Cadence gently pulled the covers back with her magic. Her light purple eyes closed slightly as she slide into bed, sighing softly. The pale pink Alicorn rolled onto her side and snuggled deeper into the sheets, a gentle smile on her lips. Her mouth opened and she let out a truly massive yawn, screwing her eyes shut. She lit her horn and tucked the blankets around her shoulders and blew out the candle lighting the room.

Her ear flicked as the door opened and she released a low groan. The candle wick became surrounded by a light magenta aura, announcing the pony's identity.

"Honestly, Shining Armour? I'm trying to fall asleep." Shining Armour chuckled and slid into bed beside Cadence, brushing against her feathers. Cadence rolled her eyes pressed against Shining, a slight purr rumbling in her throat. Shining wrapped a hoof around her shoulders smiling. As Cadence drifted of, she smiled as Shining began to snore quietly.

Cadence's eyes fluttered open to find herself in a completely black room. The fur along her spine rose as she glanced around, seeing black in all directions. A thought occurred to her and she looked down to see a slightly lighter floor underneath her hooves. She yelped as a breeze flowed over her. A deep-throated rumbling began to fill the air and Cadence froze, her body rigid with fear.

"Well, well. If it isin't the pretty princess that defeated me." Cadence's eyes widened at the familiar voice. No, it's not possible. Cadence turned and screamed at a pair of red and green eyes, purple smoke flowing out of the corners. The ruby red irises glowed against the black background. Cadence's ears pressed back against her head and she began to tremble. The grey unicorn emerged from the shadows surrounding him. Cadence was shocked by Sombra's state. The stallion was covered in cuts and bruises and he had a long scar going down from his ear to just above his right foreleg. His eyes were narrowed with hatred and there was a small nick in his left ear.

"What happened to you?" Sombra's eyes widened before narrowing into thin slits

"YOU happened. If it weren't for you and that pathetic excuse for a dragon, I wouldn't look like this." Cadence snarled and glared at the former king. His horn was still tipped in red but was straight. He bared his fangs and growled at the princess. A large cloud of black smoke appeared behind him and Cadence backed away, fear suddenly pumping through her. Sombra began to turn into smoke as well, looking as he had when he first appeared along with the Crystal Empire. As the cloud swelled, a mouth with fangs appeared, looming over Cadence. The cloud  surrounded her, blocking her vision. Cadence squealed as the stallion's fangs sank into her back.
