"Out of the way, freak!" Said the young colt, as he pushed the small filly out of the way. This filly happened to be Crystal Clarity, or Claire to her few friends. She was teased for almost her entire life.
She was teased and ridiculed for not only the way she looked, but for her background information. She was the spawn of a pony, Rarity, and a dragon, Spike, a previously thought impossible combination. They were good parents and loved their daughter. But all made fun of Claire for her strange parents.
Today, her parents had decided to have a family outing and go to the park. They sent their daughter to play and make friends, but she knew she wouldn't find any. So she just stayed in her spot, under an oak tree in the shade.
"Oh, sorry." She replied shyly to the colt who had pushed her. As the colt and his friends walked away, Claire could hear them mock her. She had been taught to never hit out of anger. So all she could do was cry.
Then she heard it. The one word no pony except her parents and their friends had ever said to her before. "Hi." But the voice wasn't one she had heard before. It was that of a colt. When she found where the word had come from, she was astonished. It was a gray colored, earth pony colt! He had green eyes, black mane, and a big smile on his face.
"Um... hello." was all she could manage to say. She was still trying to figure out if he had really said hi to her, and not some pony else.
Suddenly the colt got very close to Claire's face. He squinted his eyes, furrowed his brow, and puckered his lips. Claire was a little weirded out by this. He seemed as if he was examining her very closely.
"You look weird." The colt said, still maintaining the same expression on his face.
Claire was surprised at the sudden release of words. "W-Wha?"
The colt change his expression from serious to happy. " I like you!" He said, clearly meaning it.
This made Claire blush. The thought of a normal pony liking her was new. The only normal ponies who liked her were her mother and her friends. She looks off into the distance,a little embarrassed. "Wha... Wait. Why?" She asked, still trying to figure that out for herself.
The next thing that happened scared Claire at first. The colts eyes glowed, he started turning white on the bottom of his body. He said the word "Because..."
"I look weird too!" All of a sudden, the colt completely changed! His coat turned white, His eyes turned red, the style of his mane changed, and that's not all. He had two regular hooves, one on the front and one on the back, and a paw in the front with a dragon foot in the back. He had a snake like tail with a tuft of black fur on it, and he had black fur sticking out of his chest heading towards his back. He had two horns, one next to each ear, both pointing backwards! One was green and looked like a unicorn horn. the other was blue and looked more like a goat horn.
Claire could only think of one creature like this. A draconequus! Claire had only heard the name of one of these beasts in her lifetime, Discord, the bringer of chaos and disharmony.Why did he look like one of those?
He finished the sentence he was saying. "Even weirder than you. And there's nothing wrong with that." He had a large smile on his face, like he liked looking like that. He then put a softer look on his face. "Anyways, I came over here because you looked lonely and I was wondering..." He paused, as if he was nervous about something. Then he said something remarkable.
"...You wanna be friends?"
Claire was overflowing with joy. Some one wanted to be her friend! All she could manage was "Mmhm".
The foals played together for the rest of the day. When sun down came, Rarity and Spike called for their daughter and said it was time to go home.
"Well, I guess this is good bye." Claire said, as she began to cry. Illusion lifted her head with his paw.
"We'll see each other again." He said, trying to reassure her. It seemed to work. The tears in her eyes dried and she put a big smile on her face. She galloped towards her parents.
"Hello, sweetie! Did you make a new friend?" Rarity asked, although she thought she already new the answer.
"Yeah!" When Claire said this , Rarity was so surprised she couldn't talk. Eventually Spike cut in. "What does he look like?"
"He looks weird." She said as she tried and failed to contain a laugh. She looked back at the waving colt who was now her friend. "Hey! Didn't you guys say you had a surprise for me?"
Rarity and Spike just smiled at each other for a few seconds, then they looked at Rarity's enlarged stomach. "Yes, sweetie. A very big one."
Spike and Rarity laughed while they left Claire confused walking beside them.
"Ready to go, Illusion?" Princess Celestia asked her son. "what are you looking at?"
"Another pony just like me."
"Oh! And where is this pony?" She still couldn't see the family. She wasn't looking down the hill. Instead she thought they were flying.
"Right there." He said as he pointed to there position on the grass. When Celestia saw who the parents were, all she could do was smile.
