The cats slimmed through the bushes calmly. Owlmoon rose her tail and sniffed the air, the smell of Floodclan filling her nose much to her unpleasure. "Floodclan." Owlmoon whispered to her clan mates, pressing her belly to the floor. "Get down!"
The sillouhettes of cats sliding out of the water caught the eyes of the cats. And leading the patrol was the Floodclan deputy, Insectpelt.
"Insectpelt! How dare you hunt in our territory!" Owl moon hissed, standing to her paws. "You will pay for breaking the code!"
Insectpelt cackled menacingly. "Oh Owlmoon, after the battle this will be a Floodclan hunting ground." She cast a glance at her fellow Clanmates.
Owlmoon bristled with rage and heard the disapproving howls of some cats behind her."We'll see about that!" And the cats leapt into battle. Owlmoon ran to the rescue of Muffinfur. She tore a Floodclan cat right off of the gray cat, who responded by retreating, her blonde paws working overtime to bring her to safety. Just as Owlmoon thought they were winning, she turned to see about 10 cats limping for their lives, injured and weak. She called to Armorclaw "We must retreat!"
"No! No, Owlmoon! Equestrianclan will never surrender!"
"Armorclaw, the lives of many are dwindling!"
"Do as you wish, Deputy."
Owlmoon climbed onto a rock overhanging the battlefield. "Retreat, Equestrianclan, Retreat!" She yowled.
One by one, the cats obeyed.Owlmoon walked with them, hearing the wicked laughter of the Floodclan cats as they spread their victory.
The night fog have way to two cats, the Leader Sunstar and the medicine cat Redheart. Redheart leapt up onto the Highrock. Sunstar noticed her instantly. "Are they all ok?" She asked.
"Yes. They are injured but will heal with ease."
"And of Muffinfur?"
"Her wounds are deep, Sunstar, and she still has that eye problem. But she is young, will heal quickly, and her eyes don't affect her skills."
Sunstar let out a sigh and looked to the stars. "We are lucky to have not lost any lives. We are already dwindling."
"I don't think luck is on our side this time."
"Why do you say that?"
"Equestrianclan has never lost territory before, Sunstar!" Redheart yowled.
"Then that is why I am asking Swirlclan for help."
"Swirclan?"
"Yes, when was the last time the cats talked to you?"
"Many moons ago, Sunstar."
"Try."
Redheart closed her eyes and she felt the world fade. She saw a Russian blue cat with rainbows makingnan X behind the cat, as well as a glow of the same colors shimmering behind it. Redheart thrust her head forward and took deep breaths. "It was a prophecy." She turned her head away,her bristling fur settling. "Loyalty accompanied by others will save us all."
"Loyalty!? But how can loyalty save us? All the clans have loyalty! How could it save us?"
"I do not know, Sunstar. But it is what Starclan has told me."
"As you wish."
"I will see you tommorow, then." And the white and red fae jumped away.
