Twilight Sparkle lifted an ear, perking it quietly, and listening to the sound of the empty library. Three hours. It had been three hours since her explosive argument with Trixie. Well, six hours, forty six minutes, fifty five seconds to be exact, but who was counting. They had yelled at each other. A lot. Far more then usual, and it was just...it was stupid. It was all just so stupid.
The little unicorn sighed and shut the heavy tome she'd been reading for most of the say. Early afternoon, Trixie had barreled into the library, demanding Twilight watch her new trick. The excited mare was almost beside herself with her magical aptitude, but Twilight had asked her (nicely, in fact) to please let her study in peace. Celestia had a rather extensive meeting planned for one of her School's for Gifted Unicorns. A meeting she'd asked Twilight to accompany her on. Whatever little silly magic trick Trixie wanted to preform for her could wait.
It was a long time coming, really. The argument that followed. Twilight was stressed as it was, so Trixie demanding her time wasn't helping matters. The screamed at each other. Twilight had said something to the effect of how her work was important. More important that Trixie's silly magic show. It was a meeting for the princess after all. Twilight hadn't meant it to come out the way it did; the way she said it. True, her studying was important, but maybe not more important that Trixie's work. Trixie had replied that she could easily find somepony who appreciated her talents talents elsewhere. Twilight had shot back that not everything was about being on stage and the stupid stage persona she always had on was getting on her nerves. Trixie had said Twilight got on her nerves and... and...it didn't matter. None of it matter. The purple mage groaned and shook her head. It was a stupid fight and stupid things were said.
A stupid fight that had been hours ago. Back when there was still daylight. When Twilight had expected Trixie to come home after their argument and they could suss out tender feelings, and heal hate with heart. But Trixie had stormed out the front door, and that was the last Twilight had seen of her.
And now it was getting late.
With the sun slowly starting to set, and the library as empty as her heart, Twilight began to get ready for bed. Surely, Trixie would come home soon. Any minute now, really. She'd come barreling in through the door, shouting something about how she had fame and fortune, and she defeated a mermaid or something. Twilight chuckled to herself, and noticed, quietly, instead of climbing into bed, she had taken a seat near the upstairs window. The one that over looked the front walk to the library. Ponyville was a really lovely town. The gorgeous sunset cast the town in a fantastic light, all which escaped Twilight Sparkle, as she peered down the walk way towards her home. Any minute now...
Twilight groaned, sitting upright on the stool with a jolt. Someone had slammed the downstairs door. Immediately, she was up onto her hooves, racing down the staircase, and was greeted with a smiling blue mage, who wrapped her arms lovingly around Twilight's frame.
"Ahh, Hey Trixi-" she began before Trixie cut her off, walking right by her with a bright, glassy smile.
"Good morning Twilight!" Trixie exclaimed brightly, trotting into the kitchen with a spring in her step, her cape fluttering out behind her as she went.
"Um...Good morning." Twilight sputtered quietly. She was right. It was morning. Eight on the dot, to be exact. Had Twilight been sleeping on that stool all night? Had Trixie been out all night? Slowly, Twilight followed into the kitchen, Where Trixie was hard at work preparing breakfast. Waffles, but the look of things.
"Uh...Hey, about yesterday..." Twilight stammered, and froze when Trixie turned around sharply on her hooves, and wrapped her arms around Twilight's shoulders.
"Listen! I was wrong. I shouldn't have tried to impose my magic act on you. Other ponies time is important as my own, and I simply needed to wait. Not my strong suit, but something I'm going to be working on in the future! Now, would you like some toast with your breakfast? Orange juice? Apple juice? Milk?" She asked cheerfully. Twilight frowned, raising an eyebrow slowly.
"Are...You okay? You aren't normally so...I don't know, upbeat after a fight. And since when do you use proper pronouns? Are you a changeling? You can tell me if you are." Twilight explained, as Trixie shuffled her towards the table.
"No silly filly! I'm fine! I've stopped talking like that since you told me it annoys you! It is incredibly important to me that you be happy! You are my mare friend, and that is ALL that I want for us! " She squeaked in a sing-song voice, hopping around the kitchen like Pinkie Pie as she made breakfast. Twilight slowly nodded her head.
"Okay. Alright. I get it. You feel bad about last night. I do too, and...um...okay." Twilight smiled sheepishly. Rarely did a solution to a problem land directly into her lap with Trixie, and rarely did it have such a happy outcome. Normally they'd end up having the craziest arguments only to end up rolling around on the floor no longer having said argument. This...this was a new a welcome change. Slowly Twilight smiled.
"Orange juice, please." She said. Trixie gave a giggle and bounced towards the fridge.
"Coming right up, Twilight!" Trixie squeaked happily, bouncing from the fridge to the cupboard where she grabbed a glass. Twilight nodded her head. A welcome change indeed...
