. He then began focusing his magic into it. As the golem was ready to strike, Link raised the gem above his head and was soon surrounded by a blue shield. The golem swung his arm and hit the shield. The result was the golems arm breaking.

Seeing his opportunity Link ran towards his hammer and picked it up with his mouth. Turning around he ran toward the golem which was about to swing with its left arm. Link saw the attack and ducked under the punch. The power of the punch made the golem trip and fall on it's stomach. Link then climbed it's back and using all his strength brought down the hammer onto it's back. Link pulled his hammer and up and couldn't believe it. Their wasn't a single scratch on it. Then Links shield had disappeared he was out of magic. Seeing the golem was about to get up he quickly grabbed the key piece and jumped off it. He pulled out his hookshot and fired it at a houses chimney pulling him up and away from the golem.

Link jumped from building to building making distance with the golem when he felt he was safe enough he laid down and started breathing very hard. He had never expected that enemy to be so tough . Link then got out a blue potion from his item pouch and drank it healing his injuries and restoring his magic. Link pulled out the key pieces and saw how his progress.

"Three down, two to go." Link said to himself. He placed the keys and empty bottle back in his pouch. Link got up on his hooves and surveyed the area he was in, he saw some watch towers near the castle and decided to check their next. He had only hoped nothing worse than those golems would appear again.

Crystal Revolution (Part 2)

Link soon reached the watch towers and kept his distance. He looked at one of the towers and saw two very large creatures watching over the ponies. They were very large, and muscular, brown monsters with one big eye on their face and two sharp teeth sticking out from the bottom they were also wearing a red tunic. Link recognized these enemies, they were hinoxs, enemies that live mostly in hot mountains cave or near temples. From what he was guessing they were keeping watch and from his experience he had with them their weapon of choice bombs are going to be dangerous.

He knew arrows wouldn't work with them he made that mistake the first time and when they started glowing red from anger the chase began. Link grimaced. A angry hinox was a dangerous hinox.

Link shook the memory out of his head, he needed to take out those tower before those hinox start getting bomb crazy. Link looked around hoping to not run into another one of those golems.

As soon as the coast was clear Link ran towards the tower and got under it. Link then pulled out two bombs and placed them under the tower. He ran a safe distance and once far enough he got out his bow and shot An arrow at one of the bombs causing it and the other bomb to explode.

The resulting explosion had caused the towers support to break causing it to fall. The tower crashed down and the two hinox laid motionless in the wreckage before being engulfed in blue flames.

Link then went over to the busted down tower and checked the wreckage for the key piece. Not finding anything Link continued to the next tower. As he was running he felt something sharp grab both his sides and were digging in to his skin causing him to trip. Link fell down face first into the road and felt the blood coming down his sides.

Link looked up and saw that a large crystal shaped kargarok. He faced this monster before in two different variations and from the looks of it, this one was the more predatory version he has encountered. Link saw how this one was made of crystal like the golem. Link didn't know if he could damage his bird thinking it would have the same effects as the golem.

The kargarok suddenly dived toward link hoping to get him with its beak. Link seeing this quickly jumped to the side and got out his hammer. the kargarok quickly swooped around and brought its talons to try and slash Link. Link waited and when it was about to get him he jumped quickly to the side and brought his hammer down on it's wing. The results were not what Link hoped for.

While the attack brought the kargarok down it didn't damage it's wing at all. Link seeing that his hammer would be useless to it he quickly returned it to his pouch. Link saw that his shadow was growing and suddenly had wings, seeing this he quickly jumped back dodging a second kargarok attack. Soon the two kargarok were circling Link like vultures.

Link knew fighting two enemies he couldn't damage was not a smart move. He couldn't run from them since they would quickly catch up to him with their wings. Suddenly both the kargaroks dived at link at the same time. Link jumped to the side again dodging their attack. Doing this caused the crystal kargaroks to crash into each other and cause a audible crack.

When they separated Link saw how their faces had cracks in them.

"The only way they can be hurt is with each other." Link said to himself. "Well if that's it then this became a whole lot easier." Link grinned.

Link then pulled out his hookshot and pressed a button on it. The hook retracted and three claws detached from it. The hookshot was now the clawshot. Link fired his claw shot and grabbed one of the kargaroks talons. Link saw the other kargarok from his peripheral vision coming towards him. The clawshot started to pull the kargarok he grabbed back and at the right moment he then swung his whole body around which caused the clawed kargarok to slam into the attacking one.

The impact caused both kargaroks to shatter, turning into tiny crystal pieces.

"Good thing that blacksmith modified my hookshot." Link said smiling to himself. "Now I can beat these crystal monsters, though the golems might still be tough."

Link then noticed something shimmering in the crystal remains. Link went over and saw it was another key piece. Link picked it up with his right hoof and raised it over his head where it floated as usual.

'All right just one more piece.' Link thought to himself as he stashed the fourth piece with the other three. 'But where is it'

Before Link could think of where to go next he heard a large crash behind him. Before link can turn around he is suddenly hit in the back of the head with something hard. Link was launched and land on his face. Link felt his vision fading and blood from the hit to his head, but he managed to stay awake.

Link looked behind him to see a heavily armored knight with a tail coming out it's back and wielding a large ball and chain which had some of Links blood on it. Soon it started to swing the ball and chain above its head and a aura of lighting covered it.

Link knew exactly what this enemy was. It was a DarkHammer

He encountered one of these monsters in a dungeon he had found when he was travelling the snowy mountains. Due to the cold weather and the area he fought it the darkhammer had the advantage, and Link failed to kill it due to the area they were fighting caused a avalanche which almost killed him but the darkhammer was still alive so Link did the smart thing and retreated.

Now here was another one for him to face and this time nothing is going to hinder him. Link then winced from the pain from his headache.

The darkhammer threw the ball toward Link who quickly sidestepped out of the way. Link started to run towards the enemy but saw the chain being pulled so he quickly jumped over the oncoming weapon. Link however didn't see the lighting it was producing in the sky which sent a painful shock throughout his body.

Link fell to the floor with some burns on his tunic, and coat. Link looked up and saw the Darkhammer was swinging its ball and chain again. Link saw that a large piece of wood was behind the monster. Link got out his clawshot and fired it at the piece of wood. When it latched on Link pulled on it very hard which flew through the air hitting the Darkhammer in its head. This caused it to lose its balance and with it swinging the ball and chain. It made him fall forward and drop his weapon.

Link saw a opening in the back of it's armor, using this opportunity he drew his sword and charged at the monster. When he reached it he slashed the opening in a three slash combo. The Darkhammer got up quick and tried to back fist link but he ducked under the attack. This caused another opening for Link to run behind it and slash it a couple more times.

Darkhammer grabbed its ball and chain and began swinging it again. Link ducked under the the swinging weapon and rolled back. The Darkhammer then start to swing his weapon trying to hit Link. Link ducked, jumped over, and rolled back to dodge every swing of its weapon. Darkhammer then brought down the ball, Link back stepped but lighting bursted out from the attack and shocked Link causing him to yell out in pain.

Link fell to the ground small sparks visibly shocking him and his vision grew blurry. Link saw that the Darkhammer was swinging his chain around again. Link barely got up and felt his legs shaking from his weight. He then began running towards the enemy his face of pure determination never wavering. When he got close the Darkhammer swung down on him at the same Link jumped while simultaneously grabbing his sword from his mouth and placing it between both his hooves over head in a stabbing motion. Darkhammer was about to throw but was too slow. Link stabbed straight through his armor stabbing all the way till the other side. The force of the jump caused him to crash down and roar in pain. Before it stopped moving and died.

Link pulled his sword out of the ground, he then swung his sword twice before spinning it and sheathing it. Link took a moment to catch his breath. When he was good he looked at where the corpse used to lay and saw the last key piece he went over and picked it he got out all the pieces and started to put them together.

When it was completed the key shined and became whole. The bow of the key was made of a black crystal and shaft was a red crystal.

Link smiled he could now release the crystal ponies from the shackles holding them.

Link then saw that the ball and chain had not disappeared with the darkhammer. Link then went over and picked it up.

Link grabbed the ball and chain. He swung it around above his head. He looked to his left and saw a crystal pillar Link then with all his might swung the ball and chain into the pillar destroying it.

Link grinned, now he had a sure fire way to defeat those golems. Link placed the ball and Chain inside his item pouch which was thankfully enchanted with fairy magic, if he didn't have he would be caring all his stuff around and that would have been a pain.

Link then made his way to the center of the empire where the castle was and where the slaves were taking those crystals.

Link reached the center and saw the slaves marching down the empire going to and from the castle all with depressed looks on their face. Link looked at the chains hoping to find the keyhole but found none. Link then noticed his pouch was glowing red and black, He looked inside and saw the Chain key was glowing it suddenly shot out of his pouch and went flying toward the center under the castle. The ponies noticed the strange glowing key and that's when their chains began glowing. When they glowed the brightest the chains were destroyed freeing the ponies.

The ponies were in a state of shock their mouths were agape at what just happened. Link seeing what had just happened ran towards the center plaza.

"Alright everyone!" Link shouted out toward the crowd. "We need to find you all a big open place to keep you all safe does anyone know a spot!?"

One of the crystal ponies stepped forward. Link looked towards her waiting for her tell him a good spot.

"Well there's the library, we could all fit inside their since it's so big." She suggested.

Link smiled and nodded. "Can you tell me where it exactly is?" He asked the old mare.

'Well it's down that road and the 7th building on the right." She answered pointing toward the south side of the empire. "Why do you ask?"

I'm getting you all to a safe place. Link said, he reached inside his pouch and pulled out farores wind. Link stood on his hind legs and spun his forehoofs before raising them in the air where a green orb of energy shot above him. soon a green pillar of light surrounded all the ponies and soon they all teleported.

Soon they reached their destination Link stood at the entrance of the library and saw the confused looks on everypony.

"All right you all stay here I'm going to the castle to take care of Sombra." Link Yelled out toward the crowd of ponies.

Link was surprised that instead of having shocked faces they had ones of hope, the last pony who he told this to thought he was crazy. Link shrugged and was about to go outside.

"Link wait." Link heard someone call his name he turned around and saw it was Cystal Arrow.

"Arrow is their something wrong?" Link asked the stallion.

"Link I just want to thank you." He started.

"It was no problem Arrow is that it?" Link wondered.

"No, I also need to tell you when you get into the castle head to the dungeon, that's where Somrba has those ponies and dragon locked up. Also the guards are being mind controlled by Sombra, they don't mean to hurt you so please don't kill them."

Link nodded at what Crystal told him. "Thanks and don't worry I'll save them and no one innocent is dying. Link told him.

Link then exited the library pulling out a special bottle of Lon Lon milk and drank it. "Link then pulled out nayru's love and used it on the library." Soon a massive diamond shaped shield covered the library. Link had thirty minutes before the effects of the milk ran out.

As soon as Link reached the castle, He was met with a army of monsters. He saw all the monsters he encountered here. the crystal golems, kargaroks, White wolfos, Hinox and snappers were all waiting for him. Link looked through each monster counting their numbers. There were five crystal golems, ten crystal kargaroks, a pack of fifteen wolfos, eight hinox, and seven snappers.

Link had to get through all these monsters if he were to get inside the castle. Using his sword won't do him no good so he used the next best thing.

Link got out his new Ball and chain which didn't feel that heavy thanks to his golden gauntlets. He then started to swing it around with one hoof and kept his balance with the other 3.

Soon one of the Crystal golems charged at Link ready to hit him with a good punch. Link saw this and quickly swung his weapon hitting the golem launching until it landed on the road that's when the side broke revealing a actual beating heart. Link was surprised to see a heart inside the golem but knowing what he had to do he unsheathed his sword. He then quickly jumped in to air and did a ending blow piercing the heart. The golem then exploded which knocked Link back.

Link got up but was then blasted back again by a explosion. Link looked up and saw two Hinoxs with bombs in their hand. They then both threw their bombs Link quickly rolled back to dodge the exploding artillery. He then got out two of his own bombs and threw them at the giant enemies which upon intact explode killing them.

Link then got his ball and chain out again and started to swing the ball around which soon began emitting electricity. Three of the wolfos started to run towards him, Link slammed down the ball on the middle one which caused the ball to create a shock wave of lighting to kill the other two. Link suddenly felt a sharp pain hit his left side and saw a snapper with the head of his whip on Link. Link grabbed the whip and yanked it pulling in the snapper. Link raised his right forehoof and slammed it head down into the pavement which caused a audible crack and soon the snapper was burnt to ashes.

Link looked up and saw four kargaroks flying above him Link quickly got out his clawshot and fired it at one of them. It grabbed on to one from it's talons and started to spin it around in mid air hitting the other kargaroks making plummet in to one pile. Link then slammed the kargarok on his clawshot onto to the others destroying them.

Link then did a quick spin attack killing the four wolfos and two snappers that surrounded him. Link then saw his shadow was getting bigger he quickly rolled back dodging the Crystal golems stomp which then caused it to fall forward. Link then easily picked it up and tossed it at three Hinoxs. The weight of the golem crushed and killed the Hinoxs. Link then slammed down his ball and chain on the golem breaking its chest and exposing the heart which Link stabbed with another ending blow killing it.

Link then felt something heavy on his back he looked behind him to see that a wolfos was on him before he could anything to get it off it bit his back. Link felt more pain than he normally did in his back he grabbed the wolfos on his back and slammed it down on the floor he drew his sword and stabbed the wolfos throat.

Link got the ball and chain and started swinging it overhead again he saw 4 snappers and 3 hinox in front of him in a almost straight line. He then threw the ball up in the air and when it came directly in front of him he quickly stood back on his four hooves, turned around, and bucked it right at the enemies. It hit the first hinox in the chest and kept going back with the hinox still on hitting the other monsters making them into one big pile the monsters then fell on the floor still in a pile Link then swung down the ball and chain on the pile killing the enemies.

Link Pulled back the ball and looked at the remaining enemies. There were still 3 crystal golems, 6 kargorks and, wolfos. Link needed to get rid of those golems since they were still the biggest threat. Link seeing the body of the dead crystal golems he grabbed it and threw it at the one to his right.

The crystal golems seeing this dodged it but didn't see Lin swinging his ball and chain overhead slamming it down on it breaking through the body and destroying the heart. Before Link could pull back his weapon he was punched by another golem. He was launched back but he held on to his ball and chain and yanked it hard which then slammed into the golem killing it.

Link saw a golem behind him ready to hit him but he quickly back flipped and landed on his hind in a standing motion and with a strong over head swing brought down his ball and chain onto the golem so hard shattering his body and making a crater.

Link then fell down on his face due to him being unable to keep his balance. Link looked then heard a screech he looked to his left and saw a kargarok charging at him. Link quickly rolled forward dodging the dive. He then grabbed the kargaroks talon and slammed it down on the crystal floor breaking .

Link then rolled toward a wolfos and sliced it upward cutting the bottom of it's jaw open. Link then saw two more wolfos jump at him from the side, he rolled forward to dodge them and did a spin attack cutting their sides thus killing them.

Two kargaroks then slashed Link back with their talons. Link winced in pain but he grabbed the both talons with his hooves and slammed them together. The remaining three wolfos crept up on Link but he pulled out his bow and three arrows and aimed them at the wolfos and shot them straight through their head.

Link placed his bow back and got out his clawshot and fired it at a kargarok and spun it around hitting the others. Link quickly went and caught the falling kargaroks and slammed them down on the floor and the one still on his clawshot was brought down the same way.

Link took a moment to catch his breath the fighting had taken the tole on him. While he did suffer some injuries they would heal after a while. Link looked around the battle field seeing the pools of blood and broken crystal from both him and the monsters. Link went towards the entrance of the tower and went inside.

Link looked around the dark castle it didn't change much when he was here except for the color change. Link saw a chest in front of him and decided to go see what was in it. Suddenly spikes came from the ground almost stabbing Link.

'OK there are traps now.' Link thought. 'Better keep a more open eye.' Link stepped away from the chest and went to look for the dungeon. Link then heard the sound of heavy hoofs coming he quickly hid behind one of the pillars. A pony guard walked by his eyes were the same as Sombra and he was holding a spear. Link saw that he had a ring of keys on his armor.

Maybe those are for the dungeon. Link wondered. Well better get them now without killing him.

Link slowly crept up behind the guard once he was close enough he got his sword out with his hoof and hit him at his neck with the pommel of his sword. The guard then fell over and was knocked out.

Link then sheathed his sword and got the keys from his armor. Link then grabbed the body and took him toward the pillar to hid his body so it won't alert the other guards.

Link looked toward the direction he came from and saw a single doorway. Link went toward the door and opened it. He then saw the long stairway going down.

"Great more stairs" Link grumbled. "Well let's hope this doesn't take forever."

Twilight slowly opened her eyes. She wondered how long she was asleep. She had spoken to Luna in her dreams. She and Celestia had been working on the crystal shield covering the empire but had not made any progress. She wondered if she would be able to save them in time.

She still couldn't believe she failed to protect the empire. Princess Celestia trusted her failed, if she was going to get out of here how was she going to face her mentor.

Before she had more time to think about she heard the door slam open. She saw the two of the snappers running towards the door but one of them was shot in the head with a arrow it fell on the floor but wasn't dead. She couldn't believe what she was seeing, suddenly a arm holding the whip came in front of her cell it then it was engulfed in a blue flame.

Girls wake up. She whispered to her friends trying to wake them up.

Suddenly two of the wolfos howled and started to run towards the door. She tried to see what was going on but only was darkness.

"Twilight what's with all the noise?" Twilight heard Rainbows voice and her yawning. "Whoa what the hay happened here!"

Rainbow woke up to the sound of the wolfos howling and then saw the blood on the floor and the near dead snapper. She then heard the pained scream of the wolfos.

"R-R-R-ainbow." Rainbow heard Fluttershys trembling voice. "W-W-What's going on?"

Suddenly a wolfos with a its sides cut open pouring out blood. She screamed in terror at the sight of the dead animal.

"What in tarnation is going on here." Applejack shouted.

Soon hoofsteps started to come down from the hallway. Twilight and everypony got tensed at the oncoming footsteps. Soon a pony came forward. He was covered in blood and had a sword on his back.

Twilight gulped at the strange she recognized from yesterday. When she saw him yesterday he seemed like a calm and collected pony but now its like he was somepony entirely different.

He then stared at Twilight which caused her to tense up even more and she felt sweat start to drop. The stallion then went toward her cell door and pulled out a ring of keys and he then inserted a key and opened her door. He then opened the door and Twilight waited for him to make a move but he simply turned around and opened rarity's door.

Twilight wasn't sure if it was exactly safe to go outside yet. She watched as the stallion went over to rainbows door. Twilight got up and slowly walked toward the door. She then heard something hit the ground she quickly ran out of her cell and saw the stallion holding down Rainbow and had a sword next to her face. He then looked up at Twilight.

"Can you tell your friend to calm down and not try to attack me." He spoke in a calm voice.

Twilight nodded and went toward rainbow and lowered her head. "Rainbow why did you attack the stallion who just freed us?" Twilight whispered toward her friend.

"Guy just shows up with blood all over his body and you expect me not to attack him just to make sure he's not a threat." Rainbow whispered back

"Well just calm down I'm sure he doesn't mean any harm to us." Twilight told her friend.

"Fine but I'm keeping a eye on him." She whispered. And I still pretty ticked he beat me in the jousting contest then ran off.

"I'm right here you know." The stallion spoke up.

"Sorry she can be a bit cautious around other ponies and a bit of a sore loser." Twilight smile sheepishly. "Don't worry she won't do it again."

The stallion nodded and let her go he then proceeded to go to the other cells and open them releasing all of her friends who she realized were still asleep. Applejack thanked the stallion but kept a wary eye on him, Pinkie hugged the stallion till he almost lost his breath. Rarity was more focused on his outfit then the stallion, Fluttershy was trembling at the sight of him but Rainbow managed to coax her out, when Spike came out he stared wide eyed at the stallion.

When he came towards Cadence cell he opened it but saw she wasn't going anywhere without Shining Armor. Link seeing the stallion was not going anywhere anytime soon went over and picked him up with one hoof and put him on his back which surprised everypony considering how Shining was bigger than him.

He then came out of the cell and walked toward Twilight. "Is this everyone here that was trapped." He asked her.

Twilight nodded knowing that all her friends were out of their cells and accounted for.

The stallion nodded and suddenly pulled out a green gem and it soon began glowing. Twilight wondered what was going when suddenly a green pillar of light covered her and her friends and she felt a familiar feeling whenever she teleported.

Twilight was feeling dizzy from whatever the stallion did when her vision cleared up she saw she was back at the empires library and saw that it was full of crystal ponies. She turned towards her friends and saw they were still dizzy from the teleportation.

Wait teleportation. How did a earth pony manage to do magic?

She then saw the stallion place down her brother on the floor of the library where some ponies came and checked on her brother.

The stallion then made his way towards the door. Twilight was about to stop him till she felt a hoof an her shoulder. She turned around and saw a crystal pony stallion. She was about to ask him why she stopped her but, he just shook his head.

"If he managed to free all of us and you I have high hopes he'll beat Sombra." He assured her.

Twilight wasn't sure a stallion was by himself could beat Sombra but she could only hope. She decided to go wait with her friends and hope he came back.

Link arrived back at the castle and started to make his way up the stairs toward the throne room. He had rescued those trapped ponies and brought them back to the library. Where he placed another shield after he teleported them in. Link carefully sneaked around dodging and knocking out guards so they won't notice him or alert other guards.

Link finally made came up to the floor where he remembered he saw the throne room he knew Sombra would be behind these doors. Link took a deep breath and steeled himself ready for the fight ahead. Link placed both his hooves on the doors and opened them revealing the throne room and Sombra sitting on his throne with a evil smile on his face.

'This is it.' Link thought to himself.

The False Crystal King

As Link walked in the room he heard a slam behind him. He turned around and saw the door was closed and covered in black crystals. He then turned back around to face Sombra. Link continued to walk toward Sombra and stopped when he reached the bottom of the slope going up to the throne.

Link looked up at Sombra even if his face showed a calm collected king, but under that calm exterior was massive amounts of rage and hatred directed at him alone. He knew Sombra was enraged that he released the crystal ponies from their enslavement and how he killed all the monsters he threw at him even if they almost got the upperhoof on him.

"Well I must say, I wasn't expecting company." Sombra began in a calm tone. "If I did I would have something set up for you Link."

"Then you must be really blind to know what's been going on in your kingdom." Link retorted. "I expected a king such as yourself would have a more open eye, but from the looks of it your missing one."

Link felt Sombras anger rise but he kept a calm composure.

"I guess I have you to blame for this, nopony from any of my battles in the past have managed to leave a single scar on me during battle but you are the first." Sombra spoke. "That is quiet impressive for such a young colt as yourself."

"From our last encounter I was able to size up your strength and from anyone or anything I faced in the past your not one of the strongest."

Link felt his anger rising even more this was good anger would blind him during there upcoming battle.

"I see." Sombra spoke in a dark tone. "Well once I have the pleasure of killing the pest that you are, I will punish those crystal ponies thoroughly. Then when The crystal heart is powered with enough negative emotion I shall spread it across equstria ruling everything through fear."

"I won't let that happen this is were your reign ends whoever faced you before weren't strong enough to kill you but I'll make sure you won't harm anypony again." Link said as he pulled out his sword and got into a battle stance.

Sombra only grinned at Link. "Don't disappoint me, It's been far too long since I had a worth opponent."

Sombra than got up from his throne and he began concentrating his magic. His horn started to glow with a purple color and bubbled all over.

Suddenly he yelled out and his magic covered his body. From the floor Sombra shadow had begun to rise up from the ground and shift. his shadow was now of his upper body and and two swords made from his shadow were on both sides.

Soon the shadow charged at Link ready to begin swinging at him. As the shadow got the blade from it right side and swung it at link who back step out of the way the other shadow blade was a overhead attack which he immediately side stepped out of the way. Link tried to slice down at the shadow but saw his sword go right through it.

Before he had time to react the shadow detached and hit Link in his face which made him stagger back. One of the shadow blade tried to slash Link horizontally but he managed to regain his bearings and roll under it. The shadow began to shift became a large sword. It then began to glow with the same purple energy from Sombras horn. The sword swung and sent a large horizontal beam of energy at him. Link raised his right forehoof with the mirror shield in front of him hoping to not take too much damage from the massive attack coming straight towards him.

Somehow Link didn't feel any pain, he looked back up and saw that the energy attack had passed him but was missing a chunk from it. He lowered his hoof and shield down wondering what just happened and what that weird buzzing noise was. Link was however to distracted to notice another beam coming straight towards him. The attack hit Link and caused pain to circulate throughout his body like he was being shocked but ten times worse. Link felt his right rear leg go limp but he managed to keep his balance.

Link then noticed his shadow was longer he looked up and saw a shadow blade coming down on him. He managed to roll to the side in time to dodge it but it caused his limp leg to feel even more pain. Link raised it so he wouldn't risk hurting it. He couldn't roll now with his leg injured right now. Link saw the main body of the shadow coming toward him with both it's blade in front of it in a X formation Link brought his sword in front of him to block the attack.

When the shadow got close enough it slashed in a X Link was prepared to block it but it was for nothing since the shadow passed right through his sword and slashed at his chest. Link didn't have time to recover before the head of the main shadow had slammed into his chest sending back a couple feet.

Link brought a hoof to the cut on his chest while still managing to keep his balance on two hooves. He immediately pulled his hoof back and saw blood on it. How did a shadow manage to be both solid and not at the same time. Link quickly glimpsed at Sombra and saw that he was standing still, with his horn glowing, and eyes closed. Link realizing the shadow wasn't the main priority he knew what to do now.

Link slowly lowered his rear leg and delighted that it wasn't hurting anymore, he began to run toward Sombra. He dodged every attack his shadow made at him keeping his eyes on the main enemy. He then began climbing up his throne, he got his sword ready to do a slice at him. Suddenly Link felt something grab his rear hoof causing him to trip he looked back and saw that his own shadow wrapped around him.

Link then felt it pick him and threw him in the air. Sombra shadow came above him and hit Link hard on his back slamming him down on the floor hard enough to make spiderweb cracks. Link slowly got up and saw that he was missing his shadow. He looked up and saw that his shadow had fully came out of the ground and was standing next to Sombra with a sword in its mouth.

Links shadow began to charge toward Link ready to slash at him. Link raised his sword ready to parry the attack. As the shadow swung at Link, he slashed at the opposite direction of the shadows but his parry went straight through the sword but when it made contact with his cheek he managed to cut him. Link back flipped and felt the blood going down his face.

How is he suppose to beat a shadow if he can't hurt it, if he tried to go for Sombra the shadows would block his assault and counterattack. The shadow Link then raised it's sword in the air and it started glowing and getting bigger. Link quickly raised his shield in a effort to block the oncoming attack. The shadow Link then thrust his sword in a stabbing motion and a beam of darkness was going straight towards Link. Link waited for something to happen but nothing did. He looked over his shield and saw the attack disappeared and the only thing in front of him was a very confused shadow Link.

Link then heard the buzzing noise from before but a lot louder. He looked down and saw that his shield was glowing a black color. He then realized what was going on, he was absorbing the shadows attack. The mirror shield has the effect to reflect and store magic and be able to launch it back even stronger. Sombra must be using magic to control these shadows that's why he was able to absorb it. Link now knew how to defeat these shadows.

He sensed something behind him, Link quickly spun around and raised his shield to absorb a oncoming shadow sword from Sombras shadow. The mirror shield was now glowing darker and was making more noise. He just needed to absorb one more attack and launch it at Sombra. Sombras shadow showed a face of anger and was beginning to shift its form. Link eyes went wide when the shadow became a dragon.

The shadow raised its head and looked ready to start breathing flames. Link quickly turned around and started running, at that time he felt the heat near his body. Link looked behind him to see instead of red flames they were shadow but, from the looks of it they could still burn things Link turned around just in time to jump over his shadow attempted swing. Link tripped on his hooves but he managed to roll away from the flames. Link suddenly began to feel the fur on his body burning he turned around and saw that his tunic was on fire and it was making its way to his skin to burn him. Link quickly rolled to extinguish the flames which succeeded but, Link saw he had some burns on his body and that he wouldn't be wearing this tunic anymore after this battle.

Link looked back at the dragon seeing it was charging another flame breath attack. Link got ready to run but saw it launch out a ball made up of shadow. Link looked closely and saw no flames coming out of it he quickly turned around and raised his shield to absorb the attack. Link slid back a few feet but he managed to absorb the attack. Link Looked behind him and saw that he was at the bottom of the steps leading up to the throne. Link raised his shield and fired out all the stored shadow magic which shifted to a beam and went straight towards Sombra. Both his shadow and the dragon tried to stop the attack but the attack just absorbed them both making it more powerful. Sombra opened his eyes just as soon as the Shadow hit him. He screamed out in pain from the attack, when the beam stopped Sombra was standing but had many burnt and cuts which were dropping blood but he managed to stay up and ignore the pain.

Link put his shield down and got back into a battle stance while he harden his glare.

Sombra was getting even more angry with Link. "If simple shadows won't be able to kill you let's see how you handle a small army."

Sombra horn had started to glow even more. Link noticed outlines of ponies had suddenly appeared. Soon Ponies literally made of crystals had begun to form. Link stepped back as even more crystal copies were being made. Soon enough crystal copies were made to fill half of the throne room. Link felt sweat fall down his face as he surveyed the small army in front of him.

Link sheathed his sword and and pushed himself off the ground to stand on his hind hoofs. He then pulled out the ball and chain swinging it over his head. Link stared at the army in front of him ready to make his move.

Then at the same time both the army and Link charged at each other. Link yelled a battle cry and swung the ball and chain left and right and spun it around twice. destroying a small squad of the crystal ponies. Link then grabbed a chunk of the floor and slammed it down on the ground.

The crystal copies then began to slam into each other, Link was confused at what they were doing when they suddenly started to glow which made Link cover his eyes. when he looked back he saw the the copies were now bigger, double Links height. Link however didn't back down he charged at the larger enemy and swung at it's side, the copy however blocked it with its hoof which it used to slam down on the floor which caused a shock wave made Link fall down from the force. Link then felt the knee of a copy hit him in his stomach making him spit out spittle.

Link didn't have time when the surrounding copies took a shot at him not giving him time to recover. Link managed to land on his hooves and dodge a copies attack. Link looked at the copies surrounding him seeing there were too many. Link then got a idea, he slammed the ball on the floor getting it stuck. Link then jumped in midair and heaved the weapon in a arc which slammed down on the floor creating a massive shock wave destroying a third of the copies.

Sombra sensing the massive lost of copies needed to think of something, Seeing Link distracted he used his magic to conjure up a massive stone pillar. He then slammed it on the unsuspecting Link. Sombra smiled at how easy he was taken care of but then his eyes widen at the sight before him.

Link was lifting the pillar above him like it was nothing. Link then slammed it to the ground and went to one end of it. Link then lifted it and started spinning destroying any copy that was close enough to get hit by it. He then threw the pillar in the air almost hitting the ceiling, once it got to the right amount of height Link jumped up grabbed it then slammed it down on the ground somehow not making a single crack. The result of that attack destroyed most of the army of copies leaving very few.

The massive lost caused Sombra to get a massive headache and made him kneel down on one leg.

Link seeing Sombra open and weak he ran straight towards him. Link jumped up and drew his sword and saw about to slash Sombra but he was knocked out of the air and landed on his back. Link got sat up and looked down as his chest which had a burnt spot on it.

"You wretched brat." Sombra roared at Link losing his temper. "I should have never let these damn copies deal with you." He said as he destroyed the remaining copies.

Link put the Ball and Chain back in his item pouch and unsheathed his sword and got back into his battle stance. His glare getting more intense.

"I will make you feel true pain and suffering." Sombra roared, he then summoned a scythe which was all black except for the blade which was crimson red and the sword Link saw in his chambers. "I won't be defeated by the pathetic likes of you."

Sombra then disappeared from Links vision. Link looked around trying to find where he went but couldn't find any trace of him.

Link then heard a popping sound behind him which instinctively made him raise his shield, this allowed him to block a downward slash from Sombras scythe but it hit the center which caused Links arm to recoil in pain but he held strong. Link then heard another pop behind him he quickly stood up on his two rear legs and got his sword out of his mouth which he then placed into his left hoof and blocked the sword. Link kept his balance while holding off both weapons from hitting him but his arms were shaking from how much force was being pushed on to him. Link then was sent flying forward into the wall which caused it to make a small crater. Link stabbed his sword into the ground and got up while trying to maintain his balance on two hooves. He looked up to see Sombra with smoke coming out of his horn.

"Give up and I'll make your death a quick and painful one." Sombra demanded.

Link placed his sword back in his mouth and got back in his battle stance. Sombra growled before he teleported again. Link however was ready for him this time.

Link hearing the popping sound again swung his sword faster to the right blocking Sombra overhead slash with his sword. Sombra then began to attack Link with a barrage of sword strikes which he managed to block but gave him no time to counter attack. Link then rolled back dodging a swing of his scythe. Sombra horn then began to glow Link waited for something to happen but saw nothing came. Link then looked down for a split second and saw many multiple shadows shaped like swords. Link looked up and saw many small black crystal swords hovering above him.

Link looked back at Sombra who had a sadistic smile on his face, his horn glowed again and the swords had started to come down on Link. Link seeing the swords coming at him got into position for a spin attack. Once his sword changed to blue he released the spin attack managing to destroy half the swords and nearly hitting Sombra luckily Link could still use the charged spin attack even if the shield was still up. Link seeing he didn't have enough time to destroy the other half he began to dodge each oncoming sword. Some swords had still manage to cut Link but he managed to dodge the barrage of swords without taking too much damage.

Sombra seeing this was not working decided to to grow crystals under him to impale Link. Link still dodging the swords didn't notice the the ground cracking beneath him. When Link jumped back dodging another sword a sharp crystal pillar shot out and managed to cut the left side of Links torso. Link stepped back to avoid but suddenly another shot up from the ground. Link rolled to the forward dodging it but more kept coming. Link was trying his best to dodge each one but each one managed to hit him even if they barely caused any real pain. Link needed to even the fight and cause some damage to Sombra. Link quickly pulling out farores wind. He then felt his body become a alot more faster.

Sombra anger was reaching his peak Link was still standing dodging all of his attacks. Deciding now was the perfect time to strike he went into the floor and charged at Link. Once behind him he emerged from the floor and raised his sword and scythe ready to slash at him. Before Sombra had the chance to strike Link vanished.

Sombra started wide eyed at where Link used to be looked around searching for the stallion who suddenly teleported. Suddenly he felt a presence behind him. He turned his head to see Link above him with his sword all the way behind him ready to slash at Sombra. Sombra was surprised for a second but grinned and stood still for the oncoming attack. Link then brought his sword down at Sombras back but instead of cutting him it went right through. Link landed on the ground but his face showed confusion.

Sombra quickly turned around and hooked his right hoof and made contact with Link jaw. The strength of the punch was enough to send Link flying until he smashed through the throne and wall and onto the balcony. Link was on floor and started to cough out blood. It was obvious he was losing the fight.

"You're a lot more resilient than I assumed that punch was strong enough to rip a frost dragons head clean off." Sombra spoke as he looked down at Link. "Well you'll have to break sometime."

Link tried to swing at Sombras face but it went right through him. Link tried again, trying to figure out why he wasn't able to hurt Sombra. Their battle from three days ago Link managed to caused hurt Sombra with almost every attack but now he couldn't even hit him once. He had to think, what did he do before that he's not doing now.

Sombra merely looked at Link with a bored face. "You still haven't realized it, it's time you learned that a simple pony as yourself can not defeat me." Sombra then raised his hoof and slammed it down at the back of Links head causing the balcony floor to crack. "I don't know how you manage to damage me three days ago but it seems you don't even know how as, you managed to hold up well but in the end you failed." Sombra then raised his sword and slashed Link right above where his heart is. Link grunted in pain barely managing to not scream in pain.

Sombra raised his sword again and slashed at the same spot but in a different direction. Now above Link were two gashes making a X above his heart. Somba raised his sword high above him ready to finish the stallion. "Any last words before your demise?" Sombra said to the near death stallion.

Link however remained silent he had something planned he just needed to get it ready. Sombra shrugged and brought his sword and aimed it directly at Links heart.

"Very well, this is goodbye Link." Sombra began. "You managed to be a major thorn in my side but now I have the pleasure of riding you from this world." Sombra was ready to bring down the sword but then felt a huge amount of his pain in his chest. Dropping his sword from his levitation Sombra moved his hooves toward the cause of his pain. Sombra looked down and saw an arrow was piercing through his chest. Sombra removed the sword with his magic.

Sombra then felt his body being slashed at once. Sombra winced in pain and saw that he had many small cuts around his body some even being burned. Sombra then heard something charging behind him. He quickly turned around but as he did something slash at this chest. Sombra took a few steps back and looked up to see Link barely standing with his sword.

Link realizing that his magic was what he used to gain the upper hand on Sombra last time. he charged up one of his his arrows to ake it a light arrow to stab Sombra. Once doing that Sombra was distanced enough for Link to get his sword. Link then charged up his sword to unleash a fully powered spin attack to damage Sombra even more. Now with the knowledge needed to defeat Sombra, Link knew that the battle would now go in his favor. He just hoped the crystal ponies could survive without his shield

"How are you able to hurt me?" Sombra growled in anger and confusion. "I should be completely immune to your attacks. Only something equal to alicorn magic is able to hurt me."

"Then I guess fairy magic is what it takes to beat you." Link said, now confident in his ability to win.

Link then charged at Sombra again but a pillar rose from the balcony floor making Link run head first into it dropping his sword. The pillar then shattered as Sombra held his scythe in his levitation ready to slash at Link. Link rolled back while simultaneously grabbing his sword with his mouth. Sombra then levitated the broken shards of the pillar and fired them at Link to distract him.

Link raised his shield blocking the shards and noticed Sombra moving through the ground like a shadow. Sombra then arose behind Link with his scythe in both his hooves ready to bring it down on Link. Link spun around and block the strike from his scythe with his shield but felt the recoil in his arm which caused even more pain. Sombra created another pillar smashing into Link stomach making him lose his breath and drop his shield, Sombra Then swung his scythe again but Link pushed with his hooves and managed to jump back, the scythe leaving a small wound on Links face.

Link quickly pulled out his clawshot and fired it at Sombra, who didn't realize the oncoming weapon latch on to him. Link then was quickly pulled toward Sombra. Link then quickly turned around and brought his rear legs to Sombra chest which caused him to lose his breath. Link then jumped off his chest and in a quick maneuver pulled out his bow he placed an arrow on it and charged it with light magic and fired it at Sombra chest. Sombra however brought up a shield but when the arrow made impact it exploded.

Link landed back on the ground and stared at Sombra. He can't attack Sombra because of his horn, Link needed to get rid of it fast and permanently. Link using farores wind again he quickly gained a large amount and sped towards Sombra. Sombra seeing Link coming towards him raised a pillar to collide with him. Link however dodged the pillar Sombra kept trying to hit Link but he missed him every time. he was too distracted to realize that Link was now in front of him His sword glowing a red color. Link slashed upwards not going for Sombra himself but his horn. The slash from the sword sliced the horn clean off.

GRAHHHHHHHH. Sombra screamed in agony as he fell to the floor and held the stump where his horn used to be. He tried to levitate his sword and scythe but couldn't move them a inch. He looked down at where his horn was he tried reach for it, if he could just grab it he could reattach like before, but a hoof suddenly stepped on it. He looked up to see Link with his hoof on his horn he then picked up his horn got into a throwing position and tossed the horn out far into the empire. Soon the crystal shield covering the empire shattered revealing the night sky. Sombra was furious now with his horn gone he grew even more enraged.

Sombra then began to stand up on his hooves breathing very heavily. Sombra went and picked up his sword with his mouth not caring that the sharp crystals were stabbing his mouth causing blood to flow out.

Link and Sombra stared each other down then charged at each other. Their swords clashed and was now a contest of strength as they began pushing each others blade harder to gain the upper hand. Link prevailed and pushed Sombra back. Sombra lost his balance and was open to Links attack. Link went in and charged his magic until his sword glowed blue he then slashed Sombra three times, each leaving three blue slash mark on his chest.

Sombra jumped back to avoid anymore slashes. He growled and charged at Link and swung his sword at him. Link countered with a swing of his own, making the blade clash. Each swordsmen kept clashing with their blades both trying to get a opening to attack. Sombra swung hard at one of Links slashes which caused him to lose his balance seeing his chance Sombra slashed at Links chest making a large gash.

Link stepped back and started to breath very heavily. He and Sombra were both very weak, it came down to who would held out the longest.

Link charged again and started to slash at Sombra very fast. Sombra managed to block all of Links strikes. Link tried getting behind him or to the side of him but no matter where Link moved to attack Sombra was already blocking his assault.

Sombra then pushed Link back with a hard swing from his sword. He then jumped in the air and brought his sword in a downward slash at Link who blocked it with his sword, but caused his legs falter. Sombra then grabbed Links head and slammed it on the balcony floor. Link got up and rolled to the side avoiding a stab from Sombra. Link then rolled forward and charging his magic he slashed upward cutting Sombra chest and and the bottom of his chin. Sombra was launched upward and landed on his back. Link seeing his chance to end this. He charged his sword till it was glowing red. Link jumped in the air where his sword extended in length. Link then slammed down the sword in the cracked part of Sombras chest.

He screamed in agony and pain. Link then back flipped and turned around. He grabbed his sword with his left hoof, he then swung his sword right, left, then spun it in a circle twice, and sheathed it. Link then began to walk away till he heard shuffling behind him. He turned around and couldn't believe it. Sombra was getting back up even after the beating he gave him. Link went to reach for his sword but Sombra had begun talking.

I think it's time I ended this. Sombra said breathing heavily. His stubbed horn then began to glow the bubbly purple color. Link then saw that the balcony was shining a black color. He looked behind him and saw a black heart was floating towards Sombra. I ma-y not h-av-e eno-ug-h ener-gy to rul-e equ-st-ria .He barely got out. But I h-av-e eno-u-gh to en-d this. Suddenly the heart began glowing darker.

Before Link had time to realize the heart shot a beam and hit him directly. Link head suddenly began to hurt. He held his head and fell to the floor holding his head hoping the pain would go away with both his hooves Links eyes then became just like Sombras and after that he blacked out.

Hero's Nightmare,Kings Downfall, And A Empires Freedom

Link soon began to open his eyes but covered them when they were hit by the harsh sunlight. Links then suddenly sat up and open his eyes. He looked around the area he was and saw that he was no longer in the crystal empire but a large grassy field.

"What the, where am I." Link muttered to himself. "I was just at the Crystal empire fighting Sombra but where am I now?"

Link rubbed his face when he noticed something about his appendage, it was a hand. Link stared wide eyed at the familiar appendage on him and wondered what happened. Link looked at his whole body to see that he was back in his old body. He sighed in relief to be back to normal but what about the crystal empire, Sombra, and the ponies were they all just a dream. Link shook his head maybe it was but right now he needed to figure out where he was.

Link stood up and looked around the field until he saw something familiar in the distance. A large mountain with a smoke ring around it. Link only knew of one mountain that could have that.

"I'm back in Hyrule." Link whispered to himself. "I'm home." Link smiled remembering seeing his old home land has not changed. Link soon began walking towards death mountain. It's been ten years since he's seen Zelda she'll be surprised to see him back after so long.

As Link neared the castle he saw that dark clouds were beginning to fill the sky. Link began running toward the castle in order to get some cover from the rain. Link soon crossed the bridge and just in time as it started closing. Link felt the drops of rain start falling. He sighed guess he couldn't see Zelda today. Link decided to rest in one of the inns they have here. Link soon began toward the market area, on the way he saw a guard who he waved to but the guard glared hard at him. Link lowered his hand and scratched his head in confusion, did that guard seem angry that he was here.

Link shook his head and continued walking, he however didn't notice another guard come out from a building and soon the two began following him. Link continued walking through the castle town while having his shield over his head to cover him from some of the rain. Link sighed his luck wasn't good these past few days but hopefully something good will happen soon. Link soon reached the market area and was by the fountain. He remembered this place, this is were he first met Zelda. Link sighed he always did get lost in the castle town when he was younger it seems it wasn't so different here and now. Link then felt something wrong he looked behind him to see a pair of guards were glaring at him.

Link wondered what was going on when more guards had started appearing. Link looked around the area and saw that many guards formed a circle around him. The circle opened up and someone familiar appeared. It was princess Zelda.

Link smiled at seeing his old friend after all these years. Link decided to go and greet her.

"Hey Zelda its been so long." Link was about to reach when suddenly multiple sword were pointed to his throat, this caused Link to stop in his tracks. Link looked to his left and right seeing the nearby guards having their swords on his throat Link raised his arms defensively.

"Hey calm down you guys its me Link." Link tried to calm the guards nerves but they kept their swords toward his throat. "Zelda can you please tell the guards to calm down its just me."

"Silence." Zelda snapped at Link who was taken aback. "Link you are under arrest for committing attempted genocide of the goron, and the zora tribes, and the burning of Kakariko village which left no survivors." The punishment for these crimes is death. Zelda then summoned a rapier and thrust it at Link who was barely able to dodge it.

"What, Zelda you're talking crazy I never did any of that you know I never would." Link then barely dodged a swing from one of the guards sword. "I've been gone for ten years I never done anything like that"

"Silence a criminal such as yourself has no right to speak." Zelda yelled at Link then raised her sword in the air and pointed it at Link. "Guards kill the criminal that stands before us and do not let him escape." Soon every guard surrounding Link charged at him at once. Link tried to look for some way to escape but couldn't find anything he could use. Link closed his eyes waiting for the pain from the weapons to come but after a few second nothing happened. He opened his eyes and couldn't believe the sight all the guards laid motionless on the ground each with a large slash mark oozing out blood. Link looked up and couldn't believe the sight in front of him. There holding Zelda lifeless body by her neck and a sword through his chest was him but at the same time wasn't. The lookalike in front of him wore a black tunic and had silver hair his eyes a crimson red color. Soon the doppelganger removed the sword and threw Zelda lifeless body to the ground. He then turned and faced towards Link with a unnerving smile.

"Well what do we have here." The lookalike said. "The famous hero of time comes home after so many years of being gone and all he gets is a order to have him dead. I got to say this has to be the worst homecoming party ever. The doppelganger soon began to walk towards Link. I gotta say that felt real good what you and I did killing all these guards and the princess."

Link was shocked to hear what the doppelganger was saying but soon that shock turned into anger. "What the hell are you talking about I didn't do any of this and just who are you anyways."

"Aw come on Link don't hurt my feelings like that I mean we're practically related but ok i'll introduce myself." The doppelganger did a mock bow and raised his head up to look at Link. "My name is Dark Link you're dark side. And of course you did this Link while it wasn't directly you it was still you in the end. Dark Link then began to chuckle. You know what let me start from the beginning."

"I represent everything that you aren't in other words every negative thing about you. While you are the selfless hero who would face anything and anyone to help people, I am the one who rather be the one to kill them. Link the thing about you is that you may have killed plenty of monsters but you never really took another human being or any other tribes life. Heck you didn't kill Ganondorf you just had the sages help and sealed him away and Twinrova well they weren't really human more like demons. What I'm saying Link is that even though you never really killed another human being you always wanted to. I mean why not you do some much for these damn people but in the end what do you get in return nothing, not a single bit of praise or admiration once you helped them they forget all about you. Whenever they have a problem they can do themselves they always expected you to do it. I mean seriously why should the hero of time even help a bunch of carpenters that got themselves trapped in a Woman only fortress."

"You hated it all but you hid it deep down inside you because that wasn't you, you're the selfless hero who couldn't hate anyone so you hid that hate somewhere dark and that dark place was me. I am everything you don't want. You're hate for the people of Hyrule and other lands, the pride that just shows how great you are but you don't believe it because it could change you for the worse, and best of all your want to kill innocent lives. I mean seriously I never seen someone want to kill anyone so badly. Lets check the list." Dark Link then raised his hand.

"There's the goddesses who choose you to be the hero even though you wanted to live a perfectly normal life, The six sages for half of them who happened to be friends of yours leaving you behind to be normal while they stayed in there little chamber ignoring you, Princess Zelda who you thought would be a good friend of yours till the end but was just something to help keep her Kingdom in peace, and lets not forget the best one of all Navi the fairy companion who stayed with you throughout you're whole adventure but just abandoned you without a reason and made you waste ten years of you're life looking for her sorry ass. And you want to know why she left you its quiet funny actually. Don't you remember how after a fairy fulfills its duty it disappears and dies in peace knowing it accomplished it goal. Well her little goal was to make sure that you didn't screw up on you're quest. And when it was all over she just abandon you because she just wanted you waste you're life all for a lost cause and that cause was finding her so that you wouldn't be alone. If she had just told you she was dying you could have moved on and made some new friends but I guess that's not what she wanted. She just wanted you to be miserable."

Dark Link chuckled at the look on Links face. It looked like he didn't want to believe it but with his influence he would be under his control very soon.

So after spending part of your life searching for a friend who was dead and finding her nowhere in the world. You wanted someone to pay for you're pain to make people suffer like you did but you hid those emotions deep down inside of you not wanting them to come out. I can however do all that for you Link I can make other people suffer like you did all you have to do is give me control over you're body. And when you're satisfied you can have your body back and have a clean slate because you weren't the one who did that it was all me. So Link do we have a deal I take control of your body and make everyone suffer and you wouldn't be the cause of it.

Dark Link brought his hand up in a hand shaking gesture. Link stared at the hand wondering what he was going to do. If what he said was true then maybe people had the right to suffer like he did. Link slowly began to raise his hand and went to grab Dark Links who had a evil grin plastered on his face. As Link was about to grab it something began glowing. Link looked down and saw that the triforce of courage was shining bright. Link then snapped back to normal and saw Dark Link covering his eyes. Link seeing his dark half was blinded drew his sword and stabbed him in the chest. Dark Link gasped as he felt the sword go through his body and coughed out a bit of blood. He gripped the sword and looked up to see Link face.

"You almost had me there for a minute I was actually willing to go along with this stupid plan of yours. Listen here and listen good. I don't believe a damn word you said. I would never kill innocent lives and I never will. Zelda and the sages they all had a job to do. And even if I can't see them ever again they will always be my friends. Navi may have left me and it is possible she died after our adventure but she did give the one thing I always wanted to do. I finally got to travel the world and that's the best thing a friend could do. Now I'm done with you and you better hope I don't see you again." Link then brought his foot up and kicked Dark Link in the stomach so hard that he was launched back and crashed through a wall of a house.

Link sheathed his sword and saw that the world was distorting. Soon Link was covered in a light and soon disappeared leaving behind the fake hyrule town which began disappearing. Dark Link step through the hole and coughed out some blood. He then slammed his fist into the house which caused it to crack.

"Dammit I was so close." Dark Link grunted still hurt from the wound, even though this nightmare world Link woke up in was fake Dark Link was very much real. "I'll get him one day and once I do I will be in control of this body and they will see his true nature they will see the real Link." Dark Link soon began to chuckle as the dream world began to disappear into darkness.

Link soon began to open his eyes and saw that he was back on the balcony of the castle. Link slowly got up on his hooves and looked up and saw that Sombra was against the railing with his eyes closed, this was Links chance. Picking up his sword Link raised it with his right hoof and started charging it with magic but stopped. He then lowered his sword.

'What am I thinking, if it didn't work before what makes me think it will work now.' Link thought to himself. He then noticed the crystal heart was right next to him. Link then remembered something.

The crystal heart was the key to stopping Sombra and in the note it said it could kill him. its filled with negative energy so I need positive energy to counter it. Link looked to see the crystal heart next to Sombra Link grabbed it and placed on his back his sword strap keeping it in place. Link charged up his sword and charged at Sombra. In one swift motion Link stabbed Sombra. Sombra eyes were quickly opened as he released a grunt of pain. Sombra looked up and soon his eyes widen at the one stabbing him

"Impossible how did you escape!?" Sombra managed to choke out. "The spell I used on you combined with the negative energy of the crystal heart should have you living a never ending nightmare."

"I simple nightmare isn't what it takes to beat me Sombra you're going to have to try harder than that if you want to kill me." Link said. "Now we're going on a little trip." Link then grabbed Sombra by his neck and removed his sword and jumped off the balcony.

Link kept his hoof on Sombra throat keeping him on the bottom, he then raised his sword which was charged with magic and began to repeatedly stab Sombra in the chest. Link each time in a different area, Sombra tried to do something to stop him but each stab was making him weaker and losing more and more blood. Soon the two crashed into the ground of the empire which caused large spiderweb cracking to form and Sombra armor soon began to break apart showing a large crack in the center of his chest. Link seeing this raised his sword one last time and stabbed Sombra in the center of the crack. Sombra roared in pain as pain surged throughout his whole body.

Link kept his sword embedded in Sombras chest knowing he wouldn't be getting up anytime soon. Link then noticed the group of ponies that he saved from the dungeon were right in front of him with looks ranging from amazement, disgust or fear. Link then grabbed the crystal heart and threw it at the group.

Twilight seeing that Link threw the heart grabbed it with her magic. She stared as the heart as it glowed its dark black color.

"Get the heart to the crystal ponies." Link yelled. "I'll hold him back as long as I can." Twilight nodded and she along with her friends went to go find Cadence and Shining Armor. Link sighed in relief but felt pain in his stomach as he was launched up in the air along with his sword. Link landed with a thud and slowly raised his back to see Sombra slowly getting up.

"You think you can defeat me that easily." Sombra said trying to bring himself back up but fell down on his back. "I am this empire rightful king. I took control of this empire a thousand years ago. I won't have a damn colt like you take away my kingdom. I refuse to believe that a simple earth pony could ever defeat me. I won't I will not accept it. "

Link looked at Sombra noting how he was talking. He is in denial right now. He doesn't realized that it is all over that he had lost. Link almost felt pity at how the false king has fallen but right now he doesn't care. Link soon noticed a bright light in the distance. Link looked up and saw that the crystal heart was rising in the air.

raise your sword.

Link looked around looking for the voice that just spoke but found no one. He looked at his sword and raised it high above his head. Link then felt a powerful surge of power. His gilded sword was now glowing a blue color and he noticed that the triforce of courage was on his left hoof glowing its signature gold color.

Link then jumped into the air and brought his sword behind his head in a stabbing position and brought it down on Sombra chest making him roar in pain. Soon the stab mark from Links final attack began cracking his entire body like he was made of glass. Cracks then began to cover his whole body. A bright light suddenly appeared making Link close his eyes. When the light was gone Link opened his eyes but found that Sombra was no where to be seen. The light from Links sword soon began to disappear, once it was gone he swung it right and left spun it around twice and sheathed it.

Link looked around seeing the dark colors of the empire were changing back to their original colors. Link soon noticed that his coat was shining just like a crystal. He liked how it looked but the sight of his torn and burnt tunic made it less appealing. Link sighed he had worn this same tunic since he was a child but now it looked beyond any repair. He removed the tunic and put it in his item pouch. After that Link smiled looking at the shining empire. Now that he's done all that he can to help Link made his way out of the empire. He still needed to find a way to turn back to normal and to get home to Hyrule.

Links vision then was filled with blue which caused him to yelp in surprise and fall back.

"And where do you think you're going." A pink pony with a really bubbly mane said. "You're not going to miss out on the party are you?"

Link looked up to see that it was the pink pony he saved from the dungeon he noticed that her coat was glowing like a crystal to."I, um, really don't do parties not really my things." Link said while rubbing the back of his head. "I'm just gonna go now if you don't mind." Link got up and walked around the pony but felt his hoof grabbed and was suddenly being pulled away and by pulled he was dragged across the ground.

"Oh no you're not you are going to stay here and enjoy the party with all of us." The pony said, then started pulling towards somewhere really fast. "And I can't wait to introduce you to all my friends I know we met before in the dungeon when you saved us but we never really got a chance to talk and ohmygosh I never learned your name mines Pinkie Pie but you can call me Pinkie. So what's your name"

Link was really confused at how fast this pony was talking. He sighed there doesn't seem any way for him to get out of this one. "It's Link." He answered, still being dragged by Pinkie until they both stopped in front of the same group of ponies Link saved from the castle dungeon. Link looked up to see that Twilight was looking apologetic

"Sorry about Pinkie she can be a little energetic." She said. "Here let me help you up."

"Its alright no harm done." Link said, as Twilight brought him back to his hooves but as soon as he did he collapsed falling onto his knees. Link soon began to feel the aftermath of his battle with Sombra. Link always managed to fight off the pain during battles but after that's when they really started to hurt.

Hang on a second. Link said raising a hoof thinking he was raising one finger in a wait motion. Link then reached for his item pouch. Link then pulled out a red potion and drank half its contents. Soon almost all of his injuries began to heal only leaving a few scorch mark and a barely visible scar over his heart. The girls were all surprised to see him heal all his injuries in a instant.

Link wiped his mouth and breath out a puff of red smoke then smiled. So I think introductions are in order just call me Link. Twilight came up and smiled.

"My names Twilight Sparkle and these are my friends." She pointed toward the group and started at Pinkie. 'Of course you met Pinkie, this is Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, And Fluttershy. She pointed to the rest of her friends." Link smiled and nodded remembering each of their names.

'Well I guess its nice to properly meet all of you. Link said. We just seen each other around the Empire and we never really did introduce ourselves.

Well Its nice to finally meet the pony who just saved the crystal empire single hoofed. Twilight said with a bit of sadness but went unnoticed by everypony but Link. I got to say you look familiar.

Link began to sweat a bit hoping she didn't remember that he basically snuck into the castle and listened in on her private conversation with one of its rulers. "Didn't we meet here in the empire, you know I was the one not talking to you at all." Link replied hoping that was she remembered.

Before Twilight had a chance to reply Rainbow butted in. Yeah and you're the guy who ditched me in a middle of a joust. Rainbow said poking him in the chest. "I still want that rematch and there is no way you're getting out of this one."

Link nodded and looked around seeing that the crystal fair was being set back up he barely had time to enjoy with Sombra breaking into the empire. I guess I could stay for a bit. Link admitted, then was pulled into a hug.

"Great come I can show you all the fun stands and games that there are and I have to show you my new flugelhorn." Pinkie said as she sped away with Link to show him around the fair. The girls all giggled at Pinkie antics.

Soon they all separated to go enjoy the fair. The empire was free and they were going to enjoy it.

In a dark alley in the empire laid a red colored horn. The horn began to glow and soon a shadow formed from it.

"Twice. The shadow muttered. Twice I have lost control over my empire and bested in combat. And this time to a damn earth pony!" The shadow roared in its thoughts.

The shadow soon calmed down. "It does not matter now. I was not at my full power against Link but I shall return and I will take back my Empire and this time nopony will be able to stop me."

"I have something else planned for you Sombra." A voice called out from behind the horn. Sombra didn't have a chance to see who the voice belonged to before he was engulfed in a bright light.

The figure looked out the alley to see the crystal ponies enjoying there time at the crystal fair. The figure smiled and sighed.

"Link your quest is far from over." The figure said speaking to them self. You may have saved this empire but you still have much to do in this land. Evil roams this land and you are destined to put a end to it all but you cannot do it alone. The figure then looked to the sky. The greatest evil you will face in this land cannot be defeated alone you need all the help that you can get. Soon the figure disappeared leaving no sign of her ever being there.

Soon a bright red light lite up the alleyway. On the floor laid a creature of some kind which was glowing black with the edges being red and sported a pair of crystal wings. Once the creature would awake it would be very angry at this change.

Jail Time and Explanations

Link sat by the crystal heart as he watched each and every stand being brought down. The crystal fair ended only moments ago and now everypony was cleaning up. Link wanted to help but the others told him to sit back so that none of his injuries would open up again. Link sighed while he was glad he had his potions he had already gone through all of them and in his last bottle was a single fairy which he could use another time. If he was still in his old body he wouldn't have got so hurt in the process of saving the empire.

Link then heard someone walking up to him he turned his head to see Shining Armor walking up to him. He sat next to Link and watched the ponies do their work. Link wondered what he wanted but decided to wait until he said something.

"Look like we both can't help with the cleanup." Shining spoke. "I really don't like the idea of helping out especially since I'm going to be ruling the empire with Cadence. I guess it does make sense after what king Sombra did but I feel like I should still help.

"What happened to you." Link asked looking at the unicorn next to him. "You look fine to me, I don't see why you can't help."

"Well when I was helping Cadence shield the empire from Sombra he used a spell which did some messed up stuff with my head knocking me out for the day. I just woke up when you saved the empire, thanks by the way." Shining explained.

Link waved off the compliment and smiled. "Not the first time I saved a empire or town. I'm just glad that I was able to help." Link said with a smile.

"Well I'll take your word for it, after all if you saved the empire all on your own who knows what else you did." Shining said. "Where did you learn how to use a sword by the way, I've heard of anypony wielding one so expertly?"

"Well I knew how to use a sword since I was around twelve and well I became a expert at using it around the same time." Link answered Shining question. Link looked at Shining and saw that he had a look of skepticism. "What its true."

Shining shook his head and sighed. "Well it doesn't really matter, what I'm wondering is what you're going to do now that you saved the empire?"

Link opened his mouth to reply but no words came out. Link closed both his mouth and eyes and began thinking. 'He's right what am I suppose to do now. I still have no idea where I am or how I'm suppose to get back to Hyrule.'

Shining looked at how Link was deep in thought and wondered if he actually had somewhere to go. Before Shining could help the two were approached by Cadence, Twilight, and her friends. Shining nudged Link who opened his eyes and saw the mares in front of him.

The two stood up and looked around to see that the streets were all cleaned up. Both stallions were surprised they didn't notice them finish cleaning up.

"Well it looks like we all did it the empire is safe, and the crystal ponies are all back to normal." Cadence said to the group. She then looked at Link. "And Link we can't thank you enough for what you did for the empire."

Link blushed in embarrassment he wasn't really one to enjoy other peoples compliments he usually paid them no mind. Link smiled and bowed. "I am glad that I was of assistance to your empire princess and would gladly save it again if any other evil befell it." Link said then stood up straight.

The ponies all smiled at Link and laughed a bit at his formality. Soon the group of mares along with Shining and Cadence began making their way out of the empire. Link watched them go and wondered what he was to do now. He then remembered that he was imprisoned for breaking into the castle. He sighed maybe some time in the dungeon would give him some time to think. The only problem is Link didn't know where he was and how to get back.

Link decided that at this time he would follow his favorite quote. "Leave luck to heaven". Link soon made his way out of the empire. Link soon was walking along the path out of the empire and was too preoccupied with his thoughts to realize a familiar sensation covering his body. Before he realized it Link had disappeared and was gone from the empire.

Link fell to the floor with a thud hitting his head against the concrete floor. Link sat up and rubbed his head and looked to see where he was. Link saw that he was inside a cell. Link surveyed the area to see that the cell looked very familiar. Link then heard voices come from another room.

"Hast thou found the criminal yet?" He heard a voice who he recognized was Luna.

"Not yet your highness." He heard another voice say. Link had to guess it was a guard of some sort. "We have searched all over Canterlot but we haven't found a single trace of him."

"We thank thou for the report." Luna said. "Continue with the search, I shall see if thither is any thing in his cell that couldst betoken us whence he hath went."

Soon Link heard the door open and close, he decided to just wait for Luna to see that he has returned to his cell. Once Luna came into to view she saw Link sitting in his cell with a neutral look on his face. Her eyes widen before they narrowed her horn soon began glowing and Link felt his body float in midair and his face was brought toward the cell bars.

"So thou returned to thy cell." Luna said with a threatening tone in her voice. "How did thou escape?

"Next time when you throw some one in a cell make sure to take all of their items." Link replied with a bored look on his face. "Don't worry you're not the first one to make this mistake and you won't be the last."

Luna faltered a bit and Link could see that she was blushing but her stoic face returned. "Thou doth know that escaping from thy imprisonment is going to make thy stay here much longer." Luna said.

Link tried to shrug his shoulders but couldn't to signify that he didn't care but found they were still stuck in Luna magical grip. "I'm fine with that." Link replied. "I really have nothing to do at the moment, this would give me time to think on what to do next."

Luna looked at Link with confused look but soon her horn stopped glowing and Link fell to the floor. "We shall tell thou thy punishment later." Luna told Link. "Until then ye are to stay hither and thou best know not and try to escape again. Unless thou know what's best to disobey your princess."

Link simply nodded and watched as Luna left and sighed. She forgot to take his weapons again, when will anyone learn. Link removed his sword and shield and placed them in a spot next to him. Link then looked at his body surveying the damage he had and what else had changed. Link looked all around his body to see that his scars were well hidden behind the fur of his coat and only a few were visible.

After that Link decided to see his wings which he learned about yesterday. Link wondered how they worked and tried moving them around and it was tougher then it looked. After ten minutes of simply trying to move them Link decided to stop he would just have to figure out how to use them another day.

Link continued to inspect his body and saw the mark that he had on his flank. Link saw that it was a picture of the triforce with the triforce of power and wisdom a dark brown color while the triforce of courage was bright gold in the center of the triforce was the ocarina of time and he saw a small picture of the master sword going right through the triforce of power. Link wondered what these strange markings he had seen on ponies meant but decided to figure it out later.

Link looked at the others cells wondering if anyone was in them. He looked from cell to cell and found someone was in the cell in front of him though from the looks of it he was asleep. Link barely made out his features but managed to see that his coat was a dark brown color much darker than Links and his mane was tied up in a ponytail and his face and neck was covered in a scarf Link also noticed something on his left hoof but couldn't make it out in the dark.

Link laid on his back and soon closed his eyes. The day had been tiring and saving a empire made the hero tired he deserved a bit of rest. Soon Link fell asleep and began to dream

Link opened his eyes to see that he was back in the Crystal empire. He wondered what was going only to realize that he must be dreaming. Link looked around the empire seeing the beauty it held and watched as the light beamed out of the beacon on top of the castle. Link suddenly saw two ponies walking down the street of the empire. The one on the right was a grey color with a horn a black mane and blue colored eyes the mark on his flank depicted a sword made of blue crystal. The other pony however was covered in a shadow the only thing Link could make out were a red coat and a pair of strangely colored wings. His head and the lower torso however was covered up preventing Link from seeing the rest of him.

He wondered why that pony was covered up but soon the scene started to change. Link was now standing in a large area surrounded by trees. Link heard rustling behind and he turned around to see the same two ponies from before the grey one was levitating a sword that looked exactly like the one on his flank. The two soon went through the bush and disappeared from Link sight.

Link wondered where they went followed the two and passed the bush they went through. When Link arrived he gaped as he saw a large stairway going underground. Link saw that the two ponies were going down the stairs. Link wanted to follow them to find out where they were going but a sudden pain in his head prevented him from going anywhere. Link fell to the floor clutching his head and grinding his teeth as he tried to withstand the pain.

Before Link passes out a shadow jumped out of the hole leading underground and roared before disappearing.

Link sat up straight and was breathing hard. He felt sweat falling through his coat and his breaths were heavier each time he breathed. Link soon felt his breath return to normal and he calmed down he looked around to see not much has changed. Link sighed and shook his head but that only caused him to feel pain. Link grabbed his head with his right hoof and massaged it to try and ease the pain.

Link soon heard the door leading into the dungeon open. Link kept massaging his head trying to ease the pain and wondering who was coming. Soon a pony in gold armor came up to Link cell.

"The Princess is ready to speak with you." The guard said before he opened Links door. Link yawned and got up oh his hooves he grabbed his sword and shield and made his way out the cell. Link waited for the guard to close the cell and to lead him. Once the guard was done locking his cell he turned and looked at Link.

"Follow me and remain silent." The guard commanded. The guard then turned around and walk towards the exit Link soon began to follow him. Once both Link and the guard left the dungeon they soon both made their way toward where the princess was waiting for him. Link decided to take a look around the castle and saw that many guards were standing guard in the halls of the castle. Link wondered how he didn't encounter any when he was here last time but decided not to dwell on it.

"So how long was I in my cell?" Link asked the guard. "My cell doesn't really have any windows, so I really don't know what time of day it is."

"You have been in your cell all night since you returned and it is currently two in the afternoon." The guard replied. "Now remain quiet."

Soon the two reached a large door the guard opened the door and motioned Link to go inside. Link nodded and walked through the door once inside Link heard the door close behind him. Link looked around the room to see that many glass windows were inside the room he looked at each of them to see that they were depicting different ponies. Link soon found a glass window depicting Twilight and her friends wearing a piece of jewelry and a light blasting a large dark looking pony. Another was showing Twilight and her friends with the same pieces of jewelry blasting the strange creature Link saw in the garden. Link was curious about these windows and what they meant.

Link soon heard someone clearing their throat he turned his head to see the familiar white pony he saw a few days ago. He looked at her and saw that she had a smile on her face meaning she wasn't annoyed that he was wasting her time look at the windows. Link soon walked over and stopped in front of the princess and made a bow. Once Link stood he stared at the princess waited for her to say something.

"It's nice to finally meet the pony my sister has been talking about." She began. "I swear any pony she finds wandering the castle she suspects something is wrong."

"Well to be fair I am carrying around a weapon which no one has taken from me as of yet and I did appear in your castle out of nowhere." Link replied not feeling awkward talking to the princess like any other person he had met other princesses who rather be spoken like they were normal people instead of royalty.

The pony smiled at Link response. "Yes I could see how that would be worrying but she knows that I can handle myself. Now can you tell me your name?"

Link nodded. "It's Link your majesty." Link replied. "And with all due respect may I ask for your name?"

The Princess nodded. "I am known as Princess Celestia." Celestia replied. "So Link may I ask where you are from and how you ended up in my castle?"

Link nodded. "I come from the land of Hyrule but for the past 10 years I have been travelling all over the world just yesterday I was in a forest when I was suddenly teleported. I first appeared in a frozen wasteland but then I was teleported again and ended up in your garden."

Celestia nodded at Link explanation. "I see, I must say in all my years of living I have never heard of any Hyrule. And from the look of your ears I suspect the ponies there are much different."

"I would say the same for Equestria I traveled all over the world." Link said. "Besides Hyrule like to keep to it self not many know of its existence."

Celestia raised a eyebrow at what Link said. "And why would that be?" Celestia asked. "I never heard of a land that would keep to itself instead of communicating with other lands."

Link rubbed the back of his head with his hoof. He wasn't sure he should reveal anything about Hyrule. Besides being a land filled with dangerous monsters it held the triforce and if any country learned of it wars would began just to gain control of its power. Link sighed from everything he has seen its possible he traveled into another world he should tell her part of the truth, he still couldn't be too trusting.

"Hyrule is a dangerous land monsters plague the land making it one of the most dangerous places to live." Link replied. Hyrule can handle itself but if any other land were to come into contact the monsters would surely killed them even if they came prepared."

Celestia was surprised by his answer she didn't realize that a place so dangerous could exist. "I see well it doesn't matter now I think we can let this whole sneaking into the castle behind us. I'll have a guard escort you out of the castle." Celestia smiled.

Link nodded. "I think that would be the best, I suppose i'll see myself out." Link was about to leave when he heard a door behind him open. He turned around to see who it was and saw that it was Twilight who had a surprised look on her face.

"Link what are you doing here?" Twilight asked surprised to see the stallion. "I thought you stayed behind at the crystal empire."

"Well I did but then remembered I had some time to serve." Link replied. "Anyways I was just on my out I guess it was nice seeing you again."

Link made his way out of the room leaving whatever business those two had to discuss. When Link left he was surprised to see the mares and Spike outside the door. The mares and Spike look to see Link walking out the door.

Before Link had a chance to say anything he felt his lungs being squeezed.

"Link I missed you so much even though we saw each other yesterday but still its great seeing you again." Pinkie said hugging Link even harder causing him to lose his breath.

"Pinkie I think you should let go of him he ain't lookin to well." Applejack said noticing Link face was turning blue.

Pinkie noticed this and let go. While Link was busy catching his breath Pinkie was making a big smile. "So Link what brings you to Canterlot and why were you talking with the princess oh do you work for a princess are you a sneaky undercover guard who goes to town to town stopping criminals from doing bad things or are you a escaped convict who escaped from jail and is on the run and wants to do something horrible to the princess." Pinkie said really fast which Link couldn't understand.

Once Link felt his breathing return to normal he mentally sighed. 'Sweet Nayru she has a tighter grip than a redead.' Link then looked at the mares all sitting and looking nervous especially Spike. 'I wonder what they're doing here.'

"So is there a reason you're all standing out here looking really nervous?" He asked the group. Applejack was the one who answered his question

"The thing is Link Twilight was sent to the Crystal empire to protect it and stop king Sombra from taking it back but since she failed and he took over the empire we don't know what princess Celestia might do. Applejack explained. The others each nodded confimring what she said and continued being nervous except for Pinkie who was smiling.

"I see, well I hope she'll be fine in the end." Link said. "Well I guess i'll be on my way." Link was about to walk away but felt a hoof on his shoulder. He turned around to see Pinkie with her grin still present.

"Oh no you don't Linky I just realized we don't know anything about you." Pinkie said. "I mean we never really talked or got to know each other and this is best time to."

Link wanted to protest but was already pulled up to one and the stairs and was sitting on it. The mares seemed less nervous when they heard Pinkie saying how they never talked and they were interested to learn more about the stallion that saved him. Link sighed if it help take their minds off Twilight he should talk till she was finished with her business.

Link spent the next ten minutes speaking with the mares answering any questions about him or asking something about them. He luckily only had to answer questions like where he grew up what he did and what he liked doing.

After a while the group heard the door open. They look towards it to see Twilight standing at the door. The mares were kept in suspense wondering if she failed or not.

Twilight jumped forward and with a smile. "I passed." She yelled out ending the suspense the mares began cheering for her while Spike ran up and gave her a hug. Link simply stayed back and smiled. He was glad she had passed her test but now he remembered he still had no idea where to go. Link sighed and got up and walked away from the group as they congratulated Twilight.

"Hey Link wait up." Link turned around and saw Twilight walking up to him. "Link I just wanted to say thanks for everything you did back at the empire. I don't know what would have happened if you weren't there."

Link simply smiled. "No need to say thanks Twilight and even if I wasn't the one who saved you i'm sure someone else would have came to the rescue."

"So Link what are you going to do now?" Twilight asked. Link stayed silent not really sure how to answer her question that he didn't have a answer for. Link began thinking of what to do until he heard the voice in his head again.

Go with Twilight and her friends stay with them until you can figure out what to do.Link thought about the advice the voice gave him. He wasn't sure why he wanted her to go with them specifically but it was the only option he had plus every time the voice gave him advice it always worked out in the end.

"Actually Twilight I was wondering do you know a good place to live?" Link asked. "I don't really know equstria that well and was wondering if you knew someplace for a while until I figure out a way back home."

Twilight smiled. "Why don't you come to Ponyville its a really great place to stay the ponies their are really friendly." Twilight suggested.

Link thought about but already knew his answer. "I think that will work lead the way to Ponyville." Link declared.

Twilight and the others soon began making their way towards the train station with Link following them. He had no idea what this town had in stored for him but knowing his life it was going to be anything but peaceful.

Celestia and Luna were on one of the balconies that had a view of Equstria more specifically Ponyville.

"So she succeeded in passing her test." Luna questioned her sister wondering exactly what happened.

Celestia sighed. "She learned the lesson about self sacrifice but there were some complications during her test." Celestia admitted

"Complications." Luna said, wondering what her sister meant. "What sort of complications."

"While she did find the crystal heart and trusted Spike to take it back, Sombra managed to get it back before Spike could return it to the crystal ponies."

Luna had a shocked expression on her face. "Sombra had succeeded in getting the crystal heart back then how did she succeed in saving the empire." Luna questioned.

"She told me it was the one called Link who saved the empire by freeing the crystal ponies and defeating Sombra in combat." Celestia replied.

"That stallion I hath found wandering our castle with a sword . Luna asked skeptical. "From the looks of it he was only a pegasus, If he were to even inflict pain onto Sombra he would needeth to at least be a alicorn ."

"I am as shocked as you are Luna but Twilight wouldn't lie about something like this." Celestia said. "Link is a strange one and I feel that he is not alone." Celestia told her sister.

"What doth thee mean sister." Luna asked wondering what was wrong with her sister. "Is he not by himself."

"No Luna didn't you feel it when you were near him." Celestia asked her sister who shook her head no. "Even though their is good within Link their are two evil sides within him. One who hungers for bloodshed and death, while the other while I sensed nothing it held a immense darkness."

"We see what doest this sayeth about this stallion, was it really best to just let him leave." Luna replied.

"I don't know but I think we should keep a eye on him. We don't know what he could do next and if he could defeat Sombra he must hold immense strength. Under any circumstances we cannot underestimate him." Celestia said with a serious tone in her voice.

Luna nodded she still didn't trust that stallion and these two different side made her much more suspicious of him. "We shalt keepeth a eye on him through his dreams just in case we could figure out anything."

Celestia sighed she wanted to trust this stallion but from the magical spike she sensed a few days ago the fact that he defeated Sombra made it seemed easy to trust him. When she sensed the two other beings within him she grew worried and from what she learned about this Hyrule he seemed to be a warrior with immense strength from a land corrupted by evil. She hoped nothing bad would happen to Twilight and her friends. Right now though she needed to focus on Twilights studies and until she was ready she couldn't learn more about Link and Hyrule.

Deep in the Canterlot dungeon held one of the most dangerous criminal Equestria ever knew. He had been locked away for ten years after attempting to use dark magic to gain more power. He was angered that he was stopped on his goal of becoming more powerful then the princesses. He hated them and wanted to gain more power than they could ever hope of achieving. He stood up and turned around then he brought up his hoof which was a blue color instead of brown like the rest of his coat and slammed it against the wall. It created a massive crack that spread across the entire wall even some of the other cells.

Soon the cracks were repaired as soon as they were there. He was angered he had all this power but it still wasn't enough. If he wanted to defeat the Princesses he would need more power but he was trapped in this cell. Though he did not care that he was trapped in this cell. If they added all this enchantments to keep him here they feared his power which they rightfully should.

He was adjusting his blue hoof when he sensed somepony behind him. He turned around aimed his blue hoof in front of a cloak pony whose features he couldn't see.

"Oh my and here I thought I snuck in here without making a sound." The cloak pony said. "You really are not a normal pony are you?"

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" The pony said while still pointing his hoof toward the cloaked pony.

"Now calm down Byrne we don't want that thing go-." The cloak pony didn't get a chance to finish when Byrnes hoof was launched which he dodged. The hoof crashed into the opposite wall before it retracted back into Byrnes arm. "Now that wasn't very nice."

"How do you know my name and what do you want?" Byrne said pointing his hoof back at the cloak pony. "Now answer me before I have to kill you."

The cloaked pony began chuckling which angered Byrne but soon stopped. "Well you see Byrne I would like to make a deal with you. Since the last pony I made a deal with failed me, I figured you would be the next best choice."

Bryne stopped pointing his hoof at the pony and turned around. "I'm not interested, go find somepony else to do your dirty work."

"Oh but I have a offer you can't refuse." The cloaked pony said. Byrne however ignored him. "I can give you the power to defeat both the princesses." Byrne stopped in his tracks when he heard the offer.

"What game are you playing here there is no way you have the power I seek." Bryne said with anger in his voice. "I should kill you for wasting my time." Before Byrne could say anything else he felt a change in pressure. Bryne turned around to see that the cloak pony had a orange aura around him. Byrne stared wide eyed the power he was putting out in the room, it was much more powerful then both of the princesses.

"Now that I have your attention this power could be yours and you only have to do one thing." He said. "You must kill a certain stallion my previous worker couldn't defeat. I however believe you have what it takes to kill him." The cloaked pony raised his hoof for Byrne to shake. So what do you say do we have a deal?

Byrne looked at the hoof and raised it up and connected it with the cloaked pony. He didn't work with anyone but he promised him the power he needs. The power to defeat both the princesses. "Very well and one stallion shall be no problem." Byrne said. "Now how will you get me out of here without alerting the princesses?"

"Now Byrne don't underestimate this stallion he is much stronger then what he appears to be." The cloaked pony warned Byrne before chuckling. "And don't worry about the princesses they will never know you are gone."

Soon the two stallions disappeared from the cell. A guard later came in to check on the one prisoner they had and saw that he was on the ground asleep. The guard nodded to himself and exited the dungeon once gone the image of Byrne flickered before going back to normal.
