Chapters My name is Angel Wings. I’m a ten year old pony who lives in Ponyville. I am a sea green colored pegasus with a pink and white mane. I don’t have my cutie mark, but I don’t care much about that. I currently go to Ponyville Elementary and in fourth grade. My best friend is named Silver Spoon, and I have known her since kindergarden. She doesn’t have her cutie mark either. The only thing is, we’re not in the same class this year. We were upset about that at first, but we’re used to it now. We have three other friends that we are pretty good friends with. Their names are Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo. Those three are all in my class. We met Apple Bloom in first grade when we had a First Grade Apple Fair in which her family volunteered. We met Scootaloo last year in third grade. And we met Sweetie Belle this year. They are nice to me but, they don’t feel comfortable near Silver Spoon for some reason. I couldn’t see why. Right now Silver Spoon and I are walking around the playground for lunch.
“So how was class for you,” Silver Spoon asked me.
“It was okay I guess. We changed seats and I have to sit next to the most annoying kid in class,” I told her.
“Is it Snips?”
“No. It’s Snails. He just doesn’t know how to shut up!”
“Ah. I see.”
“What did you do?”
“We talked about our environment projects.”
“Oh we’re doing that too in my class,” I said.
“Oh cool. There was something else we talked about in class but I can’t remember,” Silver Spoon said tapping her glasses, “Oh yes that’s it!”
“What’s it,” I asked.
“My teacher told us we are getting a new student tomorrow, and I get to show her around. By that I mean she has to hang out with us,” Silver Spoon said annoyed.
“Oh come on Spoon it can’t be that bad. She might turn out better than we think.”
“I know. It’s just it has always been us two since kindergarden.”
“I know, but just because she has to hang out with us doesn’t mean she’s gonna hang out with us the rest the year.”
“True.” The school bell rang telling all the students that it was time to go inside.
“Bye Spoon! See you later,” I yelled as I ran to my class.
“Bye Wings,” she yelled back.
I walked into my class and sat down in my seat as Ms. Cheerilee started talking.
“Okay class, for our next activity I need you to get in a group of four,” she said. After she said that the entire class got out of their seats and got to their friends.
“Hey Angel Wings,” yelled a voice. “Do you wanna work with us?” I turned around and standing there were Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo. “You want to be in our group for the activity,” asked Sweetie Belle.
“Sure,” I said happy to be part of the group.
“Okay class, we will make posters about the states of matter. Remember they are Solid, Liquid, and Gas. Now get started,” Ms. Cheerilee said. My group separated to get our supplies then came back together.
“I’m so glad you guys asked me to be part of your group. I don’t know what group I would’ve gone to if you guys haven’t asked,” I told them.
“Don’t worry about it,” said Apple Bloom.
“Yeah. We wouldn’t have chosen anyone else to be part of our group,” said Scootaloo. My group then started working on the poster. I don’t think they noticed me noticing, but they were sending little signal to each other then nodded.
“So,” Sweetie Belle started. “Out of all the ponies in the fourth grade, we think you are the nicest pony.”
“Really,” I asked.
“Totally. No one has more kindness than you. Well maybe Fluttershy,” said Scootaloo.
“So we want you to become a Cutie Mark Crusader with us and hang out with us,” said Apple Bloom.
“Aw thanks guys, but I just can’t leave Silver Spoon. We’ve been friends since forever. It has always been the two of us. Don’t get me wrong, you three are wonderful fillies. If something were to happen between Silver Spoon and I, I would come to you guys. I mean I already hang out with you guys on days that Silver Spoon is absent,” I told them. The three of them looked at each other again and nodded.
“We understand,” said Apple Bloom.
“Yeah. I guess it’s true that nothing can break apart a long lasting friendship,” said Scootaloo.
“We wouldn’t want to break apart goods friends like you and Silver Spoon. Just remember, we’re always here for you,” said Sweetie Belle.
“Thanks guys.” After that conversation we continued working.
“If you don’t mind me asking,” said Sweetie Belle. “How did you and Silver Spoon meet?”
“We were in the same kindergarden class. We were partnered up together for something and I guess we became best friends after that,” I said.
‘How many years have you guys been in the same class,” asked Apple Bloom.
“We in the same class for kindergarden, first grade, and third grade.”
“Cool,” said Scootaloo.
“How’d you three meet,” I asked them.
“Well,” started Sweetie Belle. “Apple Bloom and I were in Filly Scouts together.”
“And Scootaloo and I were in the same class last year,” said Apple Bloom.
“And when Sweetie Belle came, Apple Bloom introduced me to her and now we’re where we are now,” said Scootaloo.
“Sweet,” I said.
“Alright class, it’s time to pack up,” yelled Ms. Cheerilee. The entire class got up from their projects and packed their bags. Once the dismissal bell rang, the entire school got out.
“Wings,” yelled Silver Spoon.
“Hey Spoon what’s up.”
“So I found out what the new student’s name is.”
“Really! What is it.”
“Her name is Diamond Tiara.”
After Silver Spoon said that, I heard a little gasp. I turned around and standing their were the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Sweetie Belle’s eyes were a little big, so I assumed the gasp came from her.
“You okay Sweetie Belle,” asked Silver Spoon.
“Y..Yeah,” she said. “C..Come on girls. Let’s go.” The girls ran off to one of the lunch tables.
“Well, I gotta go now. See ya tomorrow Wings.”
“Bye Spoon,” I yelled back at her as she ran to the parent pick up. I walked towards the CMC to see what Sweetie was thinking.
“Hey guys. What happened back there Sweetie,” I asked.
“Oh nothing. I just think I’ve heard the name Diamond Tiara before. I don’t remember where. Maybe it was at my old school I don’t know.”
“Okay,” I said a bit weirded out. “I gotta go. Bye girls.”
“Why are you going towards the first and second grade classes,” asked Scootaloo.
“Because my younger brother is in second grade.” I walked towards the younger ponies' classrooms and standing by my brother’s classroom were my dad and brother. My dad is a unicorn, and my brother is an eight year old unicorn named GameBoy. (before you ask my mom is pegasus so that’s where I get my wings from.)
“Hey Angel Wings,” said my dad.
“Hi Daddy,” I said back.
“How was your day?”
It was pretty good.”
“Are you sure it was a good day,” said GameBoy.
“Yes I’m sure. Now stop poking my wings.”
“Fine.
"Dad can I ask you a question?”
“Sure. You can ask me anything sweetie.”
“Do you think ponies can know things about other ponies that you don’t know?”
“Some ponies do know things about other ponies you may not know. Why?”
“Oh no reason.”
“Are you sure there’s no reason,” asked GameBoy.
“Yes I’m sure. Now stop it,” I yelled as he pulled his hoof away from me. As we walked home, I thought about Diamond Tiara. Could there be something about this Diamond Tiara filly I should know?
The next day I woke up like I did any morning. I remembered that today was the day I would meet that filly Diamond Tiara. I didn’t know what to expect. Is she going to be nice? Will she like me for who I am. I was just going to face the day like I always do. Once I got to school I went to go looking for Silver Spoon, but I couldn’t find her. I soon spotted the CMC, so I went to go ask them if they knew where Silver Spoon.
“Hey guys.”
“Oh hi Angel Wings,” said Scootaloo.
“Have you guys seen Silver Spoon?”
“Sorry no,” said Sweetie Belle.
“Actually I think she’s in her teacher’s classroom with the new student Diamond Tiara,” said Apple Bloom. A shiver went down Sweetie Belle’s spine as Apple bloom said that name.
“Oh okay.” I walked over to Silver Spoon’s classroom and looked through the window. Silver Spoon was in there, She was talking to a pink pony with a purple and white mane. I figured it was Diamond Tiara because she in fact had a diamond tiara on her head. She also had her cutie mark which was the same diamond tiara that was on her head. It looked like the two were getting along pretty well. I was going to go in, but the the bell rang before I could. I had to run all the way back to the area where the classes lined up. I got to my line and went behind the CMC.
“Was Silver Spoon in there,” asked Apple Bloom.
“Yep. Along with Diamond Tiara,” I told her.
“Just out of curiosity, did she have her cutie mark and if she did what is it,” asked Sweetie Belle.
“She did have her cutie mark. It was a diamond tiara. Funny enough it matched the one that was on her head and her name.”
“Hm. Interesting,” Sweetie Belle replied.
“Do you know something I don’t know,” I asked her.
“What?! NO! I don’t know anything about that filly.”
“Well okay then.” The line started moving, and as we walked towards our classrooom I overheard Scootaloo talking to Sweetie Belle.
“Sweetie Belle, It sounds like you know something about this Diamond Tiara. Do you want to tell Apple Bloom and I something,” asked Scootaloo.
“I’ll...I’ll tell you guys later.” Scootaloo nodded to Sweetie Belle’s response. About two hours of agonizing long division equations, it was finally time for snack time. I went outside and spotted Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara.
“Hey Spoon.”
“Hi Wings,” she said turning to Diamond Tiara. “Diamond Tiara, I want you to meet my best friend, Angel Wings,” Silver Spoon said as I waved “hello”.
“Hi Angel Wings, It is nice to meet you,” Diamond Tiara said.
“So how do you like Ponyville Elementary,” I asked her trying to get to know her.
“It’s a little different than my old school Ponyville Schoolhouse but it’ll do,” she said in a really annoying way.
“How is it different,” I asked.
“It’s not that much different. Other than the this is a public school and Ponyville Schoolhouse is a private school. And some of the other ponies look a bit, fancier,” she said as she scanned me up and down. I started to feel a little uncomfortable around this filly.
“Did you know that Diamond Tiara’s dad owns Barnyard Bargains,” said Silver Spoon excitedly.
“Um no I did not. Don’t know if I needed to know that.”
“Excuse me what was that,” asked Diamond Tiara.
“Oh nothing important,” I said trying to make a good impression.
“Yep. My daddy owns Barnyard Bargains and has a lot of money and has partnerships with like a ton of businesses,” said Diamond Tiara. “He even has a partnership with the near by Sweet Apple Acres for their Zap Apple Jam.”
“Sweet Apple Acres? You mean where Apple Bloom lives,” asked Diamond Tiara.
“Apple Bloom? Who’s that?”
“Apple Bloom. She’s over there and in Angel Wing’s class. She lives at Sweet Apple Acres,” Silver Spoon pointing at Apple Bloom.
“Ah. I see,” said Diamond Tiara. “Wait a minute...”
“What is it,” I asked her.
“Is that filly over there by Apple Bloom and the orange pegasus named Sweetie Belle by any chance,” she asked.
“Yes. Her name is Sweetie Belle. She is also in Angel Wing’s class,” Said Silver Spoon.
“Do you know her by any chance,” I asked.
“in fact I do. I met her at-” She was cut off by the bell telling the students to come back to class. “Oh it looks like it’s time to go back to class. Let’s go Silver Spoon.”
“Oh um okay. Bye Wings. See you at lunch,” Silver Spoon said as she went to her class.
“Bye Spoon.” I walked to my classroom and started thinking about what just happened. Diamond Tiara has quite the attitude, and Silver Spoon seemed to be really interested in Diamond Tiara. I got down to my seat and started working on my vocabulary worksheets. I’m actually happy that Scootaloo sits at my table so I don’t have to totally suffer with Snail’s talking.
“Hey Angel Wings what’s up,” said Scootaloo.
“Oh nothing.”
“So you met that new girl Diamond Tiara.”
“Yeah. She was a little....off.”
“How off?”
“I don’t know. Just really...she’s so....her attitude is not the nicest I should say.”
“Hm. I see.” As we continued talking, Apple Bloom walked by.
“Hey y’all. What are you guys talking about,” Apple Bloom asked.
“We’re talking about that new girl Diamond Tiara and how a little off she is,” said Scootaloo.
“Oh really. Well tell me something about her.”
“Her dad apparently owns Barnyard Bargains,” I told Apple Bloom.
“Wait. Barnyard Bargains. I think I may know her dad,” she said.
“Really? How,” asked Scootaloo.
“One of his best products are our Zap Apple Jam. Her dad’s name is Filthy Rich. He comes by every year to make sure with Granny that he gets the first hundred jars.” After Apple Bloom said that, Scootaloo started laughing.
“Hey Scoots why are ya laughing,” asked Apple Bloom.”
“Filthy Rich,” she said all chuckling away.
“Ya know his names just means really rich.”
“I know.”
“There’s just something I don’t like about that filly, and I’m going to find out,” I told the two of them.
“How are you going to do that,” asked Scootaloo.
“I have no idea.”
“Alright class,” yelled Ms. Cheerilee. “It’s time to go out for lunch.” I grabbed my lunch from my saddlebag and went outside. I ran towards the No-Peanut table, and Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara were already sitting there. Did I forget to mention that Silver Spoon is allergic to peanuts? Well know you know.
“Hey girls,” I said.
“Why hello Angel Wings,” said Diamond Tiara in a snooty way.
“Well hello to you too,” I said a little annoyed. “What are you two talking about?”
“Nothing really,” said Diamond Tiara. “So, do you to plan on getting your cutie marks?”
“Well, not at the moment,” said Silver Spoon. “We aren’t the kind of ponies who want to rush our cutie marks. We just let it happen.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” I added. “It’s just a cutie mark. We’ll find it someday, but since we don’t have it, it must mean now’s not the time.”
“Well, when you two do get your cutie marks, you should have a cutceañera,”
“Cutceañera? What’s that,” I asked.
“A cutceañera is a party that celebrates your new cutie mark and how special you are,” said Diamond Tiara.
“Oh.”
“That sounds nice,” said Silver Spoon.
“You guys should get it soon. Don’t you want to be special,” asked Diamond Tiara.
“Are you saying that without our cutie marks we’re not special,” asked Silver Spoon.
“Well of course, but since you guys are my friends you’re special.”
“Because we’re your friends,” I asked.
“Duh.”
I started to feel really uncomfortable with this girl. She didn’t seem that nice. She basically called us not special, but since we’re her “friends” we’re special. Diamond Tiara thinks she can say whatever she wants and get away with it. I don’t like it, but I’m afraid to stop it. How do you get someone like her to stop what she’s doing or saying? After we ate lunch, we headed off to the playground area.
“I’m so glad you guys are my friends,” said Diamond Tiara.
“We’re glad that you’re our friend too,” said Silver Spoon.
“Yeah. Great,” I said.
“Now that you guys are my friends, I can invite you guys to a lot of things.”
“A lot of things? Like what,” asked Silver Spoon.
“Oh nothing special. I can invite you guys to things like family vacations, big parties, and even shopping sprees.”
“Wow that’s so cool!”
“Yeah. That’s quite nice of you,” I said. Even though she had said that, I still didn’t like her. Should I be judging her the day I met her? No, I shouldn’t. I should give her a chance at least. It was at that moment I remembered something.
“Hey, um, Diamond Tiara?”
“Yeah?”
“You said you met Sweetie Belle before. Where’d you two meet?”
“Oh. That girl. I met her at-” Once again she was cut off by the bell.
“Oh time to go back to class,” Diamond Tiara said.
“STUPID BELL,” I yelled to myself.
When I got to my desk, I thought more about Diamond Tiara. What is up with her. Why is Silver Spoon giving her so much attention?
“You okay Angel Wings,” asked Scootaloo.
“Um. I-I’m fine.”
“You sure.”
“Yep. I’m totally fine,” I said putting a smile on my face.
“you don’t look fine.”
“I assure you I’m fine.”
“Did Diamond Tiara say something you didn’t like?”
“No I-I just...” I stopped talking because I realized I had lied.
“She did didn’t she,” asked Scootaloo. I nodded in response. “What did she say?”
“She basically said that since Silver and I don’t have our cutie marks we’re not special, but since we’re her “friends” we are special. Even though I don’t have a cutie mark, I still think I’m special. I don’t want to be known as special just because I’m somepony’s friend.”
“Oh I see.”
“I don’t know what to do. I wish there was some way to make her, I don’t know, nicer.”
“I see what you mean,” said Sweetie Belle walking towards us. “It’s hard being around somepony like that.”
“Sweetie Belle I-”
“Oh look! Miss Cheerilee looks like she could use some help. I’m...uh...you know....go help her. Bye!”
“Well that was weird,” I said. “Do you know why Sweetie Belle gets a little weird when we talk about Diamond Tiara,” I asked Scootaloo.
“Well I-”
“Hey Scootaloo,” yelled Apple Bloom. “Why don’t you come over here and help me with something.”
“Why do they all act weird when I talk about Diamond Tiara!” I knew they knew something. I mean, Diamond Tiara said she knew Sweetie Belle from somewhere.
Later that night, I was laying on my bed thinking about Diamond Tiara. I just didn’t know what to do. Silver Spoon was so interested in her. I don’t even know if she realizes I’m there.
“Hey sweetie,” said my mom, “How was school today?”
“Fine I guess,” I said.
“You okay?”
“I guess.”
“What’s the matter sweetheart?”
“There’s this new girl in Silver Spoon’s class. Her name is Diamond Tiara. She-Well, her attitude isn’t the best.”
“I see.”
“And Silver Spoon is so interested in her. I feel like she’s not even paying attention to me.”
“Anything else?”
“Well, Sweetie Belle seems like she used to know Diamond Tiara, and Diamond Tiara said she knew Sweetie Belle.”
“Well sweetheart. You just do what you think is right.”
“Well what is right?”
“I said what you think is right, not what I think is right.” Mom then tucked me into bed, and kissed me on the forehead.
“Night night mommy,” I said as I laid down.
“Good night sweetheart. Sleep tight.”
As I drifted off to sleep, I had one thing in mind. “What is right?”
