Spirit
Chapter Three
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSpirit heard the door shut. As quiet as it was, he heard it. His eyes slowly opened, and he looked. Where was his mommy? She had just put him to sleep, but where did she go? He whimpered and curled up into a ball.
It was nearly nine o'clock when Rarity opened the door the the Boutique. She lit a light and went into the kitchen. On the breakfast table was a note written by Sweetie Belle stating that she’s staying over at Applebloom’s. She must have not seen it before.
“Ugh, that filly is in so much trouble. She didn’t clean the dishes! I guess I’ll deal with her when she gets back.” Rarity’s fashion show was a semi-success. She managed to get a bunch of customers, but the show itself was less than mediocre. “Oh well, like they say, you can either try harder and improve or give up and never get anything done.”
Suddenly, Rarity heard a clattering noise in the dining room. She quietly moved into the dining room and turned on the lights. There, on top of the dining table, was Spirit fast asleep on top of a plate of unfinished toast that Sweetie Belle must have left there. How he managed to get on the table with an injured paw was a complete mystery. Rarity gasped loudly, causing Spirit to wake once again. He sniffed and then noticed a familiar smell.
Mommy! He thought as he goofily made his way to Rarity.
“Oh hello, Spirit. How on Earth did you manage to get on the table?” In response, Spirit yelped at her. “Oh you’ve gotten yourself all dirty! Let’s get you a bath.” Spirit was covered in butter and bread crumbs. His muzzle was covered in jam. Rarity assumed that he got into the jam jar.
“Come on now, let’s go upstairs.” Rarity picked up Spirit and placed him on her back and ran upstairs. She dropped Spirit into the bathtub and turned on the water. “I’ll clean you up just fine. Just stay still, dear.” Despite Rarity’s request, he squirmed around and played in the water.
“Calm down, Spirit! Let me wash you!”
Spirit yelped and splashed water onto Rarity. Rarity’s mouth fell open. “Oh no you didn’t!” She responded by splashing water back onto him and soaking his back. Spirit seemed to be enjoying the scene while Rarity was trying to pull breadcrumbs out of her mane. He just happily danced in the tub, rolling around in his little pool of bread and jam.
After ten minutes, Spirit finally allowed himself to be cleaned properly. Rarity was covered in all the grime that Spirit was earlier. After toweling him off, Rarity replaced his bandages and put him to bed.
“Ooh that wolf is a conundrum.” She decided to take another shower and go to bed. Something tells her that this’ll be her normal routine soon.
“Aaaaaah! Rarity! T-Th-There’s a WOLF in the living room!”
“I know.”
“You’re not going to do anything about it?”
“I’m going to go give him breakfast.”
“...What!?”
“Oh, and you’re grounded for not doing the dishes yesterday.”
“That doesn’t get rid of the fact that there’s a WOLF in our living room.”
“His name is Spirit, and you better get used to him. He’s staying with us for a while.
“I think you have some issues”
“That’s it. Go to your room.”
“Aww!”
“Now!”
As Sweetie Belle went up the stairs, Rarity went into the kitchen to get some milk for Spirit. Since he’s still a baby, he can last on a diet of milk for a short while.
“Hmm, this paper that Fluttershy gave me says you should be drinking lots of milk for the next few weeks. Oh. It says you’re going to grow really fast. Well, we better get you nice and strong! Who wants some milk?”
Spirit yelped and shook his tail. His paw got a bit better overnight and he could now walk a little bit. Just to be sure, Rarity still liked to carry him around on her back. She went out in the morning and bought a few baby bottles to put milk in. Rarity poured the warm milk into the bottle and put it in Spirit’s mouth. He gripped the bottle with his little paws as he drank. dribbles of milk ran down the side of his mouth, but Rarity wiped them off before they could fall off. Once he finished, he hopped off of Rarity and started scratching at the door.
“Oh that’s right! Fluttershy told me I should take you on a walk. You know what? Let’s just walk over to Fluttershy’s. What do you think?” Spirit did a bit of a spin. “I guess that means yes.”
