Darkness fell over Equestria as the moon eclipsed the sun. Nightmare Moon stood tall as she faced Celestia in the throne room of their castle; glaring at the Sun Princess as hatred filled the very fiber of her body.
"Your precious sun has ruled the skies for too long," she bellowed. "Stand down and let the night reign forever!"
Celestia's eyes narrowed as she glared back at her corrupted sister.
"You know I can't do that, sister," she replied. "I will not allow you to disrupt the harmony of Equestria!"
Her sister's impudence caused Nightmare Moon to snarl in anger. She reared up on her hind legs and shot of beam of her dark magic at Celestia; forcing her to fly back and smash against a pillar, causing it to crumble and fall. Celestia quickly got out of the way before the massive stone fragments could crush her.
Nightmare Moon continued to blast her magic at Celestia; watching in frustration as her sister kept dodging each blast with such ease and grace. Such movements reminded her of the torment her former self had went through as Celestia had received endless praises from their subjects. Each praise tearing harder at her heart than the last.
"I HATE you!" Nightmare Moon screeched as she charged up her magic for one final blast.
Celestia prepared herself to take flight to dodge the blast, but was taken off-guard as Nightmare Moon had aimed above her. Her eyes widened in horror as the grand chandelier plummeted down over her. Celestia tried to get out of the way, but was frozen in place; she looked down to see Nightmare Moon's magic pulsing around her hooves.
Nightmare Moon watched in devilish delight as the chandelier proceeded to crush the Sun Princess. She began to cackle as she drew closer towards the gruesome display, but was cut short as she noticed that Celestia was still alive.
"Luna please...end this now," Celestia whimpered as she tried freeing herself, but the weight of the chandelier was too much for her and forced her back down to the ground; coughing up blood.
"Pathetic..." Nightmare Moon spat. "Simply pathetic."
She used her magic to raise the chandelier off of her sister; silently approaching her in the process.
Celestia was a bit taken aback, but shook in fear as Nightmare Moon loomed over her. Tears poured endlessly from her eyes as she wondered what has become of her sister; what had made her this way?
"Wha-what are you going to do now?" She asked, trying to stand once again. "You wouldn't kill your own sister would you?"
Celestia knew the answer, she was no fool; especially since Nightmare Moon had tried to crush her with the chandelier.
Nightmare Moon smiled warmly and chuckled to see that Celestia was now unnerved.
"Oh dear sister, I'm not going to kill you. I have another punishment in mind."
Before Celestia could question what she had in mind, Nightmare Moon brought forth the Elements of Harmony and began to corrupt them with her dark magic. The sight made Celestia squeal in fright.
"Luna! What are you doing!?" She shrieked. "You can't do this!"
"I told you, I am not Luna," Nightmare Moon cackled as she stared into the depths of Celestia's eyes. "I am Nightmare Moon! Ruler of all of Equestria!"
Using the now corrupted Elements of Harmony, Nightmare Moon manifested their power and charged up her magic once more.
"Celestia! I hereby banish you to the very thing you hold dear!" Nightmare Moon exclaimed, "Your precious sun!"
Celestia let out a loud wail as she was sent hurtling towards the eclipsed sun; forcing the sun to set and for the moon to remain in its place. Nightmare Moon reared up in victory as she laughed maniacally and took flight into the night skies; over the many homes of her awaiting subjects.
"Arise my subjects!" She called out in a loud, booming voice that would surely wake anypony up. "Arise! The sun's eternal slumber has begun!"
Confused and fearful ponies crept out of their homes and began to gather round as Nightmare Moon landed before them; standing tall in triumph as the thought of the ponies adoration coursed through her dark mind.
"Bow down to your new ruler of Equestria," she said as she waited for them to follow her command; but frowned to see how hesitant they were. "Did you not hear me? I said BOW!"
The ponies jolted in fear and quickly bowed before Nightmare Moon; hoping that she wouldn't hurt them now that they had obeyed. Nightmare Moon smiled in satisfaction and got into a more relaxed position.
"That's better-"
"Where's Princess Celestia?"
Nightmare Moon cringed at the sound of her fallen sister's name.
"Who dares speak of the Sun Princess?!" She bellowed in anger as she looked through the crowd of ponies; her search did not last long as a young stallion stepped forward, looking Nightmare Moon in the eye without a hint of fear in his eyes.
"I did," he answered with confidence. "Now where is she? You could at least tell your subjects what you did to her."
"You want to know what happened to your precious Celestia? Fine, I will tell you," Nightmare Moon replied as she smirked; pausing a bit for a dramatic effect. "I have banished her to the sun!"
The ponies all gasped and began to converse to one another in worry with hushed voices. Nightmare Moon didn't want her subjects to fear her too much so that they would attempt an uprising, so she wanted to make their lives as comfortable as possible like the way it has always been.
"Do not worry, my subjects," she assured. "For I, Nightmare Moon, will allow you all to continue on with your lives as you have done before! All I ask of you is your adoration and your loyalty!"
"We'll never be loyal to you!"
It was the young stallion who spoke up again. Nightmare Moon was not pleased with this one's rebelliousness; she had to take care him and show her subjects what she would do if they were to defy her.
"Then perish." She responded darkly as she raised him up from the ground with her magic.
The young stallion struggled a bit as he glared at her.
"You won't get away with this, Nightmare Moon. Celestia will return!"
Nightmare Moon chuckled at his foolishness.
"I think not."
She then proceeded too pull his limbs as far as she could with her dark magic; screams of fear from the other ponies and the sound of bones dislocating from their sockets filling her ears. Nightmare Moon smiled grimly as she saw the pain flicker in the young stallion's eyes; oh if only she had done something like this to Celestia.
SQUEECH!
All was silent as the stallion became limp; his legs had been completely torn off and were now lying on the ground in pools of crimson blood. Nightmare Moon tossed his body aside carelessly and stared emotionless at her subjects.
"Now, does anyone else wish to oppose me?"
The only response Nightmare Moon received was the horrified look permanently plastered on the faces of the ponies; making it clear that they wouldn't dare stand up to her.
"Let it be known that if any of you disobey your new ruler, they shall be executed immediately," Nightmare Moon bellowed. "Do I make myself clear?!"
Still not answering, the ponies all bowed in fear of their lives; hoping that would satisfy her, and to their luck, it did. Nightmare Moon smiled once again and headed off to her castle to bask in her victorious feat.
