Common Cannons: Before anything can be said about Lyra it should be known that most, if not all of her background comes from one scene that is not even a second long. All it shows is Lyra and Bon Bon sitting on a park bench, Bon Bon sitting normally while Lyra was sitting with her back on the benches back... like a human would. It was from this point on that Lyra was considered a fanatic of something (almost always humans), as well as in her relationship with Bon Bon. This relationship can range anywhere from best friends, to roommates, to actually dating or married. It is also often joked about in stories where the two are not dating, that everyone thinks they are. As said before Lyra is almost always written as some sort of fanatic, and it usually about humans (hands in particular), but there are cases where she is obsessed in other things. I have found more than a few stories where Lyra is an inventor, or is an accomplished magical dueler.
Lyra's past is a bit more varied than her current situation, the most popular being that she was born in Canterlot and graduated Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns with a Major in music and a Minor in anthropology (or the Equestrian equivalent) or vice versa. Then moved to Ponyville where she now lives with Bon Bon, and is the unofficial taste tester for her new candy ideas.
