A Job To Get Done

Previous Chapter

The girls spent the evening at Pinkie Pie's house. Sunset Shimmer asked, "So...what are we going to make for the bake sale?"

Applejack replied, "My granny's Apple Spice Muffins are real good, would they do?"

Sunset Shimmer responded, "Maybe, anyone else have any ideas?"

"How about we go with a classic...cupcakes?!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed.

"I think we could spice it up a bit more than that, Pinkie." Sunset Shimmer remarked.

Applejack shouted, "I just asked if you wanted to use my granny's Apple Spice Muffins less than ten seconds ago!"

Sunset Shimmer growled a bit, "That's not what I meant..."

Applejack rolled her eyes, "Whatever, I get it, I understand what's goin' on here."

Sunset Shimmer also rolled her eyes, "Anyways, anyone else have any suggestions?"

Fluttershy suggested quietly, "How about cookies? Everyone loves cookies."

Rarity nodded in agreement, "Seems like a good idea to me."

The rest of the friends also nodded, surprisingly, Rainbow Dash didn't protest about it.

Sunset Shimmer questioned, "So, we're all good on cookies?"

Rainbow Dash said, "Yep."

Sunset Shimmer had a clipboard out for all the ideas they had to stop The Dazzlings and Raven. She wrote it down, but she would make the actual plan later when they had all the details worked out.

Pinkie Pie gasped, "Wait! What kind of cookies?!"

Rainbow Dash asked, "Does it really matter, Pinkie? As long as the plan follows through?"

"Well, I want to know, Dashie!" Pinkie Pie said strictly back.

"Just shut your mouth already, okay?! We've already got what we're making planned out! Stop getting in the way!" Rainbow Dash shouted.

Pinkie Pie exclaimed, "I'm not getting in the way, you are!"

Sunbeam interrupted, "You both are! Come on, girls! We're never going to get anywhere if you keep bickering like this! Real friends don't fight..."

Rainbow Dash stopped her in the middle of the sentence, "You're right, real friends don't fight. I guess we aren't friends anymore, Pinkie Pie!"

Pinkie Pie growled, "Fine!"

"Fine!" Rainbow Dash shouted back.

The two girls stomped off angrily.

Sunbeam remarked, "That...isn't at all what I meant."

Rarity asked, "Should I go after them?"

Fluttershy said, "I'll come, too, um...if you want."

"No, just let them blow off some steam." Sunbeam replied.

Rarity added on, "I still can't believe they blew a fuse over a dessert."

Fluttershy looked sad. Then Sunset Shimmer asked, "What's wrong, Flutters?"

"Oh...I just...feel it's my fault that Rainbow and Pinkie are fighting...I'm the one who suggested the cookie idea..." Fluttershy responded.

Sunbeam tried to cheer her up, "It's not your fault that they have a feud going on, Fluttershy. It's called Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie are...well, a bit short-tempered at times."

Fluttershy just nodded, and smiled a bit.

Sunset Shimmer cleared her throat, "Anyways, we've got chocolate chip cookies down as the dessert we're serving. Now we just need a plan to make The Dazzlings snap and start singing, like a trap to figure out exactly what their powers do. I've seen them work their magic before, but they could have changed since then. Especially since Raven repaired their amulets...or necklaces, whatever you call them."

Sunbeam said, "Right, now...how exactly are we going to do that?"

"That's what I'm asking you three right now." Sunset Shimmer replied.

Rarity thought for a moment, then spoke, "Some sparkling outfits never failed to attract attention! Maybe that would work!"

The remaining friends stared at her and Rarity said, "What? I don't hear you coming up with anything."

Sunbeam gasped, "I've got it! First, we set up the cookies and blend in with the other students who baked something. Then, we have Rarity and Rainbow Dash cause a distraction to stop The Dazzlings from getting to the bake sale, just in case we need some time. Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie could follow Raven around to see what she plans on doing."

Fluttershy interrupted her, "S-Sorry for cutting you off, b-but me?! I don't know if I can handle it, Sunbeam..."

Sunset Shimmer smiled, "We know you can, Fluttershy. Plus, I don't know anyone as shy and quiet as you, no one would even notice you, and your footsteps are even near silent."

"I...I suppose that's true." Fluttershy said, and then she took a deep breath, then speaking again, "Alright...I'll do it!"

The friends cheered, and then Sunbeam continued explaining the plan, "Anyways, once Pinkie and Flutters find out what Raven's up to, we pretend to fight in order to make them sing, and influence the arguing. The students will be affected and we can write down notes on how it changes them. That way, we can know for sure how to save the school. So far, they haven't sung yet. Afterwards, we'll pick up and move onto a second plan after that to actually defeat them."
