It was another normal day for the Dazzlings: Adagio had woken up, gone downstairs, argued with Aria who then went up to her room to stay for the rest of the day. Sonata then soon came downstairs, grabbed a quick breakfast, and headed to CHS.
It was months after their defeat at the hands of the Rainbooms, and while Sonata had moved on and overcome the initial hardships of returning to the school and had actually befriended their victors, Adagio and Aria remained isolated from society.
The only things that dragged them out of the house were their jobs (part-time, of course), and even then they made sure to keep interaction with their co-workers to a minimum.
There was a loud thump outside their front door, followed by the sound of keys being fiddled with the lock. A moment later, Sonata burst through the front door and set her backpack on the floor.
She dazedly put away her winter clothes, threw on her favorite pair of bunny slippers and staggered into the living room. Contentedly, she flopped onto the couch and let out a small sigh.
Adagio looked up from the book on revenge tactics she was reading: 101 Ways to Make Someone Regret Knowing You. The first thing Sonata usually did was go into the kitchen and prep a taco or two for herself; the fact that the blue Siren was just lying on the couch, staring wistfully at the ceiling, was rather unusual.
Sonata sighed again. Her chest heaved visibly as she sighed one more time.
Interested and slightly annoyed by Sonata's breathing, Adagio asked, "What is it?"
"Huh?" Sonata replied. She looked confusedly at Adagio like she hadn't really heard what she said. Before Adagio could respond, Sonata's face lit up in realization that she had asked her something.
"Oh. I just saw the dreamiest thing in the whole world!" She sighed longingly, turning to look up at the ceiling once more.
Adagio's eyes sparkled. Sonata looked like she was struck with one of Cupid's arrows. Fitting, since it was right around the human holiday of Valentine's Day.
She scooted her chair closer to Sonata. When she got closer, she leaned down over Sonata's face, giving her a knowing grin. "Oh? What's he like?" she purred. The chance to get information from Sonata about her crush and then use it against her was too tempting.
"He's the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Loyal and loving." Sonata replied, her eyes slightly glazed from her apparent daydreaming.
"Is he cute?" Adagio pressed further. She grinned evilly as Sonata nodded.
From upstairs, she could hear Aria cry, "For God's sake, Adagio! This is Sonata you're talking to: she's probably in love with a new type of taco!"
"If you're so confident in your idea, why don't you come down here and ask her yourself?" Adagio called back. She heard an irritated grunt and a door slam as Aria went back into her room. A moment later and she heard an angry cry followed by a string of muffled curses as her fellow Siren went back to whatever video game she was playing up there.
Turning her attention back to Sonata, who was still emptily staring at the ceiling with a wistful smile on her face, Adagio continued, "Come on, you can tell me. What's this guy all about?"
"Well," Sonata began, shifting into a slightly more comfortable position. "He's got these great muscles."
Adagio "oooed" as Sonata started.
"He's got this really cute voice, eyes that could make you want to just go up and pinch his cheeks!"
Adagio smirked as Sonata went on, giving her more and more fuel for the inevitable teasing and blackmail.
"And he's got the cutest tail I've ever seen!" Sonata finished, flopping back down into her original position.
Adagio froze. Her brain took a moment to process Sonata's last sentence. A tail? What on earth was a human doing with a tail?
"A-a tail?" she echoed, still not completely recovered from Sonata's revelation.
"Uh, yeah." Sonata replied. Propping herself on one arm, she looked curiously into Adagio's eyes. "I'd hope all dogs have tails." she continued.
With that disclosure, Adagio let out a small squeak-like sound, and grew rigid. Her pupils were as pinpricks, and her jaw was set in a weird mix between a glower and a smile.
Completely unfazed by Adagio's change in demeanor, Sonata asked, raising her non-supporting arm in the air, "What'd you think I meant? I know Ari doesn't like my food choices, but I'm not some weird pervert who is attracted to tacos."
Adagio didn't reply. She just stared at Sonata blankly. Every so often, her left eye twitched. Finally, she snapped out of it. Fixing Sonata with the hardest glare she could muster, she bellowed, "A DOG?! All this, over a dog?"
"But he's such a cute dog!" Sonata whined back. She got up from the couch and dashed to her backpack. After a moment of rummaging, she ran back carrying a photo of her holding a small purple dog with a green underbelly. The dog was in the middle of giving her a couple of friendly licks, and another girl with purple skin and wearing a white lab coat stood in the background.
"All this, over a dog?" Adagio repeated, her mind not fully caught up with all the events.
Again from upstairs she heard Aria, this time in a fit of hysterical laughter. "Told ya you should have just dropped it, Dagi!" she heard Aria cry between laughs.
Her face reddening, Adagio screamed back, "Shut up, Aria!"
Turning her attention back to Sonata, she hissed, "You really had me going, didn't you?"
Flashing her a confused look, Sonata replied, "I did? For realzies?"
Scratching her head, she asked, "What did you think I was talking about, a guy?" She stuck out her tongue and waved both her hands down in disgust. "Ich! I don't want boy-cooties all over me! You're so weird, Dagi!"

Author's Note
This was just a little silly idea I had a little while ago. I thought it'd be perfect for a pseudo-Valentine's Day fic. Sorry it's so short, I'd much rather write something longer, but you can only do so much with one basic idea, yes? 
And this is something that must be said: Sonata: redefining the phrase "puppy love". 
Also, thanks once again to AShadowOfCygnus for pre-reading, as well as the title for the book Adagio was reading. Also helped with the description.
