It had now been a few days since Spirit had been living with Rarity. His paw was pretty much totally healed and he was almost twice as energetic as before. Even with all the chaos, Rarity was still able to do her work without having to worry about Spirit. Somehow, he just knew that she was trying to focus and so he sat quietly by her side as she sewed and drew. Rarity’s mind races meanwhile. There’s something that has been scratching at the back of her mind for a while.

Something about what had happened a few nights ago didn’t exactly click for her. She had been a part of a somewhat traumatizing experience, but she hadn’t thought twice about it since. It was almost like she didn’t care. She still didn’t really care. What she did care about is keeping her new friend happy, which was surprising. Rarity had always preferred felines until now. Somehow, she felt a much deeper connection to this Wolf than she ever had with Opal. She stole a glance down at Spirit, who had been sitting by her side without making a commotion for about two hours now. Spirit had apparently also stolen a glance at the same time, because for a split second, her eyes locked with his. She looked back at the dress she was repairing and then dropped it onto the table.

“Come on Spirit, do you want to go on a walk?” Rarity asked, patting the top of Spirit’s head. Spirit jumped onto all fours and let out a happy yelp. Rarity took that as as ‘yes’ and walked out the door, the wolf following closely behind.

“Sweet Celestia! Will this snow ever stop?” Rarity asked to noony in particular while she tied her scarf around her neck. Spirit instantly leaped into nearest pile of snow. He practically disappeared for a second before popping back out and running between Rarity’s legs nearly causing her to trip.

“Calm down there, sweetie! Now, where should we go? Do you want to go to the Library?” Rarity asked the cub. He simply just stared back, so Rarity assumed that it was okay.

“Come now, Spirit. Let’s let you meet Twilight since she didn't quite see you last time.” And with that, the duo trekked their way through the snow and towards the library. There weren’t many ponies out and about in the snow, so there was no risk of freaking anypony out and having to explain that she now raises a wolf cub. After a few minutes of Spirit weaving through Rarity’s legs and eventually causing her to get a face full of snow, they finally reached the Library. Just stepping within ten meters of the tree gave you a warm feeling inside. Rarity knocked on the door and moments later was greeted by Twilight. Again, she totally missed the wolf cub hiding behind Rarity, smiled to greet her friend.

“Hello Rarity! Nice to see you! Come inside?” She asked, stepping aside.

“Why thank you dear.” She said as she stepped inside. Twilight started to close the door but stopped when she saw a wolf cub walk in behind Rarity. For a second, she didn’t react, but as soon as she realised what she saw wasn’t a hallucination, she whispered to Rarity.

“Rarity. Don’t make any sudden moves. There’s a wolf here and any sudden movement might scare it. I’m not sure what it might do when it’s scare-”

“Oh calm down Twilight.” Rarity interrupted. “That’s just Spirit.”

“S-Spirit?” She asked. “Wait. Is it your pet?” Twilight asked, turning her head to watch the small pup follow Rarity and then stand behind her like a small child.

“Pet? Oh heavens, no!” Rarity exclaimed, sitting down. Twilight cocked her head.

“So… It.-” Twilight started before getting interrupted again by Rarity.

“Spirit is a ‘he’ Twilight.

“...Right. HE is not your pet, but he follows you around…” Twilight’s eyes popped wide open. “Did he imprint on you?”

“Imprint? I just rescued him about a week ago and he’s been with me ever since. Fluttershy said that we’re a pack now.” Rarity stated. Twilight wasn’t exactly sure what to say.

“Well, uh. Rarity, I think… Spirit has imprinted on you. That means that he basically thinks you’re his mom. Rarity then snapped her head back towards Twilight.

“Excuse me, what?”

The stallion walked around Canterlot with a bandage wrapped around his head. He wasn’t exactly sure where to start his search, but had decided to start with the place where he was handed a flyer for the meeting. The only thing he remembered about that meeting was that it was for ponies who loved music, and it was just a club to meet up and make friends. How it turned out like it did didn’t exactly compute.

“Hey! Watch where you’re goin there buddy!” A mare yelled as he almost ran into her head on. He was far too busy trying to remember anything he could instead of trying to get to his destination. There it was. The pub that he was given the flyer. But wait… There was something wrong there. On one of the windows was a wanted poster with a drawing of himself on it.

“What the hay is goin on?” He said quietly to himself, as he ripped the poster off of the window. Skimming through the page, a single paragraph caught his eye.

May be in possession of narcotics and/or other hard drugs. He may also be in possession of a weapon. Do NOT approach this individual. He was last seen in Ponyville. If you have any information about this individual, report to the barracks as soon as possible

“WHAT!?” He wanted to scream, but decided to stay quiet. This couldn’t be happening. Narcotics? Weapon? What was going on? He had to figure out what happened. After stealing a quick glance to make sure that nopony saw him, he entered the pub and walked up to the bar.

“You got gumption to be out in public like this, hon.” A familiar voice said to him.

“Excuse me?” He looked up from the bar, and saw the bartender give him a beer. It took a second, but before he could say anything, she shushed him.

“You’re in hot water, buddy.” She said to him blankly, but then looked him straight in the eye. "But you don’t seem like the type that would do that sorta thing.”

“What? You’re not gonna turn me in?” He asked quietly.

“I’ve had my share of run-ins with the law. I’m no snitch. Besides, you look like you haven’t an idea about what’s happening. I know, I’ve seen it before.” She replied coolly. The stallion had finished his beer and put the empty glass back down. As the bartender took it, she said “They’re gonna be looking for you. You can stay at my place if you’d like.” He looked surprised for a second.

“Why would you help me?” He asked.

“It sounds cliche, but I have a good feeling about this. What’s your name dear?”

“Crimson Spark. Spark.”

“Midnight Luck, but you can call me Lucy.”

“Good to meet you.”

“Likewise, now if you don’t want to be seen, go downtown and hid under the bridge. Stay out of sight. I’ll come get you in an hour. Got it?” Spark paused for a second before answering.

“Got it.”

Author's Note

Woah! What? What's goin on here?

Don't you worry. There's still gonna be tons and tons of cute stuff, but I had thought of an ingenious way to carry the rest of the story last night and I'm just gonna go for it. I'm trying to have a good time writing, and I hope you all enjoy what I write.

Until the next chapter!
