Thunderstruck
Scootaloo's Good Day
Load Full Story7:30 AM
Scootaloo arose to the sun in her eyes. She blinked out the blurriness and looked at her clock. "7:30 already? I shouldn't have stayed up that late reading that scootering book... oh, at least I'll be able to ride to school more awesomer than yesterday... wait... is awesomer a word? Whatever, I'm not the dictionary," she said hoarsely to herself. "Leave that to Sweetie Belle."
She picked up her saddlebag and swung it onto her back. The magenta-haired filly pushed open the door and walked down the hall into the black-and-white tiled kitchen. Popping some Sunrise Waffles into the toaster, she trotted into her deep purple bathroom and roughly combed through her mane. The orange pegasus picked up her toothbrush with expertise and brushed her teeth thoroughly.
"Minty fresh!" she chuckled, fluffing out her wings. Walking out to get her waffles and hearing the ding she found they had been waffle-napped! "Not funny Cocoa!" she yelled. The orphan foal walked up to her with a groan.
"Why can't I have iiiiiitt?"
"Because I need to go to school, and you can stay home all day." she growled, plucking her waffles out of her hooves. Scootaloo ruffled the little earth pony's chocolate brown mane. Cocoa laughed, swatted her hoof away, and ran back to her room.
Scootaloo then wolfed down her waffles, poured syrup on the chewed waffles, and topped it off with whipped cream and blueberries. Trotting out the door, she dragged her scooter out of the "garage" and snapped on her helmet. She hopped on her recently-shined scooter and took of down the dirt path. The bright sun beat down on her sunset fur and she buzzed to school, screeching to a halt at the bright red school house. She saw a familiar face waiting at the bike rack. Looking at her, he waved and smiles.
"Hey Scootaloo!" the colt yelled out.
"Oh, hey Rumble!" she said, waving back to him. She locked her scooter in the bike rack and shook off her helmet. Trotting in the building, she sat down and got ready for the school day.
8:00 AM
The school bell rung, and along with that, many fillies and colts came stomping in. They chattered and laughed, conversed and snickered. Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom trotted up to her, smiling and laughing.
"Oh my gosh Scoots! Did you hear what Diamond Tiara just did? She tried to kick some sand into Dinky's eyes but slipped! She ended up getting sand tangled in her mane! She was so embarrassed!" Sweetie Belle giggled. "She is never going to live that down!"
"I bet she wouldn't," she moaned. She looked up and say Button Mash, Rumble and Spike chuckling and smashing into each other playfully. "And ponies wonder why I get along with boys better.
"Huh Scoots?" Apple Bloom said, looking at her. "Whatsa matter?"
"Nothing, really."
9:00 AM
"Hey Scootaloo, want to, maybe, work on the puzzle together?" Rumble said, kicking his hoof behind his other hoof with pleading eyes. "Button Mash is too busy trying to make his way through Future, and Spike is trying to score a date with Sweetie Belle."
"Oh, uh, sure!" she giggled, looking him in the eyes. She scooted over on her bench and patted the empty space with her hoof. "Have a seat!"
"Oh, thanks!" he said, sitting down.
As he sat down, Scootaloo felt her face heat up. "Is it hot in here?" she whispered, fanning her face.
"Uh.. no."
"Oh..." What is wrong with me?
12:00 PM
The bell rang to signal lunch and recess. Foals dropped what they were doing and ran out the door. Rumble opened his mouth to say something, but Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle ran to either side of her, cutting off the lavender eyed colt.
"Silver Spoon just walked up to us and asked to join the Cutie Mark Crusaders! I mean, even though she has her cutie mark, she wants to be friends with us....." Sweetie Belle kept droning on and on, but Scootaloo didn't listen. She thought about why she got flushed and sweaty when Rumble sat next to her. When they got to the lunch area of the playground, she sat down and kept thinking. His coat was so soft, and he smelled just amazing.
Wait, do I have a-
"Uh, Scootaloo? Ya'll okay?" Apple Bloom said, severing her thoughts.
"Uh... yeah, yeah! Peachy keen!"
"Well, as I was saying, do you think she should join us?" Sweetie Belle squeaked.
"Yeah, that'd be nice..."
"Ya'll seem ah little sick. D'ya want us to git tha nurse?"
"I'm fine, fine."
2:00 PM
The bell rang to release school. Foals plopped their saddle bags on their haunches and walked out to their waiting parents. Scootaloo eased her helmet over her mane and unlocked her scooter. Did she really like Rumble? She couldn't, it'd be to awkward.
"How's life?" A familiar voice said from behind her.
"Oh hey Rumble! Can't complain!"
"I rode my scooter.. so, ya know... can we ride home together?"
"Oh, um, sure!" The orphanage won't mind...
2:05 PM
"Rumble, you need a break?" Scootaloo asked the wheezing pegasus.
"No... *gasp*.. I'm...fine...*sigh*"
"Okay!" she said, buzzing her wings a little faster than before.
"No... no... okay... I need a break.." he chuckled, folding his wings and stepping off his scooter.
"That's what I thought," Scootaloo purred, scrunching her nose up. "Luckily for you, I have a water bottle, and a leftover apple. Fresh from Sweet Apple Acres!"
"Those sound heavenly!" Rumble gasped, graciously taking the apple and water.
2:15
"Well, here's your house..." Scootaloo whispered, looking at the larger-than-average house. The hay roof had been painted magenta, with yellow walls and plenty of windows. She really wished she lived here.... no! She was grateful for what she had.
"Well, thanks for riding with me home!" The gray colt smiled.
"No problem!"
There was a pause. "You know something? We should really hang out sometime."
"W-what?" Scootaloo stuttered. She was deeply surprised.
"Sorry, gotta go. Bye!" The orange pegasus watched Rumble leave, propping his scooter on his wall and walking in his door. She smiled to herself. She definitely had a crush on him. No doubt about it, she was love stuck. Felt like thunder, she pondered. Thunderstruck.
It truely was the best day ever.
