A serial killer, known simply a Gustave, is on the loose in Zebrica. Some say he has taken the lives of 300 ponies living in the area. What is makes this one so terrifying is the fact Gustave is a salt water crocodile. My name is Hunter Joe. I'm a Light brown earth pony stallion with a darker brown mane and tail. My cutie mark is a hunter's trap. I’m here to locate and capture Gustave. However, I have a feeling things may not go as planned.
I start my journey knowing a few things about Gustave such as the fact he is the largest crocodile in Zebrica, possibly the world, measuring over 20 feet long and weighs over a ton. I also know ten years ago an attempt to capture Gustave was made and of course failed. They failed because they used a cage and Gustave is too clever. I plan on using other methods of capture. There was even a time when they had called in a group of unicorns to get the damn monster out and well let's just say you won't be seeing those unicorns again.
I arrive at a village near where the first death occurred I saw what I was expecting. They were Zebras, a species that look very similar to earth ponies except they have black and white stripes. Knowing the local language, I go up to a group of villagers and ask a single question, “Who wants to help me capture Gustave?” There is chill in air under the sun like a fire becoming cold as ice. This is understandable; this giant croc has been terrorizing them for decades. After a long silence one of the locals, a young stallion, replies bravely “I will help you.” Soon every member of the village except a few including the women, children, and elders agree to lend aid in my effort. Now my mission truly begins.
I start the first phase of my mission: locating the leviathan. I’ll do this my using a toy helicopter I had bought back in the Equestria. What makes it useful is it has a video camera, which I had modified into infra-red camera, attached to it. I use it to scan the river for Gustave so even if he is hidden I can find him. After hours of searching, I see something. A large crocodile shaped figure it’s Gustave. Upon seeing this I yell, “I have found the beast!”
Using the GPS I previously attach to the helicopter, I rush to the area where Gustave is located. Once there I see him for the first time ever. When I saw him I thought “Wow, parents who comfort their kids by saying there is no such thing as monsters have never met Gustave.” However this is no time to turn chicken. It’s time for Phase Two.
I have a helicopter pilot I had previously hired hover a hippo corpse over the demon. The hope is that Gustave will reach up for a bite. After a long wait he finally reaches for the bait. At that moment, I toss a lasso at Gustave and it hits its target. The rope is around the creature’s neck. Some would this is cruel but Gustave is practically a dinosaur I think he can handle it.
In fact, Gustave can more than handle it for he is a giant, what he lacks in speed, he more than makes up for it with incomprehensible strength. I had foreseen this so I made sure the rope was made out the strongest material I could find. I had also the other end of the rope tied to the back of a Jeep. I quickly race up the wheel and start the vehicle. We both a mighty tug-a-war with stakes high as the sky and only one of us can win.
As expected, Gustave puts up a fight and starts dragging me back. I don’t want to lose so I push on the gas as hard as I can. I start going forward and just as my victory was about to be reached I hear a troubling noise. The engine had failed. A week later, a news reporter states, “Another victim has fallen prey to Gustave."
