Canterlot has fallen, corrupted by a taint worse than anything seen in Equestria's history. Armies rallied against this taint, heroes and ancient magical artifacts brought to bare, even gods both mighty and meek challenged this well of evil and cruelty welling up from Equestria's crown jewel. They all failed.

Now, years later, Celestia once again calls upon those she once called her subjects to fight against the darkness that has been spreading across the land. Among those answering the call, four foalhood friends, reunited after years apart to once more lay claim to their foalish alliance. These four crusaders step forth to challenge the dark of their home, knowing they alone will not be enough and that far more hangs in the balance than a simple mark on their flank.
