July 19, 1000 A.N.M.B (After Nightmare Moon Banishment)

Canterlot Castle

Twilight Sparkle, an anthro unicorn standing at 6'3, her fur purple and mane with indigo and pink stripes in her mane was sitting at her desk reading a book when Princess Celestia, an alicorn standing at 7'3 entered her room.

"Hello, princess," Twilight said.

"Hello to you too, Twilight," Celestia said. "What are you reading?" She asked.

"Oh nothing, Princess, just a book by Starswirl the Bearded," Twilight answered.

Twilight has been Celestia’s student for ten years. Since then they have form a bond only parents could ever form.

"Do you know where Spike is and your Slave is?" Celestia asked.

"Oh, you mean Matthew, right?” Twilight exclaimed. Celestia then nodded. "They are both getting the new shipment of books from the train station," She said.

"Twilight, we got the books from the train station!" Spike yelled from the door.

At the door was two people standing with books in their arms. Spike was a dragon standing at 5'2, he had purple scales and green under belly and hair. Standing next to him was Matthew. Matthew was one of the few slaves working in the castle. He stood a 6' with dark hair and slightly tanned skin. He’d known Twilight for eight years when her parents bought him to keep her company. He helped her with some spells and homework on occasion.

"Hello, Twilight. Hello, princess," Matthew said as Twilight and Celestia nodded to him.

As they put the books down, Matthew asked, "Do you want anything from the kitchen princess and Twilight."

"Yes, actually," Twilight asked. "Can you get me a daffodil sandwich, please?"

Princess Celestia said "I'll have the same with a piece of cake," after hearing them on what they wanted, he and Spike went to the kitchen

"Excuse me, princess, but can I ask you a question?" Twilight asked Celestia.

"Why of course, Twilight. What is it that you want to ask?" Celestia said.

"Why are humans used as slaves?" Twilight asked her mentor.

"*sigh* I should have known you would ask this," Celestia said. "About 850 years ago a group of travelers found human villages where they saw them working on hard and strenuous work and farming without magic. Eventually they made it back to Canterlot and told the Parliament and they tried to pass a law stating that all humans were considered slaves. I kept trying to persuade them, but it fell on deaf ears. So I had no choice but to vote on it," Celestia said sadly.

"I-I didn't know about that," Twilight said. After five minutes of silence Twilight asked, "Princess Celestia, do you think there is life outside of our planet, among the stars?" Celestia could only nod, thinking the same question.
