Chapters "Top of the morning to ya" I said "My name is Peyton, Peyton Maine, I'm from Dublin, Ireland and a Major in the United States Marine Corps. and I'm on a train that's taking me to my new house in Equstria. There's allot you don't know about me so I think I should start with the biggest thing..." I paused for a moment and said "Believe it or not, I'm 250 years old my birth day was March 4, 1762...I know what your thinking 'No way! That's impossible!' and all that, well let me explain." I again paused for a moment looking out the clean window of the train as we passed the wide open plains of Equstria "When I was 13, me and my family were driven from our home in Ireland and moved to America during the American Revolution, we lived in a small house not to far from Boston. One night there was a knock at the door...
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock* "I wonder who that could be, its rather late..." My father said.* When he opened the door, my life changed forever... "You are under arrest! For betraying the crown!" Said the British captain as he and his men stormed the house. "Peyton! Run! RUN!" My mother screamed to me. I jumped out the open window and ran as fast as I could..."You two! AFTER HIM!" Yelled the captain, and soon enough two of his men ran after me... As I was running down the road in the cold night, suddenly I was pulled behind a tree by another pony "Shhhhhhhh..." He said "Don't make a sound." "HE WENT THIS WAY COME ON!" One of the British soldiers yelled as they passed us. It was my fathers friend James, he was part of the continental army massing near Boston. "Come with me" Said James "What's going on?!" I said as I was trying to prevent myself from crying. "I'll explain everything when we get back to camp" James said After we walked for about an hour or so we arrived at camp, I sat down in front of the fire and James got me a drink of water *"Alright listen, your father is a spy for the continental army and somepony must have ratted him out."
"What...what about my mother?!" "They dont know whether or not your mother is a spy or not, why do you think they chased you? Just for fun?" James said as he grinned a little "What are they gonna do to them?!" I screamed "Keep your voice down! Do you want to bring the entire British army to us?!" Another continental soldier said sitting across from us. "He's just confused..."James replied "Listen...Peyton, I'm afraid they're gonna..." James paused looking at me as my eyes expanded. "no...No...NO!" I said as I ran off "Peyton wait!" James said but it was too late, I was already gone I ran and ran as if I were being chased by bulls then...I saw them.... I looked at the burning house and saw no body's, I thought they had taken them...I was wrong...On my favorite apple tree there were two ropes, on these two ropes I saw my mother and my father were hanged..."BAAAAAASTAAARDSSSS!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as I fell to my knees and cried. James caught up with me and saw what I saw. "Peyton...I'm sorry..." I opened my eyes, turned and looked at James and said: "Give me a gun, bullets, and powder, I'm going to kill that son of a bitch!" "I understand your rage right now but we have to go. Don't worry, we'll find that captain, and we'll give you the honor to avenge your parents." That was like music to my ears as James said that "I'll rip is god damn heart out..." I thought to myself as we walked away.
"Two years...two long years I hunted for that captain..." I said while still looking out the window as we passed the great desert, and even got to saw some buffalo's...anyways... "We searched all throughout the 13 Colonies and no luck. Until finally in 1778...we found him. He was preparing to move out in a small convoy to resupply the main British army near Yorktown. We knew that this was my chance to finally get payback. With the help from some local Indians we set up our positions along the road and waited... "So why is this captain of yours so important to you?" Asked one of the Indians sitting next to me. "Personal revenge, he killed me parents." "I was like you once, a rival tribe of ours attacked us and killed my father and took my mother, I never saw her again..." "So what did you do?" I asked "I waited, and waited, until finally we were strong enough to attack them. I found the monster that killed my father and took my mother, but I did not kill him." "Why?" "Because, if I had killed him, I would become the monster that he was." "I still don't understand, he killed your father and took your mother, you had very good reasons to kill him" "But he had wife, and he had a son..." "QUIET! Here they come!" Said one of our scouts.
"Are your lads ready?" I asked the Indian "Yes" "Good...remember, the captain is mine." I said as I got to my position with my fellow army colts "Wait, take this." The Indian tossed me a tomahawk, but, this one was strange...it had a strange emblem on the side of it. An Eagle, an anchor, and the world. "What does this emblem mean?"
I asked the Indian "That is for you to find out my friend, good luck." "You too, remember don't attack until I say when." After we waited for about 5 mins. the British showed up "There they are..." I thought to myself "Were is that son of a bitch anyways?" after about two regiments of British soldiers showed up, I saw him "And there you are..." I took dead aim with my rifle, took a deep breath...and said "FIRE!" Soon enough the two British regiments dropped to the ground like flies "RETREAT!" Screamed the captain as two more regiments of British soldiers showed up. "Don't let him get away!" Somepony yelled. I again took dead aim and fired. "AAAAAAAAHHH!" Screamed the captain who I shot in the leg. "Leave him! He's mine...go after the rest of his men, take prisoners if you can!" I walked over to him and turned him over, and I saw that he was hit in the leg really bad and blood was coming out fast. "Please...help me...I have a son...PLEEAAASSSE!!!" He said as he was crying. At that moment, I began to realize what that Indian men't "Get this poor bastard some water and help as best as you can...MOVE!" "But sir, here's your chance to finish him! He's wounded and helpless, it will be like shooting a fish in a barrel!" "I don't care! Help him now!" "Y-...yes sir..." and they took him away. "Why didn't you kill him?" "He has a wife, and a son..."
The Indian smiled at me a walked away "Wait! Your tomahawk!" I yelled at him "Keep it, its a gift" "Thank you." "Oh, and one last thing! We have given you an Indian name!" "What is it?" I asked so strangely. "Marine" And just like that he was gone, then, I looked down and saw an amazing site...My cutie mark! And what was my cutie mark? My cutie mark was the same thing as the emblem on the tomahawk: An eagle, an anchor, and the earth.
Now I know what you must be thinking "What does this have to do with you being 250 years old?" Well I'm getting to that, for you see I was actually glad I let the captain live because he actually gave me something for letting him live, it was a map that led to..."Next station, Ponyville station!" said the conductor. Oh, this is my stop, I'll have to tell you later, right now its been a long ride and I would really love to settle in my new house.The train came grinding to a halt as I grabbed my bag from underneath of the beautiful red chair. I got up, took a deep breath, and stepped off the train. "This doesn't seem to bad, a nice simple town in a very nice location, and the town folk seem nice." I thought to myself as I walked down the station.
There was just one problem...I knew how to get to my house, but I didn't know where everything in this town is! "Oh lord its gonna take me hours to find my house!" I again thought to myself, and it would have been that way if it were not for the most painful, random, and amazing thing to happen to me. As I was walking down the street I heard somepony say "HEADS UP!" I looked up, and saw a pegasus come flying out of the sky "Oh sh-!" *BAM* *CRASH* *BONK!* My head hit a stone wall and knocked me unconscious for a second or two. Then I heard voice's echoing through my ears "Hey! You alright? Please don't tell me I killed him!" "Don't worry he's alive. Look! He's waking up!" "Oh....me bloody head....." I said while still barley awake, I rubbed one of my hooves behind my head and I felt blood. "Oh that's a lovely..." "Oh man he's bleeding!" "Calm down! Its just a little scratch, lets just take him to the hospital so they can put a bandage on him."
"I'm fine really, it takes allot more than that to kill me..." 'Allot more I should say' I said in my mind as I pulled a bandage out of my bag and started to wrap around my head. "Let me help you with that." "Thanks...names Peyton, Peyton Maine, friends call me Major." "Major? Why do they call you that?" She asked as she finished wrapping the bandage around my head. "Oh well its because-" I was interrupted by a strange pink figure..."OH MY GOSH SOMEPONY NEW IN TOWN! " said the strange pink pony in a very happy tone "Well, yes...I am new in town..." "I KNEW IT!AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!" she said as she giggled, jumped and laughed all around. "Let me guess...she is the random, strange, and unpredictable pony of the town?" "You guessed right..." "Oh I'm gonna have such a good time in this town, I can tell" I said while getting up. "Oh and I'm Twilight, that's Rainbow Dash." "Hello" "And that is Pinkie Pie" "HI!" "Top of the morning to ya." I said in my Irish accent. They looked at me for a second with a strange face until Twilight said "I'm sorry but that accent is so adorable!" At that moment I blushed and tried to hide myself while squeeing. "T-Thanks..." I said while smiling and still blushing. "How about we show you around?" "That would be grand!" and so we begin our walk across town.
Chapter 4: Walk Around Town
"So tell us about yourself Major" Twilight said "I come from Dublin, Ireland." I replied. "I heard about Ireland before. Is it good as they say it is?" Twilight asked "Oh yes, the great plains of Ireland are nothing but a sea of green. It's a very beautiful country." I said as we walked up to our first stop. "This is the Tailor Shop, our friend Rarity runs it." "Well I'm glad you showed me this place, I have a tear in one of my uniforms." "You were uniforms? Pfffftttt Lame!" I basically ignored that comment and I just rolled my eyes and smiled as we walked into the tailor shop. "Hello there!" "Hello" said Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie "Top of the morning to ya." When I said that they just giggled, and I just blushed again.
"My name is Peyton, Peyton Maine, my friends call me Major." "What can I help you with Major?" "I have a big hole in my uniform and I was hoping you could fix it." "Can I see it?" "Sure" and with that I opened my bag and pulled out a navy blue uniform with red stripes running all throughout the uniform, with golden buttons running on the center of the uniform and at each end of and a white belt at the bottom. "The hole is on the side here, you see?" but when I was showing the hole they were gazing at me with open mouths. "Is something wrong?" "NO!" they all said, which surprised me a little that even caused me to take a step back.
"I'll just get this fixed right away." "Thank you." I said as she walked into a different room. "Where did you get that?" asked Rainbow Dash "What do you mean?" "That uniform, where did you get it?" "It looked incredible!" "Were all given that uniform when we sign up" "Sign up for what?" Pinkie Pie asked looking at me with a strange look, in fact, they were all giving me strange looks, but never the less I told them the truth. "I am part of the United States Marine Corps...Major Peyton Maine at your service." "Oh so that's why they call you Major isn't it?" "That's right." Then Rarity came back into the room with the uniform and I found that the hole was stitched up. "Thank you, my commanders would have killed me if they had seen that!" "Commanders?" "Its a long story, I tell you all about it as you show me around town" "Cool! I'm very interested in the United States Marine Corps. now." "Please, call us Marines..." "Goodbye!" Rarity said, as we walked out to door "See you later!" and so we continued on our way.
