equestria-28 days later

"Has it really been 28 days?" I asked, Time was hard to tell due to the boarded up windows.

"yeah it has" Spike said in a tone of depression, he was one of the first creatures I met when I ended up here, he was really understanding and let me into golden oaks right away, I asked him and the rest of the survivors what happened and they told me the story.

"It started in Ponyville, two scientists by the name of Doctor Whooves and Doctor Waste were trying to make a more convent way of curing poison joke, in their haste to deliver it they crossed it with the common cold thus making it contagious" said twilight, still with an look of unease on her face

"The cold mutated the cure, the cure became a virus that causes uncontrollable rage, we dubbed it the "rage virus"

I sighed, ever since I've been a brony I have always wanted to come to Equestria but now I'm here I realized that I made a huge mistake, Twilight said that the virus duplicates out of control and that if someone is infected you have between 10 to 20 seconds to kill them or they will infect you and the whole chain of events will start again. Looking through the dark I saw spike giving out breakfast, when he got to me he threw me a chocolate bar.

"supplies are running low" he said "the only edible things are sweets and ice cream" taking the bar i thanked him and dug in.

"I've noticed something about the infected" I said to spike.

"what's that" He asked

"They only roam at night" I said "we have been here for 28 days and its only at night I can hear their groans, that means if I can loosen one of these boards I can search through ponyville for supplies"

"WHAT! Are your crazy, even if you could get out without being spotted by the infected where would you go?" he asked, the mane 6 trotted over to where we were.

"what in the name of celestia are you talking about?" asked rainbow dash

"oh it's nothing"said spike "just a suicidal idea that josh had thought up"

"HEY! it's not suicidal,it could work"I said

"what was this idea?"twilight asked.

"I thought that seeing as the infected roam only at night that i could crawl through a window and hunt through ponyville in search for food and possibly got to sweet apple acres if there was enough time" I said in a matter of factually tone. That's when i saw spike's face twitch slightly before he burped a scroll out

"I'm guessing that was Pcelestia@scrollmail.dragon"I said stupidly, I instantly regretted as rainbow dash grabbed me and started yelling about nopony insulting the princess

"Ahahaha, teaching the human about the insults"said a voice that echoed through the room "you taught me that one when we first met didn't you misses dash" a painting that never used to be there showed discord, he grabbed the sides of the painting and pulled himself into the room

"not now discord" I said before I looked into the cyan Pegasus's eyes "sorry RD you know I blurt out random things that I don't mean"

"hey you two, shut up I was about to read this to everypony" said spike glaring daggers at us "anyway *ahem* To ponyville's survivors by now you have realized that I have put up a magic Jammer in order to prevent the infected from preforming simple spells, unfortunately this also means no uninfected unicorns can use the advanced spells so i sincerely apologize. also I must ask something of everypony, if you want to survive then you must make it to Canterlot castle, it is the most secure building in all of equestria, I know I leave an impossible task for the eight of you but is imperative that you reach Canterlot before the sunday after next, if I don't see you I will give up all hope, your's sincerely princess celestia"

"hey,why didn't she include me?" said the god of chaos.

"she most likely didn't know you were here" I reasoned "now that you are here though, could you help me get out? I need to find food"

"of course I can, stand back" discord said as he walked up to a window and ripped one of the boards off it, he then picked me up and helped me climb through the window.

"don't worry I'll be back before dark, If I'm not don't come looking for me" I said as I walked away from the library, using grass and two sticks i made myself a crucifix so that Christ was on my side even in this version of hell. picking up the pace I walked on the dirt path towards sweet apple acres. The farmhouse came into view and it was how I expected it to be, boarded up. Climbing over the knocked over wardrobe I looked around and saw a door shutting.

"hello?" I said.

"who's there" I heard a voice say.

"Big mac" I asked and then I saw the door open.

"who are y'all" he asked as he looked at me.

"I'm a friend of applejack, we're holed up in the library and we need food"

"Ah can give ya food but can ah come with ya? The house ain't the safest." he said with a grimace

"sure" I said, when I got a better look at him, I saw the shotgun he held in his hoofs.

"here" he said as he handed me a machete, I looked at the blade before I nodded towards him, he picked up a basket full of apples and we started back down the road to the library.

"so uh, what species are ya?" he asked

"oh I'm a human, the only human in all of equestria to my knowledge" I replied

I looked to the mountain on which the city of canterlot stood proud and I realized it would be a long journey.
