The story of the lost girl
I am alone... where am I? What happened to everypony? These thoughts run through your mind on an endless loop, the chill of a Winter evening biting through your clothes
Running through the forest, you try to find shelter or life besides the snow heavy trees around you.
Looking around the forest, a warm glow catches your eye Shelter?
Thanking the sun and moon, you follow the light to a simple house
Adrenaline rushes through your veins as you dash towards it, the chill seeming to dim as you approach. I hope there's somepony who can help me get back... you think to yourself, grinning wide
After knocking on the door, it is slowly opened by the one thing you hadn't seen in a long time. Another human.
Suddenly, your stamina drops and following its example, so do you, the last thing you see or hear being a hand reaching for you, asking if you're alright
No... I'm not alright... I'm home... you think to yourself, losing consciousness
You slowly come to, your clothes missing and a number of warm blankets and quilts covering your slender frame
"H-hello?" you call, having forgotten that humans aren't usually nude
"I'ma comin'!" a man's voice answers, followed by the unmistakable smell of chicken soup.
A very solid man walks in, impressive muscles hidden by a flannel shirt and well-worn jeans "Glad ta see yer awake. I made some soup fer ya" he nods to the steaming bowl in his large hands
Nodding numbly, you take it, taking in the heady aroma I never knew how much I'd miss chicken soup
The man pulls a large chair over, sitting so that he faces you "Sorry 'bout yer clothes. I took 'em 'cause they was wet and I'm jus' dryin' em"
You nod your thanks, drinking the soup before turning to look at him "Where am I?"
"Minnesota, sorry it ain' Boston but It's quiet" he responds
Minnesota? I'm back on Earth? you think to yourself, suddenly feeling homesick Wait, I should be happy to be back! But... I'm not...
"My name is Hiram, what's yours?"
You have a small internal debate of whether you should give the name you were born with or the one that you chose for Equestria.
Why am I even thinking about this? I gave my self this name.
You look at him "My name is Aurora, sir." You put out your hand to shake his as you think about how you got to Equestria in the first place.
Hiram smiles and shakes your hand "Tha's a beautiful name. Yer parents musta loved ya a lot ta give ya a name like that"
My parents... I haven't thought about them in so long... you think to yourself, sipping more of the soup
Hiram sits back on his chair, hands behind his head "So you wanna tell me why you were in th' forest wearin' nuthin' but a shirt, shorts, and socks? It's fine if'n ya don't want ta, jus' might be nice ta know"
You smile, his attitude brightening your spirit "It's a long story Hiram"
He shrugs "Got nuthin' but time 'ere, ya know yer lucky? There was a huge snow storm that disappeared righ' b'fore ya showed up. Ah'm guessin' that ya were walkin' around when it came?"
You cock your head, trying to remember what happened I was with everypony before I felt weird and I woke up in the forest... There's something I'm forgetting but I can't remember...
"... Would you believe I woke up in the forest with no idea of how I got there?"
He shakes hios head "Not in th' least. Now wha' happened 'fore ya 'Woke up'?"
A bit of irritation from his disbelief passes through you "I wasn't Taking drugs! I'm not some drug-addict! I was hanging with my friends when I suddenly felt sick! I think I fell over and when I came to, I was alone in the forest!"
He nods, placing a warm hand on your shoulder "Ah know ya aren't, ah was just makin' sure. Now... mind telling me th' about where ya were?"
You smile, Hiram's warm hand and voice settling your anger "Sorry Hiram, I'm just confused. As to where I was... I might need to go back a long while"
He smiles, readjusting his posture "Take yer time, Aurora, take all the time you need"
(You were) bedridden on Earth but after thinking she would go to sleep for the last time, she awoke in Equestria in the hospital.
Well, I don't think I was on Earth. I was on a world called Equestria, which might be in another dimension or something
One of Hiram's eyebrows rise
Hard to believe I know, but that's the only thing I can think of to explain it. I was born... ill. I was always weaker than everyone else, never gained much weight, and sick constantly. My parents were fairly well off but I was a lost cause. It was my 14th birthday, my parents and a few friends that dropped off my homework and my best friend Tiffany were there. I knew my time was almost over so mustering all my strength, I made a wish.
I wished to get better, to be able to move without fear of getting sore or sick. I wished that my parents wouldn't be so worried so much. After the last candle went out, I suddenly felt sleepy.
"I figured that I was dying so I resigned myself to my fate, a single though in my mind as I faded
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it
You pause, looking at Hiram who had sat expressionless
I don't know how long I was asleep for but I woke up in a different bed
"Hello?" I called out, medical devices pinging and beeping around me
A curtain moved and staring right at me was a white horse with a pink mane and tail
Hiram nods, a smile on his lips
We stared at each other for a good few minutes before she blinked and turned around "Tenderheart! Did you put anything in my coffee?!"
"No! I learned my lesson the last dozen times! I made sure to keep the Mescaline and the rest in the refrigerator! Speaking of which, why is the desk speaking in brail?" a higher pitched voice answered, followed by a loud thud
The white horse groans "I need to get that mare an IQ test someday..."
"So this is heaven... talking horses..." I muttered
"Trust me, this is far from heav- and you are talking. Wonderful." the horse says, giving me a bored look
I stare at her "So can you, and I'm pretty sure I just died"
She shrugs "I'm not equipped to babysit a bald monkey thing. I'll leave you alone until the end of my shift and then I can take you to somepony who might know what you are. My name is Nurse Redheart by the way"
I told her my name and then she left to yell another pony about something
Hiram laughs "Sounds like a real spirited pony ta me"
You stare at him "You... believe me?"
He nods "'Course! Ah've seen countless things that defy all th' laws of nature in mah life. I actually think ah met one of 'em... or maybe that was a goat..."
You laugh despite yourself, the man's expressions making you smile
"Then what?"
