Persona X: Shadows of the Everfree
Maze of Life
Load Full StoryTick... Tock... Tick... Tock
Twilight lay in her bed, staring out the window that overlooked all of Ponyville. The alicorn rolled over, rustling the bed sheets as she tried to fall asleep. Ugh, she thought to herself. It's gonna be a loooong night...
Luna must have spent a long time crafting this night. The moon was full and bright, and each star shimmered in the vast sky. Yet, despite the beautiful night sky, something was... off. Some sort of ominous feeling pressed down at Twilight, making her unable to sleep.
"Oh! Buck it!" She yelled throwing off her covers. "If I can't sleep, might as well check on the experiment."
Twilight climbed out of her bed and nearly tripped as she drowsily made her way down the stairs to the kitchen, where she was storing her latest project in the refrigerator. Upon arrival, Twilight opened the fridge and found her project was missing. "What the?" She exclaimed. The alicorn moved some objects around in the fridge but to no avail. "Where the Tartarus did it go?"
As Twilight cursed to herself, she became aware of a soft, crunching sound coming from the Spike's room. Dammit, Spike!
Twilight lightly cantered towards the door leading to Spike's room. From inside, she could here the crunching sound grow louder and then get cut off by some loud jazz music.
Twilight threw open the door and found Spike resting on a bean bag chair watching the opening of his favorite anime "Cowpony Bebop".
Spike turned to the alicorn as he dusted off crumbs from his face. "Hey, Twilight", he said with an innocent smile. "What are you doing up?"
Twilight trotted up to the baby dragon as an accusing look spread across her face. "I WAS going to check on the synthetic crystals I was farming using that crystal growth acceleration serum I whipped up, but they somehow disappeared from the fridge", she explained. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that? Would you, Spike?"
Spike gulped and picked something up from the floor. An empty tub with a label that read "Synthetic Crystals. Keep refrigerated."
"This wouldn't happen to be it would it? Hehe..."
Twilight smacked her hoof against her face as she gave out a frustrated moan. "Spike... If you wanted some gems, you could've just gone to the pantry!"
Spike placed a claw behind his head and blushed sheepishly. "Sorry..."
Twilight was getting ready to scold the young dragon, when all of a sudden, the lights and the TV went out. "W-Wha?" Spike stammered as he fumbled around in the darkness.
"Relax, Spike", Twilight said with more than a hint of irritation in her voice. "We probably just blew a fuse. I'll just get an illumination spell up and running and we'll be-"
Twilight tried to illuminate the room, but to no avail. The strange part was that she could still feel the magic coursing through her horn but nothing was happening, almost as if something was neutralizing it. "Huh?" Twilight gasped. "Okay... Weird... I'll just check the fusebox then."
Twilight cantered to the fusebox by the window sill and felt around with her telekinetic abilities, which seemed unaffected. "Ah! There it is." She shouted as she flipped open the box.
"Uh... Twilight..." Spike stammered.
Twilight turned to the sound of her assistants voice. "What?"
"L-Look out the window..."
The alicorn princess rolled her eyes as she slowly stood up. With one motion, she found the window... and what was making Spike so scared.
The once beautiful night sky was now a disgusting and sickly green. "What the?" Twilight yelled out.
