“Heel Sombra!” Twilight yells to the returned king. “Your days of reckoning have come to an end!”
Sombra looks at her with a wicked grin and says, “Oh, but they are only beginning.”
“That’s just fine by me!” She unsheathes her sword swings. Dammit. She missed, though only just. She swings again and hits him, but the dark king is unaffected.
“You bore me, why don’t you go suffer.” He swings a hoof forward. At first, nothing happens. It seems as if Sombra’s magic has done nothing. However, Sombra knows better. He needs to distract the lavender Alicorn before he can unleash the magic.
“What game are you playing at, Sombra?” Twilight says, finally managing to pull the sword out of her opponent’s chest.
“No, not a game, but a reality.” He brings a scythe, seemingly out of nowhere, and swings. He only makes a small cut, but even being poked by the weapon can burn like a flame. Now imagine what a cut can do. Twilight screams in pain as she grabs the wound. Her face immediately swells. The king laughs and says, “What’s wrong, can’t take the loss?”
“Loss?” Twilight was confused. Still feeling her pain, she starts to see the darkened room… The throne room? She was even more confused. The only way he could stay here without being destroyed was… “No.” Twilight says as realization comes. “That means…”
“Come now, is Celestia really that important to you?” He knew the answer, but he needed her anger, he needed her to feel strength.
Tears start to come out as she says, “No… you… you… monster!” She charges him.
“Now!” Black tendrils appear and grab her. Twilight struggles, but to no avail as the grip gets stronger. “Tell me, how does it feel to be trapped?”
“What do you want, Sombra?”
“Nothing, just your abilities.” Twilight screams in pain as the tendrils start to suck the power, both internal and external, out and into Sombra. “Yes, power… so much power!” He starts to grow until he’s double his original size. “Dispose of her.”
“No, please, I’ll do anything.”
“Goodbye my little pony.” Before Twilight can say anything, she is thrown out through one of the many stained glass windows. She only gets a quick glimpse of it, but she can see the window being that of when Sombra was previously defeated.
She couldn’t fly without her power. Even if she hadn’t been sucked dry, her wings would be too cut up from the window shards. “I’m sorry Celestia, my friends, me.” The world around her seems to slow down as her life flashes before her. Shining Armor and her playing together as kids, the first time she met Cadence, her leaving for Ponyville, her first day at Ponyville, everything was there. She was about to cry when…
“Remember, Twilight, that only the brightest of lights can defeat true darkness.” Celestia’s voice rings in her head. She then remembers the light crystal. She still has a chance, if she can just get that crystal. She flips around as she looks up at the fall. She was unsure of how she survived, but one thing was for sure. She had to leave, retreat. That way, she would be ready for the final battle.
