Russet Flame: Landing In Equestria
Ch. 1- Jason
My life sucked. Until this point. Scientists have figured out how to open a portal. A portal to a parallel universe where war didn't happen. Until the Failure.
As usual, I was watching My Little Pony on my laptop in the wait room. I was one of the few people selected to be a “test dummy” for their portal. I had my cable plugged into the power board, I had an unlimited supply of battery power, and-
“Jason, your number is up.” I lowered my computer and sighed. At least it will be over quick.
I was wrong.
As I got in the seat in a secure drone to go in the portal, I realise that I forgot to unplug my computer. Just. Great.
All of a sudden, Smoke started to come out of my console, and the machine powered down. My brakes turned off, and I slid down towards the portal, but the weird thing is that the portal turned red, just before I entered it.
Weird. I thought it would be blue.
The lab was in chaos.
The power was off.
Thanks to some stupid computer. The portal has now closed, it will take up to a month to re-start! And the colour. It changed, and now Jason was gone.
Gone.
I feel myself changing, I try to control the drone with my hands, but something is wrong.
I don’t have hands.
Instead, My hands have changed into… HOOVES? I can still get a grip as I survey myself. I draw in a breath as I realised who I became. I became a freaking Stallion from my absolute favourite show. As I reach the end of the portal I see the overlooking of… EQUESTRIA!
The drone came shooting out. I regained control and tried to make a controlled landing, but nevertheless I crashed into the main street and finally came to a stop next to Sugarcube Corner. I didn't last long until I fainted.
12:36, Ponyville Hospital
*Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.*
I tried to get the nasal sound out of my head, but it persisted, and I opened my eyes to find myself in a hospital room.
I sat up to find out my… wings were damaged and bandaged, as well as some of my body. Wait. Retrace a second. Am I a Pegasus? I looked and confirmed my request. Yeah, i’m a pegasus. This. Is. AWESOME! I took a look at myself. I am a russet coloured Pegasus with a nicely stocked body. Even for russet, it it pretty bright of a colour. Yep, just like the TV show.
A nurse came in with a clipboard. Her name tag read “Hello, my name is Ms. Bush”. She came over to me and asked, “How are you feeling? You’ve been in a coma for a couple of days. Also, we need an account of your name before you leave; you should be scheduled to be released.”
“For your information my name is….” I hesitated. They don’t have any human names in Ponyville so… “…Russet Flame.”
“Okay, Mr. Flame, you can leave.”
“Woo hoo!” With that I left the hospital and ran downstairs. Before leaving, I remembered something. I looked at my flank.
Wow. I can’t believe this place gave me the grace of a Cutie Mark. The cutie mark had a music note and a couple of instruments. I remembered I knew how to play instruments good, it reflected my talent from the human world. Interesting.
I walked out to see a crowd waiting at the entrance. A deathly silence followed. Then, a purple alicorn - Twilight Sparkle, I presume from the show - came up to me and looked at me as if she was studying a new species. “Where did you come from…?” She asked.
“That pod…”
Twilight grabbed me and pulled me to Sugarcube corner. The pod wreckage was still there.
“And can you explain this, before this matter has to be taken to extensive levels?” A collective gasp went through the crowd. I went up and looked at the damage. “Wait… It’s still working!” I climbed in and flicked a switch. The machine went into hover mode. Twilight gawked, and I gave her a ‘what did you think?’ look. She face hoofed and made a closer inspection of the machine. Her horn glowed a second, and she recoiled, obvious surprise showing on her face.
“There is no magic radiation at all in this machine. It does not run on magic!” she said, eyes wide.
I waved to the crowd. “And that’s not half of it!” I pulled on the steering wheel, and the machine tilted up. I gave the pedal a push and the machine started to fly.
“What, how?” Twilight asked. I landed beside her and she gave her wings a hard flap, landing in the passenger seat gracefully. “You seriously want to know?” She nodded and I put the pod into gear.
“And so how do you trust me all of a sudden, Princess Twilight?” I said her name to surprise her.
“I just felt like I could trust- WAIT, HOW DID YOU KNOW MY NAME?” She yelled.
“You know what? You feature in a book. You fit the characteristics," I lied quickly. She smiled at my hasty explanation and said, “Really?”
“Yup.” I said to her as I raised the speed.
“Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” Twilight screamed. “This is so much fuuuuuuuuun!”
“You sound like Pinkie Pie, Twilight.” I said as I put the pod into land mode. As soon as I landed, the machine smoked and broke down.
“Shit, I can’t repair this now, not even with magic.” I said, turning to Twilight again.
“Umm… Can I take this machine to my library and look at it some more?” Twilight asks.
“Sure, but let me come with you.” Twilight nodded and used her magic to levitate the machine as I followed her to her library.
Russet Flame: Landing In Equestria
I walked into Twilights library. It was stocked full of books like in the cartoon. It had every book you could dream of…
*CRUNCH!* The pod landed outside as Twilight let go of her magic telekinesis. I walked outside and laughed as Twilight was looking at the machine with a magnifying glass.
“Hey, Twilight, I can show you where the ‘magic’ happens.” I say as I try to pry open the engine compartment. Crud, it’s stuck.
“Let me get that for you… What’s your name?” Twilight asked as she used her magic to open the compartment.
“It’s Russet Flame. Please just call me Russet.” I reply, “Now, look. This is made to run without magic. It burns fuel to make energy my turning pistons… Did you just get that?”
“Yep, Russet. It’s amazing that this machine runs without magic.” Twilight said.
“I think you can say that. Let me explain with more depth…”
“…and that’s how I need refuel the machine for it to work.” I finish.
Twilight just gaped and scratched her head. Then she noticed a setting sun and yawned. “Wow. That was tiring for even me to listen, and I am known for long lectures.”
“You need to sleep or something?” I asked.
“Yep” Twilight said. I looked at her and said, “Are you like forgetting something?”
“What?” Twilight seemed puzzled.
“It seems I don't have a place to stay…” I said kind of remorsefully when Twilight jumped up. “Sure, you can stay at mine. I have a spare couple rooms. It will be cool to find out more about the pod and your mysterious appearance-“ She cut herself off, as she realised what she just said and blushed.
Twilight’s POV
I showed Russet to his room and went to mine. He seemed like some interesting guy and there are some mysterious things about him. But why did I blush and cut myself off? I didn't do that on my very own. Was I…
I woke up and stretched myself. Another day of research, I guess. I climb out of my bed and remember what I admitted to my head. What was I thinking?
I trotted downstairs to find a weird sight, as well as very surprising.
Princess Celestia was in the room. I instantly bowed and said, “Princess Celestia.”
“I have come here to investigate the mysterious appearance of Russet Flame, the supposed never seen before pony.” She said, “Can you wake him up and bring him down?” I got up and nodded. I opened his door, and said, “Russet, wake up!”
“*Groan* No, thanks.”
“Princess Celestia is here. she want’s to talk to you.”
“SAY WHAT?” Russet yelled and ran out of bed and downstairs. I followed in a more calm manner.
“So, Russet. I heard you appeared in a portal a day ago and crashed in that pod outside.” Celestia
“Yeah, It’s a long story, but it’s not worth telling.” Russet replied.
“And that pod flies without magic?”
“Yes.”
The questions went on for a while, and I got bored so I picked up a book and read it.
Russet Flame POV
Celestia had left. So I tried to fire up the pod and fly it again.
Unfortunately for me, it didn't work. I kicked the thing and smoke started to rise from the pod.
“Dammit.”
