The Sparkle of Twilight
Five human years in the future, your little ponies reunite to share the magic of their friendship with all of Equestria. Most have experienced great success, from the expansion of Applejack’s family to Pinkie Pie’s traveling children’s show, but something smells rotten in Equestria. Spike has grown to a teenager, and these awkward years foster not only angst but his selfish instincts as a dragon. Rainbow Dash may not be too enthused about resigning as a Wonderbolt, and what’s up with Apple Bloom’s new boyfriend? Is he a sweetheart or a bully in disguise?
Most distressing to Twilight Sparkle, the Mane Six haven’t been together to conjure a rainbow to unite Equestria in the bonds of friendship. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna have felt a chill in the air for some time now, and certain signs have pointed toward the fulfillment of a prophecy foretold in an ancient text. Rumors have spread about an army amassing in the South, a group of Earth Ponies who believe they’re superior to anypony else.
Looking to crack the Elements of Harmony, the leader of this group of Earth Ponies, Brimstone, sends a spy to Ponyville. Appealing to Spike’s greed and dissonance with his friends, the spy leads Spike down a path of evil where one’s own desires are valued over contributing an element to a greater whole. Brimstone’s persuasion toward this line of thinking seems more powerful than any magic.
After an epic chase scene involving the Cutie Mark Crusaders, the Mane Six realize Brimstone’s threat cannot be ignored. First they must infiltrate Brimstone’s fortress to find Spike, and then rescue him and the Earth Ponies from their own selfishness. Everything the Book of Prophesies foretold has come to pass so far, but is Brimstone’s interpretation of the text the correct one?
In order to save Equestria, Twilight Sparkle and her friends must share their spirits, but Princess Celestia warns them it will come with a heavy price. It’s time for she and her sister to leave Equestria forever, and one pony must make the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of her friend. Without them, can the Magic of Friendship survive, let alone prevail?
The Sparkle of Twilight takes the beloved series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to a logical and invigorating conclusion, while at the same time teaching the lesson that the spirit of a beautiful heart can never die.
