She split open one eye a fraction, and then closed it again. There was a very uncomfortable light above her. Rainbow rolled over and opened her eyes slowly. She blinked rapidly trying to regain her sight. Rainbow Dash found she was in a hospital, surprisingly there were no other ponies around. She sat herself up, she wore a hospital gown covered with small splashes of blood. Rainbow saw that there were a line of five chairs next to her. Why was it she somehow knew that it was the correct number. She remembered she was in a race, racing for some other pony. Then she went to bed. Rainbow Dash got out of bed and fell over. She felt a feather press on her back, good. She still had her wings, that was good. Her head throbbed and ached. Some ponies walked in, five ponies. “Rainbow Dash! Your awake, we thought you were a goner for sure!” the purple pony said. A yellow pony came and hugged her, she wriggled out of the hug. The pony looked disappointed. “Who are you? Where am I?” Rainbow Dash asked. “Sweetie, come on now.” said the white pony. “Yeah Rainbow, stop pulling our leg!” said the orange pony. “Silly billies! This is one of Rainbow Dash’s pranks! Right?” Silence came into the room when the pink pony asked. “Please? Rainbow?” Rainbow suddenly felt anger spilt all over her, why did they not answer her questions. She got up, ager showed in her voice. “I don’t know who you ponies are but I only live to race! I never had any friends and never will! Now who are you and where am I!?” They all looked down and the purple pony talked. “You don’t remember? I guess you’ve been out for weeks, no wonder you don’t know us… I’m Twilight and this is Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack and Pinkie Pie… You’re in a hospital…” “Ha! As if, I’m the best flyer around! No one can keep down Rainbow!” she smiled but when no smiles came back, she frowned. “Oh my Celestia… How many weeks?” She thought none of them would answer but then, “You were out for seven weeks after you crashed…” said Applejack in a weak voice. Rainbow Dash covered her mouth. “Oh my Celestia…” She stared at her covering until she lifted her head slowly. A doctor walked in and dismissed the five ponies. “Rainbow Dash, take a rest for a while. We’ll be back soon.” The doctor said in a voice which was worrying. Rainbow Dash heard shouting outside her door. She gritted her teeth and got up, pain shot through her legs. The shouting died down as she concentrated on her thoughts. Rainbow Dash walked back and forth trying to remember what happened. Every time she reached for the fog that clouded her mind it scattered. She pumped all her adrenalin through her. Rainbow tried to use that energy to fire up her brain but nothing worked. Rainbow fell over but no memories came here. She looked at herself in the window showing the town she was in. A whole lifetime of memories gone in just one bad crash she thought. Rainbow Dash looked out of the window to Cloudsdale. She stood on her hind legs and pushed open the window. Rainbow grunted with effort and took one last glance at the room. She flew out of the room into the sky. Straight away sweat gathered on her face as she tried to stay steady. Soon enough her wings gave up and she started to fall. Rainbow Dash spread her wings out and leaned towards a tall hill. She came in fast and she stumbled over when she landed. Rainbow walked over to a tree on the hill and sat against it, she undid all her bandages. Chapter 2Rainbow Dash walked along the streets of Ponyville. She crashed into a filly when she wasn’t looking. She pony’s face brightened. “I’m so sorry! Are you hurt little filly?” the pony nodded with her mouth gaped opened. “Rainbow Dash! I’m so happy you’re okay! Anyway we have a lot of flying lessons to catch up on!” “I-I’m sorry, am I your mentor?” “Of course silly!” Rainbow Dash looked around cautiously for any ponies from the hospital. “Come with me.” They walked out to the hill and Rainbow Dash sighed, the pony was so bright and cheerful. She had a nice orange coat and purple mane. She didn’t want to tell her. She bit her lip then sighed again. “I’m sorry but I don’t know you…” Rainbow Dash said as kind as possible. “What?” said the pony confused. “I’m Scooterloo, you’re student. Of course you know who I am!” Rainbow Dash looked away from the filly’s eyes. “Look, when I crashed I was out for seven weeks. I must have hit my head or something because I can’t remember much.” When Rainbow Dash looked back she saw Scooterloo was frowning, she felt bad inside. “Okay, but what do we do about it?” “I don’t know, we need to remind me of something I can’t remember I think…” Scooterloo’s bit her lip and ran off. Rainbow Dash didn’t know where Scooterloo was going but she waited anyway. She came back with a book in her mouth, she dropped it in front of Rainbow Dash. Scooterloo sat next to Rainbow Dash as she read. Rainbow Dash and Scooterloo were there until it was dark, Rainbow closed the book. “Anything?” Scooterloo asked. Rainbow was about to say no when two small part jigsaw puzzle was in her hoof. “Cutie mark crusaders… You’re part of the Cutie mark crusaders… I mentor you in flying lessons… Daring-Do is my favourite book character… I remember something!” “That’s great! I’ll tell your friends-“ Rainbow put a hoof on Scooterloo’s shoulder. “No, we need as little ponies to know of this as possible… They’ll want me in the hospital but the only way to remember is to be out here. Is there somewhere I can sleep for now?” Scooterloo tried to think of something then it hit her. They snuck past the apple farm and into the treehouse. Sweetie Belle and Applebloom were sitting there waiting. “Hey, what’s Rainbow Dash doing here? She already has her cutie…” said Applebloom. “What is it Applebloom?” asked Sweetie Belle. “Ah! What happened to Rainbow Dash’s cutie mark!?” Everyone looked to Rainbow Dash’s blank flank. Rainbow jumped from her own surprise. “Scooterloo, get a book about everything from Twilight’s library!” Rainbow Dash said, Scooterloo ran out. “Wait? Twilight has a library? Hm…” Scooterloo returned with a book. They got to adults with blank flanks. “It says if an adult mare or stallion forgets their destiny or special talent then they go back to having a blank flank.” Scooterloo read out. She looked up to Rainbow Dash slowly expecting some kind of explanation. Rainbow didn’t answer. Everyone went dead silent. They all decided to camp in the treehouse, Rainbow Dash spread her wings out and kept the fillies warm. She still didn’t know enough. Chapter 3Rainbow Dash woke up with Sweetie Belle and Applebloom under her spread out wings she was about to go back to sleep but she realised Scooterloo was gone. She got up and she fillies woke up to the sudden cold. They moaned and rolled over trying to get back to sleep. "Where's Scooterloo?" asked Rainbow Dash paranoid. "She's probably out doing her daily morning flight..." Applebloom said in a weak voice. "She does that?" "Yeah, she does it so her wings don't get stiff..." Rainbow Dash kicked the door open and flew out. Sweetie Belle got up and shouted. "Wait! Someone might see you! Damn it... How come adults never listen to us kids..." Rainbow Dash flew fast until she got to Scooterloo. Scooterloo got surprised and almost fell, Rainbow Dash swooped in under her and help her get back on track. Rainbow suddenly remembered she'd take her morning flights, pick up a cupcake for a small breakfast and then pick up a Daring-Do book from Twilight. Rainbow Dash suddenly felt a little dead inside, she wouldn't be able to do that anymore. Scooterloo started to fly again while Rainbow Dash flew under her. "I was worried about you so I came out here." she said softly. Suddenly something flew past them quickly and Scooterloo was flying after it. "Scooterloo! Come back here!" Rainbow shouted. She flew after the filly and cursed under her breathe. Scooterloo tackled the creature onto a field and Rainbow Dash almost flew over Scooterloo. "I remember you, you're that griffon! Why have you back to Ponyville?" The griffon was about to open her mouth to shout back to Scooterloo when she saw Rainbow Dash standing behind Scooterloo. "Rainbow Dash? I'm so sorry, I didn't mean any of that. I was mad and arrogant but now I know how to act. Please-" The blue pony held up her hoof. "Look, I can't remember you or much at all. However I need help to regain my memory, since you're a friend could you please help me?" "I- I guess... All those memories though, you can't remember anything?" "Just a bit, not much though..."
