Siege of Renadum

The city of Renadum, a literal city of brass sits in front of the Concreast Mountains. Renadum prospers from the abundance of metals within the mountains and the trade routes and alliances it has with the cities in its vicinity. its guards keep the populace safe and away from harm while the large brass tower sat in the middle of the city its buttresses supporting the tower at its base and offering support for airship landings at the tower's height, the tower inhabitants were researching ways to make life easier and better, but also training the new initiates to become the best of the best in military might. As the sun rose in its timely fashion the city would glow back its all of its bronze-colored glory, but today the denizens of the city slept in, unknowing that the sun had already risen.

Conrad Grimminglang woke up inside the brass tower's training quarters, he set himself to doing the ritual he does every morning, get up, wash his face, take note of his coal-stained hair and get dressed in his officer's uniform, a set of leather clothes that include, boots, dress shirt, leather jacket with its bright Brass Tower Order insignia, and hard leather trousers. It was a uniform that was dependable, it protected most of the body from steam burns, heat, bullets, spells, and all other kinda of things that would cause bodily harm. Conrad would usually trudge/limp to his morning class like the rest of the trainees. Today however, the hallways was deserted even the brass knights, who wore metallic armor that was made up of overlapping plates, were not standing guard at the doors, maybe I overslept Conrad thought, but he quickly took note of the rest of his surroundings, the overhead heat-lights were off, the hallways was bathed in a dim glow. he quickly wandered his way through the metal structure, the tower giving no signs of life other than the occasional sounds of running that echoed throughout the building. This is weird, the tower has never been this silent he thought as he made his way through the arches leading to the officer-training center, the center had been empty as the rest of the tower he wandered through, everything was in place, other than the absence of life. Conrad was getting anxious now, the silence was oppressive and he was sure that he needed to see something else other than the brass walls of the hallways, and he knew where he could find it. Making his way quickly to the workshops at the top of the tower he ascended the stairs as fast as he could as if to escape the silence that seemed to blanket the metal building. Bursting through the doors that led into the workshops he quickly wrenched open the windows that gave him a view of the city.

It was not a pretty sight above the city were large black airships with lines extending from their hulls. the normal black smoke that poured from the industrial section of the city was absent and red smoke seemed to flow from the streets below. Quickly Conrad tried to assess the situation, colored flares were fired to tell the situation that the squad were in, red smoke was never good it usually meant a squad of soldiers or Order Knights were taking heavy losses or completely wiped out, green was good, yellow was mellow, and red was dead. He noticed a few green tufts of smoke flowing into the air and multiple pulses of color emitting from various sections of the city. There was a battle afoot and it was clearly not in the favor of the city, if the red smoke that premeditated the air indicated.
