"Sorry, Twilight, but I have my own problems to deal with. Catching Artyom would be one."

"Catch him?"

"Twilight, just hear me out on this, okay? I'm a criminal. I'm his partner in crime. We commit crime on a daily basis - deal drugs, assassinate priority targets, steal, you name it. It's what kept the two of us alive for years now. I may have saved you from rape, but... given the circumstances, you could take care of yourself. Trial and error, and such. Besides, I'm too used to this lifestyle to give it up so easily."

"You don't need to do this, Daniel."

"That's for me to decide, not you."

"B-But-"

"Twilight, please, just go. I'm neither your problem, nor am I yours to lose."

She steps back, a hoof raised. The words hitting her like a ton of brick, surprise reflects from her expression, only to transform into sorrow.

"My lifestyle is not your choice to make. Leave, okay? Return to your family, or whomever."

Hesitant, she trots out of the alleyway, glancing back at me once more. I wave her goodbye, she waves back, and then returns to her path home.
