//-------------------------------------------------------// Serenity -by Knight Toland of Astora- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Wake Up //-------------------------------------------------------// Wake Up The disappeared girl’s name was Adria. Ever since she was 5 she said she could see monsters, things that no one else could. They believed she was suffering from some kind of mental disorder. Her parents died when she was 9 and has been living in Misty Falls Asylum since then. For once an asylum that’s been having some strange shit going on doesn't have an dark history or the abuse of patients and so on…... “Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? My name is Twilight and I’ve awoken in someplace I don’t recognize, this place seems to be an abandoned hospital, and the door in the room I'm in appears to be locked as the door won’t open.” Those were the words emiting from the handheld radio that awoke Inspector Sarah Hawkins from her slumber as she shot up from the ground she was lying on. She was wearing a long red winter coat, a purple turtleneck sweater, a pair of black gloves, a pair of blue pants and some black boots. She had blond hair with a bun hairstyle, and she had blues eye. She got up from the floor and grabbed the radio, and began to speak into it. “Hello this is Inspector Sarah Hawkin and I’ve seemed to have find myself in the same situation as you Miss “Twilight,” but I need to know what is your actual name.” “That is my name, Twilight Sparkle. Well Princess Twilight Sparkle to be exact.” “That’s ridiculous. First off Princess, seriously? And no human being ever would have the name Twilight Sparkle.” “I could say the same about your name, and there's no such thing as a human. And don’t you me-” “How about this, I find where you are and I’ll see if you’re not absolutely crazy.” “Fine, don’t have to be so rude about it.” After putting the handheld radio in her pocket she began to exit the room she was in, but the door wouldn't budge. She began to look around for a key; searching on the counter, on the floor and in the cupboards. While looking on the shelf she managed to find the key, the thing was that the key was in the a jar with a human brain for all things in it, not to mention that the key was lodged into the top of the brain. "Well ain't that a sight for sore eyes” Sarah commented sarcastically. Taking the lid off the jar, she reached her hand in and pulled the key straight out of the brain. “Thats one hell of a way to hide a key.” She said. Opening the door to the hallway she starts to look around at her environment. A long dark hallway with the odd broken light, all the doors being boarded up, dingy floors and walls with the odd “Get the mop out,” blood stain on the wall. And there was the occasional old rusty bed, wheelchair and the occasional piece of medical equipment left around. The hallway was mostly quite aside from the noises of Sarah's foot steps, her breathing and the flickering of lights. But out of the blue one the door started to rumble, like something was trying break down the door. Dust flew off the door as whatever was on the other side apparently threw itself against door in the an attempt to get out of the room it was locked in. Eventually something did break down the door, as it flew off it’s hinges and hit the ground with an audible ‘Thump!’ The thing that was trying to break down the door was a worn out mannequin. The plaster on it was cracked, showing it’s age. It’s head slowly turned to Sarah's direction, staring at her with it’s blank and emotionless expression. It’s movement was stiff and unnatural. Which was expected from a still object which purpose is to be placed in a perfectly still position and to have clothes placed on it, that’s been brought to life. Sarah looked around for something to use against it, but when she looked back at it. It was completely still, it was moving when it was underneath a light that had been broken, but apparently the moment it came underneath the light it was frozen. Like whatever brought it back to life lost influence when in came under the light, going back to being a normal, creepy everyday mannequin. She could hear Twilight’s voice coming from the radio, as Sarah took it out of her pocket “What was that?” She asked “A living mannequin.” Sarah bluntly responded. “Seriously?” Twilight said “Yep, and stopped in it’s tracks the moment it came into the light. “That’s odd, maybe there some sort of magical force that’s bringing it to life. And that this force is weak to sunlight, to the point where it can even function.” Twilight responded. “You know, considering the situation. That sounds highly reasonable.”  Sarah said. Putting away the radio she continues to move onwards counting down the numbers of the rooms, ignoring the weird noises coming from some of the other rooms. “Bingo room 33!” Sarah shouted “Why can’t I hear you?” Twilight asked “Wait are you sure you’re in room 33?” Sarah said “Oh damn, it’s actually room 23 that I’m in” Twilight sheepishly explained “Seriously!....... SERIOUSLY!” Sarah shouted She had to walk even further now. And as she moved onward, the noise’s became more common and louder, and she swore she could hear a faint whisper from behind her. But when she turned around, nothing was there and the whispering and the noises suddenly stopped. But when she looked ahead they slowly started again. It was making her more nervous than she wanted to be, and it was irritating her to no end. In laymans terms, she was getting sick of this shit and just wanted to get it over with and get the hell out. So she started to pick up her pace, and as she did the noises became louder. The moment she reached room 23, she stopped to wipe her forehead and take a breather. After that, she knocked on the door and announced her arrival to Twilight. “I have arrived!” She shouted She grabs the door knob, twists it and opens the door. “There you are” Twilight said before she too was donning the same confused what-the-hell-is-going-on stare. “You're an actual god to honest little lavender colored horse with wings and a horn…. What….. Just what in he…. I don’t even.. I….. Ah….” Sarah stuttered. “And you’re a…. A…… What are you exactly?” Twilight asked, just as confused as Sarah. “A human being….. And you’re a?” Sarah asked. “An Alicorn.” Twilight simply explained “I don’t want to know, and I don’t think I care. You’re a horse, i’m a human being. Were stuck in an abandoned hospital in god knows where….. And once again, you’re a horse. I’m not going to get over that.” Sarah said. “I could say the same, and I do believe we must work together….. Obviously.” Twilight responded. The two of them began to talk as they headed onward “So do you have any idea on how we’re going to out.” Twilight asked. “We should look for an elevator to help us get to the ground floor.” Sarah explained. “Oh and try to keep your eyes open in case if you see something move in the distance” Sarah added. “I’ll do my best.” Twilight said “And what's an elevator?” Twilight asked to which Sarah gave her an expression that can best be described as a are-you-serious face.  “Just kidding, I know what an elevator is. You can find one in almost every building in Manehatten.” Twilight explained. “Manehattan, you have to be kidding me. That’s just Manhattan with an e added in for the sake of something.... Maybe for puns sake…... “ Sarah responded. “Very funny” Twilight said sarcastically After walking through the dilapidated hallway, they finally managed to come across an elevator that’s somehow is in a somewhat good state. “Thank you lady luck! Now let’s get on the elevator” Sarah shouted out. The both of them head into the elevator as Sarah goes to press the button for the ground floor. As the door begins to close a loud distorted laugh echoed through the hallway, everything not nailed to the ground went flying into the walls and in the distance a shadowy figure walked towards them. “AH!  A Demon!” She shouted as she began to mash the ‘Close Door’ button on the elevator until the door did finally close. “WHAT WAS THAT THING!” Twilight shouted “I don’t know and I don’t want to know” Sarah responded After that It was just silence beside the noise of elevator, during the ride down Sarah had a simple thought in her mind. This is going to be one hell of a ride. A young girl, about the age of 11 was laid on a bench in park of sorts. She had brown somewhat long hair and green eyes. She was wearing a blue T-shirt, a blue and grey hoodie, a dark blue baseball cap and a light brown backpack. She began to awake and sat up, confused and a bit afraid as she observed her surroundings. She then noticed a note next to her on the bench, it read “Rise and Shine Adria” //-------------------------------------------------------// The Forest //-------------------------------------------------------// The Forest DING! The elevator makes It to the ground floor after what felt like an eternity, the silence quickly being broken by Sarah “Oh grand, more mannequins.” Sarah pointed out, as the entrance was being blocked by a group of mannequins. “You still have that lead pipe, and hopefully my telekinesis will help because it's the only spell  I can use at the moment. As I tried to blast the door open but all I got was a simple spark.” Twilight explained. “I threw the lead pipe at the demon back upstairs.” Maria explained in a dry tone. “Well we should look around for something.” Twilight responded, her eye quickly took notice of the conveniently placed flashlight on the receptionists desk “I found a flashlight at least.” Twilight said as she lifted it over to Sarah with her telekinesis. “So that’s telekinesis.” Said as she snatched the flashlight from Twilight telekinetic grip. “A thank you would be nice” Twilight said. “Fine, thank you ” Sarah Said. “You’re welcome.” Twilight responded, before the lights broke for some reason. “And light on” Sarah announced as she turned on the flashlight. Only to find that one of the mannequins has moved, to the point where it was at an arm's length away from Sarah. Moving back a few steps, she started to quickly flick the switch on the flashlight turning it on and off. “WILL YOU CUT THAT OUT!” Twilight shouted. The six mannequins had moved away from the door and were only a few steps away from Sarah and Twilight. “Hey, at least the way is clear.” Sarah pointed out as she pushed the mannequins out of the way. Rolling her eyes, Twilight gets right behind Sarah as they head out the door. “And just in case” Sarah said just as she closed the door behind her. “Oh great, it’s nighttime.” Twilight said. The duo looked at the vast moonlit forest ahead of them, a path leading to god knows where “Welp, guess we follow the path. What could go wrong” Twilight said. “A lot of things could go wrong, especially if we don’t know where to go. To fix that, I shall now climb up a tree. ” Sarah explained as she placed the flashlight down before she began to do so. Climbing to the top and perching herself upon the top of tree, she inspected the forest around them. “I see a tower in the distance, a forest watch tower to be exact. Wait hold on…… Um…. Yep I knew it, the path leads to the tower” Sarah explained to Twilight. “Good, we know where the path lead. When we get there we should stay there for the night.” Twilight said. “Sounds right to me” Sarah responded as she climbed down from the tree, after getting down she picked up the flashlight. “”You ready” Sarah asked. “Ready as can be.” Twilight responded. “Alright then, let’s get going.” Sarah said as the duo went onwards into the woods. They walked and walked and walked through the strange forest, a reasonable sense of unease was with them as they followed the path ands it’s many twists and turn. The only noises being the sound of them breathing, their footsteps and the snapping of branches that sometimes came from the depths of the forest. And all the while a thick mist began to form, hindering their line of sight. “Sarah do you see that?” Twilight asked while she looked at something, her head pointing to her right. “See what?” Sarah said as turned her head in the same direction as Twilight, shining her flashlight at what ever Twilight was seeing “Nothings there” Sarah said. “What? But I swear there was something there, It was some figure but I could barely make It out.” Twilight explained. “Well whatever It is, we best keep an eye out for.” Sarah said And they kept on going, Twilight stuck in a state of nervousness, where she can’t go a minute without looking behind her. All the while Sarah kept on looking straight ahead, only turning her head to look at Twilight or to quickly look left and/or right. As they were walking Sarah saw a drop of blood fall on her “Well that’s pleasant” Sarah said as she looked up and shined her flashlight at one of the taller trees. “What is it……. Oh my.” Twilight said in tone that oozed disgust and absolute shock. There was body impaled on one of the tree branches, It was one of the Equestria’s Royal guards. His soulless eyes looking down to the ground and face stuck in a state of pain and terror. The area where he was impaled on, the stomach, was torn open with some of his intestines hanging out. The sight promptly caused Twilight to vomit. “But wait, there’s more” Sarah said as she moved a few steps ahead of Twilight. Twilight caught up to Sarah, only to get a good look at what Sarah was talking about. There were more bodies of the Royal guard, along with some Equestrian military personnel who weren't part of the Royal Guards. “Holy Shit" Sarah said as Twilight vomited yet again. “Yeah we should really get going before you vomit again.” Barely a noise was made as the duo walked to forest watch tower. But on their way there, they heard the noise of something falling coming from behind, followed by what could only be described as a deathly wail of pain. The two of them quickly bolted to the watch tower. They stopped just as they got to the tower to catch their breath.  The stairs creaked as they headed up the stairs to the top of forest watch tower. Sarah took notice of a pair of binoculars next to her, picking them up and placing them right at her eyes. She surveyed the area, after sometime she finally found something. A town. “Eureka!” Sarah shouted. “What is it?” Twilight asked “Take a look” Sarah said with a smile as she point in the direction that she saw the tow before passing the binoculars to Twilight, who used her magic to place them at her eyes. “Oh a town! We might be able to find someone there” Twilight said. “Well we should rest before we go and find our way to that town.” Sarah explained. “Fine, I am awfully tired, so It does sound like a good plan. Well at the moment at least..” Twilight said. Closing the door, they got a good look of the inside. Which looked like it was already used, with objects strewn about and radio that was still on, though the only noise coming from It was static. “Well that won’t disturb my rest at all” Twilight said sarcastically as she took the pillows from bed that was there and used them to set up a makeshift bed while Sarah slept on the aforementioned bed.  Just before they went to sleep, Sarah turned off the radio. The duo were fast asleep. //-------------------------------------------------------// Going to The Town //-------------------------------------------------------// Going to The Town “Rise and shine Twilight!” Sarah shouted, causing Twilight to quickly wake up. She should have been ready for the blinding flash of light that hit her smack in the face, causing a sharp pain in her eyes for a brief moment  After grabbing the flashlight, heading out the door and going down the creaky rickety stairs, the two of them quickly took notice of the lack of fog in the forest. “Hey look, we can actually see things that are more than four feet away from us.” Twilight said “Perfect, but on the subject of where we need to go. We just need to head that way.” Sarah said as she pointed north. “Yeah that sounds great and all, but am I the only who notices the bloody hoof prints on ground?” Twilight asked “Huh, well considering the noise we heard last night back at where we found all those corpse and the fact that those corpse were ponies just like. My best guess is that one of the corpses came back to life and dislodged itself from the tree.” Sarah said “Seems a tad bit far-fetched.” Twilight responded “You’re a lavender unicorn, and we’re stuck in some strange dimension. Nothing's far-fetched while we’re here.” Sarah responded “That is true.” Twilight said, just as the two of them heard the noise of branches being snapped by someone. “This may be incredibly generic, but I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” Just as Sarah said this the snapping noise became louder, like whoever was making the noise was coming closer. Which it probably was. The crunching noise came to a standstill as an equine figure crawled it’s way up the hill, the figure in question being a horribly disfigured corpse. It was one of the dead royal guards from before. It’s skin was peeling off, it’s jaw and left foreleg were broken and it was pitifully dragging the broken leg with it. Claw marks and bruises covered the body and it’s left eye was hanging out with the eyes tendril being the only keeping it from simply falling off and rolling to the ground, and all the while it was letting out a pained moaning noise. Twilight and Sarah both mouthed the words “Holy shit,” as it came closer to them. But before it could get any closer Twilight used her telekinesis to rip a branch off one of the trees and bash the undead guard in the face, which in turn cause the loose eye to go flying off . Sarah seemed to be on board with the whole “Beat a zombie horse with a stick,” idea as she went up to the nearest tree and placed her right foot on the tree as she tore the large branch right off the tree. After ripping the branch off she walks over to the undead guard and brings the branch down on it two times, she and Twilight finish it off, smash it’s head in at the same time. They both threw away the blood soaked and almost broken branches as they looked at the further mangled body of the undead guard. “Ew” The two of them said at the same time. “And now zombies, great. Just another thing to keep an eye out for.” Sarah said. The two of them walked around the now fully dead corpse and went on their merry way off the beaten (And bloody) path. The walk was mostly quiet, the only noises being their footsteps and the occasional branch being snapped by one of them. They knew they were almost at the town because in the distance a building could be seen. “Hey um Twilight….” Sarah said “What?” Twilight responded “Do you hear that breathing noise” Sarah asked The two of them held their breath in, and they were able to hear the breathing noise  and they noticed that it was coming right beside them. Looking to her left Sarah saw a pair of eye in the bush, and the moment she made eye contact a grey hornless pony just like Twilight appeared from the bush. She could identify it as male because of it’s voice  “HELLO!” he said in a creepily happy tone. She only took notice of it all after she had chosen fight instead of flight when she clenched her gloved hand into a fist and punched the pony right in jaw. The pony reeled back as blood started to come out his nose “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!” Sarah shouted as the pony placed one of his front hooves to his nose. “My bad, I just wanted to say hi.” The pony said, a massive grin plastered on his face as he removed his hoof from his nose “And why do you want to say hi to us, when you don’t know who we are and when there are monster probably roaming all over what ever the hell this place is.” Twilight said “What monsters?” He asked in the same happy tone, with the same massive smile. “You know, the living mannequins and the zombies and the eldritch shadow abomination that’s probably roaming around god knows where looking to wear someone's skin like a coat.” Sarah explained “Doesn't ring a bell.” He said as both Twilight and Sarah looked at each other with a “What the fuck is wrong with this guy,” look on their faces. “Now, come follow me to the lovely town square” He said as he headed off around the corner. “Alright, so we either follow the “Mr.Stepford Smiler,” and get some directions or we don’t” Sarah explained “Well, let’s just how it goes. If things go right we go on our merry way with a map or something> Or everything turns to shit, and we have to deal a town probably full of crazy ponies.” Twilight said “There’s probably a low chance of the former happening, and a high chance of the latter happening…. Well we just got to hope for the best, and that things go well and we get some form of directions.” Sarah said And so the two of them went on with an obvious aura of uncertainty, following the pony around the corner. “Welcome to our humble town.” He said without a hint of sarcasm. Saying the town was eerie would be somewhat of an understatement, every single one of the ponies in the town had a massive stepford smile slapped right on their faced. And for some reason they just plain out stopped with whatever they were doing at the moment, just to stare at the two of them with eyes that looked like they were on the verge of insanity and would try to murder the duo in a blink of an eye. “Now wait here at our wonderful muffin shop while I get mayor.” He told the duo as he walked off, humming an eerily happy tune. A Mahogany colored pegasus arrived, a metal plate with a batch of bland, stale looking muffins “Here are your muffins and en-” She was interrupted by a horrid wailing sound coming from inside the muffin shop. “Please stay here while I go deal with the noise.” She told them in an uncanny tone, like everyone else in the town. “We should follow her.” Sarah suggested “What? Why?” Twilight asked “Curiosity my friend. Though a better explanation would be that you either stay here and wait for “Mr.Crazy,” and have those shitty looking muffins. Or the both of us go in and investigate what ever the hell is going on in there.” Sarah explained. After thinking about for a bit, Twilight begrudgingly agreed “Fine, let’s go.” She said as the two of them looked around as they snuck into the muffin shop, the moaning noise becoming louder as they headed in. The inside gave off the same creepy vibe that the two has had with them the moment they entered the town The loudness of the noise helped them determine that the noise was coming from the basement. “Oh boy, a basement. Aren’t basements in general just wonderful, oh wait they're not” Sarah commented as she started to slowly head down the stairs with Twilight right behind her, going at the same slow pace. Didn’t stop the creaking noise that were with every footstep. The moaning soon turned to screaming as the two of them hear what sounded like a knife being stabbed into flesh and bone. The basement was basically a makeshift butchery, with slabs of meat impaled on meat hooks, bones and and torn skin was thrown all over with knives and cleaver placed all over. The source of the screaming noise was one of the townsfolk, who was chained up to an operating table of  sorts and was being cut open by the owner of the muffin shop. Hiding behind one of the tables, the two listened in on what the pegasus was saying “Remember that you’re going to help us survive you’ll be the last one for the month, we’re all getting hungry and you and the other five will help satisfy our hunger.” She said as she tore open the open the stomach of pony to remove the organs. “Holy shit.” Twilight and Sarah said at the same time as Sarah vomited in her mouth a bit, while Twilight just plain out vomited. The pegasus managed to hear the two and began to move over to the two as she said “Don’t worry, I’m coming for you.” When she got close enough to Sarah and Twilight, Sarah popped out and gave the crazy pegasus a surprise uppercut to the jaw, sending the pony reeling back “WHY YOU LITTLE SHIT!” The pegasus scream as she threw herself at Sarah who was in the process of standing up from behind the table. Twilight used her telekinesis to yank the pony by the apron, choking her and sending her into one of the meat hooks. The pegasus screamed in pain as she threw herself about in an attempt to tear herself from the hook, but it was in vain as she eventually gave in to blood loss. “Alright….. Let’s head back upstairs and get the fuck out of this hellhole.” Sarah told Twilight as she started to walk away from carnage only to stop for a second, as she eyed a bloody kitchen knife which she picked up. “Hurray for self-defence, come on Twilight. You’re going to need a weapon.” She told Twilight “The magic I have at the moment will do me good for now. Not a big fan of getting up close and personal.” Twilight explained. “Whatever you say.” Sarah responded. As they headed up the stairs and were about leave the shop, a knocking noise came from the door. Only for the door to fall off it’s hinges, like it was attached to the door frame with chewed gum and wet crackers. “I TOLD YOU TO WAIT!” The grey pony from before shouted in absolute, an insanity ridden joyful tone. He was interrupted by Twilight levitating the door and slamming it into his face. They could see some of townsfolk staring at the muffin shop. “Well shit.” Sarah said in the most bluntest way possible
