Celestia looked on as her troops marched forward to battle the oncoming dragons which threatened to destroy Equestria. She had painted on her face a look of pure melancholy, as she knew that those soldier would be up against an enemy most of them would fall to. She flew alongside with them and readied her horn with magic, hoping she could use any type of spell she could to benefit her army.
She set the sun, leaving it down, along with leaving the moon out of sight to prevent moonlight from illuminating the battlefield. The unicorns in the army used light to guide the pegasi, who flew with Luna over them, letting her down to shine bright lights into the eyes of the dragons using her magic. As most of the dragons fell in response to the pain, the soldiers ran forth faster to attack and try to kill the dragons on the front lines, which were all the smaller dragons.
"Fall back!! Fall back!" Luna cried, as the soldiers fell back, but she and Celestia stepped forth to erect a barrier to hold off the second line of dragons. "Tia! Your plan worked! Now, for phase two!"
Celestia nodded, and used her magic to conjure up a blizzard above the battlefield, using the reptilian aspects of the dragons against them. As the temperatures outside of the barrier dropped to below zero, the dragons began to fall prey to Celestia's trap and die slowly due to their cold bloods being driven to even more severe drops, if the lack of sunlight was not bad enough. "Now, we can prevent anymore of our troops to have to go and fight anymore, lest it be completely necessary."
"Tia, how did it come to this?"
A small incision was made in body of the dead pony the castle at Canterlot. The day was just trying to begin, as Celestia had spent the entire night working on this dead body of a pony whom she never knew. She possibly had a family, but as much as Celestia thought she'd know, she did not.
As the sunrise had already begun, Celestia took a break to wipe the sweat from her forehead. She looked at her cup of tea, and did not lift it to take another sip as she grew sick of the bland and flat taste of the cold and dark beverage.
"Star Swirl left this project up to me, and I must finish it... and that is exactly what I plan to do..." Celestia told herself, as she had been telling herself the same exact thing all night. She looked to her hoofs and noticed that they were covered in blood.
Celestia found herself completely numb to this whole entire experiment. At first, she could not stand to bear the thought of cutting open and modifying another pony's body, but she had done this for so many times again and again, that it just became second nature to her. All of those dead soldiers, conveniently preserved by Star Swirl, before the stallion's own death, of course, now being used as test subjects to now further preserve life.
It would have been raining, but surely Celestia knew she would need the sunlight to animate the dead body, as she was using plant DNA to make the genetic make up of the pony's skin. The photosynthesis would act as gears to get the organs pumping the blood and the magic would be fed by the massive amount of solar energy and oxygen. But that would only be to wake it up.
So Celestia had no need for rain right now. She would use it for when she wanted to nurture the body and give it an extra boost of energy. The soft body of the pony being experimented on was thanks to Celestia's constant tampering with it. By the gentle words of her sister Luna, Celestia knew that soon, she would finish this project, and never again would she have to send real living ponies to war. The alicorn stood over the dead pony's body, watching to see if the pale, gray skin would twitch or give any movement at all. She got absolutely nothing.
Her eyes shifted over to the clock, it read seven A.M., the hands of the clock seemingly taking an eternity to move, or had Celestia grown so sick and tired of this tedious process that she just found more interest in watching time go by? Usually very warm and loving, this mare's expression was hardened like the most freezing of all tundras, and no hope shined from her at all. She only managed to smile with the thought that she most definitely was going mad. After years of unsuccessful attempts, Celestia was finally ready to give up. She wanted to, but to give up Star Swirl's life long work would be fairly cold on her part.
Then came a single night that would prove to be Celestia's "wow" factor. The pony body twitched, and then it began to shift in its place.
"I've gotten it to move?" Celestia muttered to herself, drawing nearer to it and using her magic to grab it and levitate it from the table. It quickly responded by panicking almost, even making a squeaking sound, sounding almost like fear. "Afraid of heights, huh? Okay then, I'll put you down."
Celestia sat the pony body upon its hooves, but it stumbled in place and fell over onto its side. It looked like it had already given up on living. "No, no!" Celestia exclaimed with a slight laugh. "I don't take quitters in my guard. Stand."
The pony did nothing.
"Perhaps I shall treat you to more magical stimulation," Celestia said, about to charge the pony with some type of electric magic from her horn, but the pony began moving once again, trying to stand. Pushing itself up with its front hooves, it finally stopped itself from lying face down and was now almost kissing the ground with its position. "If I'm going to use you in war, then I will have to be sure to teach you any and everything you need to know. So, I'll tell you this, you should know you have a lot to learn."
