"So, um... Doctor, why are we going to the library again?"
“Because, Derpy,” replies the annoyed Doctor, this was the fifth time she asked this question, “If I am going to fit in and look like I’ve lived in Erectia…”
“Equestria.”
“…Equestria my whole life, I need to do some research.” Finished a slightly bit tick off Doctor, through gritted teeth.
“Oh! That makes sense… Research of what?"
“BLOODY CRAP, DERPY!” Exclaimed a furious Doctor
“What?” Derpy asked in shock at the Doctors sudden anger.
The Doctor calmed himself and said, "It's just that... well, I'm from an alternate dimension and I know absolutely nothing about this dimension. So I must do research on the history of your species."
"Why research it?" Inquired Derpy.
"Because I can find out... say, what your species does for fun, or what currency you have."
"Currency? Oh! You mean bits?"
"Er... Yes?"
"Oh! Ok. Now it makes sense!"
"WAIT A SECOND!!!!" Cried the Doctor.
"What?!" Exclaimed a now shocked again Derpy. "What is it?!"
The Doctor looked around and noticed Rarity's boutique near by. He ran inside and looked at himself in the mirror.
"NNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!" Cried the Doctor in sorrow.
"What is it?!" Exclaimed a still shocked Derpy. "What's wrong, Doctor?!"
"I'm not a ginger!" Replied a Doctor that was now on the verge of tears.
"What?!"
"Oh... Never mind. Let's just go."
"Um... Ok!"
When they got to the library, the Doctor found a purple unicorn and asked her where the history section was located. Derpy, on the other hand, went straight to the cooking section and found a recipe book on muffins.
Most of the time the story about how the Doctor got to Equestria and met Derpy is told correctly. The Doctor was traveling in the T.A.R.D.I.S., the T.A.R.D.I.S. messed up, the Doctor traveled through dimensions instead of through time, he landed outside of Ponyville, Derpy saw the T.A.R.D.I.S. land, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Hmm? What’s the T.A.R.D.I.S. you ask? The T.A.R.D.I.S. is the Doctors time machine. T.A.R.D.I.S. stands for:

The Doctor is the last of his own alien species; the Time lords. Every Time lord has, or… well, had a T.A.R.D.I.S., the T.A.R.D.I.S. can not only travel through time, but it can also teleport. And I don’t mean it can just teleport from place to place on Earth, it can teleport from planet to planet. Another device that the Doctor uses, and probably my most favorite, is the Sonic Screwdriver. The Sonic Screwdriver is a special device that can do anything, well… almost anything. It can unlock doors, identify people, even identify alien species, but it cannot work on anything made of wood. Basically seems like he’s all set for adventure and extreme danger, right? Wrong. The Doctor has one more thing that he constantly needs, it is even more important and amazing than the T.A.R.D.I.S. and the Sonic Screwdriver combined! This one vitally essential tool of the doctors is his assistant(s). In this case, that would be Derpy Hooves.
Derpy Hooves, a.k.a. Ditzy Doo, is the official mail pony of Ponyville. She lives in an open Changling chrysalis. She is pretty obsessed with muffins, and almost participated in the Equestrian Games. Not much is known about her until she meets the Doctor, but that is much of it.
