"I've got you now AJ" Rainbow Dash shouted through the air which was rustling through the manes of the two mares. AppleJack gave a quick glance and snorted. "No way sugercube this is ma'h race to win" she replied instantly. Rainbow responded by lunging further ahead of the other mare. That was enough to cross the line in front of the orange pony. "You see...phew... I got you this time" the cyan pegasus puffed to the loser. "Next time RD, next time." AJ replied. It was getting late, probably between afternoon and evening. "Well I guess i'll see ya round RD, I need to get' back to work in the barn." "Fine go on then" Rainbow said glumly, wanting to hang out with one of her best friends. She hugged RD and turned to head off towards the barn but when AJ entered the barn, Rainbow felt a weird feeling inside her stomach, she'd been experiencing it ever since herself and AJ were hanging out a lot more since they had more free time. It happened every time AppleJack got anywhere close or touching her cyan coat or rainbow mane. She started to blush a light pink and took flight, thinking to herself
"I need to see someone about this, I've never had 'this' feeling to anyone else, just AJ. But why? Why just her?"
She needed to know, she had so many questions to ask, but she was beat from the running and her hoofs started to pulsate with pain. Dash decided to call it a day and flew back to her cloudsdale house. Well house is an understatement, it was more of a mansion than anything. She rested on her cutie mark covered bed and passed out as soon as her head touched the pillow.
When tomorrow came there was a knock on the door. "ugh...hold on a minute!!!" Rainbow muttered into the pillow as she awoke from her deep sleep and rose from her bed to answer the door. When she opened it up she was surprised to see Fluttershy standing at the door. "Umm... hi Dashie" Fluttershy said at a whisper, "Me and the girls are going to meet up in Ponyville for lunch...you coming?" She asked with a smile. "Sure, just give me a minute Flutters, I mean, you did just wake me up." Rainbow said with a groan and a messy mane. After Rainbow finally got herself ready to look 'presentable', they both took flight to go and meet up with the rest of the gang.
When they finally met up with the rest of them, Rainbow took a glance at AppleJack and started to feel that feeling again, but she didn't let it be a problem...yet. They all started walking towards the cafe and order food, Twilight and Pinkie having an apple and a cupcake, well 3 cupcakes for Pinkie, Rarity just got an apple like Fluttershy while Rainbow and AJ both got a hay and apple sandwich. Rainbow sat opposite of AppleJack with Rarity next to her. AJ started touching Rainbows hoofs with her own, this made Dash blush a shade a pink. She realised this and needed to move somewhere, anywhere... "Umm...Rarity?" she asked with a lighter tone in her voice. "Yes dear Rainbow, what is it?" replied the white coated unicorn with a puzzled look on her face, Rainbow hardly asked her questions so this wasn't normal. "Can you come with me to the little filly's room?" "Sure darling." So there they left to go towards the little filly's room leaving the others to sit there and catch up.
"So dear, what's wrong?" Rarity said questioning. "Huh? But how did you..." Dash was cut off with a hoof to the lips. "It's obvious dear, you have feelings for a certain orange mare am I right?" "Yeah, but it's just...it's just... I can't say how much I love her to her face! What if she doesn't love me back? What if she hates me for being a fillyfooler?" Rainbow was freaking out just as much as the time before her performance at the young flyers competition. "Calm down dear, she probably feels the same back, but if you want to talk to her about this, take her somewhere romantic, like a restaurant or somewhere which is special to both of you..." Rarity was cut off this time but not with a hoof, Rainbow embraced the unicorn with a hug which caught Rarity off guard but she let it slide since after all they were friends. "OH THANK YOU RARITY!" Rainbow muffled into the white coat. "It's quite alright dear, I would do this type of thing for anypony, but... can you please get off me your starting to ruin my mane... I spent ages on it." Rainbow released her grip on Rarity and they walked out to join the rest of the group.
"Alright, so where would AppleJack like to go on a date? Well... it's gotta be something to do with apples... I GOT IT!!!"
