Long before Princess Celestia and Luna raised the sun and moon, an age known as Old Equestria took place. The Equinaquai, an ancient race of large, armored equines, were much common at this time. Neither the unicorns nor pegasi would ever had an advantage in defeating them in their tyrannical reign of terror, but the Earth ponies did. With the most valuable and armor-piercing weapon, the lance, on their side, they had the advantage, and already three victorious wars have been fought between the Earth ponies and the Equinaquai.
But as time passed after the third war, the ponies thought they didn't have to worry about them anymore. The lances became more and more scarce throughout the kingdom of Eriath. The Equinaquai race returns for the fourth time in forever, and the Earth ponies aren't prepared. The arrival of Navin Inkpot would change the outcome of the Fourth Equinaquai War forever. He will have to tread through the gauntlet of war and come face face with death as he documents his story.
