Chapters Next Morning Magic [Rewritten]
Night transitioned into day rather quickly. The first up in the castle was Starlight, who naturally woke early. She had already made her breakfast and set out for the day to help Trixie with magic tricks and such. Spike was up second and was quick to begin making breakfast for the rest of the household members, as he knew Starlight had already left as she left when he woke up. But the problem with him cooking is that he was gonna only make 3 portions, not yet knowing about the new filly in the household. Luckily, Twilight walked into the kitchen as he began to cook. The dragon noticed a tiny saddle bag on the mare's back, but chose not to question it.
"Spike, I know this may sound a little weird at the moment. But I need you to make four plates, if that's alright with you,'' she said, looking at her number one assistant. She sat down on one of the wooden seats that Spike used to reach the sink when washing up. She had left Midnight to her sleeping, since the filly was still out like a light when she woke up. She had also heard Nyx about a little while back, so knew the alicorn filly would be down soon.
"May I ask why?" Spike asked, as he began work on getting more ingredients so that he had enough to make four bowls of the cereal he was making. By the tone in his voice, it was clear that he was quite curious by the need for four bowls when Starlight had already left for the day and had made her own.
"It's a long story, so I'll condense it a little. Remember how I was reading up last night," when he nodded, she continued. "Well, somepony knocked on the door. Quite confused, I answered it and discovered a little filly. Her name is Midnight Wish and I'm afraid that she may have a neglectful or abusive family so I'm letting her stay here for a little while, until I discovered what to do with her."
"So, basically. You're taking in another filly, when you don't even truly know their background. I believe you’re a little too kind sometimes, Twi. But I can understand if your concerned about her household situation. I'm fine with her staying her, but at the moment, I can't say the same about Starlight and Nyx. You'll have to ask them yourself," the dragon replied, as he put the cereal mix in the microwave. Turning the dial with his claw, he turned to look back at Twilight. "I hope you know what you’re doing. The last time this happened, well...you know."
"I understand, Spike. But it won't turn out like it did with Nyx, I'll make perfectly sure of that so don't you worry," the expression on the mare's face spoke complete confidence, before she stood up and began to walk out of the kitchen door. She turned back once more and said. "I'll be in the dining hall, so when you’re done. Just call and I'll help bring the bowls through."
She walked out of the kitchen and into the dining hall, she sighed as she sat down. Remembering her talk with Midnight the night before, the filly's past was still a complete mystery. Even her cutie mark was a mystery, it was hard to determine what had transpired in the pegasus' past to leave her in that state, but it wasn't good for sure. She levitated the saddle bag off her back and stared at it with sadness. It was obviously Midnight's, but why the filly left it outside in the bush Twilight had discovered it in that morning was confusing. The mare unbuckled the wand shaped clip and looked within, only to see some rotten scraps that looked weeks old. The smell alone made her want to hurl up the pancakes from the night before. But there was also a wand on a strap attached to the side of the bag, it looked exactly like the wand in the filly's cutie mark.
Was it possible to transfer magic into a wand, converting it from the filly's natural pegasus magic into unicorn magic? That was the only thing that Twilight could come up with as to why the filly seemed to have a cutie mark in magic. Hoof steps brought Twilight back into reality; she turned to see her adoptive daughter, Nyx. The alicorn filly's black coat and regal purple mane stood out from a mile away, because of how unnatural black coats were. Dark gray, yes. Black, no. "Good morning, Nyx. Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah, I did," she moaned a little, as she came and took her place. Twilight could hear the filly's rumbling tummy from about a few minutes prior. "I can't wait to eat and then see the CMC."
"Well, Spike is making cereal. So that can solve your hunger," Twilight said, giggling a little. Suddenly, a loud crash was heard. The mare and filly flinched a little at the sound. Twilight looked outside of dining hall to see Midnight sprawled out on the floor by the staircase. It didn't take a genius to figure out that the pegasus had fallen down a least a couple of steps. "You alright, Midnight?"
The tiny filly grumbled a little at herself as she pulled herself up onto her hooves. She looked at Twilight and nodded slowly to say that she was indeed alright, even though she was a little more scuffed up then she was the night before. Luckily, she had only fallen a couple of steps because Owlowiscious had accidentally scared her. Forcing herself up, her gentle yellow eyes meet with Nyx’s piercing turquoise ones. Only moments later, Midnight watched as the alicorn filly turned to Twilight and asked. “So, mom. Who’s this?”
“Oh, her name is Midnight Wish,” smiled Twilight, before turning to the tiny pegasus before her and then continuing. “Midnight, this is my adoptive daughter. Her name is Nyx, she’s 10 years old.”
“Oh….” whispered the little filly, before blinking and replying. “…Midnight Wish, 9 years old...though, I’ll be 10 in only 2 months…,” presently, it was September so that put the little filly’s birthday somewhere in November.
A nod came before the reply, as the older alicorn smiled gently. “I had figured you’d be about 9, come on. Let’s go and eat, shall we?”
Shortly after the three ponies were sat, Spike came over with the bowls of cereal. Settling in to eat, Midnight couldn’t help…but feel left out amongst the group. They all knew one another and so, she felt like she was intruding into their family. As she picked at her food, Twilight must have realized something was up as she spoke softly. "Midnight, I know you feel uncomfortable. But don't worry, you're welcome to stay as long as you need."
"Welcome..." echoed Midnight in her quiet voice, she wasn't sure on whether to believe the statement or not. At the end of the day, she was just a stray foal that Twilight had found. Surely, the alicorn mare would want rid of her? With a mild sigh, she continued to eat.
Watching carefully, Twilight noticed the near struggle that the filly was having to simply pick up the piece of cereal. Despite her birth right as a pegasus, it seemed that Midnight was more like a unicorn. Having a magic-based cutie mark, having struggles picking things up. It was very much like she was a unicorn in a pegasus body. Thinking swiftly, Twilight remembered about the bag that had came along with the young foal and levitated the wand in front of Midnight. "Maybe this will help you."
Midnight's eyes filled with surprise at the sight of her wand, looking up at Twilight. But she nodded and closed her eyes as she focused her magic into the wand and within only a mere few moments, the pieces of cereal were levitating and entering her mouth. The act of magic surprised Nyx and Spike, who both hadn't been expecting it. But Twilight smiled, glad to see that Midnight was more able with her magic activated like that. However, the obvious question was going to arise sooner or later. "Um, Miss Twilight..." as Midnight spoke, her eyes downcast and cheeks seem to glow. "H-how did you find it..."
"Well, it had been left in a bush not far from the castle. Not too hard," came the response, though the older alicorn wasn't done talking. "So, would you ever be able to explain how that wand works. It looks very similar to unicorn magic when you use it."
Now, Twilight had expected for the filly to deny explaining. But instead, there was a ton of surprise in the pegasus' eyes, like she had never expected someone to ask how her magic worked. Stumbling a little, Midnight push the wand back on the table and poked at it. "...That wand, it's nothing more than....a tool. It's not magical in any way....it's function is to transfer types of magic. My main magic is pegasus....clear by this...wings...," she said gently, turning to the wings that were resting on her bandages.
Twilight nodded, coaxing the young foal to continue. Even Spike and Nyx seemed invested in the idea that you could transfer types of magic. After the mild coaxing, the youngest filly continued. "...My pegasus magic is dormant...as my wings are nothing more then decoration, due to.....magical interference in my body. Thus, it's rather useless....so I can use the dormant magic.....and change it, morph it into unicorn magic.....as my body processes a lot of unicorn magic, but I can't access it without that trigger..."
"I see, well. Definitely interesting that you managed to change something like your dormant magic into something more useful," Twilight smiled. "So, when you say your wings are decoration. What do you mean by that."
"Oh....basically, I cannot fly and my wings haven't grown since my birth..." she looked at the tiny, frail wings. They certainly were similar to that of a baby's wings. Despite all the talking she had just done, Midnight went silent and continuing to eat with her magic once more.
It wasn't long before everypony was done eating their cereal, Nyx ran off to go see her friends and Spike went to clean up the bowls. This let Midnight and Twilight together in the dining room, the filly was still averting the mare's gaze. However, she finally looked up when the alicorn spoke. "I want to introduce you to my friends today, so we can prepare you for going to school and such."
"Alright," came the shy reply, Midnight was so nervous to meet new ponies. How could she not be nervous with her backstory, she looked down and thought to herself. 'Would things be different.....if I hadn't been separated from Midday during that storm...? "
Author's Note
This chapter was obviously very much rewritten, with new scenes that explain some events.
Twilight and Midnight walked side by side down the earthen road. Twilight stopped and looked up, seeing a castle like building made completely out of clouds and was even built of clouds. But it wasn't just clouds, there were rainbows too. Twilight smiled, she knew exactly who's house it was, Rainbow dash's and now Scootaloo's too. Maybe Rainbow was home. The alicorn looked down at the filly next to her and said. ''You want to fly for a little bit?''
''Um.....sure...?'' Twilight smiled and opened her wings. She began flying up to the sky castle, with Midnight flying very slowly not far behind her, panting all the way. It was long before she cried out ''Wait up.''
''Oh, sorry.'' said Twilight, stopping mid-air and let the filly catched up to her before saying. ''Not to be mean or anything, but wow your wings are weak...'' Midnight flinched and looked down, Twilight sighed and thought 'No answer again....something else from her past to add to this list.
''....Um...T-Twilight.....where are we going?...'' asked the filly, having not been told yet.
''Oh, sorry I forget to tell you. We're going to visit my best friends. And at the moment, we're flying up to my friend, Rainbow Dash's sky castle.'' replied Twilight.
''Rainbow.....'' mumbled Midnight, under her breath.
''Come on, we're almost there now.''
The two ponies continued flying, Twilight slowly to let Midnight keep up. The sky castle was in sight and soon the mare and filly pair landed on the cloud surface. Midnight, unlike Twilight, wasn't expecting to land comfortably on the cloud and gasped when she did. She didn't know about the abilities of pegasi.
''I....didn't fall....through....'' she mouthed out her thoughts.
''Of course you didn't, pegasi can walk on clouds. It's a weird talent, but they can. It's part of their magic, the other part being their flight. Their magic isn't like unicorn magic, or the magic that I suppose you can control, they have it natural whilst unicorns have to train and learn it over the years of their life.''
Midnight titled her head in confusion, but nodded slowly. Twilight frowned but ignored it, as she walked over to the door made of clouds. She knocked on it, but no reply came. She knocked again, still no reply.
''Maybe she's not home.'' wondered Twilight, before she remembered something. ''Oh yea, the annual collecting rainwater in is only 1 month and 2 weeks so she will be getting Fluttershy prepared, that mare is so nervous....''
''Nervous?...'' echoed Midnight, quietly. So quiet that Twilight barely caught it.
''Oh, you wouldn't know. Fluttershy, one of my friends, is a shy and timid pegasus like you, but when she was younger she had trouble flying and so she was bullied a lot. Now she is severely nervous about flying in front of other pegasi, she briefly overcame it 4 years ago but she's still worried. But it's not just that, she's also worried about leaving her basically chaotic 2 year old daughter with her husband, personally I agree but we're gonna need all the wingpower we can muster, there's only about 20 pegasi here now excluding the foals.''
''That little.....'' worried Midnight, quietly.
''Come on, lets go to Fluttershy's cottage.''
Midnight nodded and flew after Twilight, but being tired from her first flight, she almost fell from the sky. She would have, had Twilight not caught her. With the filly now resting tiredly on her back, Twilight sighed. ''Looks like I'm carrying you there.'' Midnight whimpered her sorry, but didn't speak. ''It's alright, I'm not bothered. I'm just a little out of practice with my flying so hold on.''
Midnight blinked in confusion but was soon forced into gripping her weak, scar-covered hooves around Twilight's neck when Twilight flapped her wings so hard that they ended up flying way passed Twilight's normal flight speed, and then the poor filly almost throw up when Twilight forced her stop.
''Sorry, Night.''
''....I-it's alright....'' mumbled Night. ''Wait....why did you call me 'Night'?''
''Well, your full name is pretty long so I gave you a nickname.''
The conversation ended as quick as it began, and soon the pair landed on the path leading to the cottage surrounded by amazing flora and fauna and it made Night smile, as she looked around. For the first time since that morning, she step away from Twilight to observe the plants and strange animals that she hadn't seen before.
''Stay close, Night. I like to finish this meetings before sundown at the latest.''
Night nodded and walked back over to Twilight, and the alicorn led the filly up the path to the cottage. To Night, the cottage was something out of the fairy tales that she used to read herself to sleep with when she was little, well littler. It was beautiful in her eyes, Twilight noticed this and giggled a little.
''I-is...this my....i-imagination?....'' questioned Night.
''No, it isn't. This is Fluttershy's cottage.''
''O-okay....''
''Come along.'' said Twilight, as the pair walked up to the cottage. The alicorn knocked on the door, and a face popped out of the door. Night becoming instantly scared, hid behind Twilight's back-hooves but Twilight know who the mare was, it was Rainbow Dash. Looks like her hunch was right.
''Hey, Twilight. What brings you over here?'' asked the rainbow pegasus, in curiosity.
''Rainbow, I have somepony I like to introduce to you. Where's Fluttershy?''
''Inside, I'm trying to get her to do what she did four years ago but she's refusing to leave Screwball with Discord for only a couple of hours. It's like she's afraid that they will blow the cottage up. Wait, I could believe that, those two are too alike.'' sighed Rainbow, looking into the house. ''Come in.''
Twilight and Midnight came into the house, with Midnight staying behind Twilight the whole time. Fluttershy was sat on her sofa with a young earth pony filly beside her. The filly was even smaller than Midnight, who was tiny, and had a pink coat with a two-toned white and purple mane with violet eyes, with not a droplet of black in them just a purple swirl.
''Ah, Auntie Twilight. Can you tell mommy that I'll be fine with daddy, she doesn't listen to me.'' said the filly, in a foal like speech.
''Okay, Screwball but no promises.'' replied Twilight, before she turned to look at Midnight. ''Why don't you have a chat with Screwball here, I'm sure you can be friends.''
''B-but...'' Midnight tried to deny wanting to be friends with somepony but gave up. ''O-okay....''
''You'll be fine. Now go on. I have to talk with Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy.'' With that, Twilight pushed the young pegasus over to the swirly eyed earth pony.
''Ah...um.....I-I...'' stuttered Night, unable to speak.
''Hi!'' yelled Screwball, bouncing up and down. ''I'm Screwball Fluttershy Draconequus. That creamy yellow pegasus is my mommy, my daddy is called Discord, he's the lord of chaos but is fun.''
''Um.....n-nice...to meet you...um....Screwball....Fluttershy....Drakraques?....''
Screwball giggled and waved it off, quite literally, she summoned the spoken words and waved them away. ''Don't mind! Don't mind!''
''How...did you do that?.....''
''Do what?''
''W-waving my....words away....physically....''
''Oh, it's magic. Like unicorn magic in your mommy.''
Midnight looked down and flinched a little. ''T-Twilight isn't....my mommy.....''
''Oh, I see. A little mistake on my behalf, don't worry. Oh yea, you didn't tell me your name.''
''....Ah...um....it's...Midnight....Wish....'' murmured Midnight, getting quieter for her surname.
''Oh! What a beautiful name, I wish my surname was wish!''
Midnight flinched more, and looked down at the bandage that was around her body and a image filled with blood erupted into her mind. She stumbled a little. Twilight, who had been speaking to Fluttershy about overcoming her fears, saw this and went over to the young filly and put a hoof on Night's shoulder in attempt to calm her down.
''You okay, Night?'' asked Twilight. Midnight panted a little and shook her head, in some fear. This gesture made Twilight worry a little. ''Screwball, please try not to mention the name 'Wish' and don't try to get Midnight to talk about her past, she isn't able to cope well with it, can you promise me that?''
''Okay, Auntie Twi.'' replied Screwball, regret filling her swirly eyes. She turned to the older filly and said ''Sorry, Midnight.''
Midnight didn't speak and Twilight sighed a little. ''It's not your fault, Screwball. I probably should have warned you. Girls, I probably gonna have to leave soon.'' she said, turning to Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash.
''We understand, Twi. Night does seem pretty terrified. Don't you still have to meet with Pinkie Pie?'' asked Fluttershy, with a concern tone.
''Yeah, I'm a bit worried about that. Pinkie is slightly worse than Screwball, no offence little filly, and she may say something that could upset Night.''
''Well, your gonna introduce her to each of us. So I suppose you'll have to have her meet Pinkie one day, maybe she'll get along with Surprise and Confetti Cannon.''
''I gonna try and get all the introduction today.''
''Well, good luck, Twi.'' said Rainbow, before turning to Midnight, who was still slightly shaking and holding onto Twilight's leg tightly, and said kindly. ''See ya, runt.''
Midnight squeaked a little and hid behind Twilight, who sighed and said to her friends. ''Well, see you, girls. I will come over Monday when Nyx and Night are at school.''
Then, the pair left to go visit the other mane 6 members, Rarity, Pinkie and Applejack. As the alicorn walked, she figured out how she was gonna introduce Night to the others. First Rarity, because she was the closest of the three, then Pinkie then Applejack, because she's nearby the school so Twilight could show Night the school grounds before enrolling her.
The route to the carousel boutique wasn't long and bendy, it was just a short trek over a earthen roads. The boutique had wasn't open that day because it was the weekend and Rarity only worked at the weekend if it was a important client that needed to be served right away. Twilight smiled a little, because that meant that wasn't gonna be anypony but Rarity within the shops walls making it easier for Night, who clearly was very nervous about everything but a bit curious too.
When they walked into the boutique, Rarity wasn't in the main room but the sound of humming was heard clearly telling Twilight that Rarity was working in a different room. She knew better than to interrupt Rarity but she called out. ''Rarity. It's me, Twilight. I have somepony for you to meet.''
The humming stopped and soon a white unicorn walked out of the back room, carrying various threads in her magic and having a pair of red glasses on her nose. She had a slightly annoyed expression as she spoke. ''Tell me, Twilight. It better not be another Nyx, I don't want another disaster like 3 years ago.''
''Oh no, in fact she's nothing like Nyx.''
''Good.'' sighed Rarity in relief, before sorting herself out. ''Well, where is the little dear?''
Twilight smiled and moved to the side to reveal the still terrified Midnight, who freaked when she realized that she was in the spotlight, she jumped and tried to hide behind Twilight who shook her head. Midnight frowned and somehow built to courage to face Rarity but didn't even look her in the eye.
''T-Twilight, please tell me that white thing around her waist is not a accessory.''
''Rarity.'' sighed Twilight. ''It's a bandage.''
''A bandage, well something needs to cover it. And I know what.''
Rarity began levitating something within her magical auras, a vest that looked identical to Nyx's only with slots for wings to slit through and it was a different color, this one was blue and purple whilst Nyx's was purple and black. The fashionista smiled to herself before carefully placing the vest onto Midnight, without even asking permission.
The vest fit perfectly, and Midnight's wings were comfortably outside of the vest's cloth. And the vest also covered up all sign of the filly having a cutie mark in the first place. Twilight stood in shock, whilst Midnight shuffled awkwardly. The alicorn mare smiled and said to Rarity. ''Wow, it's amazing and it covers both her cutie mark. her scars and the bandage.''
''Wait, cutie mark. I didn't see any cutie mark.''
''She has one, a rather odd one at that.'' mumbled Twilight. ''A magic cutie mark, like mine only with a wand not a star.''
''Well, if it's magic and she's a pegasus then I can see where you're coming from. Other foals would bully the poor dear relentlessly if they discovered that she had a talent that wasn't related to her race. I have seen a bully take toil to a blank flanked filly but to a filly with a cutie mark of a odd theme, oh no.''
''I personally agree, Rarity. I will buy the vest, it does look pretty good on her in my opinion.''
''Twilight! I'm no where near finished with her outfit yet. She needs something in her mane, and she needs those wings having coverage, they look so delicate that a gust of wind could snap them off if strong enough.''
''I see, but Rarity. I believe I should tell you her name first.''
''Oh yeah. Thank you for reminding me, Darling. Now what is the dear's name?''
''It's Midnight Wish.''
''I see, well Midnight. Would you mind standing there for just a little while.'' Midnight blinked and said nothing, only obeying Rarity with no complaint.
Half an hour passed, and Midnight's outfit was finished. The young pegasus was now wearing a sea blue translucent wing coverage with a bow on the above side of each wing. And she was now wearing a cute bow on her the back of her head, it was identical to Applebloom's but a different color, purple. And on the vest, there was a pink bow in between her wings. Midnight was blushing and shuffling awkwardly but Rarity smiled in satisfaction.
''She's perfect!''
''Thanks so much, Rarity. How much for the entire outfit?''
''It's on the house, darling. I'll let this slide, after all it's the least I could do for my friend's daughter that I never knew about.''
''Rarity, she's isn't my daughter. She's a filly who I found outside my door yesterday night during that storm, with a hole in the side of her back and various cuts and scars. So I took her in, you would if you met her.''
''Oh, I see but why was she in the dreadful storm?'' asked Rarity, concerned.
''I don't know, she won't answer any questions revolving around her past.''
''I see. Well, here's some advice, if she isn't telling you about her past then it's pretty severe. One day, a few years back. Sweetie Belle came here with a cut on her leg, I tried to ask her where she got it but she refused to tell me. Scootaloo, who I had only recently met, was the one who told me what had happened.''
''I was pretty certain about that already but thanks.''
''You're welcome, darling. Now you and the little dear better head over to Sugar Cube Corner, because the CMC are trying to bake cupcakes with the twins.''
Twilight smiled awkwardly before walking over to Midnight, who was looking at the outfit in some confusion and slight worry like she had done something wrong. Twilight giggled. ''Midnight, you have done nothing wrong. It's a gift. Now say 'thank you' to Rarity for me.''
Night blushed and stuttered out. ''T-thank y-you....M-miss...R-Rarity...''
Rarity smiled down at the nervous filly and said calmly. ''Your welcome, dear. Now run along with Twilight, I have some work that I must get back to.''
Night smiled and Twilight giggled. ''Bye, Rarity.''
Rarity didn't reply and instead walked calmly into the backroom. Twilight smiled and soon, she and Night left the boutique to get the Sugar Cube Corner before the CMC destroy the place. As soon as they got to the bakery, it was just like Twilight had expected. Batter slung in all directions and 7 fillies and a colt were stirring the rest of the batter. The CMC were there, with Nyx, Twist and Dinky Hooves. But also two other foals stood nearby, the Pie Twins.
Surprise, a bubbly pegasus white filly with a curly, very curly, golden mane and had purple eyes. She was the odd family member, because she looked like neither of her parents but she got her genetics from Pinkie's Granny Pie who was a pegasus of similar colors. The filly, despite only being 2 years old like Screwball, had her cutie mark, three purple balloons symbolising her talent of surprising others, mainly her brother.
Surprise's brother, Confetti Cannon was a orange unicorn colt with a stern personality, in contrast to his family's happy go lucky personality. He had a pink mane, which to his annoyance, that was very straight not curly like his family members. And his cold blue eyes should little to no emotion, almost like he had been the one raised on the rock farm not Pinkie.
''Foals.'' said Pinkie, as she came in having realized the mess. ''Now, what am I gonna tell your parents and sisters.'' Twilight blinked with some confusion, Pinkie was actually telling the CMC off. ''And, you two.'' said Pinkie, turning to her children and saying sternly. ''You shouldn't have agree to them cooking.''
The CMC all said sorry and the group of 6 left the bakery leaving Twilight, Midnight, Pinkie and the twins alone. Pinkie sighed and looked around with a sad smile on her face. ''Boy, caring for foals and letting them to baking is a difficult job.'' she said, before turning to Twilight. ''Sorry about that, Twi.''
''Oh. It's alright, Pinkie. I was just a little surprise to see you serious.''
Pinkie giggled for a moment, before spotting Midnight. ''Who's the filly?''
''Oh. Her name is Midnight Wish, I found her in the storm last night. Try not to be too eager with her though, she's highly nervous and don't try and get her to talk about her past. Screwball only said her surname earlier and she went faint.''
''Oh, the poor filly. Well, she's in good hooves now. Right?''
''Yep. I wanted to introduce her to you, Pinkie but looks like we're done now.''
''Oh, wait a sec.'' said the pink mare, before bolting up the staircase and coming down with a cupcake and a teddy bear. ''Here you go, Nighty. Present from your Auntie Pinkie.''
Midnight took the teddy bear and cupcake into her hooves, with some surprise. ''T-thank you....''
''Hey, Twi. Whens her birthday?''
Twilight didn't get chance to answer because Midnight cut in with saying it. ''...November 17.''
''Wow, that's like only a month away. I have to get planning!''
''P-planning for what?.....'' questioned Midnight.
''Your birthday party of course!''
''.....But parties are sinful....'' cried the filly, shaking a little.
''Parties, sinful!? No!'' gasped Pinkie. ''Parties are happy and fun. I guess you never felt that before.'' Night looked at Pinkie, with eyes filled with fear, doubt and some sadness. It made Pinkie's heart break, she had to make this filly's birthday special but also small because she didn't want to scare the filly away with her normal silly antics.
''Well. Thank you, Pinkie but please make the party small. Night is serious nervous and quite clearly terrified. I personally believe that her parent or parents forced this onto her, don't blame her for calling parties sinful.''
''I understand, Twi. You have my pinkie promise that it'll be small.'' said Pinkie, with a smile before she became reciting her promise. ''Cross my heart and hope to fly. Stick a cupcake in my eye!''
''Um....Twilight. How is....a pinkie promise....different to a normal....promise...?'' asked Night, quietly.
''Well, according to Pinkie. If you made a pinkie promise, you can't go back on it or you have her on your tail. Believe me, you don't want that.'' explained Twilight, with a small shiver as she remembered the time that Applejack broke her promise with Pinkie. ''Well, Pinkie. It was good introducing Midnight to you, now we better be going. We still have to introduce her to Applejack.''
''I understand, bye Twi. Bye, Nighty.''
''Bye.''
The two left the bakery to Pinkie and the twins. And then walked down the quick path to Sweet Apple Acres. Applejack was outside, kicking her way through the red delicious and the newly appeared zap apple trees. The mare smiled in delight as a bunch of zap apples fell into one of the waiting baskets. She then turned and saw Twilight. ''Ah. Hiya, Twilight.''
''Hi, Applejack. Working hard, I see.''
''Yep, ah have to. Zap apple harvestin' isn't easy because they will disappear if they aren't picked all in one day. Mah job is the get them picked in time, but with only me and Big Mac. Ah don't think ah'll be able to this year, because of the sheer number.''
''I see, well. Why don't I help, with my magic. The zap apples will be picked in an hour at most.''
''Ya know, that actually a very good idea, Twi. Ah will appreciate the help. Ah'll even give ya and yer little friend some freshly made zap apple jam.''
''That would be nice. I'll be glad to help.'' said Twilight, with a smile. ''Night, would you like to help? I have your wand with me so you don't have to kick the trees.''
Night smiled and nodded, without a single word. Twilight smiled, reached into her saddle bag and gave Night the wand that had been nestled in the alicorn's bags all day. Night held the wand in her mouth and waved in gently, sparkles erupted from it but soon it glowed in a amazing golden glow, much like the auras that wrap around a unicorn's horn, and levertaited a lump of mud.
''So you know levertation I see. Well, that's all you need. Come on.''
The four ponies, Applejack, Big Mac, Twilight and Night all worked together till sundown to get all the apples harvested from the zap apple trees. It was a job that needed careful time management but as the last rays of Celestia's sun faded from the evening sky, all the apples had been harvested and thus none of them vanished into thin air.
''Well, thank you again for the help, Twilight, Midnight.'' said Applejack, with a thankful smile. ''Here you go, the promised zap apple jam. Don't use it all in one day.'' She handed them a jar of the rainbow colored jam, which made Midnight looked at it with curious eyes. The orange mare then walked back into the barn.
''You're wondering how it tastes, aren't you?'' said Twilight, with a smile.
''Yea....what if it's bad?....''
''Oh no, zap apple jam is always yummy. You'll see, I'll make toast in the morning and use the jam. Now, before we go home....'' said the alicorn, as she led the young filly down the earthen path that led past Ponyville Elementary.
''There's the school that you'll start at on Monday, Nyx will take you.''
''O...okay. It...sure looks....foal friendly....'' said the filly, with hopeful eyes.
''It is. Your teacher, Miss Cheerilee is one of my friends and shes probably one of the kindest mares in Ponyville.''
She didn't get an answer, but she smiled. Midnight continued to look at the schoolhouse with fascinated but scared and curious eyes. So many emotions swirled around Night's eyes that half the time, Twilight couldn't tell what she was thinking or feeling and it partly scared the alicorn mare and made her worry more about Midnight's past.
But, she looked to the future. Maybe one day, Night will tell her what happened. One day.....
Author's Note
Okay, whoever reads these. Tell me, should I put a dark tag up because I ain't fully sure where 'Night's past is going, but it's pretty dark....I only hinted it here, and I highly doubt everyone would have gotten it. Okay, don't tell at me for Pinkie too. She's older and a parent, I believe she would be a little less childish and a bit more stern.
Monday came quickly, and now Nyx and Midnight stood outside the beautiful red building that was the schoolhouse. The taller black alicorn looked down at the miniature 9 year old, who eyes grip in fear and frowned sadly. Nyx sighed quietly before speaking. ''Nervous about meeting other foals, aren't you?''
Midnight remembered her meeting with Screwball, as another flash of blood erupted into her mind making her pale. But she stabilized herself pretty quickly to try not to make Nyx worry and she simply nodded. Nyx frowned, she had seen whatever color that the filly processed drain from her already white cheeks.
''Come on. Remember, I'll be there so don't worry about bullies or anypony who threatens to heard you verbally, physically or simply by accident.''
Night smiled at Nyx, though sadness, like always, grip her eyes. Nyx smiled sadly and led the small 9 year old into the building. Cheerilee was standing inside the building, waiting for the time to bring the foals into the building when she saw the two fillies enter the red building. The mulberry earth pony smiled and walked over. ''Nyx, I suppose this is the filly that your mother ask me to enroll?''
''Yes, Miss Cheerilee. This is Midnight Wish. I suppose mommy also told you that she is easily frightened, sometimes just by the mention of her name.'' said Nyx, calmly.
''Twilight did tell me indeed but do not fret. She's in good hooves.''
The alicorn filly smiled and turned to Midnight. ''Night, stay inside. I'm going to play with the crusaders before we are called into the building. At break, I'll introduce them to you but for now, just stay here with Cheerilee.''
Night nodded gently, and watched as the 10 year old walked out of the building. The pegasus then looked up at Cheerilee, who smiled down at her. ''Now, Midnight was it?'' said Cheerilee, calmly. ''When everypony comes in, I'll introduce you to them so don't worry about speaking in front of 15 other ponies.''
Night nodded gently, not speaking a word and instead just stood next to the desk, in front of a picture easel that held a three words 'The pony types' in bold black. Cheerilee smiled down at the filly. Soon the school bells rung and children scrambled into the classroom. As soon as all the chairs were filled, Cheerilee began speaking. ''Good morning, everypony. Before we start our lesson, I like to introduce a new student into our class.'' She motioned to Night. ''This is Midnight Wish, she'll be joining us for now on.''
Suddenly, a colt spoke from the back row. ''But, Miss Cheerilee, isn't she too young to be in the fifth grade?''
''I know she's small, but truth be told she's actually nine years old like most of you, and according to her guardian, her birthday is only next month. Now, everypony treat her with respect.'' Cheerilee then turned to Night and said gently. ''There's a free seat behind Nyx, that'll be your seat for now.''
''O-okay...'' murmured Night, before she went and sat behind the alicorn filly who smiled at her.
''Now, class. Today, we'll be learning about the four pony types. In fact, we have all four here today. Now, each type have a specific talent....''
Night was smiling brightly, as she took notes. She earlier had been told to act like a normal pegasus, and to not use her wand because Twilight didn't want her cutie mark to be seen by others so Night had to use her mouth to write, which was uncomfortable but she was okay with it. The lesson was fascinating to her, learning about the four pony types wasn't her skill but she liked it.
The clock was ticking, it was almost break time and most of the fillies and colts wanted to get out of the classroom to stretch their legs. Cheerilee finished talking about unicorn magic and turned to the class, speaking only a few words. ''Now, before we head out into break. Does anypony have a question.'' Cheerilee was a little surprised when a white hoof was raised into the air, instead of a black one. A white hoof that belonged to Midnight who had been asking various questions that day. ''Go on, Midnight. What is your question?''
''Miss, if unicorns can grip hold of their magic via training, pegasi magic is their flight, cloud walking and ability to control the weather and earth pony magic is their strength to cultivate the land. What is alicorn magic?'' asked the pegasus filly, gaining some glares from Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.
''Well, alicorn magic is a different type of magic. Truth be told, it is all three in harmony within the alicorn's body. They have the magical abilities of unicorns, the flight of pegasi and the strength and warm hearts of earth ponies.''
''Then why do we neither see them control the weather or cultivate the land?''
''Well, alicorns are in a higher class. Being a alicorn means your royalty in a sense, so there isn't a need to cultivate the land or control the weather. Plus when there are already many pegasi and many earth ponies, why would they need to?''
''I see....''
''Now, does that answer your question?''
''Uh huh!'' nodded Midnight, with a smile.
The class sighed in relief, as Cheerilee sent them out to play. Midnight was one of the last to leave. She walked out of the building and was instantly confronted by Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. The two glared angrily at the small filly, who began shaking nervously. Diamond smirked at the shaking. ''Scared, are we? Well you should be!''
''Yea, anypony who makes us late for break is damn right rude, you little nerd.'' said Silver Spoon, glaring down at the small filly.
A tears trickled down Night's face. She had only asked a question, why were they being so mean to her. She weakly tried to fight back by saying. ''A-all....I asked....was a question.....''
''A question that made us late for break! You know, I hate being locked up inside that classroom when we could be out here enjoying the last warmth before winter kicks in but no, you had to go and shorten our break time just so you could asked a question! A questioned that could have waited till after break!'' roared Diamond, in the cowering filly's face.
''I agree, DT.''
''It's not just that, but your entire appearances puts me off. Your a pegasus, with a body of a five year old! Not to mention, you have a ridiculously hideous outfit, at least I can look at Nyx's outfit and not be put off by it, but yours. Ew! Blue and purple aren't suppose to go together and what the heck with that horrendous bow on the top of your head and the one on your vest too!'' stated Diamond Tiara, with a disgusted face.
''And what's with the wing coverage!? Who wears wing coverage!?''
''I have no idea, but lets get rid of this outfit.'' said Diamond Tiara, before she pushed Night off balance and into a nearby mud puddle. During the fall, the filly's vest came undone and fell off into the mud but it also revealed the filly's still bandaged waist and cutie mark. The filly, now coated in mud, cried.
''Aw, look. The little muddy tramp is a crybaby.'' mocked Silver Spoon.
''Is that your special talent, crybaby.''
''Special talent. Hey look at her cutie mark, what is that?''
''Aw, so she's a tramp, a crybaby and a baby?!'' laughed DT. ''Only babies play with toy wands.''
''And what is with that bandage, why is she wearing it. Does she have something to hide?''
''Maybe, lets take it off.'' grinned Diamond, before she suddenly lost balance and fell into another mud puddle.
''Ah, Diamond!''
''What the hell, DT?'' said Nyx, appearing out of nowhere with a rock in her hoof. ''Teasing my little sister like that. And just because she has a bandage around her waist, doesn't mean she is hiding anything.''
The alicorn didn't even realize what she had called Midnight, but the crying filly did take notice of the word 'little sister'. Silver Spoon quickly wiped Diamond's tiara and placed it back on the furious earth pony's head. ''H-here, Diamond. Your tiara.''
Diamond glared at the sliver earth pony, and then glared at Nyx. ''What's your problem, Nightmare Nyx.''
''My problem is with you bullying an inno-'' The alicorn stopped briefly when she saw Night's shake under the word 'innocent'. ''A harmless filly about her cutie mark, her bandage and her outfit. Do you think she deserves your treatment of her?''
''Ah perfectly agree, Nyx.'' said Applebloom, from the side of Nyx. ''Quit thinkin' yer on top, Diamond Tiara.''
''Oh, Applebloom, you blank flank. I am on top, my daddy owns your barn. If you told him that I was supposedly bullying you then he might just buying your products and reclaim his ownership and then what would you be, southern freak!''
Applebloom glared at the mare, before turning to Dinky. ''Dinks, ya think ya could?''
''Alright. Stand back, girls.'' said the unicorn filly, as the other fillies stepped back. The filly's horn lit up in a beautiful aura of golden that striked Diamond Tiara, and turned her into a pink pig. The filly turned pig oinked in angry before running off, Silver following. Dinky giggled before sending another bolt of her magic to turn the filly back to normal.
''Good work, Dink.'' said Nyx, before she walked over to still scared Midnight. ''You alright?''
''W-why....did you call...me 'little....sister'....?'' stuttered the small 9 year old.
''Oh, well....uh, how do I explain this?'' murmured Nyx. ''Well, lets say you're becoming like a little sis to me.''
''Oh....'' mumbled Night, before gently smiling with tears still in her eyes. ''.....But....t-thanks you....thank you all....''
''You're welcome, Night.'' said Sweetie Belle, as she walked up to Midnight and put a hoof on the tiny filly's shoulder.
''Now, lets introduce you. Little sis.'' said Nyx, with a bright smile. ''Girls, this is my adoptive 'little sister', Midnight Wish.''
''Hiya, Night. Ah'm Applebloom.'' said the cream earth pony.
''Hi! I'm Sweetie Belle.'' said the marshmallow unicorn.
''Hey! I'm scootaloo!'' said the orange pegasus.
''Hi, Nighty. I'm Twist.'' said the white-cream earth pony.
''And hi! I'm Dinky Doo Hooves!'' said the periwinkle unicorn.
''Now, we all know each other.'' said Nyx, with a smile. ''You can join our club, if you want. The Cutie Mark Crusaders.''
''O-okay....'' smiled Night, with happy tears forming in her eyes.
2 weeks past since Night begin school and join the CMC. Twilight, Spike and the pets had gotten use to having the small filly around. Even Spike had said that he would have liked it if Night were to stay with them forever. Nyx agreed with the baby dragon, because she had already began referring to the sweet filly as 'little sis'.
One day was when the big chance happened. Night and Nyx had just come home after playing with the CMC. Twilight was sat in the living room in front of the warm fire. She saw the two fillies go past and called out. ''Nyx, Night. Come here, please.''
The two fillies looked at each other and nodded, walking into the living room and sat on the opposite sofa. Nyx looked at a envelope that laid on the table, but didn't questioned it. Twilight didn't address Nyx, but instead Night. ''Night, you remember when I said you could stay till I came up with a decision.''
''Y-you're....gonna...s-send...me....a-away.....a-aren't you.....'' cried Night, stutterly.
''Mom...please don't tell me that is true.'' mumbled Nyx.
Twilight giggled a little and handed Night the envelope. ''Read it.''
Night blinked, through tear filled eyes and opened the envelope. She read along the words, before gasping and having her eyes fill with even more tears: tears of happiness and joy. Nyx noticed this and read the letter from over her 'little sister's' shoulder and smiled. ''You're becoming her legal guardian.''
''That's right, I didn't want to send her away and cause her even more pain. She's happy here, I don't believe she would be anywhere else, so she is staying.'' said Twilight, with a smile. Night sniffled and ran over to Twilight, hugging the mare. ''Night, one thing. You can call me anything you want from now on.''
''....I-I....think....I'll continue...calling you....'Twilight'....for now....'' sniffled Night.
''You can call me anything you want.''
Nyx smiled at the heartwarming scene, before saying gently. ''Looks like you're staying, little sis.''
Night looked at her big sister, with a smile filled with happy tears but didn't speak as she continued hugging Twilight. Twilight smiled brightly, as she hugged the filly close to her heart. She was now the tiny filly's legal guardian and she wasn't gonna let anypony take Night away from her and harm her in anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong about Nyx and Midnight being in the fifth grade (9-10) and in my opinion (Mainly because of my school years) their school year go from September to July.
A few days had past since Twilight took Night in permanently, the filly enjoyed her life and had opened up a lot and wasn't having so many visions of blood erupting into her mind now. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were still teasing her everyday, but not nearly as bad as the first incident that led her to becoming a CMC member.
She and Nyx were walking down the street to the schoolhouse. Both of them smiling happily. Unknown to them, they were being watched by two earth ponies, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon to be exact. And they weren't pleased or happy. Diamond growled under her breath before saying. ''We need to teach that little Night a lesson that she'll never forget. I had enough of her stealing my break time.''
''But how are we gonna do that, we already referred to her as a crybaby, a simple baby and a disgusting filly.'' said Silver, with a frown as she listed what they had called her before.
Diamond frowned too, before she glanced over at a dark, gloomy nearby wood. ''I think I have my idea.''
''What?...'' questioned Silver, as she looked the same way Diamond did and gasped. ''Y-you can't, Diamond. She could be killed, or somepony will find out. Remember what happened when you did that to Nyx three years ago.''
''Well, it won't be the same because we're just going to do it a different way to make sure that she learns her full lesson.''
Silver shaked a little, she didn't like the tone that Diamond was using. Truth be told, the 10 year old wished nothing more than to walk away from Diamond but she had no choice, if she walked away then she would have Diamond's wrath behind her and she didn't want that for all the bits in Equestria. ''How then....?''
''Well....'' said Diamond, as she began whispering her plan to Silver Spoon.
Later that day, Night was packing her stuff away into her saddle bags when she was approched by Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. She freaked and attempted to get away from them, only to have Diamond's hoof placed on her shoulder in a surprisingly calm way. The small filly looked back at them in confusion. ''W-why...didn't....you say...anything...?''
''Because we wanted to say sorry for all the mean comments.'' said Diamond, in a relatively kind voice.
''....Say sorry...?'' mimicked Night in confusion.
''Yeah, we're sorry.'' said Silver.
''....I....''
''You don't have to say anything. Wait, how about to show our apologies. We take you a lovely flowerbed.'' said Diamond.
''F-flower....bed....?''
''Uh huh, it's just within that forest over there.'' said the pink earth pony, as she pointed out of the window and over to the Everfree Forest. Night flinched, Twilight had told her about the dangerous forest before and she really didn't want to head into there. She had heard that when night fell, creatures would begin roaming through the almost dead trees.
''....B-but.....that...f-forest is dangerous......''
''Only at first. But when you get so far in, the danger fades and you find a beautiful flowerbed.''
''.....B-but.....Twilight said to go home....straight away........with Nyx....''
''Aw, don't worry. I have already told Nyx so that they do not worry about you.'' said Diamond, with a little faint smirk. ''So are you in or are you going to be little mommy's girl all your life?'' Night flinched again, the mention of the word 'mommy' scared her. But if Nyx already knew and if Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon was going with her, maybe she should go. After all, they did say sorry to her and they were being kind for a change.
''O-okay....''
''So you're in. Well come on.'' said Silver, with a smile but worry filled eyes.
The three fillies left the school building, without any of the CMC members spotting them. Diamond and Silver led the small nine year old to the dark forest. Night hesitated when they were coming to the entrance of the forest, looking frightenly at the almost dark trees. Diamond smirked a little, before changing her facial expression to a frown. ''You coming or what?''
''Yeah....'' mumbled Night, as she slowly walked forward.
As they walked through the scary forest, Night stopped every now and again but always forced herself to keep going. Some time later, it felt like they had been walking for half an hour but none of the three really knew. Night stopped once more, and screamed when she saw a tree with a terrifying face on it. Diamond smirked, that was what she needed. The filly bawling in tears because of a scary face. She picked a rock up from the path, a hard and sharp rock. Silver gasped, but didn't find the strength to stop her friend. Diamond walked over to the crying filly, without the child noticing, and slammed the rock hard on the filly's head to the point that blood leaked from it mixing with her violet mane. and leaving her unconscious.
''Diamond, you shouldn't have done that!'' cried Silver Spoon.
''Oh. Shut up, you wimp. And if you tell anypony what happened, then consider yourself dead.''
Silver quieted down, with fright in her eyes. But she followed the pink pony out of the forest, taking one last look at the unconscious filly with a sad tear rolling down her eye as she mumbled. ''I'm sorry, Midnight....''
By the time, the two fillies left the woods it was sundown. The pink aura lit the sky, as the sun faded across the horizon. Diamond smirked, whilst Silver looked frightened. Both knew what could happen to Night during the night hours, and both had different opinions on it too. But neither one spoke a word to each other, and soon parted ways.
About a hour passed, and Night woke up. Blood dripped on the ground, as she shuffled into a seating postion. She looked around, seeing danger in every corner. And that was when she noticed that it was night time. She blinked in horror, and tears rolled down her face as she mumbled out. ''I want my mommy!''
Author's Note
Okay, here's part one to a two parter.
Night stumbled through the almost dead trees, on the earthen path. She didn't know where she was and Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon had left her. Not only that, but she had a huge stinging pain in the back of her head. Trees rippled down her cheeks as she kept her head bowed down.
Snarl!
She gasped in fright, she knew what that was. It was a timberwolf. She turned to see not one but a pack of timberwolves in the trees behind her. She screamed and began running quickly along the dark path. She turned to the left, and saw light. She thought that she was going to get out of the woods but instead, the light changed into a clearing where a huge earth wall. She gasped, and turned.
The timberwolves were still behind her, and they were getting there quick. She glanced down at her fabric covered wings. Could she make it to the top of the wall, before the wolfs got to her. She had to try! With fright in her heart, she began to flap her wings only for nothing to happen and as a wolf jumped out of the trees, she backed into the wall. Her wings were useless.
The wolves grew closer, was this going to be her end. She had finally found happiness in a horrible world and that was all going to end. She didn't want that. Tears rolled down her cheek as she mumbled. ''Mommy.....''
Half an hour earlier, at the Rainbow Friendship Castle. Twilight was pacing across the floor of the throne room. She was worried about Night, the small filly hadn't come home with Nyx and still wasn't home and it had become night. She was thinking that something bad had happened to her and even called Rainbow to send a search out with a few other pegasi.
Nyx was said in her throne, that stood beside her mother's and had her cutie mark imprinted into it. She watched her mother pace with worry filled eyes. She was too worried about Night, the filly hadn't met up with her when she headed home, at first the 10 year old had thought that her adoptive sister had walked home alone but when the small filly wasn't at home, she became worried.
''What if she's been kidnapped, what if her parents have found her, what if...'' said Twilight, worriedly as she continued pacing.
''Mom, relax. I'm worried too, but working yourself up will not help her, will it?''
''She's right, Twi. Your working yourself up to much, I mean you have worn a hole in the floor already.'' said Spike, chuckling a little from the hole that Twilight had indeed worn into the floor but had the same worried-filled eyes that Nyx and Twilight processed.
''Twilight, there's no sign of Night.'' said Rainbow, as she came in sharing the mother-daughter pair's eyes.
''She could be anywhere, if she's not in Ponyville!'' cried Twilight.
''Mom, like I said. Relax, don't you have a location spell that you used before you found me?''
''Oh yea, I forget. I guess I worked myself up that I forget about it. Thanks, Nyx.''
The mare's horn light up but a shout interrupted the mare's concentration. ''You don't have to use that spell just yet, I know where she is!''
The two mares, the filly and dragon looked to the entrance to the throne room to see a silver colored earth pony. Nyx gasped in shock and mouthed. ''Silver Spoon, you know where sis is?''
''Yeah....me...and Diamond...wanted to teach her...a lesson for her...into break questions....and we sorta.....sent her into the Everfree.....'' mumbled Silver. ''Diamond then hit the small....filly on the head with a rock.....''
Twilight walked over to the filly, and raised her hoof. Silver flinched, but blinked when no hoof hit her. She looked up and Twilight hugged her saying. ''Thank you for telling me. You're very brave to come here, knowing that you could possibly be punished. Wait here for the time being, I'll be back'' Twilight then turned to her friends and family. ''I'm going to find her, give this filly a few cookies as a sign of my appreciation.''
''Okay, Twi. But will you be fine?'' asked Rainbow, with a concerned tone.
''Rainbow, I have been in the forest before. I know what I'm doing but I have to go save my daughter.'' The mare didn't even realize what she had called Night, but it didn't matter to her.
Night was still cowering. The wolves had her cornered. She looked around for something, she didn't even have her wand on her so that didn't help. She saw a rock and picked it up. The filly looked at it before weakly throwing it at the Timberwolves. Because of how weak the throw and aim was, it missed and the wolves grew closer.
Tears continued rolling down the small filly's face as she closed her eyes. Suddenly a blast of magenta light hit her closed eyelids, forcing them to open. In front of her, she saw Twilight using a spell to repel the wolves. The spell worked and the wolves retreated. Night breathed a sigh of relief before she leaped at Twilight yelling. ''Mommy!''
Twilight gasped a little, before she hugged the small filly. She stroked the filly's beautiful but now ragged mane and saw the blood that ran through it. This Diamond Tiara was evil, to this to a filly who has already severed enough. She felt some muscles relax, and she looked down. Night was unconscious, the emotions must have gotta the better of the small child.
She smiled, at least the filly was safe and alive and that was all that mattered, but still she had to do something about that filly, Diamond Tiara but what?
Twilight took the small filly back to the Rainbow Friendship Castle. Rainbow and Silver Spoon were still there and became worried when they saw the unconscious filly laying on Twilight's back. Silver ran over and looked worriedly at the filly and said gently. ''I-Is...she alright?''
''She's alright. I got there just in time, once again thank you...umm?'' said Twilight, gently.
''Silver Spoon, Miss Twilight.''
''Thank you, Silver Spoon. Thanks to you I was able to save my daughter from Timberwolves.''
''Timberwolves?!'' gasped Silver.
''Yep, looks like your former friend when a little farther than she did with Nyx.''
''Wait.'' said Silver, realizing something. ''Daughter? I thought you were only her legal guardian.''
''Well, she called me 'mommy' earlier, so we'll see. But after what has happened to her, I would adopt her to protect her from any troubles. But first off, I need to get her to bed.''
''I'll be done here.''
Twilight smiled and carried her young 'daughter' up the staircase. The alicorn took Night into her bedroom, and placed the small filly in under the beautiful blue blanket. Twilight smiled as the small filly slept in peace before she left her bedroom, turning off the bedroom's lights off. She walked back downstairs into the throne room.
''You put her to bed, Twi?'' asked Rainbow, from her throne.
''I did, Rainbow. She's asleep in my bed.'' said Twilight, gently before she noticed something. ''Where's Nyx.''
''She retired to her bed, shortly after you left. And why is Night in your bed, doesn't she have her own room?''
''Actually, she doesn't yet. I have going to ask you girls about that.''
''So you planning on turning one of spare bedrooms into that small filly's bedroom?'' asked Rainbow, with a smile lit on her face. ''I'll help, and I'm pretty sure everypony else will.''
''Um...if you don't mind me asking.'' spoke Silver, joining the conversation. ''Where will Midnight go while you decorating her room?''
''Well, I don't really know about that.'' said Twilight, with a frown.
''Well, if you don't mind. She could come to mine for the afternoon.''
''Would that be alright with your parents, Silver?''
''Papa and mama are never home, I have butlers who care for me and they won't mind if I bring somepony over after all, back when I was friends with Diamond I took her over a lot.''
''I see, well. She can go with you if she wants to but after her experience, I think she won't trust you well. But then again, the renovation could wait to after her birthday which is in a week and that why she can get use to you.''
''I like that plan, Twi.'' agreed Rainbow. Silver nodded in agreement. Rainbow then looked down at the filly. ''Well, I suppose it's time to go home. I'll take you, Silver. Just show me the way.''
''Thank you, Miss Rainbow Dash.'' said Silver. ''And thank you, Miss Twilight for believing and understanding.''
The two ponies left the castle, leaving Twilight to herself for a while. She said down on her throne, and was lost in thought. Night had called her 'mommy', it reminded her of the first time Nyx called her mommy, but that was a long time ago and it was a sad experience for the pair of them. But what was she going to do now?
The mare was so lost in thought that she didn't spot the preteen black alicorn filly walk into the room and sit down on the small chair to hers. The ten year old gently spoke to the mare ''Mom, it not good to be lost in thought. Remember the last time you did that, you almost lost me forever.''
''Ah....'' murmured Twilight, spotting her daughter. ''Sorry, Nyx. I gotten Night home but something she said to me got me lost in thought.''
''What did she say?''
''Well, she called me mommy just before she fainted.''
''Well, do you see yourself as her mommy?''
''Yes, I do. But should I really adopt her as my daughter, she's gone through so much already.''
''Well, why don't you see her opinion on the matter first. Then make your decision. But right now, it's time for both of us to sleep and making decision when you're tired isn't a good thing at all. You'll make the wrong decision.''
Twilight nodded at the filly, who smiled. The two ponies retired to their beds. Twilight got into her bed, next to the sleeping filly. She smile, and closed her eyes only to feel movement. Night had moved and was now cuddling her in her sleep. Twilight smiled happily with a few tears forming in her eyes. ''Good night, my Midnight.''
She then let sleep take her into it's warm embrace as she hugged the small filly.
The next morning, Night was the first to awaken. The filly yawned and blinked. She looked around, confused. She didn't remember anything. She looked at Twilight, who was still sleeping peacefully. That was when her memories returned to her, tears flooded her eyes as she remembered what had happened the previous night.
''Shh, it's alright.'' A body wrapped around the crying figure, Night didn't even need to look to see who it was. It was Twilight. ''What happened doesn't matter now, sweetheart.''
''M-Mommy.....'' mumbled the filly, before she realized her mistake. ''S-sorry....''
''It's alright, if you want to call me 'mommy' then I'm not fussed. I actually starting to see you as my daughter, Night.'' said the mare, with a smile as she hugged the filly.
''M-mommy......'' murmured Night, once more. ''I....wanna....be your...daughter.....like sis....''
Twilight didn't answer, instead she just hugged the sweet filly. Night smiled as she cried tears of happiness, she really had found what she had been searching for her entire life; happiness, joy and a family.

If you hate me for not taking out my revenge on DT, then don't worry all in due time. I just wanted to get this adorable scene out of the way.

Punishment (Evil last part)
Twilight, the mane six, their foals, Nyx, Night and Silver were walking down the streets. They were looking for Diamond Tiara. Night was looking awkwardly at Silver as they walked. The silver filly noticed she was being looked at and smiled, causing Night to look away blushing in embarrassment. Silver giggled then spotted something.
''Miss Twilight, she's over there.'' she said, pointing over to Diamond.
''Pinkie Pie, can you get me a crowd?'' asked Twilight, smiling.
''Sure thing, Twi. Come on, Surprise, Conny.'' said Pinkie, bouncing up and down as she walked. Surprise and Confetti followed their mother to collect in a crowd.
Within minutes, Pinkie was stood on the town fountain with a crowd of Ponyville ponies. Surprise flew over the ponies giggling all the way, and Conny simply walked beside them with a frown constantly on his face. They got to the front and sat beside Pinkie, who was smiling brightly before saying. ''Everypony, do you want a show?''
''We do!''
''Well, you're in luck. Me and my foals are going to show you the show 'the embarrassed filly'.'' said Pinkie, as she winked at Twilight.
''Rainbow, go get Diamond.'' said Twilight, quietly to not draw attention. ''Fluttershy, you and Screwball go get some animals.''
The two mares and the filly nodded and went to do their jobs. Rainbow picked up Diamond without asking the filly and dumped her next to Pinkie Pie, who grinned. Fluttershy and Screwball brought a bunch of baby bunnies and squirrels. Fluttershy then gently spoke to the critters. ''Go jump on the filly next to Pinkie Pie.''
The creatures saluted at Fluttershy before running over to Diamond Tiara and began jumping all over the filly. The filly screamed, she didn't like small woodland critters. Then as one of the baby bunnies jump on her head, it pooped and the brown slush crept over the pink filly's former beautiful face. She screamed and the crowd laughed in hysterics. Night watched from beside her adoptive sister, with a faint smile on her face but she too joined the the laughter from time to time. She was actually slightly happy that revenge was happening.
The animal continued tormenting the filly, by dressing her up in bird feathers and glue to simply jumping and pooping on her. By the end of the lunch hour, Diamond Tiara's coat was a right mess, it was tacky and there wasn't a speck of pink left. Not to mention, the white feathers that stuck in her also messed up mane.
What made matters worse was the fact that Diamond's father happen to walk by Twilight and the fillies. He saw Diamond crying her eyes out as the crowd was going wild. He gasped in some horror and walked up to Twilight, and questioned her. ''Why is my daughter being tormented like that, Miss Sparkle.''
''Oh, Mr Rich. Well, yesterday. My youngest daughter didn't come home with Nyx, and Diamond's best friend happened to come and tell me what your daughter did to my sweet filly. Your torment of a daughter left my little Midnight in the Everfree forest, unconscious to basically die.'' explained Twilight, calmly.
''I don't think I believe what you're saying is true, my daughter isn't one to commit acts like that.''
''Do you want me to prove it to you?'' asked Twilight, before she called Night over. The filly walked over and Twilight showed the patch of blood that laid in the filly's mane to Filthy Rich. ''You see this patch of blood.''
''But a patch like that could mean anything.''
''Miss Rich, your daughter slammed a rock on the back of my filly's head and then left her unconscious, don't you believe me when I say that?''
Rich sighed, he didn't want to have another argument with the princess. ''I believe we can come to terms here, I'll ask Diamond myself about this incident and you and your friends can stop tormenting her. If I find out what your saying is true then and only then will I punish her, but my way.''
''I agree, and after how much torment she's gone through already. I'm pretty certain that your daughter will tell the truth.'' said Twilight, gently. She then called to her friends. ''Girls, stop what your doing and bring Diamond Tiara over here. Pinkie, can you, Surprise and Confetti ask the crowd to leave.''
''Okay, Twi.'' said Pinkie, as the other ponies stopped the animals and brought the no longer pink filly over.
Diamond looked at Twilight with fear written all over her face and in her blue eyes. She then glanced at her father, with some hope in her eyes. Rich frowned and gently asked. ''Diamond Tiara, did you hit this filly with a rock yesterday and then leave her alone in the everfree forest unconscious.''
''...I uh....'' stammered Diamond, before looking down as she mumbled. ''Yes.......I did.....''
''Well, Miss Sparkle. I believe you now that my daughter has spoke the truth. I will see to her punishment as I see fit.'' said Filthy Rich, before he turned to Night. ''You little filly, don't expect her to be in school for a few days so you don't have to worry about anything. I'm sorry about what my daughter has put you through.''
''Well, I'm glad that we could agree, Mr Rich. Night, say thank you.'' said Twilight, with a smile.
''....T-thank....you....Mr....Rich.....'' stuttered Night, with a little smile on her face.
''I'll take my leave for now. Come along, Diamond Tiara. Your mother's not going to be too happy about this.''
The father and daughter pair walked away, Diamond herself having her head bowed with regret. The mane six and the fillies smiled, whilst Conny shrugged, he wasn't fussed. Applejack put her arm on Twilight's shoulder and said. ''Ya must be happy, Twi. Diamond Tiara's father listened to ya and now that terror of a filly will get the treatment she deserves.''
''I am happy, Applejack because my daughter doesn't have to go through what she went through anymore.''
''And ah'm happy for ya, Twi. Now come on, girls. We have to get some late hour lunch.'' said Applejack, with a smile before she and the other members of the mane six walked off.
''You must be happy too, right Night?'' said Twilight.
''I...am....because Diamond Tiara....will stop but....I'm also grateful......'' said the small filly, causing Twilight to look at her with confusion. ''Without that happening.......you might not have become.....my mommy.....''
''Your right, now come on, you two. We need to get Spike and have some lunch.'' Nyx and Night nodded in agreement, and the group walked back to the castle, all of them smiling happily.

About three days passed for the Friendship Castle residents, Night hadn't gone back to school even with the knowledge that Diamond Tiara wouldn't be there. Instead, she had locked herself in Twilight and her's bedroom and was concealed in her thoughts, the only time she really came out was to eat or sleep.
The incident had brought back memories that she didn't want to see ever again, memories of her mother and father and her past before coming to Twilight. They now constantly flashed through her mind without her being able to stop it, and tears tended to roll down her face when she saw them.
The small filly was jolted from her thoughts by a knock and a voice that she was familiar with . ''It's lunch time so I thought that you might be hungry so I brought you some soup and bread.''
Night turned to look at the door to see Twilight, she sadly frowned at the worried expression that was written on Twilight's face. She didn't want Twilight worrying about her, but the only way that the worrying would stop would be if the memories would stop flashing through her mind or if she told Twilight about them.
The filly nodded, and so Twilight came over with the tray of food. The mare sat down on the bed next to the small white filly who simply looked down. Twilight placed the tray in front of the filly, who silently began eating. The alicorn frowned, Night wasn't like this before the incident. What had happened ''Night, is something wrong?''
''N-no.....'' mumbled the filly who gritted her teeth. She had lied straight through her teeth and the stutter showed it.
''Then why did you lock yourself in here, alone?'' Night didn't answer, only adding to Twilight's worry. ''D...did a memory from your past come to the surface?'' Night flinched, the mare was right. Twilight frowned to herself, the filly had finally found happiness but was now trapped by her memories, memories that she had to suffer to get. ''Why don't you tell me about them, it will help to get them off your chest.''
Night frowned, should she tell Twilight to true extent of her past. About her mother, her father and her sister? She was so conflicted that she didn't know. Her past frightened her to talk about but she trusted her adoptive mother but she didn't really wanted the mane 6 and Nyx knowing, she didn't know what to do at all. She then thought of something. ''If.......you tell...nopony...not even Nyx.........then I'll tell you....''
''I don't know if I can promise that, Night. For starters, Nyx is your sister even if you're not blood related and she worries about you greatly. So if I can at least tell her, then I can promise it.''
Night thought about it for some time, before she gently sighed and mumbled. ''Alright......you can tell....her...but only her.....'' Twilight nodded in agreement, and waited for Night to continue. Midnight sighed before speaking. ''Well....it all started....almost ten years ago....on the 17 of November........''
Flashback, almost ten years prior. November 17.
A female unicorn was screaming in agony, as her husband held her hoof. The mare was pregnant and about to have a twins, and she wasn't in the best of moods at all. The stallion winced a little as his wife gripped more tightly on her hoof. The mare then screamed ''Gets these fucking foals out of me, doctor.''
''The first foal is almost out, Miss Sunrise Wish.'' said the doctor. ''Just one more push should do it.''
Sunrise glared at the doctor, seemly saying he was the one who put her through this but she did what she was told and the baby was born. A infant covered in brown fur and had a bush of red hair, and a unicorn horn lit on it's head. When it opens it eyes, it had it's father's blue eyes making the foal a perfect doppelganger of it's father. The doctor smiled and said. ''This one is a filly. Now just push a little more, the second foal shouldn't be too far off.''
The mare once again glared at the doctor, but keep pushing and using breathing techniques that she had been told. The second foal was soon born, this one coated in white fur and had a beautiful mane of violet, lavender and pink and processed her mother's golden eyes. But to the mare, the filly's appearance was crushed by the sight of the filly's back, a pair of feathery things were there. The doctor smiled, not noticing the mare's frown. ''Well, looks like you have had two fillies, one unicorn and one pegasus. You must be proud, Miss Sunrise Wish and Mr Brave. Now may I ask for their names.''
''Well, earlier in my wife's pregnancy we agreed that I would name the second foal and she would do the first so, Sweetie Pie, what's the little unicorn's name gonna be.'' said Mr Brave, with a proud smile.
''Midday Wish.'' answered the panting but slightly angry mare.
''And the little pegasus will be named Midnight Wish, she's cute.''
''Now, Mr Brave. I'm pretty certain that the Wish family is made up of only unicorn so I'll ask you this, is there any relatives of yours who are pegasi.
''As a matter of fact, I do. It's my mother.''
''Well, thank you because that'll explain your youngest's wings.''
A faint grumble was heard, the new found mother looked annoyed as she had to feed both of the foals when she clearly didn't like the pegasus filly.
''...That was just the beginning of it...papa always adored me....and Midday.....but mother.....'' spoke Midnight, gently as she received a shocked expression from Twilight.
Flashback, 5 years prior. In Midnight's pov
I was only five when it started, though even before then mother would throw insults and various other bad words at me. Midday got everything from her, my sister couldn't do anything in mother's eyes. Me, I was left in the dirt. Though, I had papa who loved me for who was was, not what I was.
''Papa, why does mama only treat sis with kind and warmth.'' I asked, to my papa one day.
''I'm not entire sure, sweetheart. My opinion on it is that your mother didn't want a pegasus, only a unicorn like me, your sister and your mother.''
''...But why wouldn't she want a pegasus?''
''Well, one day when I was talking to her. She said that she only wanted a unicorn because she could teach her or him magic like the magic she uses.''
''Why can't pegasi use magic?'' I asked.
''Well, you don't have a horn so you can't focus your magic like unicorns can.''
''But if I can use magic, I'll make mama impressed and make her happy.''
''You have magic, just not unicorn magic.'' said my papa, with a smile.
''What do you mean?''
''You'll understand one day.'' Papa smiled, before he pushed me off his lap and walked off.
I frowned, what did he mean. Wait, I'm certain that I still have it. I bolted upstairs to to my attic of my bedroom, I dipped my head into the toy truck and pulled out a toy wand, that was blue with a bow. ''Good, I still have it.''
Twirling around, I waved the wand. Sparkles erupted from it, unexpectedly and my toys that was scattered around the room began levitating and they then floated into the toy truck. I smiled, I did it! I can use magic, the wand then glowed itself and changed into a real magicians wand that the magicians used in the cartoon series that me and sis watched but kept it's color and bow.
I kept practicing for hours, and eventually a glow covered my flank. I gasped, and soon a image of my wand and a bunch of sparkles appeared on my flank. My cutie mark! This was my talent!? ''Yippee, wait till mama sees this!''
I bolted downstairs, carrying my wand. I passed papa, who looked shocked but I didn't stop. I soon bumped into my mother who was walking with sis. The mare looked down at me with shock written in her eyes but it soon changed into anger. ''May I ask why are you running, Midnight Wish?''
''Mama! Mama! Mama! I got my cutie mark!'' I yelled, at the top of my lungs. I showed her the mark that had recently appeared on my flank.
''What's the point in a cutie mark related to magic, if you have no magical skills.'' said mother, harshly.
''But mama.....I used magic!''
''Sure, you did.'' Mother then did something unexpected, she slammed me much to my father's, who had just got there, and my sister's shock. ''I'll not have a liar being my daughter.''
She then continued her insults and beatings, at least till papa pulled her off my bruise covered body. Sis helped me up, asking gently. ''Midnight, you alright.''
''I'm f-fine....Midday........'' And with that, I walked up to my bedroom hiding my tears behind my bangs.
''A-after...that....incident....most of my speech ended up with.......stutter in them....'' said Midnight, gently as she recalled the events of her past.
''But you had a kind and loving father, didn't you?''
''Only for a while......'' The filly stopped speaking, and didn't even think about her past. ''O-one....night....I came home from my former school and....mother had cooked. She made me.....eat it.....it tasted like rotten beef.....and it smelt horrible like the time I had burnt myself......And there was red hair in it.......and after that day, papa.....he didn't return''
Twilight hugged the filly, who silently began crying before she spoke the last part. ''I-I....t-think.....she cooked....papa.....''
''Is that all?'' asked Twilight, knowing the answer.
''No......after that, mama continued to beat me and starve me.....but....one day....''
Flashback, a few months prior. Still Midnight's pov.
I was alone in my room, when suddenly the door slammed open. I gasped and saw mother with my dull eyes. She had a piece of iron in her hooves that had oven mitts covering them. I didn't like the look of this, mother wearing oven mitts and holding a piece of probably hot iron, not good.
''Well, I had enough of raising you for the last nine fucking years. About time, I get rid of you.''
I gasped in horror, as the hot iron hit my side and dig it. The iron charred my skin, and created a small yet deep hole in my side. Blood leaked from it as my eyes went wide, filled with horror. I didn't even think about what I did next. I gritted hold of the iron, although it burnt me, I wasn't bothered. I then hit my mother on the head with the iron, and continued to beat her for everything she gave me. Blood leaked from her burnt wounds but I wasn't fussed at least till. ''Midnight, stop!''
I jolted back to reality and gasped in horror, as I looked at my mother's now dead figure. I panted and screamed out loud. Midday came over to me and managed to calm me down. I continued panting, but I was a little calmer now than I was before. Sis frowned as she hugged me, tears rolling down her face. ''Lets go, we can't stay here. Somepony will find out.''
''I....can't.....''
''Shh it's alright, I understand. But where's Midday right now?'' asked Twilight gently, as she hugged her adoptive daughter.
''I....don't really....know.....we got separated shortly after making it to Ponyville, she could be anywhere.....'' cried Midnight.
''Well, you told me what she looks like. Maybe I can find her for you, I'll take time but I'll try if you want me to.''
Midnight didn't answer, just nodded into her adoptive mother's chest as she continued crying, her memories overwhelming her. The small filly even fainted eventually, with tears still rolling down her face. Twilight frowned, but put the now sleeping filly to bed hoping that she wouldn't have a nightmare. She turned and then whispered. ''I have to find Midday......Night just isn't all that happy without her....''
Author's Note
Okay, I hope you'll like. This chapter has been in my mind for a few days now so it was relativity easy to write. Yes, Midday will be reappearing so don't worry too much.
Edit:Midday shouldn't be calling Midnight 'Night' as she doesn't get the nickname till after these events.
A few days past from the day Night told Twilight about her past and now it was the 17 of november. The alicorn had somehow gotten her daughter out of her train of thought to get her to go to Sugar Cube Corner. The filly had a confused expression on her face, but she followed Twilight. ''Mommy....why are we going to Pinkie's shop?.....''
''You'll see, Night. Now come on.''said Twilight to her daughter, who walked into the building.
Midnight looked around, it was pitch black. She didn't know what to think, but suddenly the rest of the Mane 6, Cheese Sandwich, Discord, the CMC, Screwball, Surprise and Conny popped out from every corner, as the lights switched on. ''Surprise!''
Night jumped and hid behind Twilight, who giggled and whispered some calming words to the little filly. Night walked out and looked around, fear filling her eyes. She didn't know what it was, but she had a good feeling that it was a party. The confetti and balloons that scattered the room were clues to her.
Pinkie came over with a smile. ''It's your birthday party, you scaredy filly.'' As she spoke, she placed a party hat on the filly's head, a party had that was blue with bows and wands decorating it.
''B-but....''
''Don't you say that parties are sinful.'' said Pinkie, putting a hoof over the filly's mouth. ''Now, come on. Presents! Open mine, my husband's and the twin's first.''
The pink party pony grabbed a pink present that was wrapped with a brown bow from the pile of multicolored presents and gave it to the filly, who stared at it with confusion. Pinkie giggled, and grabbed a chair for the filly to sit in. Night did so, and continued to look down at the present in her hooves. ''Open it!'' yelled Pinkie, full of excitement.
Night unwrapped the wrapping paper and bow from the present and gasped when she saw the present itself. It was a thick book, with a golden title of spells. She hadn't expected Pinkie to buy her a spell book. ''If you're confused, it was your mother's idea but she choose a different present so I got you it instead.''
''Oh, thank you, Auntie........ Pinkie...Uncle...Cheese....Surprise....and Conny. Thank you, mommy....''
Fluttershy smiled and took the present that was rested on her back, a big pink wrapped box with a yellow bow. She gave the present to the small filly. She smiled gently and said. ''It's the present from me, Discord and Screwball. We wanted you to have something that you could be responsible for but also something to make you happier.''
Night blinked in confusion but unwrapped the present. She wasn't expected a noise to erupt from the present or for the lid to fly off. She gasped in some shock when she saw the present, a black kitten wearing a blue bow. ''Her name's Star, her owners left her but I can't see a better pony to be her new owner.'' said Fluttershy, with a smile.
''Thank you...Auntie...Fluttershy.'' said the filly, before turning to Discord and Screwball. ''Thank you all....''
''Now, it's mah turn.'' said Applejack, as she picked up her present from the pile. It was a green present that was designed with apples and didn't have a bow like the others. She gave it to Night, who looked at it curiously. ''It just something that ah made with a little help from yer Auntie Rarity.''
The filly listened as she opened the present. She picked up the present and it unfolded itself to become a long filly-sized blanket, that was green with zap apples designed into it. She smiled gently at Applejack. ''Thank you, Auntie....AJ....and for helping Auntie AJ....thank you, Auntie Rarity.''
Rainbow grinned, as she flew above the pile and took her present, a rainbow colored one. She flew down and landed in front of Night, who looked a little surprised. The cyan pegasus handed the filly the present before going to stand by Twilight. ''My present works with Applejack's, just so you know.''
The filly nodded, before opening the present. Rainbow was right, the present did work with Applejack's. It was a white pillow with a rainbow going diagonally across the pillow. Night smiled and hugged the present, before saying gently. ''Thank you, Auntie Rainbow Dash for this soft present.''
''Well, I guess I'll go now.'' said Rarity, who smiled at the white filly. She grabbed her present, which was blue with a more than a couple bows over it. The unicorn then handed it to the pegasus filly, who smiled. ''I made it myself, after getting the information from Twilight about what you liked.''
Night nodded, and like all the others, opened the present. The present was a five year old filly-sized onesie, that would fit her perfectly. The onesie was blue and designed with stars, that trailed the sleeves. It was also designed with drawn on bows, that were white against the blue body of the onesie, and it was also designed with a couple red drawn on wands. Overall, it was amazing and it made Night smiled. ''Thank you....Auntie Rarity.''
''Hey! Hey! Can the Crusaders go now?'' asked Applebloom. Her wish was granted and the energetic earth pony went to grab her present. A yellow and red striped one. The ten year old handed the present to her nine year old fellow crusader. ''After finally earnin' mah mark, ah made this and wanted ya to have it.''
Night nodded, and opened the present. A smile brighten on her face and she hugged Applebloom. The present was a apple framed painting of a starry night, painted with such care and texture that it even made Rarity smile. ''Thank you, Applebloom. This is amazing....I'll treasure it....''
''Oh! Oh! My turn!'' said Sweetie Belle, as she grabbed her pink and purple spotted white present. The unicorn filly smiled brightly as she bounced over to the sitting pegasus filly, and gave the present to her. ''It just something that I brought together last minute but I hope that you like.''
Night looked at the small packet of a present and opened it. She smiled when she saw the present, a CD that had the words written on it; Sweetie Belle's favorite lullabies in big bold pink and purple letters. ''Mommy, do we...... have a CD........player here?'' asked the little filly, kindly.
''I believe so. Pinkie, can you get me your CD player?'' said the alicorn, to her friend.
''Sure, Twi. Be right back down.'' said Pinkie, before bolting up the staircase and coming right back down with two 3 year old foals, that were Pumpkin and Pound Cake, carrying the CD player. ''Pound, Pumpkin. Put the CD player in front of the small filly sitting down then you can go back upstairs.''
The filly and colt nodded and placed the CD player down in front of Night, who smiled. Pumpkin smiled at Night, before Pound dragged her back up the stairs. Night placed the CD into the player, and listen to the first song. It was Sweetie Belle singing her version of 'Hush Now! Quiet Now!' but in a better voice. ''Thank you....for this present....Sweetie Belle....'' said Night, before she hugged Sweetie.
The pegasus filly left the CD playing. Scootaloo was next in the group to bring her present, it had been wrapped in orange and purple swirl wrapping paper. The orange pegasus smiled at Night, before she gave the present to her. ''It just something that I had when I was younger but I've grown too old for her it.''
Night smiled, and opened the present. It was a simple brown teddy bear with a blue bow tied around it's next. The filly looked at it with a smile and that was when she noticed the silver jewel that was attached to the bow that contained the words 'Scootaloo'. Night smiled and hugged Scootaloo, whilst saying. ''Thank you, Scootaloo.....I'll treasure it....''
Dinky and Twist giggled as they came up together. They were each carrying one present though small; Dinky's yellow and periwinkle and Twist's white and red. Night opened the two presents to see some Candy Canes from Twist and some muffins from Dinky. She giggled a little and said. ''Thank you, girls.''
The pair walked back to the group and let the newest member walk up, with a sad smile on her face. It was Silver Spoon carrying a small silver wrapped present, that had a single blue bow attached to it, in her hooves. Night smiled a little, and said. ''It's alright....Silver...you were being....forced into it....''
Silver smiled and walked up to the filly and gave the present to her newest friend. ''It's just something that I wanted to give you, the CMC don't even know about it.''
Night just smiled and opened the present. What it was made a couple of tears leak from her eyes. It was a picture frame containing a picture of the CMC wearing their capes, and Silver Spoon was there with a little smile as she wore her new cape. ''Thank you...Silver Spoon, this is an amazing gift.'' said Night, as she hugged the silver filly.
The next few presents were from her family. Nyx was first, carrying a black and purple present in her hooves. The alicorn filly looked down at her little sister before saying. ''This is something to make you look cuter, little sis.'' Night smiled and opened the little present to see two sea blue ribbons. Nyx took the ribbons from the filly's hooves, and without telling the filly what she was doing, put the filly's hair up into pigtails with the ribbons. ''There! I'd knew you would look cuter. Take a look'' said Nyx, giving Night a mirror.
Night looked at her hair in the mirror with a shocked expression, before smiling and hugging her older sister, mumbling under her breath. ''Thank you.....''
Spike was next, because Twilight wanted to go last. He was carrying a unwrapped present that the CMC gasped a little at, it was Smarty Pants, Twilight's old doll. The baby dragon gave to doll to Night, who looked at it with curious eyes. ''I had to Twilight's permission first but here you go, little Midnight.''
''Thank you, Spike.'' said Night, as she hugged him gently.
''Looks like it's my turn now.'' said Twilight as she walked over with a small present that was wrapped in blue wrapping paper and had a little bow on it. The alicorn nuzzled the daughter, and smiled ''I hope you like it, my Midnight.''
Night smiled and opened her last present. A little gasped escaped her throat as she looked down at the present with tears of joy filling up her golden eyes. It was a blue wand that was starshaped and had a bow wrapped around the golden stick. She looked up at Twilight and said with a joyful voice. ''Thank you, mommy.''
''Wanna try it out, or wait till later. After all, it is getting a little late and I have a date tonight.''
''I'll wait if you have a date, mommy....but who with?''
''Not telling, you'll find out.'' said Twilight, with a giggle.
Author's Note
Okay, if you haven't figure it out from this chapter. Night's favorite color is blue, mainly sea blue because she has always wanted to go to the seaside. And as for Night's sister, Midi (As I'm calling her) will be appearing in a few chapters time, first I have to figure out how and plus, I hope you don't hate me but I am going to add some romance in for Twilight, possible with....Dash cause I haven't wrote a Twidash fic before.
''Pinkie will be here soon to foalsit you two.'' said Twilight, looking at her two daughters who stood in the doorway of the castle. Rainbow stood behind her with a smile on her cyan face. The alicorn mare frowned a little and asked nervously. ''You sure that you'll be fine for a some time on your own?''
''We'll be fine, mom. But why is Pinkie foalsitting us?'' asked Nyx.
''She's foalsitting you because she's the only one not busy tonight because Cheese often to take care of the bakery and the twins. Fluttershy isn't able to trust Screwball alone with her father, Rarity has a order to fill and she has to look after Sweetie Belle and Applejack can't come because she too has a date.'' said Twilight, with her nervous expression clean on her face. ''Now, see you, girls later when me and Dash come back.''
Nyx and Night waved goodbye to their adoptive mother, who walked away with her marefriend. The two fillies smiled at each other, before Nyx led the younger filly into the building and upstairs to the playroom. Nyx looked around the room, toys scattered everywhere and it made a faint frown to covered her face. ''Looks like we're gonna have to clean.''
''Yeah.....'' agreed Night.
Nyx sighed and the pair of the fillies began putting the various toys into their two toyboxes. Nyx sighed with relief when all the toys were clean from the floor leaving a rather normalish playroom in it's place. Night looked around and smiled a little. She picked up her new wand and waved it, picking up various rubbish that also scattered the floor and placed them into the bin. Nyx watched with a smile. ''Your magic is rather handy for these situations.''
''...I just did it because it was quicker....''
Nyx smiled, and said gently. ''Hey, do you have any other spells?''
''......I only know levitation and I rather have mommy nearby when I learn new ones.'' said Night, with a gently shake of the head. Nyx frowned and laid on the rug, looking at the white ceiling with her dragon eyes.
Knock! Knock! The girls were interrupt by knocking on the door and by a voice that was known all too well. ''Night, Nyxie! Auntie Pinkie Pie is here to foalsit you.''
''We're upstairs, Pinkie.'' called Nyx. ''In the playroom.''
Only mere seconds after Nyx had spoken, a pink figure appear at the door of the dimly lit room. The earth pony mare looked around the room with a disappointed frown. ''Why did you clean up? We're gonna be playing for hours in here, aren't we. I mean, I can't babysit you without having playtime; it's improper.''
''Pinkie Pie, we cleaned because we didn't want you to be annoyed by the heavy mess.''
''Oh yea, Nighty. Isn't that your new wand, I'm guess you used magic!?'' asked Pinkie, to the nervous pegasus.
''Yeah....I didn't want it to go to waste.''
''Thats so cool, isn't it, Nyxie!?'' yelled Pinkie, as she bounced up and down.
The black alicorn filly looked at the energetic mare for a moment. ''Why don't you calm down, Pinkie. You're scaring Night.''
''Oh, I'm sorry.'' said Pinkie, to the little filly who smiled gently. ''Oh yea, Nyxie. Where did Twi put the responsibilities list?''
''Oh, on the kitchen fridge.'' replied Nyx gently as she walked to the door. ''Come on, it's almost dinner time anyway.''
Pinkie and Night both nodded, Nyx smiled and walked out of the playroom door. The other two followed the alicorn across the corridor and down the staircase, into the kitchen. Nyx smiled gently, it was just as she had said, the list of responsibilities was on the kitchen fridge's door like her mom had placed it earlier. She tore it off and handed it to Pinkie, who gazed over it as Nyx spoke. ''Here, Pinkie. Mom wanted to make sure you did everything by the list so everything is wrote down.''
''Tell me about it, there is over 20 responsibilities here and I'm only watching you for the evening!'' cried the pink mare, worriedly.
''Um....will you be able to handle it, Auntie Pinkie?'' asked Night gently from her seat at the table. She too had a worried expression, that she shared with Pinkie and Nyx.
''I believe I'll be fine, Nighty. I did care for the cake twins only three years ago, I'm sure I'm gonna be alright. After all, Pound and Pumpkin were only a month old and boy, were their powers strong.'' said Pinkie, quietly as she recalled the day when she foalsitted the cake twins, she would never forget the worst/best day of her life.
''You foalsitted the cake twins....'' murmured Night, quietly.
Pinkie giggled gently. ''I was their go-to foalsitter. But that doesn't matter, according to this, Twi wants you to have pizza for dinner tonight. And after that, there's a method of how to cook it. Twi, I know how to cook.....'' Pinkie sighed to herself.
''Mom just wants everything perfect, it's not your fault, Pinkie. But you might want to get started, it's almost dinner time after all.''
Pinkie nodded and begin baking the pizza, Nyx went and joined her sister at the table as they waited patiently for their meals. About 30 or so minutes later was when Pinkie came to the table carrying three dishes of pizza. The dishes were placed in front of all three of them, and with a small smile, they began eating.
''...Um...thanks, Auntie Pinkie....these are amazing.'' said Night, as she nibbled on the crest of her first one before moving onto the second.
''Night is right, these are perfect. Looks like mom has nothing to worry about.'' said Nyx, with a smile.
''Aw, thanks girls.'' said Pinkie, with a caring smile before she gripped hold of the list. ''What's next? Oh, bath time!''
Both of the sisters looked at each other happily, both of them loved baths. After all, their first meeting with Twilight led to a bath. Pinkie noticed this and smiled, knowing it be relatively easy. The earth pony looked at the bath time methods, and sighed in frustration. Twilight had placed two different methods on how to wash the pair.
All of them washed the dishes and went to the bathroom. Pinkie helped Night out of her vest and wing covers and of course, the bandage. The mare frowned when she saw the still open wound on the side of the filly's body, it either was never going to close or it will scar pretty horrible and she already had a lot of scars. Nyx watched as she also got out of her vest and headband, and frowned gently at the filly's scars and wound.
''Okay, girls. Nyx, according to this, you don't need my help but Night you do because you can't wash out that wound out on your own.'' said Pinkie.
Night nodded, and let Pinkie help her into the bathroom as Nyx climbed in herself. Pinkie helped wipe over the filly's body, using the shower gently then she washed the wound, being as gentle as she could muster. The filly winced a little. Pinkie frowned and said. ''Oh, did I hurt you there?''
''A bit.....''
Nyx watched as she also washed herself, having taken the shower from Pinkie. The black alicorn spoke ''Pinkie, I'm finished by the way.''
''Oh. Ok, Nyxie. Can't you get out?'' asked the pink mare.
''I can, I was just telling you so you knew.''
Pinkie nodded as she continued to gently wipe the wound on Night's side. Nyx frowned at her sister's wincing as she climbed out of the bath tub and grabbed the towel. She wrapped the towel around herself, for a moment as she levitated her headband. She dried her mane and gently secured the headband on her head, pulling her mane back behind her horn.
Pinkie kept one eye on the drying filly, as she gently helped Night out of the bath. She helped Night dry herself before gently grabbing a new bandage. She wrapped it carefully around the filly's body, making certain that her wings could slip through then she placed the vest on top, she picked up the wing covers but didn't see the point in placing them on Night's wings because of how late it is. ''I'll put these in your room, Night. Get yourselves dry, girls.''
10 minutes later, Pinkie and the sisters were sitting in the living room, that was lit only by the fireplace. The sisters were sitting by the fire, using them to roast marshmallows. Pinkie scanned the list for the next chore. ''Girls, I know what's next. It's a very brief playtime. Brief, as in a short time?''
''Pinkie, it is already 6 O'clock.'' said Nyx, as she pulled her marshmallows away from the fire and begin eating them.
''I suppose, but is it really necessary that it's brief?''
''I guess, but we do have story time after that before go to bed.''
''Right, oh well. Let's go to the playroom. Eat your marshmallows.''
Both of the fillies nodded, and ate their marshmallows gently. Then they followed Pinkie up stairs and to the playroom. ''So what do we do this?'' asked Nyx.
''Just play!'' said Pinkie, joyfully before she went to play with a dollhouse. Nyx and Night side glanced at each other before going to play with a couple of soft toys.
About 30 minutes later of playing, Night yawned gently as she dropped her bunny soft toy. Pinkie noticed this, and smiled sadly. ''Looks like it's story time. Nyx, you tired?''
''A bit, but we can read the story in Night's and mom's room. I'll stay awake and go to bed afterwards.'' said Nyx, gently as she helped the small filly next to her to her hooves.
The three ponies walked out of the playroom and into Twilight's bedroom. Night laid into her's and Twilight's bed, yawning tiredly. Nyx sat down on a nearby stool as Pinkie grabbed a story book, the list had told her the exact book to read, it was 'Nyx of the Night', Nyx's favorite story and the one where her name came from.
Pinkie read the story for the next 4 minutes until Night fell to sleep, Nyx yawned herself causing Pinkie to stop reading because she didn't want the filly to fall asleep out of her own bed. Nyx got up, having noticed that Pinkie had stopped reading, and walked into her own bedroom next door. Pinkie smiled, yawned a little but went downstairs into the living room. She laid on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket until Twilight and Rainbow came back.
40 minutes later, and the front door opened. ''Pinkie, we're back!'' It was Twilight, Pinkie yawned and walked into the hall, like she was in a trance. Twilight looked at the mare, with a frown. ''You're tired, aren't you? You should head home now.''
Pinkie yawned once more and said gently. ''Alright, the girls are asleep. Is Rainbow staying over?''
''Yes. After all, she is involved in what we're doing tomorrow.'' said Twilight, glancing at a tired Rainbow. ''See you tomorrow morning, Pinkie.''
''Yeah, see you tomorrow, Twilight, Dashie.'' said Pinkie, yawning before she left the castle. With the pink mare gone, Twilight went to her's and Night's bedroom, smiling at the filly in her bed. And Rainbow went to the guest room.

About the playroom, yes they do have one. It's a castle, they can have their own room for play!
As for the TwiDash, some may have seen my comment on it but I'll tell you, it will be in the backdrop. At least til I know what I'm doing. (Though there will be a little surprise in this story shortly after Midi is properly introduced in the next chapter)

Did I forget somepony is this chapter, cause I have a feeling I did? And I might have rushed it too.
A small filly sat alone in the window of a cottage. It with midnight, her favorite time of the day. She peered at the moon, as it's light beams lit up her beautiful brown coat. Her blue eyes shimmered and showed all the emotions that the little filly had. Her messy, tomboyish red mane laid limply on her head. Even her cutie mark was dim and lifeless, a beautiful butterfly that was lifeless. This was Midday Wish, more known as Midi.
She was thinking gently, as she sung a rather sad lullaby in a dim, sad tone. Suddenly, a shrill cry rippled through the air. It was Lavender, one of the two other ponies living in the cottage. A voice followed the shrill crying tone in the same loud, fright ridden tone. ''Midi! Midi! Midi! Midi! Midi!''
Midi gently sighed but rushed from her window ledge and over to the filly's bed. The tiny, 3 year old had risen from her sleep from a nightmare and wanted Midi to calm her down, it was something that happened frequently to the young filly. Midi sadly smiled as she got onto the bed and wrapped her hooves around the filly. ''It's alright, Lavender. Nopony's gonna hurt you, not while I'm around anyway.''
''B-but...in my....dream, you...l-lost....your....head.....'' cried Lavender, stumbling on her words at various points. Her raspberry eyes leaking harshly.
''Shh, nopony's gonna decapitate my anytime soon. Not before I meet my sister again.'' said Midi, gently as she took hold of a pendant that formed half of a heart, her sister had the other half.
Lavender calmed at the sound of the word 'sister'. ''Midi. One thing......you never told me what happened to separate you and your sister.''
Midi sadly smiled as a tear ran across her cheek and off her muzzle. ''Well, you remember that stormy night from about a month ago. Well, me and my sister, Midnight, was out in it....''
Flashback, Midi's pov
''M...Midday....stop....'' cried Night, I turned around and saw her panting, laying in a dirty water that laid the streets of Ponyville. Most ponies would have just left the injured pegasus to her doom, but not me. She's my sister, and despite my mother's treatment of her, I wasn't going to let her die anytime soon.
''We have to continue, Midnight. Laying down, waiting for death, isn't the answer.'' I cried, trying to help her to her hooves. I succeeded only to have a gust of wind blind me and send me off course.
Next minute, I opened my eyes to find myself still in the thick storm but with Midnight nowhere in sight. I cried desperately, my sister was missing and I wanted to find her. Without me, she probably would have committed suicide for being the 'cause' of mother's death despite mother's treatment of her and the fact it was in self defence.
''Midnight! Midnight!'' I cried out, into the rain, but my vision blurred. I could hardly see with the rain anyway, but the fact I was becoming sick didn't help me much. Yet, despite my voices restraints, I kept crying out. ''MIDNIGHT! Midnight!!!!!!!! Where are you!!!''
Nopony ever heard my cry, and I broke down sobbing. Laying in the dirt was unpleasant but at that time, I couldn't care less. I wanted my sister, I just wanted her back! I kept on calling out, and eventually the force of the constant cries and sobs, my voice cracked and shifted into nothingness.
As my tears blurred my sight, I finally heard hooves coming towards me. I looked up, hoping it with Midnight, but my dreams were crushed as a cloaked figure stopped before me. As what look to be golden eyes peered at me, I heard a rhyming voice ''Well, what do we have here? Why, what are you doing, laying down there.''
I couldn't answer, worrying the pony a little. As the pony bent down to me, the hood fell off. I was shocked to know that the pony was a zebra mare, I knew what zebras were thanks to mom's tutoring but it was still a shock to discover one living in Ponyville. ''Why are you out here, little filly? Isn't it a little silly?''
I opened my mouth and finally found my dry voice. ''I-I...I'm...a orphan....but my sister's gone....missing....''. The flood dams broke once more and tears out of my already much abused eyes.
The zebra mare sadly smiled and wiped my tears. ''Do not fear,little filly. For your sister isn't silly. She'll find home. You much follow, come to my home, come.''
''I...I don't even.....know your name....Miss....''
''Zecora, my dear. Now come along, come here.'' said the mare, now known as Zecora.
I wobbly got to my hooves, almost losing my balance in the process and slowly followed her. I didn't expect to be leaving Ponyville as I followed her, we walked towards a dark forest filled with unnatural trees, I had heard of such of forest before; the Everfree Forest. Mother had told various tales revolving around the forest and how it was so dangerous that nopony had returned yet this mare seemed to live within the forest.
I was scared at first, I won't lie. But as I followed Zecora through the green overgrowth, my fears eased and was erased from existence. I was no longer scared, in fact I was perfectly calm and the zebra seemed to note it. ''You're awfully calm for walking through this dangerous overgrowth, you like a peaceful moth.''
''This place isn't scary....I've seen much worse.'' I uttered gently, Zecora looked confused but nodded all the same. ''Um....Miss Zecora....why do you always speak in rhyme?''
''It's the speech of zebras, little filly. Surely you're not that silly.'' said Zecora, giggling a little to show that she wasn't being mean with that statement.
As we ventured through the overgrowth, we came to a cottage. A rather scary looking cottage, with various masks and potions hanging around. As we drew near, I realized that it was Zecora's home. We made it to the front door, and a sweet, singing voice was heard. I was confused, Zecora didn't live alone.
''Lavender, I'm home.'' called out Zecora. ''I have a guest who will be staying some.''
''Welcome back, mommy.'' said a voice, which originated from a white and black filly unicorn zebra with a mane of three-tones, purple, white and black. And as a pair of bold raspberry eyes spotted me, I got bombarded with a million questions. ''What's your name? Age? Where did you come from? Any siblings? Where's your parents?!'' And they were the ones that I catched.
''...Um....My name is Midday Wish....I'm 9 years old, I come from Canterlot. Yes, I have a twin sister. And my parents are dead.''
''Your name's Midday Wish, too hard. How about Midi? It's cute and short. Mi from Mid and Di from Day, Midi!''
''Alright.'' I replied, smiling.
End of flashback, no pov
''Wow, that's so touching. I hope you reunited with your sister again.'' replied Lavender, with a smile as she leaned on Midi. ''*Yawn* Goodnight...'' And with that said, the small filly zebra hybrid was fast asleep. Midi simply smiled and stroked Lavender's mane as she looked towards the moon before settling down and falling to sleep.

Hi, guys. I still have no idea where this is going but this will be ongoing for some time; my longest work and probably my best. As for when the next chapters come out, it probably will be before the end of next week.Here . Her horn comes from the fact she's a hybrid by mistake.
''Girls, now remember. You have to go to Sliver Spoon's home tonight because me and the girls have to do somethings important and we can't have you in the way.'' said Twilight, to her retreating daughters. The alicorn mare was stood at her front door, waving to her daughters.
''Alright, mom.'' called Nyx, for herself and Midnight. ''See you later.''
Twilight watched at Nyx lead Night to school, mumbling. ''See you later.'' The mare sighed before turning around. The mane six, Discord, Cheese Sandwich and Fluttershy and Pinkie's foals were standing in the corridor, all near a piece of construction equipment. And all of them were smiling.
''Are we ready now, Twilight?'' asked Rarity, as she held a color pallet in her magic.
''Yeah, Rarity.'' said Twilight before she turned to a little part of the group. ''Dash, Fluttershy, Screwball, Surprise. You're pegasi, can you take everything upstairs.''
''On it, Twi.'' said Rainbow, smiling at Twilight. ''Come on, pegasi.''
''Uh, problem. I hadn't got wings?'' said Screwball, pointing to her back. She was being a torment and Rainbow knew it.
''Screwy, your the princess of chaos. You don't need wings!'' said Rainbow, frustrated.
Screwball giggled. She began spinning the propellor on her hat, given to her by Pinkie, and began to float into the air. Rainbow noticed this and smiled. Soon, the four of them were carrying all of the stuff upstairs to where they were gonna build onto the guest room next to Nyx's bedroom.
''What should we do?'' asked Applejack. ''Ah would like to be the one to make that little guest room a little bigger.''
''That's a good idea, Applejack.'' replied Twilight before she turned to Pinkie, Cheese, Discord and Conny. ''You guys, can you help Applejack with that. I need to chat with Rarity for a moment.''
The group left for upstairs whilst Twilight begin chatting with Rarity. ''Rarity, I need a perfect color of paint but I can't really decide. Rainbow tells me to paint it white, because it's her coat color but I don't like that. What do you say about it.''
''I would suggest pink, she is a little filly after all and all little fillies like pink.''
''I don't really agree, and plus pink isn't Night's favorite color.''
A voice intercepted them. ''I think she would like a sky blue room with a rainbow flowing across it.'' Twilight turned to see Fluttershy. ''If you agree that is.''
''That's a good idea, Fluttershy. One I like. Her favorite color is blue after all.'' replied Twilight, nodded her head in agreement. ''And the rainbow idea is amazing because it will remind her of Dash.''
''About Rainbow, Twilight.'' said Rarity. ''There's a rumor going around that you proposed to her.''
Twilight blushed and nodded, happily. ''It's true, I have proposed to her, on the night of Night's birthday, and the wedding is next month. I'm still waiting to tell Night and Nyx about it but finding the right time in impossible in this castle.''
''Well, Twilight. Shouldn't we get back to the task at hoof.'' said Rarity. ''We still need a pick the perfect shade of blue.'' And she saw Twilight the light blue section which was numbered 1 to 5.
''Hmm, 3 seems like a good option.'' said Twilight, glancing over the sheet and nodding her head. She then turned to Fluttershy. ''How's the upstairs at the moment?''
''Well, everything necessary is in the playroom and we're just waiting to for Applejack to make the room bigger so we can start painting. I guess we now know the color so I'll tell Rainbow for you, Twilight.'' said Fluttershy as Twilight nodded. The cream pegasus smiled and turned to Rarity, who was still levitating the color pallet. ''Rarity, can you give me the color pallet.''
Rarity didn't speak but she gave Fluttershy the pallet. The pegasus smiled and flew upstairs to get Rainbow to collect the paint and brushes so they could begin painting the walls. Twilight smiled, her plan to give Night a bedroom was going without a hitch and she knew that her young daughter would be happy.
Later that day, Nyx and Night were standing just outside of Silver Spoon's home with the filly in question standing on the doorstep. Rainbow had come only a few minutes ago to tell them to come on home. The silver filly smiled at her new friends, she knew what was happening but knew not to tell either. ''See you guys later then.''
''See ya at school!'' called the sisters, as they walked off.
Night was thinking about what was happening back at home but thought it didn't concern her. Nyx knew about what was happening but Twilight her made her pinkie promise not to tell anyone, and that included Night. They simply walked side by side, in an eerie silence that was starting to creep the older filly out.
''W-We're almost home, Night.'' said Nyx, breaking the awkward silence.
''Okay....'' said Night, not very focused. She just wanted to get home, it had been a long day after all.
Soon the crystallized castle came into view, the fillies' faces lit up with a small smile. Night noticed that there wasn't anything different out the exterior of the castle, maybe in interior? She wanted to know, despite it likely having nothing to do with her. Nyx, however, just wanted to see Night's new bedroom.
They walked up to the castle and went inside. Twilight smiled when she saw them, as everypony else came up with a excuse to leave and they made a beeline to the door. This utterly confused Night, who asked. ''Um....am I in trouble...?'' Her thoughts were going haywire, if she was in trouble then what for because she didn't do much that Twilight could get anger about.
''No, you not. Girls, come along.'' said Twilight, with a smile.
''Hoo!'' came a voice. The group turned to see Owlowiscious and Peewee.
''You wanna come too, Owlowiscious, Peewee.'' asked Twilight, giggling.
''Hoo.''
Nyx giggled whilst Night looked a little confused. But it didn't matter all the same. Owlowiscious landed on Twilight back whilst Peewee landed on Night's ear. The group smiled and went upstairs. Night was confused, why was Twilight leading them upstairs. It just didn't make any sense, it was weird.
Soon, the group came along a bedroom door. And that was when Night realized what was going on. The nameplate on the door gave it all away, tears of happiness streamed from her eyes as she pushed open to door to see what laid behind. She gasped in shock at the beautiful site.
There, inside the room, was her bedroom. Walls of blue with a beautiful rainbow streaking across the wall opposite to her. A carpet of white, her second favorite color, with a blue rug saying 'Mommy's little filly'. A cabinet next to her and a beautiful, princess-sized bed. The bed was amazing, it was huge and had white veils coming from the ceiling. The bedding was blue, with rainbow pillows. Not only that, but various pictures had been hung up from her time living with Twilight and Nyx. Only one picture, however, touched her emotions. A picture of her hugging Twilight and there's was a name tag behind saying ''Mommy will always love you, Midnight.'' The craved words and the appearance of the room drew more tears to her eyes as she managed to stumble out. ''T-this is amazing.....Thank you, mommy.''
She ran over to Twilight and hugged her, tears of joy and happiness flowing free. She had never dream of having a room different to her former attic bedroom like she had when she lived with her former mom. It just made her incredible happy, but it almost drew a peg in her heart as she was reminded of her former home. Something was still missing from her life and that something was her missing sister, Midday Wish.
Ever since Midnight received her new room, her thoughts have only been on her sisters. She really wanted to reunite with Midday, it had been an entire month after all. Her thoughts, however, were so focused on Midday that her school work was suffering and today she was getting her winter term grades.
The school day when quick for the young filly, till eventually the day ended and everypony was given their grades. Night didn't even look at the sheet before she stuffed it into her bag, carefully of cause, and ran to meet up with Nyx to walk home. The pair hurried home, they had something to do that evening with the crusaders and wanted to get there as soon as possible.
They entered the door of the castle and dropped their bags just outside of the living room door where Twilight was. As the fillies rushed upstairs to get ready, Twilight came out and picked up their bags as she said. ''I wonder what their grades are.''
She levertaited the bags into the living room, taking the grade sheets from within them and scanning over them. She looked at Nyx's first, which in her eyes was pretty good. Mostly a straight A but with a single B in science. The mare smiled, before cracking open Night's grade sheet.
'Lets see what she did.
History:A. Looks like those study groups we did were pretty good.
English:B. Well, not the A I had expected but still pretty good.
Geography:A. Wow, her grades in History and Geography are pretty good. I wonder if her Religious Education grade is the same.
Science:B. I'm not too surprised there, it's obvious her mom taught her little to nothing and what she has learnt comes from me and the school. But lets look at the split version.
Biology:C. Wow, that's low. Wait there's a comment from Cheerilee. ''Twilight, it seems that Biology is Midnight's weakest point of science. It seems that she believes in other things, other then what is necessary.'' Wow, that's not very good. I'll have to go other that with her. But, lets see the other two.
Chemistry:B. Hmm, almost prefect.
Physics:A. That's very good, I'm gonna have to reward her for these A's.
Religious Education:D. Wow, that's pretty bad. Well, lets look over the note. ''Twilight, much like with Biology. Midnight seems to know things that aren't necessary. I do hope you come up with a solution because while it may sound harsh, this cannot go on.'' That's not very good, I'm gonna have to talk to her about these.
Spelling:100%. Wow, she's definitely gonna get some sort of reward.
Maths:F. How in Equestria did she get a F in Maths, we tried so hard with this subject. ' Twilight thought as she gasped at the very bad Maths' grade. The mare was thinking about simply talking with Midnight, like she was gonna do with Religious Education and Biology but her eye caught a note that was attached to the Maths' grade.
I am sorry to inform you, Twilight but your newest daughter is having some harsh difficulties with Maths. I'm not sure what the problem is but when they were doing the test, I had to give Midnight more time to complete it. It's such a shock, unlike in Biology and Religious Education, she generally doesn't understand most of the subject. I will be keeping Midnight behind on Wednesdays to try to get on top of this issue before it gets any worse. I do hope you inform her and also try and work with her yourself. Cheerilee.
''Well, I'll have to tell her.'' said Twilight, out-loud.
''Tell who?'' asked a voice, and Twilight turned to see Nyx with Night.
''Night, I have something to tell you. Do you see your Maths grade?'' said Twilight, as she showed the filly the grade.
''...W-what about it?'' asked Night, confused.
''This isn't very good for a filly of your age group, so Cheerilee is gonna keep you behind after school to try and improve your grades and I'm gonna keep you in at weekends too.''
''B-but....what about the Crusaders.....''
''They'll have to put up with it. Night, you need to understand that an F isn't good enough.''
Night's eyes filled with tears and she bolted to her bedroom. In her eyes, Twilight didn't understand. And to her, her grades weren't the issue around here, it was finding her missing sister. She laid on her bed, tears streaming from her eyes as she began to recall the events of the day, she and Midday got separated.
A knock on the door drew Night from her thoughts. She glanced at the door as a voice came through. ''Can I come in?'' It was Twilight, Night looked down and considered letting her adoptive mom in.
''Um...OK....''
Twilight walked in, a sad expression clean on her features. The mare walked over to the bed and sat down next to the small filly before speaking. ''I'm sorry about that, Night. I'm just so focus on helping your grades, I didn't even consider your feelings. I had it easy with Nyx, she loves learning, in fact she particularly thrives on it. So, I wasn't expecting to have a filly who wasn't as keen on learning as me and Nyx.''
''...Um....it's not that.....I adore learning, mainly because my mother.....................never let me learn so learning nowadays is a amazing thing for me. But....me distraction is my missing sister. When you made my......room, I remembered her and Now, I want to reunite with her. But because of my........ thoughts being on her, my grades suffered.''
''I see, well. I wish I could help you with that but at this point in time, I do not know where your sister is. I barely know what she looks like, but now that I think about it. I sometimes see my friend, Zecora's daughter with a filly about your size who has brown and red coloring and when, I get close enough. I see blue eyes. Maybe, but I can't be sure.''
''...Your description reminds me of Midday.....'' murmered the small filly. ''She....was about my size with a.........brown coat, red hair and blue eyes.''
''Well, I do hope you reunite with her because when you do, I'll adopt her so you can be together forever.'' said Twilight, as she nuzzled the filly. ''But right now, we need to focus more on your grades. How about an agreement, I'll try and find Midday Wish for you and you focus on your grades. Promise?''
Night considered this for a moment before speaking. ''Promise....Thank you, mommy...''

*Giggle* Midnight's science grades are the exact opposite of mine.
About a week passed by, Midnight and Nyx were out in the Ponyville Market to get some food for Twilight. Nyx was holding a list whilst Night was carrying a basket with her mouth. The fillies were walking calmly through the market, Night was in front bouncing gently as she carried her basket whilst Nyx was walking slowly as she scanned the list before her. ''Okay, Night. First, apples.''
''Apples!'' repeated Night, gleefully. She had cheered up when Twilight had agreed to help her reunite with her sister and was now a lot more energetic. She bounced to the apple stand where Applejack was on work. She stopped dead in front of Applejack, almost falling over causing Nyx to giggle a little.
The mare smiled as she said ''Hey there, little fillies. Ah take it, Yer mom askin' ya to get some apples?''
''Yea, Applejack.'' said Nyx, showing her mother's friend the list.
''Ah see. Well, yer gotta lot on yer hooves there, Nyx.'' said Applejack, as she got some apples for the fillies. ''Here ya go.''
As the apples landed in the basket that Night was holding, Nyx smiled and gave some bits. ''Here, see you later, Applejack. Me and Night have to get the rest of our stuff then we must go home, Night has her tutoring session.''
''Oh, I see. Well, I won't hold you much longer. Plus, this little filly wants me.'' said Applejack, before she turned to a unicorn filly at the front of the line.
Nyx nodded and move out of the way, joining Night who was standing as still as a pine tree. Nyx looked worried when you noticed the shocked expression on her little sister's face. The black alicorn walked closer and waved a hoof in front of the filly as she spoke. ''Night, what's wrong. Your scaring me a little, you know.''
The pegasus blinked and looked at Nyx without a word. She looked away with tears filling her eyes. Nyx looked worried, but wasn't able to get a word in due to a few words leaving the younger filly's lips. ''.....Sorry....i-it's.....just..........'' The filly paused, catching her breath before trying again. ''....Look....''
Nyx looked the way the smaller filly pointed and was confused. All she saw was a brown and red unicorn filly next to a filly who clearly was Zecora's little filly, who Nyx believed was named Lavender. She was confused, what was she meant to be looking at, so she asked. ''Um, what am I meant to be looking at, Midnight?''
''....M-M-Midday.....'' murmured Night, as she stared solidly at the unicorn filly buying apples.
''Oh, your sister who mom told me about?'' asked Nyx, looking at the brown and red filly. ''I guessing the brown and red one is Midday because I recognize the younger one as Zecora's daughter, and you told mom what your sister looks like.''
''Zecora?''
''Oh, you wouldn't know. Zecora is a zebra, who lives in the Everfree Forest and only comes to Ponyville to shop. That unicorn striped filly is Zecora's daughter, who I believe is called Lavender though I haven't seen her in about a year, she barely ever adventures out of the home. But one second, if she's with Zecora's daughter, wouldn't she be living with Zecora?''
''.....Your right...'' mumbled Night, thinking about it. But as she continued to stare at Midday, tears flowed and she spoke once more. ''But....I wanna met her now....'' With that said, Night tried to run over to her twin but a crowd separated the pair of them. Seconds later when the crowd had vanished, Midday was no longer there. Tears formed in the small filly's eyes.
''Don't worry about it, little sis. We'll tell mom when we get back and she can go and find Midday for you.'' said Nyx, putting a hoof on Night's shoulder. ''Now come on, mom will be worried if we don't get this done and get home soon.''
Night didn't answer, instead she just nodded. She really did want to reunite with Midday. Their separation had come very suddenly for her during the cold, stormy night. Her memories flew back to that night as she followed Nyx through the market, head bent down. Her memories caused tears to from in the foal's eyes.
About a month prior, Midnight's pov. Shortly after the separation.
I wandered the wet streets of Ponyville, Midday had just vanished from my sight. Tears threatened to pain my eyes yet I could not let them fall, it wasn't fair. I stumbled and winced, the pain in my side ever-present. My thoughts were running wild too 'I'm so stupid, I let a gust of wind separate me and my only friend.... '.
Rain hammered my side and wind blinded me. This totally wasn't fair. Mom should have liked me, then maybe non of this would have happened. My tummy rumbled, I was hungry but then again, what can you expect when you be traveling for many days and nights like I have. I formerly lived in Cantorlot, you see but after my parents left me and Midday, we began traveling but now I been separated from her too, it just isn't fair.
Despite the weather blinding my vision, I saw a house, no wait, a castle in the distance and there was light emitting from it. Maybe, whoever lived there would let me stay for the night. I stumbled, my bristle hair blow in front of me blinding even more of my vision yet I continued forth. I just had to find shelter and food for at least a night.
I came to the castle, it was crystallized and massive. I had never seen something so big, not even the manor that I lived in prior to this was as big as this castle. I stood in front of the door and began banging at the door with what little strength I could find. I wished for somepony to, I desperately needed somewhere to stay.
I was prepared to give up, mud falling off my mane when suddenly the door opened. My prayers had been answered it seemed and I turned to see a lavender unicorn with wings, I did know what an alicorn was but at that moment in time I didn't really care so I referred to her as such until I realized. As for the mare's expression, it was shell-shocked as if she had never seen a malnourished, muddy filly before. As for that, you know the rest.
Present time, nopony's pov
Night continued to look down, trying to hold back her flowing tears as she thought hard about that night. To her, it was her fault that Midday and herself had been separated. Because she was so weird and stupid, Midday had been separated from her. Her thoughts went wild, like that had that night. 'Maybe it would have been better had I not been born. Midday could have had a normal life. She could have become a ballerina like her dream and cutie mark suggested but now...she can't because of me!

Sorry about the wait by the way, guys. I had some writer's block, unfortunately. The next chapter should (Though might not be) either today and tomorrow.
This chapter is meant to form a little arc for the twins, after all it shows what happened to Midnight before meeting Twilight and Co.
Evening had passed over Ponyville. It had took the sisters only about a hour to retrieve everything on the shopping list. Nyx had done most of the work as Night had shifted into a gloomy silence. The older filly looked worriedly at her sister as they walked home, the filly had been silent since they had briefly seen Midday Wish but then again, it didn't surprise her. Night had only just seen her sister, who she hadn't seen in about a month, but didn't get to even speak to her. It must have been heartbreaking. 'I have to tell mom about this, she can talk to Zecora. I'm sure ' thought Nyx.
''Nyx, Night. You back?'' called a voice.
'Speak of the devil..... ' thought Nyx, knowing who it was. ''Yeah, mom. But we have something to tell you.''
Twilight came out of the kitchen, holding a couple of daffodil and daisy sandwiches in her lavender magical aura. She gave her adoptive daughters a sandwich each, keeping hold of one for herself. She then spoke, as the fillies bite into their sandwiches. ''What do you need to talk to me about?''
Nyx swallowed before answering. ''Can we sit down at the table first before we talk, mom?''
Twilight nodded and lead the fillies into the kitchen. They sit down, Night was the first of her and Nyx to notice that Spike was cooking some of his cookies at the stove. She continued to stare into space until Twilight caught the white filly's attention by asking. ''So, what did you need to talk to me about, you two?
Nyx was the one to answer the question. ''Well, at the market. We had just brought apples from Applejack and walked away when Night froze in place. I had asked her what was wrong and she replied with 'Look over there'. Being confused at what to look at, I asked her what and she replied with a simply 'Midday Wish'.''
Night nodded and continued for her adoptive sister. ''I saw.........her, with a filly.......that according to Nyx is called Lavender, buying apples. I told Nyx that I wanted to see..............and speak to Midday once more, but by the time.............I had made my mind to move forward, she was gone. Shocked by this, I ended up spending.................the rest of the afternoon thinking about her.''
''I see. Nyx, by this 'Lavender' do you mean as in Zecora's young daughter?'' asked Twilight, processing what she had just heard.
''I do, mom. The filly was a zebra unicorn hybrid filly just like Lavender.''
''I see. Well, tomorrow then I'll go meet Zecora and tell her about Night and everything and see whether I can get Midday to come with me. But, it's getting late and you have a early start tomorrow, remember it's school.''
As soon as the two fillies nodded and went to bed, Twilight went into thought of how she could talk to Zecora about Night's sister. She could just go over for some tea and then bring it up but that didn't seem good. The lavender mare sighed, before beginning to write a letter, Spike had just came over to the table so it looked over it as his surrogate sister. ''Twilight, what are you writing to Zecora for. I mean, I heard what Nyx and Midnight said but why write?''
''Spike, I'm writing to let her know that I'm coming over tomorrow while the girls are at school because I need to talk to her about something.'' explained Twilight, to the baby dragon.
''Oh, I see. You want me to send it?''
''When it's done.'' said Twilight, still levitating to quill. She then smiled. ''Okay, look it over and send it.'' Spike nodded, took the letter and began scanning over it with a smile.
Dear Zecora.
I am writing to you to say that I'll be coming over to your cottage today. Nyx and my newly adopted daughter will be at school so don't worry about that. I'll be there about 10 and I have something to talk to you about so can you make sure that Lavender is nearby because she needs to hear this.
Twilight.
''I'll send it then.'' said Spike, holding the letter next to his mouth. Twilight nodded as she bit into one of the cookies that were resting on the table. Spike smiled and blow out his flaming fire breath and evaporated the letter. Normally, he was would letters to Celestia but he did have the ability to send to other ponies or zebras too. The baby dragon yawned and said ''Well, I'm going to bed, Twi. See you tomorrow. Wait, before I go up, can I come with you tomorrow?''
''Sure, Spike. Now, night.''
''Night, Twi.''
The next day, Nyx and Midnight had left for school. Twilight was getting everything with her ready for venturing into the Everfree. She had spent most of the night awake trying to figure out how to explain the situation to Zecora but was pretty ready now. Spike was waiting to his sister at the door. To him, this was as boring as a peach.
''Are you done yet, Twilight?'' He called out, as the lavender alicorn passed by him.
''One more moment, Spike.'' Was the reply. ''I'm almost done.''
Sure as her word, Twilight came running only moments later. Spike sighed in relief, and the two left the castle. The trek out of town didn't take longer then 5 minutes so soon they were walking towards the Everfree Forest. Twilight flinched when she saw the forest, she remembered that she had been in there twice to save her daughters, it wasn't a place that she at all liked.
''Twilight? Come on, we don't want to be there too late. Remember, our goal is to reunite Midday and Midnight.'' said Spike, for the entrance of the forest.
Twilight nodded, still lost in thought but spoke softly. ''Your right, I shouldn't be worrying. This is for Night after all.''
The pair smiled at one another before walking into the spooky forest. Whilst it wasn't a bad during the day, the forest still had it's spooky tint and Twilight didn't like it but she continued forth, she had to do this for Night and for her sister after all. The pair contiued along the earthen path till they reached the creepy-ish cottage of Zecora's.
Twilight moved forward and heard chatter from the inside, three different voices. One she recognized as Zecora's, the rhyming gave it away. A very childlike one with a couple of rhymes was obviously Lavender but the last one she knew without being familiar to it. The sweet, harp like notes that formed the melodic tone reminded her of Night's voice so it had to be Midday's.
She went over to the door and knocked on it. She waited for a moment, before a rhyming voice welcomed her in. ''Twilight, I see. Please do come in and wait for me.''
Twilight smiled. She looked behind her and saw Spike at the edge of the cottage's tree-like features. She nodded, giggling and he came over to her. Seconds later, Twilight pushed open the door and walked inside. The appearance of the cottage didn't need to be taken in by the mare but the appearance of a certain unicorn was: The filly looked about 5, though Twilight knew better, with a brown coat and red mane. Both had been described to her by Night and those burning, shining eyes of golden drew Twilight in. She was broken from the hypnosis by a voice so cute that nopony could ignore. ''Awntie Twiwight? Yow awe Auntie Twiwight Spawkle, wight?''
''Yeah....'' murmured Twilight, looking down at the colorful zebra hybrid. ''Hello, Lavender.''
''Hi!'' cried the four year old, before she spotted Spike. ''Oh, Drawon!''
''Hello, Twilight. Why do you brace us with sudden light?'' said Zecora, walking over with Midday by her side.
''Uh.'' mumbled Twilight, trying to decipher what Zecora had said. ''Well, I have something to talk to you about. And it involves this unicorn filly by your side, Zecora.''
''This involves Midday. Well, I see, come and say.'' said Zecora, leading the alicorn mare to a small table on the floor. ''I can't tell if this is going to be bad, but I do hope Midday doesn't become mad.''
''Well, it's not the 'bad' that she would expect. Well, do you know that Midday, here, had a twin sister by the name of Midnight Wish?'' asked Twilight. Midday stared at her at the sound of her sister's name.
''Well, I do remember her saying. But It wasn't day.''
''I see, so you didn't process it well.'' said Twilight, before she began explaining what had happened ''Well, about a month ago, a small filly came to my home at the castle. She was cold and muddy, covered in bruises, scars and cuts and this gaping hole on the side of her back. It looked like she had been through a epic pony war but I couldn't tell due to the time of night. I didn't get many answer out of her but I did catch her name, Midnight Wish. I told her that she could stay for as long as necessary. But, about two weeks ago, two fillies from her school decided to send her into the forest. One of them, Silver Spoon, said sorry and told me where she was and just in time at that. After protecting her from some timberwolves, Midnight said to me 'Mommy'. As for the last two weeks, well. I been living as mother and daughter with the small filly, trying to keep up with her and Nyx as well as my marefriend, Rainbow.''
Midday, who had been listening intently, decided to speak up. ''My sister called you 'mommy' and you have adopted her?'' When Twilight smiled and nodded, the filly asked. ''Can I see her, I want to speak with her. She must think this is all her fault, she wanted to kill herself before we got separated so I feared the worst after I met Lavender and Miss Zecora but now that I know this, please let me see my younger sister, she's all I have left.''
Twilight was a little shocked to hear that the sweet filly she had recently adopted wanted to once kill herself but in reality, she couldn't blame her either. ''Well, that's actually why I came. I wanted you two to reunite, and if you want to, live together as a family once more.''
Midday smiled and was about to nod when a zebra hybrid latched herself onto her. Lavender looked at her with tear filled eyes before a voice came from the small filly's mouth. ''Midi, yow cawwot go. Yow caw't leawe me awone.''
''Lavender. You were the one who said you couldn't wait for me and Midnight to reunite. I wanted to be with my sister again, don't worry I'll be sure to come visit you from time to time, you could even meet Midnight, and if Miss Zecora lets you, maybe you could come visit us from time to time too.''
Lavender didn't reply but she did remove her hooves from around Midi's waist. Midi smiled and whispered ''Thank you.'' The unicorn filly got up and turned to Twilight. ''You'll take me to Midnight, won't you?''
''Of course, but first. You have a nickname? I heard Lavender call you 'Midi' when she was crying and holding onto you.''
''Yeah, Lavender gave it me after I began staying with them. It comes from my name, Mi from Mid and Di from Day, Midi.''
''I see. Well, Midnight also now has a nickname so that makes the pair of you. Her's is Night. Well, with that said. Let's go, Midi. Come along, Spike.'' said Twilight, with a broad smile. The baby dragon smiled back and managed to keep out of Lavender's reach before they left the building. Twilight smiled and said. ''Bye, Zecora. Bye, Lavender. Thanks for keeping Midi safe for me and Night.''
Later that day, Midi and Twilight were waiting in the kitchen for Night's and Nyx's return. The clock had struck 3 O-clock so they should be home soon. A few minutes later, the door opened and two voices said 'We're home' in unison. Literally speak of the devils and they do appear, it was pretty stupid.
''Welcome back, Nyx, Night. Come into the kitchen, I have a surprise waiting for you.'' called Twilight.
''A surprise?'' asked Nyx. The two fillies came into the kitchen. Twilight waited and sure enough, their faces changed. Nyx's changed from confused to shocked in a matter of seconds and Night's changed from confused to crying tears of happiness in less then that of her adoptive sister's reaction time.
''Midday....'' mumbled Night. As she mumbled, her sister got up, arms stretched out, which promoted the small filly to cry out and run towards her sister. ''Midday!''
''Midnight, I'm here. Sorry for making you wait.'' whispered Midi into her younger twin's ear, tears forming in her own eyes. Twilight, Spike and Nyx smiled at the heartwarming scene. The two sister that had been seperated so long had finally found each other and nothing, literally nothing, was going to force them apart any time soon.

Hello, everyone. Well, this arc has come to a end so I'll be ending this story and starting on the sequel:Midnight's Wish: Adventures of the twin, which shouldn't be as sad or heart breaking as this one but it will have it's moments because I write the best with the dark subjects.
Mentioning sequels, this is will be part of the trilogy. This story and Adventures of the Twins will be back-to-back sequels but the last one will be more of a stand alone but will be linked to the prior two. As for it's name, Midnight's Wish: Baby tales (Don't question the title, you'll find out)
Ps:I still hate rhyming! And as for Lavender suddenly using baby talk, don't ask. I felt like it.
Midnight Surprise [Rewritten]
Author's Note
Thinking for a very long time, since I planned to rewrite my older stories. I considered rewriting my best story and one of the few that I completed to date. Being my personal fave story, Midnight's Wish would require a lot more in it to be considered even better. I want this story to be better then before, that's the reason I'm rewriting it. So, every now and again, expect each chapter to be written differently until we get to the end and have a coherent story again, with new features. Probably not new fan-made characters, but definitely include more details and emotions. This story will also be updated up to the end of season 6, so events in season 7 aren't canon. So Starlight will be a main character in the story now. Well, hope you enjoy.
Midnight Surprise [Rewritten]
Ever since Twilight became a princess, she had new responsibilities that required her direct attention. One of these was, of course, studying up Equestrian laws that ponies needed to follow. She managed to find roughly 5 books on different aspects in the Canterlot Library recently and asked Celestia personally to send them over so she could study. Of course, her former mentor was more then happy to agree and here she was, reading book after book.
It was very late, Spike, Starlight and Nyx had already said their good nights and went to bed ages ago. Owlowiscious, being a owl was obviously nocturnal, was keeping her some company as he sat on his perch. Her horn was gently glowing in a soft magenta aura so she could see the book before her. She also was using her magic to gently shift the pages over when she was finished on one page.
Rat-tat! Rat-tat!
Twilight jolted at the sound of the golden front door banging on the hinges. Who could be knocking at this hour. She looked up at the clock that read shortly after midnight. Most ponies she knew wouldn't be up at this time, especially in Ponyville which wasn't known really for night clubs, if you discounted Vinyl Scratch's but even her's was only open until 11 o'clock. She frowned, but pulled herself to her feet. She walked out into the main hallway from her former spot in the throne room. The knocking was progressively getting weaker, even though it hadn't been very strong in the first place.
''Who could that be?...,'' she questioned as she made it to the door. Her voice low, due to her slight tiredness. Lighting her horn with her magical aura, she gently pulled at the door with her magic. A gust of wind and rain blew straight into her fast, causing her to close her eyes to protect them from the elements. When she reopened them, she saw a dark, muddy figure in the doorway. The outline of the figure told the alicorn that it was a filly, probably no older then 9/10 years old roughly. The figure also had a rather skinny, malnourished shape but it was hard to tell with the lather of mud that caked the child.
Why would a filly be out at this hour? And why did she seem to be quite malnourished? These were the main questions that arose in the mare's mind, as she sadly stared at the little one, who was shaking from the cold and potential fear. She wasn't sure what to do or say, so she simply calmly spoke. ''Um, how about you come inside. It's quite wet and cold out there, not really good for a little one like you,'' she thought of what to say next and as the filly hesitatingly stepped into the castle, she said. ''You can stay here for the night, I'll get you a bath and something warm to eat.''
The filly simply nodded, mud masking her expression. But from the child's golden eyes, Twilight could see the plain fear and pain that the filly processed. What had happened to this young one? She motioned for the filly to follow her, which the child cautiously did. They slowly walked to the castle's quite massive bathroom. It's was quite a royal-looking bathroom, but what could you really expect for a princess' bathroom in general? Twilight sighed, before gently beginning to run the bath until there was a shallow level of water at the base.
''Okay, would you mind getting into the bath for me. I'll be over in a second, I just need to get my bandages and such. I know there's a bit of blood mixed with that mud so I need to check you for injuries. Is that alright?'' Twilight spoke softly, as she watched the filly attempt to get into the bath by grasping it with her hooves and pulling herself in. The filly then looked over the side before nodding to the question.
Twilight sighed, opening the medicine cabinet carefully with her magic. She pulled out some ointment and bandages, she gently laid them out on the floor next to a pale blue towel. She then trotted over to the filly, who was patiently waiting. ''Okay, lets get you clean up. Shall we,'' she said with a calming smile. She gently pulled her shower head over with magic and started to rinse the filly's body of the mud and blood mixture that was clinging to her coat.
As the bloody and muddy mixture drained away from the bath with the rest of the water, Twilight was finally able to see the filly's battered and bruised coat. The filly had a soft white coat, that was covered in little scars and bruises. Her ears were tipped purple, but one of them was hanging limp on the side of her head. Her mane was a light magenta-blue color with two highlights of soft pink and magenta running through it, but it was scruffy and unkempt like it hadn't been brushed in weeks.
The filly was now determined as a pegasus, due to the rather small wings that pointed out of her sides with the same purple tipping as her ears. She also processed a cutie mark, which was of a blue wand with a bow attached and glittering stars surrounding it like Twilight's mini stars surrounding the big pink one. But it brought up one question, was this young pegasus' talent to do with magic?
Twilight managed to pull a false smile, as she didn't want to confuse or upset the young one by showing how shocked she was due to her appearance. ''Lets get you out, little one,'' she said, levitating the filly out of the bath tub. She then gently scrubbed the filly dry. ''Okay, lets check your wounds then.''
She gently scanned the filly's body for potential wounds, which she eventually found a rather large hole under the filly's left wing. It didn't look like it was bleeding majorly, like it partially sealed up. But you could tell by the dried blood that still surrounded the hole, despite washing, that it had been bleeding recently. The filly looked away when she realised that Twilight had seen it, a couple of tears seemingly formulating into her eyes. Twilight sighed a little, knowing that she wouldn't get a answer as to where the wound came from. She decided to just gently apply ointment to the wound to help it seal up completely and then gently wrapped a bandage around the filly's body, but left enough room for her wings to rest above the bandaging. ''Is that too tight, or good enough?''
''It's fine.......,'' whispered the filly for the first time that night. Her voice was quite hoarse, like it hadn't been used for a while or she had been deprived from water. Her tummy then grumbled, causing her to blush and look away from the mare next to her in complete embarrassment even though hunger wasn't her fault.
''Lets get you something to eat, shall we?'' said Twilight with a giggle and a smile. She lead the filly out of the bathroom and down to the hallway to the dining hall. ''Sit down in here, I'll go get you some pancakes to eat.''
The filly nodded and sat down at the gold and pink circular table. She stared at the unicorn statue for a while, curiosity perked in her eyes. She then looked at the seats, there was a total of 8 seats. She had heard something about the mare she was with now being the princess of friendship and that she had 7 pony friends and a dragon assistant. But presently, she wasn't sure what to think about that. Dragons and ponies didn't often get along, right? Dragons were mean and scary.
''That's a good filly,'' said Twilight, causing the young filly to turn around and see the mare levitating two plates with 3 pancakes on each. ''I brought enough for the pair of us. I want to ask you some questions whilst we're eating, because I need to be able to know a couple of things before I can arrange anything. I won't go too personal into your past if you don't want me to, however.''
The filly nodded and began eating instantly the moment the pancakes were placed down. She was scared that it was a dream that she was going to wake up from, to find that she was still malnourished. Twilight chuckled, but internally frowned, at this, knowing how starved the filly must have been to be in this state. She sat down herself, and slowly took a bite out of her first pancake. ''Sweetie, I need to know your name for starters.''
The pegasus visibly flinched at the question, but she knew that she needed to give it. She whispered, so quietly that Twilight only just heard it by being in the next seat. ''Midnight Wish....''
Twilight's eyes widened a little at the word 'Wish'. She had heard of the Wish family during her students, they were a family of great unicorns who passed their knowledge via the generations. But they weren't keen on pegasi or earth ponies due to the fact they couldn't use magic. But looking at this filly, a pegasus, and the fact of how she was part of the family, it didn't add up. Unless the filly had a parent with pegasus genes from further up the line, there was no way she could legitimately be a pegasus as the family never bred outside of their race. But, when Twilight remembered the filly's cutie mark, it brought up a reminder about how the filly seemed to have a magic connection despite being a pegasus.
''I see, sweetie. Is your family a topic that your not comfortable with talking about?'' When the filly slowly nodded, she frowned. ''I see, I won't ask about it then. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable, but when your more okay, my ears are ready to hear,'' she decided to eat her first pancake whilst deciding on what she should do. Once she was finished, she wiped her face and said gently. ''Midnight, I decided that you can stay while I come up with a plan for you. I will need to sign you up to the Ponyville school. But beyond that, you needn't worry about living on the streets.''
Midnight slowly nodded, her eyes filled with nervousness the moment the word 'school' was mentioned. That meant interacting with other fillies and since she lost the only filly she ever knew, she wasn't sure about interacting with them. She spoke softly after a few seconds. ''I understand, miss alicorn....''
''Just call me Twilight, sweetie. There's no need for you to call me that.'' Twilight smiled softly, knowing that the filly would probably still use 'miss' to make herself comfortable. But as long as she knew her name, that was what mattered.
''Oh, sorry. Miss Twilight,'' Midnight murmured, nodding a little.
Twilight then forced a smile as she spoke. ''Lets go to bed now, I'm sure you ready for somewhere comfortable to sleep. I have a spare bedroom or you could sleep with me like my adoptive daughter once did, whichever you prefer.''
''I....d-don't.....w-want to be....l-left....a-alone....,'' the pure sadness if the filly's statement wasn't able to be put into words, it was like she had lost everypony and didn't want to be isolated anymore. ''S-so......I s-spend the n-night with you....''
Twilight nodded, frowning a little. She finished her pancakes and noticed that the filly had finished as well. ''I'll clean up in the morning, let me show you to my bedroom.''
The two left the dining hall and walked up the staircase, quietly so they didn't wake the sleeping ponies and Spike. They made it to the Twilight's bedroom, which was dark purple in coloration. It was filled with books on each wall and pointing out of one of the windows was a telescope. The bed was off to one side, animal teddies surrounding it. ''Lay down, sweetie,'' Twilight said. She then picked up a rather odd, but still functional, blue cloth that she once used when she slept with Nyx. She gently laid the tiny blanket over the filly as she got in under the purple blanket next to her. ''There, you have your own little blanket so you comfortable with laying with me.''
Midnight slowly nodded, relaxing on the bed. She looked about ready to close her eyes, but then she looked up. ''C-can....you read me a bedtime story, please?......''
Twilight giggled, levitating one of a more filly-ish books from her collection. It was one of the books she read a lot of a filly. She began to read softly. ''There was once a unicorn mare named Dusty the Great......,'' She continued to read the story of the unicorn warriors versus Grogar, until she saw that the filly next to her had fallen asleep. She smiled, reaching down and gently kissing the filly's forehead. ''Good night, sweetie.'' She levitated the book back to it's place, before turning over into a more comfortable position and went into a deep sleep.
