Skyler is, no, was second in command for Squad 13 of the Lunar Guardian Corps. Elite troops from the Lunar Armada. After capturing a planet known to the locals as mars, they are faced with an alien uprising and their mission is left in tatters. Leaving them to flee into the wild of a halfway terraformed planet.
Starlight is crew member number 2 on the Newmoon, an Equestrian spacecraft built for endurance and exploration.
A transmission is picked up. From somewhere called Mars.
