Chapter 1 - Introductions
Spectrum Destiny was born on the 7th of August, she was a beautiful dark purple coated foal with a midnight blue wavy mane and tail with mini stars dotted through out it. Her eyes were rainbow coloured hence the name Spectrum. She was born with a slight default, half of her horn was light blue and permanently cold. The doctor's said that defect her whole life so she should try to live with it as best as she could.
Her parents were the rulers of Cloudsdale before Princess Celestia became the current ruler. Spectrum's Mother, Queen Nimbus was a kind and caring to all of her subjects. She was as tall as Celestia with a white cloudy mane and tail that turned electrical and dark when angry. Her coat was sky blue with white dots that looked like clouds around her hooves, the hue of her eyes were an extremely light rainbow and cutie mark was a half white and half grey cloud with wings made out of lightning bolts. Queen Nimbus's cutie mark represented the power to create any type of cloud and the ability to absorb lightning bolts then use them as a speed boost.
Her father, King Midnight Zodiac was very firm but caring. He was taller than his wife with windswept midnight hair and flowing golden tips. His coat was a very deep red, the hue of his eyes were a very dark rainbow opposite to Nimbus and cutie mark was was Leo's symbol in the middle of the other 12 zodiac signs, each sign a different colour. King Midnight's cutie mark symbolised the ability to harness the power of each zodiac sign but it was very tiring to summon different signs one after another.
Spectrum was an only child which got a bit boring sometimes when her parents were busy but she understood that they had a kingdom to run. She trotted down the hall and into the throne room where her Mother was. carefully opening the door not to disturb her Spectrum squeezed thought the door and quietly stood at the back of the room in a corner where hopefully her mother wouldn't see her.
Right now Queen Nimbus was in a meeting discussing the recent action of the dark group 'Shadowbolts'. Nimbus slammed her hoof down, "the Shadowbolt's were created years ago by Princess Luna as her personal body guards. When Princess Luna was sealed away in the moon the Shadowbolt's disappeared all together! Nothing has been heard about them since! Why would they be after my daughter?!" her calm demeanour completely gone.
A General stood up and coughed to get her attention, "Queen if i may?" She nodded. "Your daughter Princess Spectrum, is a very rare pony. We believe that she may possess the ability to see a ponies destiny, including their cutie mark and death. This is why we believe the Shadowbolts have appeared and are after your daughter! They want to harness her magical ability to determine when Princess Luna's banishment will end and eternal night will come!" The General sat back down and looked at his documents.
The Queen sighed, "We have no reports of sightings in Cloudsdale so for the time being we will double the security in Cloudsdale and Spectrum will have a personal body guard with her 24/7! I do not want to take any chances with the Shadowbolts and I defiantly do not want to loose my only foal! Dismissed!" She sat down sighing again in frustration, her mane turning dark and electrical.
The Generals and Captains stood up, bowed and left the room not wanting to anger the Queen more then they already had.
Queen Nimbus called out, "How much did you hear?" looking over in Spectrum's direction.
Spectrum sheepishly walked out of the corner and over to her frustrated mother. "Enough to know that Cloudsdale and Equestria is in danger because of me..." She sat down next her mother whimpering.
Queen Nimbus softly smiled to her daughter and slowly reached her wing over to Spectrum and wrapped it around the filly's small frame. Then pulled her up into a soft hug. "You are not putting Cloudsdale and Equestria in danger, it is not your fault that you have the ability to see a ponies destinies. If anything its your father's fault being able to use the zodiac and all." Spectrum looked up at her mother in shock. "Kidding. You are not at fault for anything. As long as you know that you will not live with the guilt of anything. Guilt breaks a pony but acceptance helps rebuild them." She released the filly and stood up.
Queen Nimbus started walking towards the door and motioned for Spectrum to follow. They walked through the hallways in silence until Spectrum spoke up, "Mother? When will I get my bodyguard?"
"I imagine that they are preparing and assigning one to you now. Come quickly with me, I have something important to show you." The Queen broke into trot down the hall, Spectrum spread her already powerful wings out and flew along side her.
They made their way down various hallways turning left at the first hall then turning right 2 halls down. They eventually got to a hall with no doors, only stained windows showing the history of Cloudsdale.
Queen Nimbus stopped in the centre and turned to Spectrum, "Listen up, if the Shadowbolts attack i want you to go down to this hall as fast as you can then go to the window with the storms on it." she walked over to the wall and pushed open a secret door. "This door will lead into a secret passage that leads to the main plaza. No matter what happens I want you to use this passage then fly strait to Canterlot Castle to Celestia." She closed the door and turned back to her daughter.
Spectrum asked, "What if they find this tunnel? What if I get hungry or lost? What if my wings give out? What if-"
"Spectrum listen to me, only a few ponies know of this passage, that includes us, your father, bodyguard and the highest ranking General. You will not get hungry or lost because there will permanently be a few sets of saddles for you to take. Your wings will not give out, you are the daughter of the fastest and strongest flyer in Equestria who can harness lightning bolts to give extra speed. your wings will not fail you.We love you so much Spectrum, never forget that." She hugged her shaking daughter.
"T-Thanks mother..." Spectrum whispered.
Queen Nimbus stood up tall and smiled, "C'mon, lets go see if they have your bodyguard ready!" Spectrum smiled and lifted up into the air followed by her mother. They raced down the hallways Queen Nimbus in the lead even though she was going slower than normal.
They reached the armoury stopping a few feet away before walked in, Spectrum saw the Generals and slowed down. Even though she knew a few of them it still made her nervous when all of the Generals and Captains were present. Her mother walked into her and mouthed 'Sorry!'. Spectrum nodded and smiled.
Queen Nimbus walked past her daughter and over to the Generals. She cleared her throat, "Alright, are you ready?” One of the general’s from before nodded and walked over to Spectrum.
The General gave the signal and looked down to her, "Hello Princess, this is your new body guard, Arctic Decent.” The guard stepped forwards.
The guard was a tall pegasus guard with a dark blue coat, his hair drooped over his face with light blue tips darkening to a dark blue. His cutie mark was hidden by the armour but his eyes were a bright green.
Arctic Decent walked over to Spectrum and bowed, "Its a pleasure to meet you Princess!" he stood up straight.
The General spoke one last time, "If you have a look on the chest plate you will realise that there is no emblem. All you need to do is tap the tip of your horn against the centre of his chest and an emblem will appear."
Spectrum looked up to him and he nodded. She sighed and thought, "Well here goes...". She walked up and placed the tip of her horn on his chest plate, a bright light glowed and suddenly a six pointed star with wings appeared on the chest plate.
She asked, “What kind of mark is that?”
Queen Nimbus laughed softly and replied, “I think you’ll find out in the next few years. I’m not going to tell you but you figure it out."
Arctic Decent looked down and smiled at his emblem. Queen Nimbus also smiled and looked at a clock, "Spectrum, bedtime."
Spectrum nodded and hugged her mother, "Good night mother!”
Next she bowed at the Generals and the Captains before running out of the room followed quickly by her new body guard.
Arctic called out, “Slow down your highness!”
The filly stopped and turned around. Arctic had to suddenly stop to avoid slamming into her.
Spectrum said, “You don’t need to use any formal titles. Just Spectrum is more then fine.”
Arctic sighed and nodded, “As you wish Spectrum. Let’s continue to your chambers.”
She nodded and started walking. Along the way Spectrum asked, “So, do you have hobbies? A family? Favourite food? What’s your cutie mark?”
Arctic laughed nervously whilst rubbing the back of his head, “Slow down, you talk at a mile an hour! And yes I do have hobbies which include reading and training. I don’t have a family anymore. My favourite food is a hay burger covered in cheese and my cutie mark is a snow storm with an axe in the middle. Happy?”
She nodded as they reached her chambers. She pushed open the doors and ran in.
Arctic softly closed the door and walked in after her. He noticed that there was an extra room set up for him with his cutie mark on the door. Whilst Spectrum's room was set up with a circular bed in the centre on a raised platform with a dresser at the opposite side, a beanbag in the corner surrounded by bookshelves and another door leading off to what he presumed was a bathroom.
Before Spectrum jumped into her bed she quickly hugged her body guard, "Good night Arctic!" she grinned at him before cannon balling into her bed and falling asleep almost instantly when her head hit the pillow.
Arctic chuckled and pulled a blanked over her before walking over to his room which had a bed to the side, a dresser next to the door, a bathroom behind a door to the side of the room, a bookshelf on the wall with a desk under it and to the other side of the door an armour and weapon stand.
He smiled and quickly changed out of his armour, put it on the stand and flopped down onto the bed falling asleep moments later.
