//-------------------------------------------------------// The Librarian -by ghostlyink- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Note //-------------------------------------------------------// The Note On any normally quiet night you'd think twilight would be nodding off in bed. But this wasn't your normally quiet night it was an especially silent one. There were no grasshoppers chirping, no leaves rustling, or the sound of the library's oak floors settling. Why, even Owluicous hadn't even who'ed. Something odd was going on, but what? To keep her mind off the eerie lack of noise, Twilight decided to lose it in a familiar book. But which one? Wizard Of Odd 'too many road blocks' she thought to herself setting it back down on the shelf. The Dragon's Chalice ' Now that's something Spike would be interested in'. The Progression Of Wheat Bi-products " How did this even get on this shelf?" she said as she tossed it over to the shelf with other wheat related topics. Her eyes must have went through every book on that shelf until, they rested on one. Daring Doo and the Earthly Scepter, Twilight grinned "Why not? It's been some time since I read a Daring Doo.". She sat down and began. She had hardly reached the end of the third chapter, when She heard Spike let out a fiery belch. "Spi-i-ike" She said trying to sound annoyed but was clearly holding back her own laughter. "Don't blame me, Blame the Princess. Doesn't she know what time it is?" The little dragon yawned. There was still sleep in his eyes he was walking blind. He had bumped into several bookcases on his way down stairs."Ouch," He said picking himself up," Here's your royal Letter and I'll be taking my royal nap. Goodnight." and with that, he climbed his way back into bed. After Spike had returned to his bed, Twilight's attention turned to the letter. 'Celestia normally doesn't send messages this late' she thought, as she flipped the letter over. But it wasn't a letter from Celestia, her golden seal was nowhere on the letter. In it's place was a dark blue moon holding the letter close. If there was anytime for Twilight to be worried, now would be it. She tore the seal, opened the letter, and began to read. "Dearest Twilight, there is something stirring in the night it is effecting ponies sleep. We've look upon all options, but the result have been... inconclusive. Since your are the closest to the troubles point of origin, We would that it be you to investigate.". 'Why me? Surely Celestia might know whats happening.' Twilight thought as she looked up from the letter checking to see if the dragon was still sleeping soundly. at first sight he was peaceful, but something must have happen to what he was dreaming about because he started weeping and crying out for a 'diamond studded marshmallow'. She looked back down to the letter. " By now you must have notice it too. The cause of all this is coming from a place on the other side of the everfree. We shall be sending in a group to help you with this tasks. Try not to tell anypony where your going or you may start a panic. We don't think even you friends should know. The less pony who know the less of a chance of a hoof in mouth incident. We know how Applejack and Fluttershy can be." Twilight understood what she mean. Applejack could keep a promise but she couldn't lie. Fluttershy is good at calming animals, just not herself. She would faint after first hearing news of the dilemma and someone would ask her what was wrong. All to suddenly, a knock was at the door. It almost sent twilight shooting into the air. As she got up to get the door the letter fell. She hadn't read the last few lines. "That should be one of them now. Tread carefully and may the moonlight guide and protect you. sincerely Luna"
