Octavia's music played softly in the small apartment. Vinyl Scratch and Octavia sipped tea in Vinyl Scratch's living room. A tray of cookies sat on the coffee table, untouched.
Vinyl Scratch picked up a cookie, and shoved it into her mouth. Octavia just looked at the plate of burnt cookies.
"Come on Tavi, just try one! They're so good." Vinyl Scratch said to Octavia with her mouth full of cookies.
"Well I won't be able to if you're going to eat them all." Octavia replied. "Anyway, look at the time, I have to go."
"Ok... I'll see you tomorrow then?" Vinyl asked.
"Of course." Replied Octavia.
Octavia walked out the door of Vinyl's apartment but stood outside for a second. The soft music Octavia had put on stopped. Then a moment later Vinyl started blasting her own music. Octavia sighed and shook her head as she got into the elevator to take her down to the lobby.
The grey mare straightened her pink bow tie and walked out of the building. She then realized that she was starving, she hadn't eaten any of Vinyl Scratch's cookies anyway. Octavia knew very well that Vinyl wasn't the best baker and that she should not eat anything that Vinyl made.
Then a smell came from across the street, it was a good smell. Octavia could tell that it was obviously the smell of food, not the food she was accustomed to eating, but food all the same.
Octavia walked across the street to the source of the smell, and found herself facing The Best Burger Restaurant. She had heard so much about this place, ponies told her it was the best fast food restaurant there was. She was already there, so Octavia decided to go in, just to see, not to eat.
The smell was amazing. She decided just to see what the ponies meant when they said it was the best fast food restaurant. Octavia knew she had promised herself she wouldn't eat any of this terrible food, but the smell was so good, and she was so hungry, that she couldn't resist. Anyway, it would only be just this once.
Octavia walked up to the counter and asked the stallion working there for a menu. He stood there looking at Octavia for a minute, and then pointed upwards at a screen flashing between pictures of burgers and other foods you could eat. Octavia looked up and stared at the pictures, they all looked so great. She only wanted just to eat them, to eat them all, they looked so good...
"JUST ORDER ALREADY STUPID!" A little filly in line behind Octavia yelled.
"I agree I just want to eat!" The mare in line after the filly said.
Octavia stood there for a second, looking at the mare and filly. Realizing how stupid she must've looked. And how long exactly had she been standing there? Octavia looked up at the screen once more. At that moment the screen was on a picture of a plain hamburger.
"Ummm I'll just have a plain hamburger please..." Octavia told the stallion working there.
"Alright that will be 4.99" the stallion told Octavia.
So Octavia paid and took the burger to the only table left in the restaurant. She sat down at the two person table and began on her burger.
The burger tasted wonderful, Octavia had never tasted something so great in her life. She finished the burger quickly and ordered another, she ate that one and then ordered another, and another, and another, and another!
Octavia ran up to the counter and ordered another hamburger. She paid and went back to her table.
As Octavia sat down, a mare with a white coat and a messy blue mane with bright red eyes walked into the restaurant, it was Vinyl Scratch. Octavia started on her seventh burger, after six before this, it still tasted wonderful.
Vinyl had ordered and now needed a place to sit down. Unfortunately all the tables were full. But then Vinyl spotted Octavia sitting at the back of the restaurant, and she had an extra seat.
Vinyl Scratch walked over to Octavia's table and looked at her friend. But Vinyl didn't see the Octavia she had expected to see. She saw an Octavia with ketchup and mustard smeared around her mouth. Vinyl saw something that she thought would never in a million years happen, Octavia was eating a hamburger.
Octavia looked up from her burger and let out a high pitched scream, which only caused everypony in the restaurant to look at her. Vinyl Scratch was standing in front of her, watching her eat her hamburger.
"OCTAVIA!" Vinyl shouted, "HOW ARE YOU EATING A BURGER, YOU'RE THE MOST SOPHISTICATED, WELL MANNERED PONY I KNOW, WHY, HOW, ARE YOU EATING A BURGER!"
"Technically it's a hamburger..." Octavia whispered, embarrassed.
Then a tall pony rose from a table in the corner of the restaurant.
"Vinyl Scratch," it said, "come here."
Vinyl Scratch moved forward slowly. The mysterious pony emerged from the corner of the room, it was Princess Celestia.
"Vinyl Scratch, today you did an amazing thing, something nopony else could ever do." Princess Celestia said.
"What the hay?" Vinyl said.
"You stopped Octavia from eating a hamburger, which could be exremely deadly to her." Princess Celestia said, ignoring Vinyl's words, "You have fulfilled your destiny."
Princess Celestia picked Vinyl Scratch up with her magic and a glowing red aura flew out of the princess's horn.
"Hold it one second," Vinyl said.
Celestia paused and looked at her.
"What do you mean 'fulfilled my destiny' Isn't my destiny making music?" Vinyl asked.
Celestia looked at Vinyl Scratch for a second and resumed what she was doing. The magical aura got bigger and surrounded Vinyl Scratch.
Ponies gasped as Vinyl fell to the ground. Vinyl stood up and spread out her... WINGS?!?!?!?!?!?
Octavia gasped, "Vinyl, you're, you're, an alicorn!"
"Yeah and a princess too." Celestia said, "Princess Pon-3"
Then Princess Celestia walked up to the counter and ordered a hamburger.
