Snow Silence

A short story which explores through the eyes of a brony what it's like for society's most vulnerable.

This is a story about a weary and confused traveler in this lonely world, and an oncoming storm, which threatens to engulf him in its cold silence.

When the snow falls, there's an eerie quite, a silence, which absorbs all sounds and leaves a background static amidst this silence. This is called Snow Silence.

There has been some confusion about this story so let me explain somethings up front. Spoilers because, well, there are spoilers ahead!

First off, I use the phrase "Society's most vulnerable" a few times. Some people seem confused as to what this means. "Society's most vulnerable" is a phrase you'll frequently encounter in sociology texts and papers, psychology journals, and various other sources. The phrase references the people in society who are most likely to be forgotten by the system and others. By that, I mean the poor, destitute, mentally ill, and others who have a hard time functioning in society. These are people who even a tiny disaster can cause devastation for them. Hence the phrase "Most Vulnerable." I had assumed it was well known term, but apparently I was wrong and I do apologize for that.

This story explores what the world might look like through the eyes of someone who is mentally ill. I'm using MLP as a backdrop to try and make the story relatable and interesting for the readers here. It's a tough subject that's hard to write well and get across to people who have limited experience with it. In that regard, I am sorry to say I've seemed to have failed, at least a bit.

This is a short story I wrote last year when it was snowing. It's the inspiration for the larger story I'm currently working on called "Specter".

This story is meant to be an examination of the human condition using My Little Pony as the basis for the connection and story. I've tried to make a serious short work here that explores one particularly broken aspect of humanity, society, and reality itself.

As always any and all comments are welcome. Please feel free to let me know about any errors and I will correct them.
