The Return of a Nightmare
A battle was being waged in the control Center of Scarlet's giant drill high above Lion's Arch
"Do it!" Brahams yelled.
"Hurry up and finisher!" Rox added.
Sun Shang Xiang raised her hand in the air as an orb of pure energy started to form.
"HEHEHEHEH!" Scarlet Brier cackled with glee. "YOUR TOO LATE HERO!" she said as she lay wounded but still strong enough to spew sarcasm and threats.
The great Drill activated throwing Sun off balance she wasn't able to finish the mad Silvari off. The Drill bore deep into the Bay of Lions Arch then in and explosion of light and energy the maniacal Silvarian and Sun were engulfed as her friends just looked on horrified. They were helpless, and could only watch their friend vanish in the blinding light as they held on for dear life.
Marjory though still wounded held up in Kasmeer's arms. "It should have been me." she said in no more that a whisper as she started crying.
"Don't you ever say that Marjory! I need you, and she knew what she was doing!" Kasmeer said as she kissed her beloved friend.
"We all did Kas, we all did." Brahams the giant Norn was held up by Rox the female Charr Ranger.
"Still why does this Victory seem so, hallow?" Rox said to her comrades. "And who is going to tell Trahern and Logan about the fate of our leader?"
The group just stared at each other none wanting to take responsibility themselves. Their silence was interrupted by a great roar that came from the depths of the earth.
"We'll talk about his later." Brahams said to the macabre looking party. "First we need to get out of here."
They got out of the Giant Drill just in time for the explosive show, each looking to the place that was the end of a Nightmare and a Friend.
Farewell Sun Shang Xiang let us meet again on the other side. They all thought as they watched the wreckage of the great drill fall into Loins Arch Bay.
Sun woke up rubbing her head as her blurred vision returned it was dark she couldn't see very well, as the Elementalist stood she picked up her staff The Monsoon. She activated the ball at the top lighting up the area as the darkness vanished. It looked like a castle but it was run down and there were holes in the ceiling, then something moving caught her eye. Scarlet Brier was barely conscious leaning up against a giant boulder that was in the middle of what looked to be a war torn room.
"YOU....YOUR STILL ALIVE!?" Sun screamed at the Silvari that had razed Loin's Arch to the ground, sent Aither Blades, Dredge, and many other evils all across Tyria. Then there was that giant tower she helped the Krait put up in Kessex Hills.
"Ohhh..caugh...caugh....what's the matter love don't you like me anymore? Because I certainly liked playing with you?" Scarlet said with a wicked sneer. "I still remember the first time we met at the Queen's Jubilee. I knew you and your friends were going to cause me trouble. You even killed my poor marionette."
"And now I'm going to finish you off!" Sun said as she raised her hand to gather energy again.
"Hold on love. We aren't in Tyria anymore." Scarlet said lifting her left arm up in a very poor defense.
Sun just balked as she stopping gathering energy, putting her arm down.
"What do you mean by that?" Sun though not wanting to admit it, she too felt that something was off. Even her magic felt more focused and powerful.
"Well love just take a look around. This castle doesn't have any of the architectural styles of any of the races and I've never seen. Nor have I seen a coat of arms quite like those and trust me love, I should know. Scarlet said as she pointed to several tattered tapestries laying on the castles rubble covered floor.
Sun walked over to one of the tapestries it was a dark blue and had a moon in the center that was surrounded by several stars. It was old...very old it was surprising to her that it didn't crumble to dust when she picked it up.
"A moon? But there aren't any noble houses that use the moon for their symbol at least that I know of...." Sun trailed off apparently the SIlvari was telling the truth. But, if they weren't in Tyria anymore then where were they.
"So love, believe me now? caugh...caugh..." Scarlet was in very rough shape Sun didn't even know how she was even still alive especially after everything she and her friends did to her.
Sun didn't know what to do. She could heal Scarlet and have her help get her back home, but no she was much too great of a threat and after everything she had done she deserved to die.
"I'm not going to kill you Scarlet Brier...." Sun started.
"Oh, Caugh....caugh....I knew you loved me." Scarlet interrupted.
"You didn't let me finish, I'm not going to kill you, but I'm not going to help you either. So just sit there and die already." Sun turned making her robes swish as she started walking past the wounded Silvari and headed for the broken gates and out into the unknown.
"WAIT! Love please don't leave me." Scarlet called after the Elementalist's back.
Sun's anger subsided as she heard something new coming form the sick SIlvari there was no maniacal laugh no abhorrent threat just a pleading. Sun just stopped as she slowly turned around, to her shock the woman was crying?
Scarlet held her hand out reaching after the only person whom she thought could free her from her own nightmare. Her eyes filled with tears as she watched the woman who was about to leave her turn back around. She plead, as she was trying to break her mind free from the unforeseen hold of a dark Elder Dragon.
Sun came back and stood over the now broken Scarlet Briar. She was still reaching out to her pleading in her eyes. Sun knelt down not even thinking about the consequences of doing so. Scarlet reached out grabbing a part of her loose clothing and brought Sun's lips to hers. Sun went from shock to surprise, as her eyes went as wide as they could go. After a few moments Scarlet let go. What happened then was even more shocking to Sun than being kissed by her most hated enemy.
Scarlet started to convulse her eyes rolled into the back of her head, finally ending in a coughing fit that made her wretch. Scarlet vomited up a black pussy mass, stringy black vines trailing behind the dark mound of mucus as it fell to the stone floor with a sickening splat. Scarlet stopped convulsing after coughing up the dark thing and her eyes went back to normal.
"What in the name of Grenth is that?" Sun said nearly inaudibly as she looked at the black stringy mucus ball in disgust and horror.
"I'm finally free of you! You accursed Dragon!" Scarlet declared as she once again slumped back against the large stone behind her as she used the back of her left hand to wipe away the horrible tasting black residue the dark mass left behind. Scarlet had one of the biggest grins of contentment that Sun had ever seen displayed, on the SIlvari's face.
Sun reeled back as the mass was starting to pulsate and move. Scarlet noticed the girl's reaction.
"That my love is Mordremoth's wonderful, present he gave me when I was scoping out the Eternal Alchemy. I have been trying to fight his influence for so long, but in the end I lost. That is why, love I....I became his puppet just like my own marionettes. I was his, and I did as asked I unleashed him from his slumber." Scarlet spoke softly but both eye's were narrowed and full of hate as she stared at the black blob that was starting to slither away.
"Can you do me a very big favor love?" Scarlet turned to the frozen Elementalist who was looking at the mass in horror.
Shaking her head she acknowledged Scarlet, knowing full well what must be done. Taking out Monsoon she cast a fire spell at the fleeing blob. The black mass started making a high pitched sequel as it was enveloped by her lava pool black wisps of steam rose up from the lava pool where the black mass vanished.
Scarlet watched in content at as the lava pool dissipated and cooled though she was dying it was still a very good day and at least she would die free. But that was not going to be the case.
Sun realized what had happened. Looking at Scarlet she was no longer angry at her, no. There was something else that was pulling her strings. All of her anger was now targeted at that damnable Dragon. Yes, Scarlet was the weapon but it was Modremoth who corrupted her and inevitably pulled the trigger. He was behind the attacks on Holbrak, Lion's Arch and the very cause of Scarlet's madness. Sun didn't blame Scarlet, how could she knowing the truth. Yes it was hard to accept, but if they could defeat Zihtan then Mordremoth will also be made to answer, for everything he had done. In Sun's eyes Scarlet was a victim just like everyone else, and Sun pitted her for that.
"Well love, I guess this is truly farewell." Scarlet looked up at her savior. The one that hunted her down relentlessly. It was Sun and her friends that she loved. Mordremoth controlled her body and mind, but he wasn't able to touch her heart. Even as she remembered the Pale Tree's warning it was a single Elementalist and her friends that freed her.
"I wish I could take it all back....I wish I was stronger....stronger like you....love." Scarlet was once again in tears, they flowed from her leafy face to fall on her broken and crippled body.
"You will live scarlet and we will have our revenge on Mordremoth together." Sun bent down and cast every healing spell she knew on the broken Silvari woman.
Wounds healed, the plant like flesh mended as Sun cast her healing magics. Scarlet felt invigorated but even magic had it's limits. Though her life was no longer in danger she still had contusions on her side and left leg, though they were better they just refused to fully heal.
Sun helped Scarlet to her feet. Clutching her left side that hurt like an imbedded thorn she hung her other arm over her Sun's shoulder. Sun assisted her to the exit of the dark ruined castle. The unlikely pair soon came across an old rickety bridge that crossed a jagged looking chasm.
"That doesn't look good love. I would hate to be turned into a tossed salad after you freed and healed me." Scarlet told the woman that was half carrying her as she limped along.
"Yes, but we can't stay here, we have to find a way back to Tyria and warn everyone about the new dragon." Sun said as she handed her staff to Scarlet to test out the bridge.
"We've come this far." Sun said as she put a foot tentatively onto the bridge hoping it would support her weight.
Closing her eyes she took a step. The bridge groaned a bit but it seemed to be sturdy enough. She then took another step still it made an uncomfortable groan but it still held. As she made her way across the old bridge she noticed that it seemed rather narrow and also the ropes were rather low, she was having to hunch over rather uncomfortably to keep a hand on the rope that served as a rail. Looking back she noticed that Scarlet was hobbling along the bridge after her. After they both made it across there was a dark forest in front of them. As low fog started to move in and there was very little moonlight this night. Sun took a hold of Scarlet and taking back her staff from her she pored some energy into her staff to help light the way and burn off the fog in a rather large radius around the pair.
Scarlet let out a whistle. "Impressive love, I could get used to having you around." Scarlet chided as she put a bit more weight onto her left leg. The pain wasn't to bad so she refused Sun's help when she tried to assist.
The pair started into the forest, Sun then made an observation.
"This reminds me of Caledon Forest I wonder if we can find the Pale Tree. Perhaps I can meet up with Trahearne." Sun said thinking aloud.
"I don't think so love. These tree's aren't anything like I've seen on Tyria. There much shorter and the leaves are shaped all wrong." Scarlet said as she was also observing the new surroundings.
Sun was about to reply when she heard some rather low growls off to her left.
"Silvari hounds just my luck, and here I am a lone Elemntalist with a wounded Silvari in tow, having to fight off the Nightmare Court. Please for the love of Balthazar please be Pale Tree Silvari." Sun prayed to her God for luck.
"I don't think hounds make that kind of noise love. They also seem to be afraid of your light your staff is giving off." Scarlet said reckoning that whatever these things were they were afraid of the light, staying just outside her companion's influence.
The Silvari hounds were growling all around them now but just as Scarlet said they stayed just outside of her sphere of light. Still she could see several pairs of glowing green orbs. Sun cast stone armor on herself just in case they decided to attack.
"Do you know everything, Scarlet?" Sun asked inquisitively.
"Ha, ha, ha, ha....No love I don't know everything just most things. I did manage to sneak a peek at the Eternal Alchemy, before Mordremoth gave me his little, gift, and sent me on my way." Scarlet sounded playful in the beginning but then she had finished with a great deal of disdain.
Sun was on edge for what seemed like hours but apparently the Silvari hounds decided they weren't worth the trouble. Breathing a sigh of relief she noticed that the forest was starting to thin out a bit and there was a noticeable clearing up ahead. Sun started thanking Balthazar for being clear of the forest.
"Praying to an incompetent God is laughable love. It was through our own efforts and your magics we made it through the forest without incident." Scarlet told Sun rather sarcastically.
"You don't believe in the God's?" Sun shot back in shock.
"Listen love I've dealt with the Eternal Alchemy, and the only thing I met was that infernal dragon that took everything from me. So, what did the God's do? Nothing love, just nothing. They left me to his torments till I just couldn't fight it anymore." Scarlet said as she limped along beside Sun.
Sun didn't know how to respond to Scarlet. They walked in silence for a while before Sun finally spoke up.
"Your right Scarlet, the God's don't act anymore. I think it's because the Dragon's have started awakening that they can't act and until they are defeated they won't be able to come back." Sun told Scarlet her theory. That was just one of many she knew but at this time it was the only one that made sense.
"Perhaps love, perhaps." Scarlet said softly not wanting to continue this pointless debate. She just hoped that The Pale Tree would forgive her, for not heeding her warning. "I just hope we can get back to the Pale Tree before it's too late."
Sun wondered at this. "What does that mean?"
"It means love that we need to hurry. With Mordremoth awake his first act is to take out the Pale Tree and retake his servants." Scarlet answered.
"Wait, the Silvari are the servant's of Mordremoth?" Sun did not like the sound of this at all. Several of her friends were Silvari and she didn't want them to end up like Scarlet. "No, are all Silvari going to end up like how you did?"
"That's right love, but he can't take them while the Pale Tree protects them. The only servant's he has right now are the Nightmare Court." Scarlet was trying not to make things sound dire but she had failed on that part.
"Then we need to get back NOW!" Sun declared as she noticed a small settlement in the distance.
Hopefully we can find someone to tell them how to get back to the Pale Tree, then Divinity's Reach would just be an Aura Gate away. No wait all of the Asura Gates in Lions Arch were destroyed by Scarlet and her minions. Sun's blood boiled at the destruction that Scarlet under the dragon's influence had caused. Running ahead of Scarlet she headed for the clearing. Sun was going to find help.
Sun turned around. "I'll come back for you later but we need to find a way back home to warn The Pale Tree and everyone about Mordremoth's awakening." With that said Sun took off leaving Scarlet behind to limp along.
Scarlet smiled despite herself. She was in love with the red headed Elimentalist. She just couldn't help it, for some reason her Silvari heart warmed and glowed when Sun was around. Even under the Dragon's accursed influence she still felt the same, but she could only look on in horror as her mind and body wouldn't listen as she desperately tried to kill the one person whom she loved with all her leafy heart.
"You really are my love Sun, and I swear on the Eternal Alchemy I won't let anything happen to you." Scarlet said making it her own personal oath. Scarlet resumed her hobbling headed in the same direction that her love ran.
Sun kept running, then she saw what she was looking for, a road, a road to help. Sun ran fallowing the road she saw a small settlement in the distance several buildings had lights coming from small windows. As she got closer the lights all started going out.
"Nononon...please Balthazar let me find someone still up I need to get Scarlet, so we can get back in time to save the Pale Tree." Sun pleaded to her God as she ran into the village proper.
Running past several houses and across a small stone bridge she could see a fountain in what appeared to be the town square. The Village reminded her of the settlements in Gendarren Fields but she noticed that there were no walls no watchmen no defenses of any kind. What if the centaurs attack, or the undead? Where in Tyria, am I? Sun's mind was racing as she was running trying to find some structure with a light still on. Then just as her hope was about to die she saw a light on in what appeared to be a large tree, but it had windows and a small door. Is this a Dwarven settlement but I thought they all were transformed and went to kill the Destroyers in the underground? Sun was about to find out. Trying to catch her breath she inhaled and exhaled slowly then she knocked on the small door.
"I wonder who it could be at this time of night?" Twilight got up off her reading seat to go and answer the door. She looked at Owlicious who was perched on top of a bookshelf, he just hooted at her in reply.
Twilight got to the door just as there was another knock.
"I'm coming." she said opening the door with her magic.
Sun heard a young woman's voice from inside the tree as she knocked again. Then the door opened and a small purple hoarse answered. Sun dropped her staff, as well as her jaw the staff made several clacks when it hit the ground and bounced a few times.
"What in Balthazar's name are you?" Sun asked the small hoarse terrified. She wasn't terrified of the hoarse no, but if this place was somehow controlled by the centaurs then she was in enemy territory and that was terrifying.
Twilight couldn't believe her eyes there was a tall human being that was dressed kinda funny that was holding a staff that was now laying on the ground and she was looking down at her with Emerald eyes full of fright.
"Umm...excuse me miss but can I help you?" Twilight asked.
"Are you allies with the centaurs?" Sun asked the purple talking hoarse.
"I don't think so...why?" Twilight told the woman.
That was one less thing Sun had to worry about. But there was a matter that needed to quickly be addressed. Sun took a deep breath then slowly letting it out giving the small purple hoarse a steely gaze.
"Yes, as a matter of fact I do need help. I need to get back to Divinity's Reach in Tyria so that we can warn the Pale Tree about Mordremoth." Sun then collapsed on the ground when she fell she grabbed a hold of her staff and picked it up and leaned onto it for support.
Twilight's eyes went wide. By her demeanor and expression then whoever or whatever this Pale Tree was, was really important to her.
"Please Miss come inside I'll help you, just calm down. " Twilight said running back inside her Tree House as she started looking for old maps of Equestis trying to find this Divinity's Reach.
Sun had to bend over to get through the door way but at least she was able to stand up inside. She had completely forgotten about Scarlet. Even though she just sat down she forced herself to her feet. "I'm sorry little horsy but I need to go get Scarlet she's still out there wounded."
Twilight gasped. Another human here? But the mirror to the human world is still in the Crystal Empire so how did they get here, and what is this Divinity's Reach and Pale Tree and just who in the hoof is Mordremoth. Twilight had so many questions but they would have to wait.
"I'm Princess Twilight Sparkle, your in the Ponyville Library I have questions for you Miss but they can wait till we retrieve your friend." Twilight said as she put on her saddle bags.
"Spike! Spike! Wake up we have an emergency on our hooves!" Twilight said as she scrambled around putting everything she thought she would need into them.
"What's the emergency Twilight?" Spike said groggily as he came down stairs to see Twilight scramble around putting a first aid kit and bandages into her saddle bags.
"Quick Spike me and Miss..?" Twilight said to the woman.
"I'm Sun Shang Xiang, hero of Shamore, and Member of the Durmond Priory Co-Ruler of The Pact lead by Trahearne of the Pale Tree." Sun said trying to convince this small hoarse that what she said was true, but still unsure if this creature knew about anything she was telling her.
"Well miss Sun that is my dragon assistant Spike." Twilight said still rushing around putting more first aid supply's into her bags.
Sun looked at the Dragon, not sure what to think. All of the dragons she knew were giant's that killed everything mercilessly. This one was small and looked rather friendly.
"Come on Miss Sun we have to go and get your friend." Twilight said opening the door for them to exit.
Sun started for the door, but she noticed that the baby dragon was looking after them while they started to leave. Spike watched the woman leave with Twilight as he let out a sigh and went upstairs to prep the bed for an injured person.
Scarlet was making decent progress she still held her side but her leg seemed to be getting better she wasn't limping a bad as she had been in the forest. Making it to the road she saw Sun, her love coming at her with a small purple four legged creature next to her.
"Centaurs, the only ones I wasn't able to get involved in Mordremoth's plan." She said rolling her eyes as she limped over to meet them.
"Scarlet I told you to wait for me. I said I would find help." Sun was gasping for breath as she bent over her and put her hands on her knees, chest heaving as her two red ponytails dangled on either side of her head. She was drenched with sweat but her concern for Scarlet was sincere. If what she had told her about Mordremoth was true then they needed to hurry and let The Pact know.
"I didn't think you cared about me love?" Scarlet said with a indiscernible expression on her face.
"Of course I care about you Scarlet, though I'd love to blame you for everything you've done. You weren't really the one doing it. Mordremoth is to blame and I hate him for turning you into a weapon. I hate him for what he did to Kessex Hill's and Lion's Arch and I will make sure that the Pact knows, that all of it, wasn't your fault."
Twilight could not believe what she was seeing. A living plant type person was standing just a few feet from her. She was green and had red and dark green leaves for hair. Her eyes were a glowing yellow and she was clutching her side with one of her hands and she seemed to be putting most of her wait one her right foot. Twilight shook her head vigorously. OK, OK, so there is a plant person that's injured and I have no idea what to do for her. Do I call on a botanist or someone from the hospital.
Scarlet broke Twilight from her thoughts. "Well that's interesting a small talking purple hoarse with wings and a horn. Did you get help from the local circus love?" Scarlet addressed the human in the group who was still trying to catch her breath.
"I am not from the CIRCUS!" Twilight declared with a hoof stomp and raised wings.
"Oh, I'm sorry I wasn't speaking to you, I was talking to my love." Scarlet said pointing to the still panting Elemetalist.
"I don't care your friend Sun asked ME to come here and help YOU and YOUR being rude!" Twilight said angrily.
Scarlet couldn't help but laugh. It was just too obscured. She was just freed from Mordremoth's curse and now she was being yelled at by a miniature whatever it was, who was going to help.
"Is this really the best you can do love? You couldn't find one of your other friends? That Norn lummox or that arrow shooting Charr or that tart little Mesmer? You just had to bring a mini?" Scarlet said shaking her head in disappointment.
"Stop calling me mini! I'm a PRINCESS and I can do MAGIC! I even know some healing spells which I'm not sure I want to even use on you now." Twilight said to the plant lady.
"Well Tra la la, a mini princess. You know your only half of Queen Jennah with just a tad more purple than what I would like, but at this point beggar's can't be choosers. Princess mini." Scarlet had put her index and thumb fairly close together and squinted a bit as she looked at the mini princess. This is just too fun. She thought as she looked at the small princess who was getting steamed.
Sun finally interjected before Scarlet continued her cruel yet humorous ridicule.
"Scarlet please stop patronizing the poor pony princess." Sun stated then she went side eyed at what she just said.
"That was BRILLIANT love! I didn't know you could even pull off a rhyme like that. But what your trying to say is I shouldn't look a gift hoarse in the mouth? Albit a mini one?" Scarlet said looking from her blank faced love to the small pony princess.
"Yes, she's Princess Twilight and she was the only one I could find that was still awake. So can you please stop teasing her Scarlet, for my sake if not for yours." Sun was tired hot and sweaty and she was in no mood to listen to a lunatic Silvari pick on a small and funny looking princess.
"Fine love, whatever you say." Scarlet then gave a gesture to lead the way.
Twilight cooled off as the strange trio walked back into Ponyville. Twilight explained to the newcomers where they were and about Pony society that the two sister's created. They the tried to explain where they came from and about the Elder Dragons who were decimating the place they had come from. Sun was just barley able to walk as the three entered the Library. They all realized that they were from completely different worlds and the new arrivals now knew that they won't be able to warn their friend's about the new Elder Dragon.
Twilight helped Sun get Scarlet into the upstairs bed as Twilight used her magic to put her pillow under the SIlvari woman's head she talked to them.
"Thank you Twilight. I know that I can be a pain in the bud but I'm trying my best. I've just been under Mordremoth's curse for so long it's just overcompensation. I guess that I try to poke fun at everything in life." Scarlet confessed.
"Don't worry Scarlet I'm not mad at you anymore. I'm just sorry I can't help you warn your friends back home. I'll do my best to assist you but at least your safe from the Elder Dragons here." Twilight now knowing most of Scarlet's history she was trying to stay cheerful though she and her friend's faced dangers like Nightmare Moon and Queen Chrysalis what the people back in Tyria were facing was far greater.
"Please don't call me Scarlet anymore." Sun thought tired looked surprised and Twilight seemed confused.
"I thought that was your name." Sun said softly.
"No, love." Scarlet slowly shook her head. "That is what Mordremoth called me. My real name is Ceara and now I'm free from my nightmare please love, can you call me by that now?" there was a great pleading in her voice.
Sun and Twilight looked at the broken Slivari two hearts filled with love and pity. Sun was the one who, though tired, managed to bend down and putting her left hand on the Silvari's right cheek she brought her lips to her's as a strange energy filled the room. A pink and gold light erupted from two hearts Ceara started to glow with a golden aura and Sun with a red and pink one. twilight had to put a hoof in front of her eye's till the light faded. She knew that feeling and that power but this one was different, more intense. This was the magic of love.
Sun collapsed just as soon as the moment passed and the power faded. Turing over she leaned against the bed that held a sleeping SIlvari. A silvarian hand hung down from off the side of the bed and Sun grasped it bringing it in and kissing it. Their finger's intertwined.
"I love you too Ceara. At least the dragon's can't touch us here." It was the final thing that Sun said before her eye's closed as she fell asleep.
Twilight couldn't believe what she had just witnessed. Two of the greatest enemies now lovers and that power so bright and intense. Getting herself back together Twilight slowly made her way down stairs trying to be a quiet as possible so not to wake the two warn out and sleeping women.
"Hay Twi. So what was with the magic show?" Spike asked curiously.
"I don't know for sure yet but I need to send a letter to Celestia." Twilight said as she got out a fresh bottle of ink and a quill.
"Wait, like right now? It's the middle of the night Celestia won't even be awake to read it." Spike whined but attempted to back it up with reason.
"It's important Spike she need's to know. The sooner the better." Twilight said as she gave Spike the glare.
"Fine, fine you win but I'm not taking responsibility if you wake her up with a letter to the head." Spike said begrudgingly.
twilight started her letter......Dear Princess Celestia.
The Castle of the Two sisters, Darkness Erupts
Unbeknownst to anyone in a ancient run down castle a small black slime covered worm inched it's way across the castle floor. Sun had destroyed the main body but thanks to her healing spell that was meant for it's dying host, a small tentacle was rejuvenated and survived. It was seeking out another darkness that was attempting to hid from the light. The worm was now locked onto the shred of Nightmare Moon that had survived the Rainbow of magic that shattered the malefic spell that had bound princess Luna. Now an even darker power was seeking out that leftover piece.
The black worm inched it's way into the chamber where the elements of harmony were on display. There in the one of the corners was it's target, a shred of dark shadow energy. It is what the worm needed to regain what was lost. It now moving with greater speed it's intent magnified. The shadow knew that something was coming so it hovered and darted but it headed right for the black worm. The two matters of darkness collided sending out a small wave of malefic energy on impact and a great struggle began. Both the shadow and the worm fought to devour the other. Now a ball of oozing black puss surrounded by the flowing hatred of nightmare. The ball bounced and spun all across the room leaving a dark slimy residue every time it made contact with something solid, which then made the mass bounce again. If a normal person or pony was watching it would look like a squishy black baseball that emanated shadows and somehow got the power of a super ball bouncing and splattering itself all over the room. In essence it was making quite a mess. Inside however was a storm of chaos as the two dark entities tried to adsorb and use the other as a catalyst to bring about it's own ends and gains.
Then just a suddenly, the ball froze in mid air in the center of the room. The struggle was at an end. dark green vines erupted from the black ball fallowed by stronger branches and twigs, two of the vines and branches hit the floor, forming recognizable yet strange looking front hooves as the legs formed, varying shades of Dark Green and Red leaves covered the vines and branches like a sickly looking skin. Then the main body was formed, fallowed soon after by two hind legs and a great leafy tail flowed out behind it. Finally the neck formed and attached to it was a head that was a gross cross between a dragon and pony. It had a feminine looking muzzle but it was full of green and white fangs and had a black tongue that licked it's newly formed lips as it regenerated it's mane an array of foliage mixed into a flowing night sky trailed out behind it's neck. Four black and gray horns grew out of the top of the head the two on the outside dwarfing the two in the center. Then as it was taking it's final shape two dark yellow eye's with those slitted dragon style irises opened. The monstrosity let out a terrifying screech that made all animals in the region stand up and quickly bolt trying to get way as far and as fast as their various legs could carry them.
The grotesque cross between nightmare and Mordremoth did it's final act of regeneration. Great branches formed what looked like bony wings then that same varied red and green foliage sprouted filling in the voids between each set of branches. With it's wings now fully formed, the monster looked up into the night sky, letting out a cross between a hiss and snarl the creature took flight heading for the Equestrian capitol of Canterlot.
