Runaway Rainbow
Chapter 2 - Camping
Previous ChapterNext ChapterVinyl stuck her head through the indigo coloured curtains. Her glasses got caught in the material and were then were dragged off of her face.
"Dangit!" Vinyl mumbled to herself, only just noticing that the lenses had a big crach through the middle of them. Realising that the same incident had happened multiple times before that due to her blaring music.
Everypony was staring at her as if it was the first time they had seen her. They were shocked that for once her glasses were not on her face, but on the floor.
"Guys! You need to get back to you preparations! This concert means a lot to me, as it should for you aswell!" Vinyl shouted them, a look upon her face that was not at all amused.
Everypony continued with there activities, mumbling rude things about the world famous DJ whilst she casually strolled past them. Realising that Rainbow obviously wasn't in here, she continued to walk down to her room.
The walk now turning into a panicked gallop, she ran towards Rainbow's room to find the door wide open. Her eyes now filled fear and worry for her friend, she searched everywhere in her room, calling her name whilst she was at it. Sighing, Vinyl Scratch walked over to her mirror, to find that there was a not left in it. Realising what it was, Vinyl quickly picked up the small scrap of paper and read the messy handwriting. Either she was in a rush or it was just her writing. Probly her writing no doubt, as Rainbow Dash was not known for her writing, or anything related to that.
Dear Vinyl,
If you are currently reading this, then you obviously just rummaged round my room curious to where I was.
Vinyl turned her head, wondering how she had guessed so easily at her previous actions.
That's what happens when you hang out with Pinkie Pie too often. Anyway, I had to leave early and won't be able to perform, as something bad has happened to Soarin, you know, the guy in the wonderbolts? Yeah, him. Apparently Spitfire heard a scream the other night and went in to his room and BAM, he was gone. So yeah, my point is, I'm with Spitfire trying to rescue Soarin.
Sorry,
Rainbow Dash
(P.S : I left twenty bits on the table for you, hopefully that should make up for it for now)
Dropping the letter, Vinyl looked at her watch.
It was time to announce the next performer. It was Rainbow Dash's turn. She ran towards the stage and took the microphone of it's stand. Before speaking, she cleared her throat.
"Fillies and gentlecolts, I'm sorry to say but the next performer, known as Rainbow Dash, was unable to make it tonight as she is busy with something" the crowd let out a huge aww. They were interrupted by a grey unicorn stallion with a short purple mane when he shouted, pointing his hoof in the air,
"Look everypony! Its Rainbow Dash and Spitfire! Wasn't expecting an airshow!"
When Rainbow and Spitfire heard the stallion, they had already found which way to go, and immediately flew off. Once again, the crowd let out a huge aww, including the stallion who had just shouted it. Young fillies were in tears, until Vinyl finally spoke up,
"We still have more performers to come!"

"Do you think this is the way the pony went when he took Soarin?" Shouted Rainbow Dash over her shoulder, as the winds were quite strong where they were heading. Spitfire just gave a simple nod. Rainbow wasn't so sure, but when the fiery orange pegasus saw the look on the cyan mares face, she gave her a reassuring smile and placed a hoof on her shoulder, as if to say they were going to find him, although she wasn't so sure herself.
They flew towards a tall hill, no doubt one of the tallest in Equestria. Stopping to sit down on top of it, they decided they would spend the night there. Seen as they hadn't thought to bring any essentials, they decided to set up as a small camp area. Rainbow Dash collected the sticks and Spitfire created the fire. After they had started to settle down, a strong breeze filled the air. Shivering, the two mares decided they should snuggle up to each other for warmth.
Thought the night the pair of peagsi rested in peace, but what they didn't know was that there was something luring over them. Feeling something wasn't right, Spitfire's ears perked up and her eyes shot open. Looking down on the mare next to her sleeping peacefully, she decided she would discover what was going on by herself and wake her up if needed.
Standing up ever so carefully so not to wake the snoring mare next to her, Spitfire ventured across the mountain, following the sound to find it's source. As for the creatures who were watching, they fled as soon as the Wonderbolt captain headed there way.
Deciding that it was just her mind playing tricks on her, she abandoned the search and slowly walked back to camp, where the rainbow maned pegasus was still asleep. Hopefully. As she approached camp, Spitfire thought that she probably wouldn't be able to get back to sleep anyway, and went for a walk across the mountain.
She stared in awe at the amount of trees there were surrounding her. She had never seen this many trees in her entire life! Completely forgetting about the mysterious sound and Rainbow Dash, she continued to walk through the forest like area, she thought that earlier she saw an open area which would be ideal for her and the wonderbolts to practise, as it was also peaceful too, well, if they did end up training there it wouldn't be so peaceful due to Spitfire's lack of shouting.
After about an hour of wandering around the hill, Spitfire decided to head back to camp. When she arrived back at camp, she was met with a sight she did not want to see.
Cyan feathers, a few strands of rainbow hair and tiny splodges of blood.
This was not good.

"Great job boys, let's teach her how it feels to be...heartbroken," said a manically laughing voice.
