Prologue: In a world full of ponies, much like a land known as Equestria, many races of pony, and other creatures existed; This land was far from a copy of the happy go lucky world, this world was known as Mustango. The land was coated in despair, blood, and poverty, many of it's residents committed crimes, some to survive; others to inflict fear. There was a legend, of a band of ponies who came together and brought the world peace, defeating the evil demons known as End-bringers. This world had lasted for a long fifty years after those heroes of old slew down the leader Red Shadow, yet it seems that the mare has returned once more.
In a small village, those very demonic ponies brought chaos and fire, leaving a very young filly to fend for herself. She was just a small brown pegasus, with a short baby blue mane, her name is Alkira. Soon after a week had past, the filly collapsed outside a small wooden shack in the mountains, a mare with soft blue and red coat walked over. "Poor thing." She stated yet had a scar on her muzzle as she gently picked up the small pegasus. Alkira awoke to the smell of fresh vegetable stew, her soft silver eyes darting around trying to find the smell's source. "Ah you're awake." The mare who had helped her smiled, before placing a bowl of soup down for Alkira. "Careful now, it's hot."
Alkira's mouth watered seeing the food, she swallowed a lump in her throat before carefully digging into the hot soup with a spoon smiling at the taste and warmth she felt from it. "Thank you." She stated but felt her mane get stroked by the pegasus mare who helped her. Her hoof, it feels so nice... Alkira closed her eyes letting the pegasus mare stroke her mane before being engulfed by those strong hooves. Alkira nuzzled deep into the soft black mane that was the mare's. "You've been through hell and back, haven't cha?" She stated softly, her voice sweet like honey. Alkira only nodded softly enjoying the mystery mare's warmth. "Well kid... I'm Rahjira. I'm a bounty hunter." Alkira heard the mare say, yet was released from those hooves. "Now eat up young one ok?" She smiled with her soft silver eyes at the little brown filly.
For the first time Alkira felt the warmth of a parent, Rahjira was the kindest pony she'd ever met, yet she tugged on the mare's tail. "Huh?" Rahjira looked at the filly confused. "Teach me to be strong like you!" Alkira burst out her chest puffed up trying to look strong. Rahjira only laughed. "What's so funny?!" "Nothing kiddo, but are you sure you want to be like me?" Rahjira waited for Alkira's answer.
Alkira closed her eyes then opened them again showing her determined stare. "Yes." Was her answer. Rahjira knew she couldn't quell that flame, and nodded. "Alright I'm gunna train you, don't slack off!" "Yes ma'am!"
The days went on as Rahjira smiled at the small pegasus who seemed excel expectations, but slowly over time Rahjira became like a mother figure to Alkira as well. Soon just like a few years ago, those same demonic ponies attacked a nearby village while Rahjira had ventured into it. She growled taking out a beautiful sword into her mouth and charged slaying a demon pony. These are just weakling grunts! Rahjira scoffed at the thought seeing the monster's bodies. The grunts of the demons looked more like skeletal beasts with their thick brownish red coats covering their hooves, body, and neck, exposing a disgusting sight which was their no skinned faces with fangs. Rahjira quickly made due with those grunts, but was struck in the shoulder. A crimson red hue stained the pegasus' blue part of her mixed color fur, as Rahjira winced but was head butted into a tree breaking a wing. "GAH!" She let out a yelp as her body fell with a thud onto the ground.
Pegasi weren't known to be as powerful as an earth pony since their light frames made it easier for flight, Rahjira tried getting to her feet, but noticed her sword laid inches away from her, she soon cursed under her breath. Unable to move due to the pain in her wing, Rahjira growled but her silver eyes widen seeing a small brown blur. "Get away from her!" Alkira's voice rang in the mare's ears as she saw the filly picked up the sword. "You're not ready yet, please run Alkira!" Rahjira pleaded, yet saw a spark appear on Alkira's flank, her cutie mark! Alkira charged and took down the attacking grunt getting it's neck as the demon roared before falling dead, it's neck sliced wide open.
Rahjira's eyes widen at the brave pegasus filly's selfless act. Alkira was ready, this was certain for the older pegasus. The townsfolk were spared thanks to Rahjira's effort as well as Alkira's, they even did so much as to tend to Rahjira's injuries for her. With a nod as thanks the two pegasi left, yet Rahjira stopped mid way to their hut. "Alkira." Her voice was serious as the brown filly stopped. "Do you want to learn how to fly?" Rahjira asked with a softer tone, planting a gently kiss on the stunned brown filly's head.
"Y-Yeah!" Alkira smiled happily, yet then noticed her cutiemark, a shield with twin swords behind it. "Wh-When did I get this?!" She was astound at the sight. "You earned it saving me kiddo, that is why I believe you're ready to take the next step." Rahjira smiled but her chest was nuzzled by the little filly in front of her.
From that day on, Alkira trained with Rahjira, the two pegasi formed a powerful bond of friendship and family, one that would soon be broken, but that my friends is for another tale.
