The sun was shining bright and Eris was lounging on her favorite spot in the quaint cottage located at the edge of Ponyville. The couch in somepony's home. Like always she ended up having to argue with the owner's rabbit "Lilitha." over that very same spot. Even when majority of her long lengthy body had taken up the whole couch. The doubled bow bunny hopped up to an open corner and thumped it's tiny rabbit paws along Eris's cheek. The cute gesture not fooling or affecting Eris as she just frowned. A floating paw tapped Lilitha on her shoulder making her turn around to see who it was only for Eris's tail to lightly push the bunny off the corner of the couch. Letting her fall onto the floor. Like every one of their little territorial fights Eris ended up winning through power and size alone. Her smile appearing once more curling along her cheeks as she sighed out. Content with her current position.
"Ahhh! Nothing like a relaxing lazy morn-" Eris began before being cut off by another voice.
"Eris?" Called out a timid pony's voice. It was the owner of the house itself. Lilitha's master and dear friend of Eris.
"What do you want, Butterscotch?" Eris called out giving him a bit of sass as she wouldn't be able to sleep in with Butterscotch bothering her. Eris had been living with the timid little stallion. Using his cottage as a home and a sort of prison. Butterscotch had been trusted in reforming Eris from her once stubborn claim to changing everything to what she wanted. To change the land into a sky filled with fish and where drinking from a glass resorted in you drinking the cup itself and not the contents inside. A world of pure chaos. Though how could she help it. It was how she was created. Living in pain and loneliness for so very long.
"Oh...Sorry. It's just that Breakfast is ready and I didn't know you were still sleeping." Said the timid yellow colt who popped his head into the living room from the kitchen. One hoof held up along the entrance as he peered from his position over at Eris. With a flash of light Eris was suddenly behind Butterscotch. Taking the yellow pony up by his neck. Eris gave him a teasing pat on his head with a wide smile. Her body acting solely on the cravings in her belly.
"Well why didn't you say so?" Eris asked the pony in her arms. Snatching up Butterscotch quickly before he could even fight back against her in a fluster of legs to be set free. Sarcasm filling her lungs as she just laughed at the colt. Butterscotch just seemed to giggle into her arms. Finding her energetic wake-call to be something pleasant. He used to have breakfast alone. While not counting his animal companions in which was under his care, Eris was the only other being there to eat with him at his table. With another pop of wacky magic Eris was now in her seat curling her tail along the base of her chair. Rubbing her paw and claw together in delight. "What's on the menu today?" Eris said looking down into her plate and seeing her favorite morning treat laying along a porcelain plate.
"Chocolate chip cinnamon pancakes, extra chocolate, with a side of orange juice, hold the pulp of course. Only the best for my girl." Butterscotch mentioned hovering up behind with a flap of his wings behind Eris. He himself couldn't just flash magically in and out of place by a whim like she could. Eris blushed finding that her two limbs crossed her chest finding the sweet moment flood her heart. He had remembered how she liked her breakfast. Treating her like a normal pony, or dragon-goat-eagle-lion-serpent "thing". For once a pony was just happy to be around Eris. Not in all of her centuries of living has she been able to do this with anypony else. It was the main reason as to why she had stopped her chaotic streak. Learning how to be "reformed". To use her powers for boring "good" deeds. All because Butterscotch was her very first friend. Eris sat properly along the table. Taking hold of the fork placed on her side and began digging into her yummy looking breakfast. As her mouth chewed away she could feel something bubble up in her mind. Thoughts filled her head to make the plates and utensils dance around. For the ketchup bottle to squirt out like a whale's blowhole. To make their breakfast into a fun carnival of loose china running away with their food. It would have made a very entertaining morning for Eris. Though she could feel a tap in the back of her head. A faint warning that lately had been bothering Eris every time she just wanted to have some fun. The small muted voice had no say in Eris's thoughts. But the constant unending tapping never ceased in it's mental clear ramblings at her brain. Not until her thought passed on without her lifting a claw or paw to cast her wish. Eris began to frown thinking about ways to get this new mental ringing out of her head. The mixture of confused feelings for Butterscotch and that annoying reminder that she had to "behave" in order to show how reformed she was was beginning to really get to her. Eris growled at her conflicting thoughts wishing it would stop. Her normal thoughts louder and now more annoying than ever since it felt like she was whining to herself mentally for not doing anything fun anymore. Eris looked down at her plate tapping her fork along the barely eaten oddly looking pancake. Butterscotch noticed how frustrated his guest was and froze in his seat. Swallowing his last nibble of hay and daisy salad breakfast before addressing the problem.
"Is everything okay Eris?" Butterscotch asked as he laid his fore hooves along the edge of the table. Preparing himself to stand up and switch out the juice for chocolate milk. Expecting Eris to complain about something. Through his own generous kindness he didn't mind at all. After all Eris was only a temporary tenant. It was his job to see that Eris was reformed. The best way he could do that, which was the only way he knew how to do such a thing to someone as powerful as Eris, was to smother her in the real kindness of a friend.
"Oh! Uh...yes. Not one problem!" Eris said filling her mouth with another piece of her pancake. Her body flashing in a display of light as she now had a sweater on with a french beret. Taking on the form of a French pony critic. Eris's long slender form had taken the shape of a normal looking pony with horns poking through her beret. She raised a hoof up to her snout and kissed the air with a faint wave of her leg. "Mmmmawwwh! Your cooking, Butterscotch is just eh, how you say? 'Tres bon!'." Eris said flashing back into her normal long slender form with a slight giggle. Her random moment meant to deter Butterscotch from further troubling himself for her.
"Oh. Okay." Butterscotch replied still not believing that random moment of an excuse. No way was he about to pardon her with that act alone. He could see that his dear friend was having trouble with something. Which then, a simple idea came across his head about the promise she had made one day with him. Hoping to find a way to cheer her up he mentioned his idea.
"So Eris. About the chores today?" Butterscotch started. Taking a sip of his drink. Waiting to see if he had grabbed her full attention.
"What about it?" Eris said huffing out feeling so very bored at this point and annoyed. The ringing in her head intensifying as she knew that she should be watching how she spoke to others more. Especially to her host Butterscotch. Obviously Eris knew Butterscotch had a schedule in feeding his animal friends twice a day. Taking fresh veggies and other things to make sure them and their families ate well. It was just Butterscotch's nature.
"You promised to help me today with the animals. Feeding the birds. The bunnies. The chickens and- Butterscotch held his chin as he began naming out each animal he cared for. Which made Eris have to stop the colt from going too far. Cutting him off before he continued on with his long list of wild animals.
"Yeah. I'll help you feed them." Eris said waving a claw into the air as if it wasn't a big deal. Truth be told she had promised him that as a way to just spend more time with the stallion. Also to make Butterscotch forget that one day when she had changed colors on every nearby creature. While harmless it brought the animals into a frenzy. Being quite the crowd of snitches as soon as she had done her little prank. The animals had reported the incident to Butterscotch as quickly as possible.
"Yeah. I think it's best. My friends don't seem to like you touching them. Again." Butterscotch added. "Or looking at them. Or mentioning their name. You know it might be better if we do this another-."
"Oh no! I'll show them I'm reformed! Just you wait. I'm practically a changed Eris! So let's not cancel this date please? All under their pretenses that I 'may' or 'may not' change them into a monstrous beaver or-"
"Date?" Butterscotch briefly. While he waited for Eris's outraged ranting to come to an end. Eris held herself up in a hover feeling a bit of her chaotic mannerisms come to surface. Her paw along her chest as her claw was along her hips. She looked down at herself and rethought about the way she was going on about this.
"Fate! Dear Butterscotch! FATE!" Eris quickly corrected herself flashing to Butterscotch's side and taking his neck into a close embrace. Eris waved her paw into the air as if sharing a grand idea with Butterscotch. "It's inevitable! I'm bound to change sooner or later. I mean even you have seen my progress, right? My exact fate to be-" Another flash popped along Eris's body and she suddenly had a sunhat on her head. Her horns popping right out of them as her claw and paw were filled with a teacup and saucer. Eris finishing her statement in a snooty tone. "-rrrrreformed." She said calmly sipping on the conjured tea that popped into existence to help further her mask of a lie. Her tongue even rolling her R's to make her seem even more sophisticated. Butterscotch backed away into his seat. Looking to continue eating breakfast without anymore questions. He respected her, but even with all the kindness in the world he had no idea how to explain Eris's behavior. Eris was swirling her long slender form along the air doing some strange painting in on the wall. Featuring Eris shaking Lilitha's paw. Eris smiled wide and presented her masterpiece that was done within a few swipes of her paintbrush. Butterscotch finally glancing away letting Eris be Eris. Eris finally could relax her lips from their tense mask of shame she had to put up. Even her painted self flicked Lilitha's painted form away from her before flashing away into nothing. Eris sighing out silently and returned to her seat with another pop of magic. Taking her orange juice into her lips and drinking it quickly. The chaotic goddess stuck her claw into her last set of pancakes and stuffed her mouth quickly as an excuse to leave the table before she did anything else that would ridicule her or reveal her growing feelings for her host. Eris popping out of the room leaving Butterscotch alone. The blonde pony felt a strand of his pink mane fall along his face as his head was held down low. Worried about Eris. His left hoof coming up to brush it back into place before placing that though aside for later. Taking his time to finish his breakfast and the dishes to allow Eris to release some pent out energy before the chores began.
Meanwhile Eris was pacing back and forth in the living room her claw along her chin as her two hind legs moved about. "Ugh! This is going about terribly! How am I suppose to tell him?! 'Oh Buttscotch please accept my love for you?' Bah! That is not how I do things! What would he even think?" Eris thought about different ways of making this work. Her mind reeling out some ideas. Catching her mind on one particular idea. She saw a thought cloud come into view as the dragon like being cuddled along a bound Butterscotch who was terrified for his life. Tied with rope and gagged with a white cloth. The imaginary Eris licked her captive's cheek and then suddenly Eris could feel that very same tapping banging against her head like a metal bat along a hollow pipe. "Grrrr!" Eris growled at the constant reminder. The knocking bursting her bubble to vanish from sight. Eris looked down and caught the small bunny looking up at her tapping it's foot in a huff. Suddenly Lilitha had something on Eris. Overhearing the worried girl talk about her feelings.
"You wouldn't." Eris told the rabbit as Lilitha grinned. Rushing for the kitchen where the clutter of dishes were being done by the very same colt they both were thinking about. Eris was quicker and still way stronger than the bunny. With a snap of her claws Lilitha was in Eris's hands. "You be a good bunny and-YOOOW!" Lilitha bit down on that claw and ran into the kitchen. Leaving Eris wagging her claw in pain poofing into the kitchen her body taking the shade of a burning red as she huffed out whisps of steam from her nose at the rabbit. Lilitha already banging her tiny forepaws into Butterscotch's lower legs as he was propped over the kitchen sink. His hooves busy running a sponge over a plate.
"Oh. Hello Lilitha! I'm sorry. I know you're hungry. Let daddy finish the dishes and then I'll feed you." Butterscotch said. Eris looming over the smaller bunny as Lilitha looked up at the threat above her finally giving Butterscotch a rough kick with her hind leg. "Hey!" Butterscotch said looking down at Lilitha. "Alright. I'll feed you now." His gaze looking behind him catching an angelic sight of Eris. Literally having a glowing halo and light shining from her head as she smiled innocently. Her upper body hovering over Lilitha and so very close to Butterscotch's legs.
"What are you up too?" Butterscotch asked as he blinked a couple of times. Wondering what she was up to.
"Oh nothing! Just playing a bit of a game with Lilitha. Isn't that right, Snookums!" Eris said snatching the bunny up into her arms and giving her an awfully rough petting with her other limb. Eris holding her wide smile and a small shine appeared on her large fang that stood out. Butterscotch's mind just did not even question how Eris even does these things knowing that Eris will be Eris. He turned around to continue his work. With his sight off Eris she narrowed her eyes at the bunny in her arms and she became that same shade of red with her two horns curling inwards silently telling the bunny of what evil she was thinking about to punish her.
"Since you're playing with Lilitha. Would you be ever so kind to feed her too,please? My hooves are full. If that's okay, that is?" Butterscotch said in almost a complete hushed tone.
"Suuuurrrre. I'll feed her alright!" Eris said with an evil grin. Lilitha attempting to bite on her claw once more only to meet with a cork to cap her large teeth. Eris bringing the poor bunny close to her face as Eris poked Lilitha's nose in a taunt. Eris's snake tongue slipping out of her toothy grin taunting her prey even more. With another faint flash of her magic the pair was gone.
"Make sure to keep her greens dry. She likes them crunchy and- Oh....you're gone." Butterscotch added looking behind him only to notice a second later they were gone. Eris poofs up into the small attic in the cottage where it was nice and dark. The white bunny trapped within her grasp only for a cage to flash into place around the poor bunny. Another flash and the cork stopping her large teeth from clamping back down into pace was gone as well. Eris smiled wide and rattled the conjured cage with a toothy grin follow after. Lilitha shaking her confines trying to get free, but to no avail.
"See ya, 'Snookums.'!" Eris said with a salute and poof she was gone. With the same fashion of magic that she usually used. Back in the kitchen with two baskets of veggies, a couple of fresh fish, and a small bag of bird feed. "Ready to go!" Eris said feeling her hooves touch the ground. Taking the shape of a pony this time. Ready to spend some time with her lovable host.

"Alright, Eris. I'm done. Let's go and...Oh! You changed forms again?" Butterscotch asked looking at the same pony version of Eris she had used previously. Complete with beret and sweater too. Her flank featuring a very strange cutie mark. And yet. It suited her. Pink clouds that were raining something that looked like muddy water or chocolate. Despite what Butterscotch wanted to say he was finding this pony version of his friend rather cute. From her multi-colored coat and yellow-red hybrid eyes she was quite the beauty.
"Yeah. I think it's best if I do things your way. Also I won't upset the animals this time in this body." Eris explained having a plan as always. Showing just how devious and cunning she was in her own little ways. Eris brought a hoof up to her chest and sighed out. Steadying her mind for the small amount of work just used as an excuse to spend time with the stallion she cared for. "What's first?"
"Did you feed Lilitha?" Butterscotch added placing a saddlebag over his back and storing the food inside of it. One side fish the other the bird feed while he bit down on the basket of veggies.
"Oh yeah! She's fine! Now, don't we have hungry critters to feed?"
"Oh right! I've kept them waiting too long. They'll be awfully cranky if I don't feed them soon." Butterscotch mentioned making his way out to the backdoor of his wide open field of a yard. Eris choosing to following after Butterscotch with her new form using her odd pair of wings to lift herself off of the ground floating out the same door. Seeing Butterscotch already being crowded by at least a dozen tiny critters. Huddling up around him by his legs in waiting.
"Alright. Here you go." Butterscotch said with a rather small smile. His muzzle unclipping one side of his saddlebag. Reaching inside with one foreleg and brushing out a splash of corn kernels and acorns. Birds huddling around the corn pecking at the loose food. As squirrels and other rodents took pieces of the acorns and scurried off into the nearby trees. "You be nice now and share." Butterscotch told the small animals who rushed to grab their fill. Butterscotch smiled wider and looked back at his guest. He tilted his head to the open saddlebag wanting Eris to give it a try. What he had just given would definitely not be enough for every animal friend present. Eris shyly scooted up and eased her hoof into the bag. Flinching at the touch of the dry food as if the bag held something that would bite her specifically. The kind gesture feeling very strange to her as she brought her hoof out and looked down into her hoof. Staring at the feed mix within her grasp. She was frowning at the unfamiliar feelings inside of her. It was all alien to her as she dropped it to the ground. Dusting her hooves free of the small mess that was in her hooves while lacking the grace Butterscotch had shown in his expert motion of waving his hoof over the ground to spread the food around. Butterscotch chuckled a bit at how Eris looked while attempting it for the first time. It must have been the first time ever when she offered something like this to an animal friend.
"What?" Eris huffed out. Not use to being the center of a joke.
"Oh nothing. You were quite cute feeding the critters." Butterscotch added. Forcing Eris's cheeks to glow a faint red. Eris bit the side of her lip. Again another feeling that felt odd to her as Butterscotch called her cute. Eris in her shyness felt like she should somehow make herself seem fun and exciting.
"Oh. Butterscotccch!" Eris began in a singsong tone. Grabbing the blonde pony's attention as he separated a couple of animals apart that were fighting over some food. "Now you wouldn't mind if I did things my way, now would you?" Eris aid with a sly grin. Testing her bounds as Butterscotch raised his brow at her. Having to look away and watch Eris. Taking his silence as a yes. Eris hovered into the air and clapped her hooves together. Suddenly the crowd grew in size. More friends were added to the party as more animals were joined in with the small critters. Except these new guests were hissing, growling, and snarling at their natural prey within their sights. Each and every animal panicked for their little lives. As their predators chased after each one. Jaws and claws swiping away trying to get their own fill of their "new friends". Butterscotch watched in horror as his friends all ran scared for their lives.
"Oh no! Oh no no no! NO!" Butterscotch yelled out hurrying after several snakes and slamming their open jaws shut before a bunny got eaten. Kicking a nearby wolf away from a poor chipmunk flying as fast as he could trying to contain the mess.
"See. I knew you'd love a good party. Nothing better for a party than to invite more friends over."
"Eris!" Butterscotch yelled out finding himself stuck within the jaws of a crocodile holding both ends of the massive beast's jaws with his yellow limbs.
"Bad idea?"
"Take them away!"
"Oh! Excuse me. So we get to play with your friends and not mine?"
"Just TAKE THEM AWAY!!!" Butterscotch screamed out for his life feeling his body bend under the strong maw of the predator he had to subdue. Eris huffed out bumping her hooves together and her very hungry predatory friends left the scene with a slight flash. Poofing back into the nearby forest. Just moments before several of the yellow stallion's friends found the inside of another creature's belly. Butterscotch flopped to the ground with a slight thud. Groaning with a slight pant in his chest from fighting away the predators from his friends.
"Was the party too hardy?" Eris said with a grin. Her eyes narrowing in worry as she watched her host get up onto his legs. Shaking his head from the adrenaline filled experience. Butterscotch's friends had left from sight. Hiding for their own safety. The gentle caretaker could see how the leaves from the trees rustled with birds and rodents shaking in fear. Butterscotch sighed leaving the basket of veggies down on the ground. Free for the bunnies and deer who didn't get to eat as every animal was frightened away from the chaotic scene.
"I guess. We're done for the chores right now Eris." Butterscotch added as he had much less to feed now thanks to Eris's intervention. Flapping her wings she took to float into the air in a steady hover.
"Already? See, easy! In record time too!" Eris gloated brushing her hoof along her chest in proud showmanship.
"Just...Um. I'll meet you inside, Eris." Butterscotch added. Holding back how upset he actually was at his guest from pretty much making his morning worse. He would have to calm down the animal families once they all decided to come out. Even have to give them something extra next feeding time to help ease their stress. Butterscotch left Eris's side to swoop under the tiny bridge to offer her ferrets some fish. He had to finish a couple more things before returning inside. While Eris did cut his chores in a good amount she had only made his next set of duties much harder to deal with.
"Oh. Right." Eris said with a frown. Poofing away from the spot and ending up inside of the house on the couch. Finding that their date ended too abruptly, to be anything but a nuisance for her beloved Butterscotch. Eris fiddling with her hooves along her chest a she laid sprawled along her most comforting spot. What was she to do? How would she end up fixing this? Could she even fix it? Now that she was asking herself what she did wrong. She realized bringing her friends from the Everfree Forest for a visit must have been a really big mistake since most of Butterscotch's were much smaller than the animals she had befriended in her spare time. When she wasn't around Butterscotch she was out in the forest casting some magic with no restraint. It was a good outlet and she happened to make some buddies from her free time. This way she could control her urges in Butterscotch's house from rotating his home in a constant spin that would make anypony sick to their stomach. Or even twisting his animal friends into some conjoined image of nature. She was just trying to be herself. To impress the one she loved so much with a trick or two. Eris didn't know what to do. Maybe a little talk would be in order to help relieve her stress. Only one other creature in the house was worth talking to and that was her nemesis. Lilitha. Eris stuck out her tongue in disgust at the thought. The sour idea making her cringe in place. Though it could help ease her troubles. She flashed away in another second and was now in the dusty old attic of the cottage.
"Alright. Rabbit. Tell me....gasp!" Eris turned to the cage she had conjured for Lilitha only to see it's contents empty. The door was wide open and a strange long beaked bird was stuck within it's locking mechanism. The poor thing was flapping for it's life with it's beak stuck in the cage's lock. With the cage flashing away into nothingness. Eris took hold of the bird that helped Lilitha escape and brought it's bent beak to her face.
"Where. Is. She?!" Eris growled as a shaking wing came up into the air pointing out of the window in it's reply. Eris's jaw dropped catching sight of a bouncing bunny trying to tell Butterscotch something. "GASSSPPP!" Eris poofed away immediately to intercept the bunny's message. Popping right next to the rabbit and snatching her up.
"Eris what? HEY! Eris!" Butterscotch said bringing a hoof up to his chin before watching as Eris came out of nowhere grabbing his pet bunny by it's head and what looked to be Eris suffocating the poor creature.
"Oh she meant nothing! It's lies! LIES, I tell you!" Eris began trying to come up with an excuse. Her mind racing with thoughts of how she might do this. Images of binding Butterscotch with rope and gagging him still coming into her mind as that constant knocking became as loud as ever. As if a giant was now pounding on a door trying to send a message. "Crumpet?" Eris began now just trying to change the subject without causing a migraine to her poor head. Holding up a strange round pastry that actually left Butterscotch confused as ever.
"Put her down!" The stallion demanded pointing at the ground with his hoof. "That is no way to treat a friend!" Butterscotch glared at Eris watching her slowly place the bunny down. Letting her free to tell Butterscotch her message. With Eris clenching her hands watching in irritation. For some reason Lilitha's bows were not placed along her ears anymore. The pet bunny hopped to Butterscotch's side and pointed at a couple of red strands on the ground. It was Lilitha's bows placed along the ground to make a shape. The artistic rabbit took each long ribbon and made hearts interjecting with one another. Her tiny paw pointing away as she tugged on Butterscotch's coat.
"What is it Lilitha? You can tell me." He said giving a quick glare at Eris. Who was now twiddling her thumbs. As angry as she had made Butterscotch now. She didn't want to upset him anymore. Knowing when she was getting "the stare" from her host. Her hands tied knowing that she was on her last straw. Lilitha pointed at Eris than to the pair of ribbon hearts and than finally up to Butterscotch. Repeating the same motion with growing intensity. Butterscotch blinked trying to make sense of what his pet wanted.
"Eris....hearts....me? What could that mean?" Butterscotch said. Eris blushing quite hard now. So eager to just snap her fingers and watch those ribbons burn in smoke. Or to summon a giant anaconda for Lilitha to "play" with. Eris giving out an excuse to further cloud Butterscotch from the truth.
"Truth be told. I never did feed Lilitha." Eris began apologizing for letting his pet starve pass breakfast. She took this silence and snatched the white rabbit into her hooves and left with a few quick words as another excuse.
"So I'm gonna do it now, BYE!"
"Eris!" Butterscotch tried stopping her, but was too late. Eris had just vanished. Butterscotch growled and screamed out in frustration. Well to most it would probably be a small cat like mew and a very high pitched sigh. Eris flashing herself and Lilitha by the window sill to watch Butterscotch grit his teeth and inhale heavily. Watching as he seemed to scream, yet the shout was very faint as he exhaled out in his stressful state. Eris looked down at the bunny in her arms. Letting the cute thing go now as it held a smug look in the glow of her victory. Lilitha's job was done. The hungry bunny went off to find something to munch on without Eris's help. Eris didn't feel like arguing with Lilitha. The truth was out. A few seconds more and the loved stallion turned to the shaped red ribbons and craned his neck up higher. And higher. The thought just hitting him as his mind deciphered the message. His head turned to his home. Knowing where Eris was now residing. Catching sight of Eris sitting by the window watching him now. His lips held wide open in surprise. Eris greeting that shocked expression with a wave of her hoof and a wide smile. She felt like she could die right now. Every ounce of her being telling her to run. Run far and fast and to stay hidden until another 1,000 years passed by. Eris watched nervously as Butterscotch made his way inside. Each second feeling like an eternity of agony. As burning sparks of curiosity beat within her heart. How she wished she could use magic to just stop this heartache flooding her chest. The door opened and the two pairs of eyes met. Eris sitting on the couch and Butterscotch stood there along the open doorway. Eris held her forelegs between her hindlegs in a cute display. Awaiting his answer. His reply or some type of reaction. Yet Butterscotch stood there for a good moment. No words leaving his lips as Eris was left to think about how she might respond. What she could say to make this situation any better. If that even was an option at this point.
"You love me?" Butterscotch asked. Sincerely trying to uncover the truth without any pain coming to one another.
"Yes. I do." She sighed out avoiding his gaze. Her red pupils looking down to the floor unable to cover up this facade any longer. Butterscotch didn't know what to do next. His eyes looking around the room for answers. As if it would just pop out and explain the most obvious choice. His stunned body unsure of how to react. Other than to join Eris along the couch and hold her in a hug. He could now see why she was so distraught this whole morning. Through breakfast, the chores, and right now. Eris's heart fluttered about within her chest. Almost melting in Butterscotch's touch. This time it was caring. Loving. Not like those friendship moments she had with him. The feeling was more intense. Deeper. Deep from his own heart he was taking hold of her. By his own choice and caring he was reflecting as much love as he could back to the hidden secret revealed to him. They seemed to stay like that for moments beyond time. The sweet sensation leaving all too soon as Butterscotch parted looking into her eyes and giving her forehead a kiss. Leaving the couch to tend to others things. This left the chaotic being with a great pounding in her heart and lungs. Something that could easily drown out that annoying "reformed" reminder of hers that always bothered her. Eris touched her forehead where the precious stallion kissed her and sighed out. More confused than ever. Was this his reply? His only way of reacting to her confession? It came out in such an inappropriate way. Nonetheless she got what she hoped for. It wasn't denial and their relationship continued. As his name had replied he was all too sweet to her. Eris could feel her mind stuck on the blonde pony. Falling in love with him all over again.

For every character I do in my stories. I make it a point to look back on previous episodes on how the character was portrayed in the series. For Eris(Discord) I had to literally look back on all his/her (WHATEVER!) scenes to make sure I hit the 'bullseye' in the 'right way.' This being said my work usually takes more time with more complex a character is the more research is needed to draw that character into my writing. Special thanks to DJ-Col7 for giving me this idea. Inspiring me to write something that he so craved. So here's to you Col7. Hope It ends your craving.

Eris found herself sitting on her spot in the humble house of her favorite host. Her legs moved about trying to find a good position to relax. Though it wasn't her body that waz tense and in distress, but it was her mind. The rest of the questionable day moved along without her as she seemed to be frozen in time. Thoughts about how her relationship with Butterscotch would either flourish or shatter. Just how and when would it happen? Would he choose to reply to her or leave her in the dark with silent denial? She could barely read him. Leaving her unsure about which direction it was really going. Right now her mind felt like a piece of taffy. Pulled to the point of where it refused to stretch any longer, as the chewy confecttion once more returned to it's usual shape. Which side would taste sour while the other was sweet? She had no idea and was very much afraid to bite down to find out. She was old enough in her years, centuries actually, to know that time would play this out. And she so let it. Keeping to her seat in quiet. Still in her disarrayed pony form.
Lifting up a hoof to stare at it's underside. Eris began to ponder if Butterscotch liked this form at all. He did seem to smile a bit more. Was it because her normal shape was ugly? Did he not like her that much? Did he find her to be repulsive in mannerisms and looks alike? She caught herself sighing out in frustration. Still in the dark about the unknown that should have came to her attention the moment he found out. While she knew it wasn't her right to force the answers out of Butterscotch. Eris couldn't help but hate this painstaking waiting. The everlasting worry that flooded her mind. To her it felt like she just unleashed a stampede of morphed long legged bunnies into the legend of the mirror pool. It was only getting worse as the imaginary bunnies' flock increased. Bringing more and more tension to Eris's mind. Before she knew it the afternoon had passed by and night had now submerged the sky in a gentle blend of blue and black along the moonlit sky.
"Eris! Dinner is done." Butterscotch called out. Addressing her in the same manner he had done this very morning. Peeking out from the kitchen entrance. Strangly enough he hid more of his face along the doorway. Only his eyes poked out from the barrier looking at her. Eris could feel herself bite down onto her tongue. Seeing how different Butterscotch was acting towardsher. It didn't make sense. First he was hugging her and gave her a caring kiss on the head. Now he was trying to avoid her entirely? Eris held back a groan of pure frustration as she hopped off of the couch. Forelegs first and then her hindlegs nervously shuffling her limbs across the floor. Choosing to trot into the kitchen rather then poof in with her magic. Giving her host just a couple more seconds of alone time in the kitchen. Butterscotch fled back into the wall leaving Eris's sight. It was a couple seconds later and Eris could see Butterscotch settling himself into a seat at his table. Opposite from where Eris usually sat.
On the table was a plate with shish kabobs. A thin long wooden stick was punctured through a tomato, a potato, a bell pepper,and a large chunk of carrot. Roasted grilled veggies for dinner. Eris gave a smile to butterscotch as she stood at the entrance. Though Butterscotch wouldn't look up from his plate. Being the kind gentlecolt he was, Butterscotch waited for Eris to join him. Watching her with a faint expression and lips that resembled a flatline on its monitor. Eris brushed her left foreleg with her right. Wanting to just make this awkward feelings between disappear with a clap of her hooves. Though it wasn't that simple of a thing to do. As Butterscotch avoided her gaze while somehow at the same time paid attention to her movements as she seated herself.
The disarrayed goddess watched in her silence as the yellow host of hers lifted his piece of the roasted morsels and bit down on it. Would he say something maybe after his first bite? The waiting was killing Eris at this point. Watching as he munched on his food keeping silent. Surely he would have to address this sooner or later. Butterscotch wasn't the kind of pony to leave her so distraught. Would he? Even she began to question what she knew about Butterscotch. Watching as Butterscotch emptied his mouth swallowing and opening up his lips slightly. Hopfully to talk to Eris. The mare could feel her lungs fill with air. A mix of dread and excitement coming up as jolts with the breeze flowing into her lips.
Only to be disappointed in Butterscotch taking another bite. Eris gave out a groan and began to partake in her meal. Chewing through the soft tender bell pepper. Eris was left to think about things as she couldn't find words to speak with the yellow colt. There was nights when all they would do was sit down, eat, and then go to bed after. This one felt different as it felt like something was off. Eris could feel that faint knocking coming into her brain again. Her urges of asking him was triggering this mental ringing.
The annoying clatter of a bell at a hotel with no one at the desk to handle the customer. ( I get it already! Jeez! I need to give him room to think. ) Eris thought to herself. In a mental attempt to shoo off the ringing since she hadn't done anything rude. Taking a another bite she numbed her mind and kept her eyes busy. To distract herself from the troubling mental images. The yellow stallion in front of her looked so cute. Even though he looked sadden and bothered. Was he affected as much as she was. Eris could feel her smile curling along her lips under her one long fang. Her breathing turning into long elevated inhales and exhales. Sighing out at how adorable he was sitting there. Her eyes began blinking at a fast pace. Bringing her out of her daydream as she shook her head and tried to find something else to keep her thoughts occupied.
Eris caught sight of her glass. It was filled with water. Plain water. This was weird for her as butterscotch always made an effort to give her juice, cider, tea, or milk with her meals. Even asking a couple of times what she would like to eat dinner with. This was strange as Butterscotch seemed to have placed no effort in pleasing her this time around. Was it her fault for today's events? With her animal friends coming for a visit?
Just then she got an image of Butterscotch jammed in the jaws of the crocodile see had seen today. His name was Snappy and almost took a permanent taste of the caretaker pony. If not for the intervention of Eris seconds before it could happen. Eris waved that image away. Attacking the thought bubble that appeared before her. Grunting out at it as if it was putting up quite the struggle.
By now she realized how much of a commotion she was making. The complete quiet stillness made her small gestures and faint sounds from her lips ring out in much louder showing. Since it was the only sounds being made within the kitchen. Eris looked over to Butterscotch who was slouched over his plate. His head bent down as his eyes peered from the top of their sockets staring at Eris. Eris gave a wide smile and waved back to Butterscotch who gave a much weaker form of a greeting back at her in reply.
"So how's the food?" Butterscotch finally broke the silence. Eris giggled nervously and replied honestly.
"You know, I'm still getting use to pony food. Most of the times it's candy and snacks on my diet." Eris bragged finding that sugar actually did help keep her alive and well. Her body being out of the norm of every other living being. What was usually viewed as bad nature was good for Eris. So it made sense that she was also what she ate. A complete mess of junk food and heavy oils and sugar.
"Eh. Not bad." She said acting cool with a shrug of her shoulders. She bit into a tomato and smiled, which she mistakenly slathered red tomato juice and bits over her teeth as she did so. Butterscotch laughed seeing how cute Eris was in her nervous fit with him. Eris giggled sarcastically and closed her lips swallowing the mouthful. In her attempt at being kind as possible she turned out a bit goofy. Eris wiped her lips with a hoof and saw how Butterscotch had gotten his smile back. This only lasted for a small few minutes.
The rest of dinner came to a close without another word being said. Eris, being the good girl she was aiming to be, brought her dishes to the sink. Without the aid of her magic. Grabbing onto the plate of hers with her mouth and trotting over to the sink. Where Butterscotch was already busying washing his own set of dinnerware.
"Thank you." Butterscotch told her without so much of a glimpse over at her. The kind words falling short on the usually appreciation, as Eris could feel a certain sting to the denial of gazing into his eyes. All she could do was smile and back away normally. Returning to the living with her head down in a slump. It wasn't a bad dinner. It was different though. She could not place her claw on what was going on. It had been quite a day on her. She was mentally tired and her spirit didn't wanna seem to keep going either. Were things getting better or worse? Who could tell, with the way Eris had been today? Locking up Lillitha. Almost getting a bunch of Butterscotch's friends eaten. Eating all of his food and drinking all his juice and milk. If anything she felt more like a pest rather than a friend for Butterscotch.
Things were still more quiet than Eris had liked them to be. She could only hear the thoughts in her head and the clattering of dishes in water. Butterscotch washing the dishes like he did after every meal they had. Which acted as a constant indication of where Buttersotch was and his presence nearby. Eris retreated to the living room and figured it would be better to just head to bed. Thinking that some rest would do her good. Spending the night as she always did by conjuring a bed and tucking herself in. Clapping her hooves together her bed for the night popped into the middle of the room. The bed had a normal wooden frame and the sheets were a cream color yellow. While everything else was a clean white color. Yellow? As in Butterscotch's coat? It was obvious she couldn't keep him out of her own mind. Without thinking she had summoned a yellow bed.
Wanting to scream out her frustrations, she was met with that same constant knocking in her head. Reminding. Always reminding her even if it was just a thought. Telling her not to make so much noise at such a time of night when things were suppose to be winding down. Eris knocked back on her own temple trying to knock some sense into the tiny voice that was making a racket in her brain. More then ever now, she needed some rest. She pulled back those sheets with the hopes that tomorrow will bring something better for her.
Eris slipped into the sheets and felt the warm comfortable queen size bed against her back, neck, and head. Tucking herself in the large bed. While it was very luxurious, it didn't seem to be helping with her nerves. No matter what position she turned. The jumbled looking pony turned to her left. Then to her right. Then face down flat along her pillow.
Burying her face into the pillow she could do little, but lay there feeling like she should rip the pillow for the blame on her uncomfortable state. Eris popped her head back up at the feel of her lungs collapsing a bit as she lost some oxygen. Laying her chin along the pillow she sighed out. Tucking everything but her nose and eyes into the soft embrace of the feather filled friend. Eris emptied her mind in another attempt to find sleep. She could feel herself blinking. And breathing. And thinking. The heat of her pumping blood. Flowing through her body. Each detail of her body running through her brain. (Seriously?! JUST GO TO SLEEP!) Eris thought to herself as her attention was strangely placed on things she should not have been worried about.
Next Eris tried laying still for the longest time. Flipping over to her backside and closing her eyes shut. For what seemed like forever, the poor girl still could not find any rest. She didn't even bother to check the time. For once she finds out she knew she would regret it and find even more anger growing inside of her. Everything was beginning to pile up to an alarming height. Eris shut her eyes close to the point where it hurt her. Trying her best to just sleep. Keeping still to force it to fall upon her.
That one moment when you feel completely awake. Sleep eluding you to the point where you worry about your mental health. Too exhausted about thinking about tomorrow's schedule as you attempt to do everything in your power to find rest within the confines of your own sheets. This was Eris right now. A bundle of concern for her mental stability as she wrapped herself with her blanket. Feeling like the innards of a burrito. Twisting and turning to find that one perfect position.
Eris could feel her eyes had grown sore. The red lines merging with her red orbs. If she had her claws still she would be shredding her very bed. How long had she been up? She couldn't tell anymore. There it was again. That same ringing, telling her she couldn't make a mess in Butterscotch's living room. The poor distraught goddess plopped her head into her pillow. Lifting up the side up to her ears. Wanting her mind to be at ease with the quiet air around her.
Was this how insane she made other ponies when she was around? Never before had somepony else been able to affect her so much. So single-hoofedly. Now here she was off guard and tired. The stress really bringing her down. Eris finally gave into her tornado of emotions. Letting it take her as she laid there. Wide eyed and awake to every possible second of the late night ticking away. She needed him. Just to say something to comfort her. Her face lit up with the idea of going to his side and just sleeping in his bed. Wait, his bed?
There it was. That same ringing. He was already asleep by now. To wake him up now would be rude. And to sleep in an uninvited bed with him? Especially now with her confession hanging in the air? Bad move and her brain was scolding her for it. That wordless knocking on her skull. Tormenting her ever more.
Eris sighed out and made do with something else. If she couldn't cuddle with the pony she loved. Then she needed a substitute. With this the knocking came to a close. Eris nodded her weary head and a large Butterscotch plushie found it's way into her hooves. The resemblance being very uncanny. With the Butterdoll's yellow coat and the pink mane that flowed over the doll's beady eyes. Even the way the pressed-in-sewn cutie mark was placed along his flank. With such a toy in her arms she felt undisturbed now. Eris sighed out and cuddled the doll close in her legs.
Feeling how her chest heaved out pressing her body tighter to the Butterscotch replica. Then it finally came the darkness that shrouded her mind. As the chaotic goddess finally found herself asleep.
Eris's dream was composed of a pink like sky. Mostly filled with pink clouds that rumbled about. Filled with the threatening chocolaty rainfall about to pour on the unsuspecting land. The land was laid with a checkered pattern of black and white. Fish buzzed in the air as birds barked in their watery ponds and lakes. The sky was filled with both night and day. A streak of orange outlined the middle of the open sky as much as possible between the pink covering clouds. It was perfect. It was her world. She felt at peace. At home with everything.
The humble little cottage was floating in the air. It seemed that way though as a single needle like tip of a spire was the only thing holding it up. Balanced perfectly ontop of the spire for some reason with little to nothing holding up it's sides. There was no way in or out of the house. The doors completely gone leaving only the windows. Which were nothing but unbreakable triangles now. Decorated in her style of chaotic decor.
Down in the living room, which was now a bedchamber for Eris to enjoy the world through her windows, the quirky goddess laid along a large heart shaped bed. Eris was in in her normal form coiled around a certain yellow pony. Her midsection of her serpentine body wrapped around twice along Butterscotch's thin frame. Eris had propped her head along her paw as she looked down at her prey.
"Tell me you love me again." She whined giving the trapped pony a pair of puppy dog eyes.
Butterscotch winced at the small pain striking the rest of his scrunched up midsection and limbs. Eris's lengthy body slithered along his coat in joyful playing of her prey. He could feel each inch in a strain against her body.
"I...I-I love you." He said meekly. Unable to do anything. This was her world. Perfect in every way shape or form. If she saw something she didn't like. She'd simply twist it to fit her vision. A dreamland utopia meant for the chaotic being.
"Oh stop it! You're making me blush!" Eris said. Tossing her head up in dramatic flare. Her claw covering her forehead as she giggled laying her head along the edge of the pillows, that laid along the top of the heart shaped furniture. Her coiled up body slipping off of Butterscotch to a normal length for her. Eris laid back along her bed with the yellow pony sitting on the bed. Looking quite terrified. "Again!" Eris commanded bringing her head back up. Leaning herself up like an excited child expecting a grand gift to pop out in front of her.
"I...love you?" Butterscotch clambered the words out from his lips. Butterscotch was clearly confused about how he was doing. The fact that Eris wanted a second go at him saying it made him feel like he wasn't doing it right.
"No...that doesn't sound right. Say it again. With more gusto!" Eris began propping herself up on one arm tapping her chin at the thought of what felt wrong with Butterscotch's words. Eris drew close to Butterscotch. Bringing her face dangerously close to the yellow colt's. Her paw cupping his muzzle as Eris awaited those cherished words. Which to her dismay, Butterscotch frowned like a child being scolded. It didn't feel right. She knew well enough this was a dream. Butterscotch had yet to even explain his true feelings for the poor girl. Skipping to the part where her mind accepted him loving her.
"I. Love you." butterscotch said. Turning his face away from her. Finding that the words scratched along his throat in a painful way. Saying them purely out of fear. Scared to hurt his friend with his lack of "gusto" within his tone of voice. Avoiding her gaze the shy stallion hid his eyes behind a lifted leg.
This didn't make Eris feel any better. Why was it difficult for a single thought to just accept things as the way she wanted it? She could feel her mind wanting to ease the situation by backing off and apologizing. That metronome of a reminder peered it's ugly head. Through her own eyes she watched in slight horror as she continued with the strict lesson against her own will.
"No. I still don't like it. Say it again!" Eris said with a wide smile. Her eyes making waves of colorful lights flash into Butterscotch's eyes. Hypnotizing the poor colt into submission. Butterscotch's lips fell open as his eyes soon matched Eris's. Eris could feel her thoughts rolling among her head. She wanted to stop it! She didn't want this. This was her old self dong this. This wasn't her. Her inner self was almost set to tears as Butterscotch said those three words. Eris's heart was filled with something else than relief and happiness, but pure dread.
"I love you, Eris." Butterscotch in a drone out state. Eris felt a second set of knocking along her constant reformed one. It was her. Her crying self that was watching someone else do this to the one she loved. She was stuck in this window. Forced to watch it all take place. How was she not in control? Was this a nightmare? The world was perfect for her, yet as she saw Butterscotch fall under her former evil clutches. She mourned it. The world in which use to be peaceful and just how the beloved stallion had loved it. This wasn't how she pictured their time together would be like. She was a better being now. She was trying. So why was his mind showing her this version of a twisted world. Everything was to her liking but the pain of Butterscotch not being there in heart and soul, was very unnerving for her. This was the very reason she waited for a real response from him. Why she couldn't force it from him. To just turn him into this empty shell of a pony. A slave that was merely a doll. Like the one she had cuddled in bed with. There was no difference between the two. And she knew well enough who robbed Butterscotch of his inner self.
At first she denied it. This wasn't going to happen. It could never. The knocking stopped. The reminder stopped and before she knew it she realized this was how she had always gotten things to go her way. Always. Every time. Until that is he shown up into her life. She missed her old ways. Of being magically free and without a care. Would she revert to this again? Her usual old self? Her eyes closed shut and she felt her mind wander around. Her vision blurred and faded into black nothingness. An empty void meant for her to shape. This was a practice Eris had taught herself to do in all her magically chaotic centuries held dormant within her stone prison. A meditative state that always seemed to calm her down during her lonely hours. It used to be as easy as dreaming for her to relax, but n this case the very same comfortable image was her dream that was making her feel uneasy. That very same dream was her usual go to place to within her mind. Now she was avoiding it.
How would Eris find peace again? To her the answer was easy. Focus on him. The one she loved. If the world in it's perfect state wouldn't be enough to help her calm down then it would have to be him. To her surprise, it was all she needed. His face appeared before her taking shape within the blacked out space. Her held her claw and paw and smiled at her. Keeping his gaze into her hybrid color orbs. Eris could feel herself blushing. Sighing out at how this moment made her faun over the gracious host along her fore limbs. Her heart was leaping for joy within her imaginative chest.
"I love you, Eris." Butterscotch said with a slight bow to his head. His pink mane draped along his blushing cheeks as he said it. His lips curled into a wider smile. Which made Eris almost speechless if not for her lips jumping at this chance to reply back in turn.
"I love you too, Butterscotch!" She said jumping at the chance of their confession. Blushing harder than the shy image of the colt before her. The two giggled in succession and Eris could feel her claw come up and brush her white long locks of hair. As Butterscotch led the tip of his hoof to lead his pink stranded mane back into place brushing it along his cheek. Just as the two was stuck there in the air smiling down at each. Confessed perfectly with their emotions laid out. Butterscotch frowned. Looking away at his beloved.
"What's wrong?" The frowning stallion had made Eris sad in turn. Wondering what she had done wrong. Surely this was just an image of her mental capacity projected into a semi-conscience state due to a natural cycle of hibernation. The image made it blunt and told her the obvious.
"I'm not him." He admitted taking his hooves away from it's grasp over her limbs. "I'm just a dream. I can't tell you what he really feels." He said once more holding his right leg with his left hoof. Finding it very rough to tell it to her like it was. While these facts laid along Eris's mind she was just didn't want it to stop.
"I know." Eris said with a tear rolling along her cheek. This was all she needed though. Even with him denying her. This was the world she so desired. Even with everything else faded out of their own very existence, he was all she needed. Out floating within this black darkness. Without anything else. His tender touch and smile. It lit up like a bright star in this endless night.
"Kiss me." Eris asked of him. Bringing the yellow stallion to blush out. Eris's eyes filled with concern as she couldn't help but smile at the cute notion of Butterscotch's shyness. "Please?" Eris begged. Butterscotch replied by bringing his hooves along her hips. Lightly taking her closer to him. Still looking out to the side unable to look directly at her in his innocence.
Taking the first move Eris leaned forward and kissed him by his muzzle. Just inches away from his lips. Butterscotch lit up in a fierce red returning the small gesture with one of his own. Kissing her nose. "Lower." Eris told him. Two parts of the same mind agreed that would have been better. Though her imaginary colt played his part perfectly. Her leaned forward as Eris stood there waiting with closed eyes and parted lips. Giving him the choice to close the gap. And so he did as slow as he was it was a kind motion. Pressing his soft yellow lips to hers.
Kissing him lightly, Eris could feel the embrace of their lips sliding along each other. Smacking lightly within the nothingness that held them up. Eris was so happy. Even though this was just a dream and she was fully away of it. It felt so real. Having half a mind not to wake up. She began to drown herself within her desires that manifested within her mind. Finding calm peaceful serenity within this newly created dream.
"I love you." Eris whispered out. Breaking the kiss momentarily as she moved her lips more and more into his. Sliding across one another. Butterscotch keeping pace with Eris. Innocent kisses filling her head as Eris wrapped her forelegs along his neck. Her stallion taking her by the hips as their kisses deepened. Parting lips wrapping around the other set as their head tilted to the opposite side. The make-out session turning into a hot and heavy moment with just slight touches and kissing.
"I love you so much." Eris was lost in her desires manifested into her dreams. Kissing her preferred version of Butterscotch. While innocent he was still forcing more of his touch along her body. And Eris loved how he was trying to take control while she was busy leading his lips to more of a kiss. Kissing and suckling on each other's mouths before a small whisper began to make her stir.
Butterscotch watched in horror as Eris was under her blanket wiggling. Slight groans filling her bed as he stood there twitching. He had been watching her for almost a minute and she was making quite the scene. He was unable to move, yet for some reason he didn't want to give her the privacy. Especially since he knew she was still asleep. And had been for most of the morning. It was now 10 in the morning so she had to wake up for his schedule he had planned last night to work. "Um....Eris."
"...love you." butterscotch could feel his lips confused on whether to smile or cringe at the moment. It was very flattering but right now it was getting late and Eris was about to miss breakfast. Butterscotch lifted up one leg and tried once more. Feeling the urge to rather just hide in place or else feel the wrath of a pent up Goddess.
"Eris?" Butterscotch said again. Slowly stepping forward to the bed he hadn't noticed and tugging on the sheets. The image made him slap his hooves to his face and turn around. "Oh gosh! B-b-breakfast, ERIS!" Butterscotch said retreating with his backside faced towards her.
The chaotic looking pony blinked within her stirring state and looked at him. Finding that only his back was turned to her. "M-yaaawwwwn! -orning! Oh my head..." Eris groaned out. Her forelegs reaching out in front of her to hug her plushy sleeping doll. Though it was nowhere to be found. Eris smacked her lips and leaned up feeling something along her legs. "Ah?" She looked down and found the head of her sleepmate stuck between them. Butterscoth was there at the edge of her bed turned around and her blankets were pulled off. Her face dropped. Oh why did this have to happen now!?
There it was her reminder of telling her how wrong she was. Going off like a fire alarm telling her the shameful act she had been caught doing, or what butterscotch assumed was happening, was completely wrong to do within the confines of his household. With a sudden poof Eris stood there with the bed and doll completely gone. Though the damage had already been done with Butterscotch assuming the worst. "I'll....I'm just gonna....go! Yeah, better just go.....now....breakfast. Yup!" Butterscotch whispered out in fear slowly proceeding outwards of his living room.
If things weren't awkward enough, now they were even worst after that little fiasco. Butterscotch was clearly running away from her now. Eris pulled on her white like mane and began to hate herself for the doll. The dream. Everything that happened last night. She couldn't last any longer and needed an answer soon. Her hooves released those white strands and they snapped back into place.
"Yeah, great way to wake up Eris. Have your host/crush see you humping a replica plushie of themselves!" It wasn't her fault she had been attracted to the kind colt. Though it was her fault for not sleeping earlier. Her mind rang out in another thought after that single fact faded into her mind. Was it really her fault? Or his? After all he was the one making her feel this way. Making her wait. It was his choice not to say anything. It was him being scared of what to say to Eris. It wasn't her fault she was caught in an embarrassing sleeping position. Butterdoll just happened to be moved there because she couldn't sleep. It must have happened in the middle of the night during her restless nightmare part of her dream. It was Butterscotch alone that made her feel this way. Eris needed something to blame and right now there was no pony else to blame besides her host.
By this time Butterscotch had probably already have eaten breakfast alone and had taken care of his animal friends. In truth the kind host had been waiting to partake in a meal together with his guest. Waiting to sit down and eat with her and try another attempt at the chores together with her to help ease her mind. All of this had been turned around as soon as she "caught" her in the act. Something so degrading that he couldn't seem to bring himself to mention these facts. Eris was grumbling. Angered by the new thoughts in her head walking into the kitchen with her head held low. Muttering out things that Butterscotch couldn't make out, confused at the phrase and whom they were addressed to. Either herself for or for Butterscotch for bothering her. The yellow stallion could only sigh out and felt like he should give her more time alone. Taking piece of toast he step away from the table and exited outside to go ahead with the task of feeding his critter friends.
Eris scowled watching as the yellow pony left her alone at the table for the first time ever in his house. Eris looked at her cold breakfast of waffles shaped in a funny looking smiley face. Adorned with fresh picked berries and a syrupy pair of lips that had already soaked into the bottom half of the waffle that it looked more like grimacing sweet breakfast. Eris poofed back into her normal snake like body an stabbed the friendly waffle in her feeling of angst and aggression. She wasn't having a good day and indeed things were only going to get a lot worse from here on in.
Butterscotch sighed out as he slapped a pair of fish under the bridge leading to his cottage. His thoughts on how his plans to cheer Eris up failed completely as he fled. Same as he had done the day when he found out about her feelings. Too scared to talk to her. His emotions for her all scattered like broken puzzle pieces. They had yet to form a picture in his head about how he had felt about them. Right now the only thing keeping him at peace was his pets that were living close by. Their small tiny smiles and waves were helping as he fed them. Chirps and chitters of gratitude filled his ears as he worked and soon he found himself on the last group of animals. He dropped a pot full of honey next to a large female bear and rubbed her arm.
"There ya go!" butterscotch said with glee as he hovered up a bit higher to get his hoof in place. Now the one single creature that was unhappy with him was living inside his home. This wasn't something he could just heal or talk to and make it go away. This was Eris. The very creature that avoided Tartarus and toppled two of the most magically powerful ponies he knew. Anything that might trigger her back into her chaotic self would most likely be from him. His fears only deepened as time passed by. As a friend he couldn't lie to her. It just wasn't himself to lie. She might also become very hurt about what he may say. though he could see a portion of her frustration turning into the next level of despair. Which was anger. He would have to resolve this sometime soon.
Flying away from his lady bear friend. Butterscotch looked to his clock inside as he closed the door behind him. A half hour pass 12. He brought his hoof to his lips and realized how much he was stalling for Eris. He was late to making lunch. He hovered to his kitchen and sighed out. Taking a couple seconds for himself before he began making lunch.
For the next couple of hours after her breakfast Eris felt like crying and screaming all at once. After the last bite of her waffle Eris poofed back into the living room and snapped her claw. Making a small genie's lamp appear. Just like one itself. Eris lifted the tiny top and was sucked into the golden thing. Inside of the tiny thing she cried and screamed. Trying to vent out as much as possible. Pacing back and forth as she felt her eyes well up but refusing to let the streams out. Her voice carrying on like a maniac. The tiny lamp shook and rattled with faint voices crawling out of it. Lilitha peeked out from the doorway to the back of the house. Where she usually slept and found the constant ringing of metallic noise bothering her nap. Which she usually did after her morning meal.
The white rabbit bit down on her last piece of lettuce and hopped over to the shaking gold trinket and lifted it up. "Drop it you fleabag!" Eris cried out. Which she sounded like a chipmunk whining. Lilitha scoffed and tossed the lamp like a soccer ball and punted it up to the couch. giving Eris a raspberry before retreating to her basket bed. With Eris now a good distance away from her bedside Lilitha could get some rest.
"S-stupid bunny!" Eris said. In her lamp curled up along her tail feeling that final push bringing her tears to slip out. Nothing was going her way. If she were to retaliate to Lilitha she would have shown a shameful side of herself. She didn't want anypony to see her crying. Clutching her tail for some type of comfort as she wanted things to just return to normal. To have these feelings jerked out from within her and go back to just being friends. She had been crying for some time until her tears dried up and laid there along her lamp's side curled up still pondering still thinking it was his fault. That this was only getting worst because he was stalling. She would have to confront him about it.
"Eris? Lunch time." Butterscotch called out. Without bothering to peek out from his usually position by the kitchen entrance. Eris could hear it ring into her lamp and she poofed out of it and into the kitchen. The sudden spark of magic surprised Butterscotch as he jumped at a normal Eris using her magic once more. "Oh my! You scared me. Feeling better?" Butterscotch asked with a hint of hope in his lungs.
Eris could only nod her head in agreement and looked down to see her next meal. A rather rushed dish of sauteed cucumbers, tomato, and carrots topped with herbs. Ratatouille served fresh and hot. While it looked like quite a mess it smelled fantastic. Her little vent out method did help quite a bit but left her questioning if Butterscotch was trying to be polite to her or was only hurting her on purpose. Butterscotch sighed out and lifted up a spoon. Scooping up several bits of food into his spoon and brought it up to his lips. Only to flinch bringing the spoon out as he stuck out his tongue. "Hawt!"
He mentioned to Eris as he blew on the warm bits on his spoon to cool it off. Eris sighed out finding that the one side of her mind had disagreed with her. She felt at ease with how he reacted with the hot food. It was classic cuteness from Butterscotch himself. Eris spooned up some food for herself to partake in and bit into it. Refusing to back down form how hot it really was as she held it within her mouth before finally giving up. Letting the spoon fly back within her grip and blowing the insides of her mouth.
"I told you!" Butterscotch said with a chuckle. Continuing lunch with little to no words. Eris mentioning how the food was "great" and Butterscotch giving his normal "thank you" for the comment. The meal leaving only thoughts and frustrated matted underneath the kind gestures and minimum conversation between the two. Leaving the pair to their inner conflicting thoughts and worries.

Well this one was waiting to be done for a while. I got out as much as I can but still have ideas floating around for this story. Be sure to look forward to the next installment! Which I have a bit of a surprise. It'll answer some questions too! Also i know i promised some coopping material. But with the feedback I've been given i decided to take out the sex label on this story and feature it in another story.

Lunch went off without a hitch. That is if you could say that with the awkward bottled up emotions that kept hissing out at each other at the table. The simple glances of Eris in a continuous loop of silence. Asking the same silly question she had done so just barely a day ago. To only be answered with uncertainty by the blonde colt that was now avoiding her gaze. Their simple bond turned into a rather tense filled relationship. Much like a shaken can of soda ready to burst . Worst part was the imminent mess was getting ready burst out in the open. The bottled up emotions would soon show itself. The worst thing that Eris had feared for.
Each one had returned to the daily routines as if nothing was happening. Butterscotch did the dishes and Eris once more fell into the living room with a flop of her slender body. Her ears still open for her host's reply to her little "question". Eris could feel her ears lifting up, flapping about listening for his voice, yet nothing came. She was still in waiting for a simple reply. Being openly greeted with a quiet stillness that was doing quakes along her skull and chest.
Bored and lonely Eris found herself at a crossroads. She wanted to stay close by Butterscotch when he was ready to talk. With all the downtime she had, it left her busy trying to think about something else. The simplicity of just sitting down like a good girl and waiting for "grown up talk" with her admired friend. Eris frowned at the thought. How could such a small thought control her? The mistress of disorganization. Dear Celestia! Did she even dare think of the word "organized"? She didn't even know the meaning of the word itself. By nature she was bound to break it. Or so it felt like. Just to defend her pride as the Goddess of Mayhem. She sat up and felt some determination grow back into her head.
"Nothing controls Eris!" She said out loud. Puffing up her chest placing a tough girl act to defend her pride as one of the most powerful beings in the land. Though a small snicker could be felt in the corner of the room in the direction of the back entrance. Lillitha, the pet bunny, was covering her wide grin as she wiggled her brow at Eris as if attempting to prove her wrong. The tiny pet curled her long ears into a heart and kissed her paws. Pretending to have a make out session with herself. Taunting the poor girl in her despair. With an over exaggerated display of self affection. Eris's cheeks grew beet red realizing that Lillitha slept much closer to the living room. With just a doorway and a turn away from her last sleeping spot. Lillitha, must have heard Eris mumbling in her sleep last night. Even more so, must have witnessed the embarrassing wake-up session that had taken place this morning.
The chaotic being at first groaned out. Knowing full well she wouldn't get out of this juicy information for a long time. Eris slowly curled her lips into a devious grin. Settling for just punishing Lillitha for even making her feel worse. Eris didn't want to deal with Butterscotch's pet laying it any thicker than it needed to be for herself. Suddenly her eyes narrowed towards the rabbit's position. Becoming like daggers attempting to spear through the critter's body. The shot of Eris's eyes was enough to make the pet regret her decision to tease Eris. The naughty rabbit tried making a break for it rolling her hindlegs in a wind up in the air just before a dreadful snap filled the air. Poof! Just like that. Lillitha was gone in a flash.
The poor rabbit found herself covering her eyes for the unexpected. As she felt Eri's magic take over her body. Waiting for something to eat her or some type of painful outcome. To her dismay. Lillitha opened up her eyes, one at a time, and saw herself seated on Butterscotch's couch? The female bunny sighed out in relief. Wiping her sweating forehead and the fear that came along with it. Tossing her tiny head into a cushion with the rest of her body flopping along with it. Finally able to enjoy her "spot" in the house. With Eris no where to be found.
Eris held up the golden lamp ,she had her little vent session from just hours before, and peered through the spout. Staring down at a miniature version of the cottage they were residing in. There resting along the interior of the shiny trinket with the golden background making it look like a very expensive "House in a bottle." was the annoying bunny laying along the couch. Eris could see Lillitha through a window. The trapped bunny was enjoying her new prison without a care. Never realizing that Eris had trapped the poor pet in a replica house held within the genie lamp.
"That'll teach ya. Should be a while before she panics." Eris placed the tiny thing in her claws down onto the floor and slid it under the couch with a gentle push of her right leg. Eris hunched over her held up arms as claws extended out and tapped along it's opposite's ends. Her fuzzy paws and pointy claws coming together in a evil like snicker. She hadn't had this much fun in days. All it took was one spell to make her feel better. Lashing out had always been her "go to thing" to make her feel better. Through Butterscotch's teachings she had learned that there were other ways.
Coming to the conclusion that if Butterscotch wouldn't tell her, she would have to force it out of him. Once again that ringing sounded in her head. Like a giant humming right in her ear. Eris could feel her eye twitch. The endless loop of misfortune finally reaching a connection into her mind. She was losing it. All because of this one stallion. The one colt whom she had thought would continue to treat her like a regular living being. Not just one of her animal friend but someone with intellect held within her spirits. Why was she being treated like her opinion didn't matter? Did it to him? Did he care? Her mind rolled along in what seemed to be an endless cycle of devious thoughts and of course her newly reformed senses. She had to turn it around.
"Of course he does. He just doesn't know how to express his happiness with me!" Eris began curling her limbs up to her cheek. In which she had to bend her neck down to even complete the girlish stance. Her one leg popping into the air in a cute fashion. Eris frowned a second after finding that this care-free version of herself didn't exactly spell out her current state. Eris poofed herself onto the couch with a white bath robe wrapped along her body and a towel curled along her horns. Her face covered in what seemed to be green goop.
"Just like a man. Making a girl eat...." Eris began with her lonesome, rather enjoying the bit of her silliness of her magic taking place. A bucket of ice cream poofing into her claws along with a spoon. "Now this is a girl's best friend." With a small smile Eris pointed the spoon at the topless bucket of creamy delights. Only for the spoon to swoop into her lips and with a loud crunch Eris bit down onto the metal piece. Stuffing the whole spoon into her lips with a slight push of a single claw. Eris slurped the utensil like it was just as smooth as the ice cold treat that stayed within it's tub. Eris now lifting the snack close to her mouth. With a bite of her teeth Eris began eating the paper like tub which held the milky treat.
"Junk food. I know it's bad for me...but it's soooo good!" Eris giggled as she stretched out her legs. Waving them back and forth as she ate. Staring at them in silence. One long fuzzy slipper covered her lizard like foot as a much smaller one looked more like a coaster with an unnecessary hoodie for her hoof. Her lower claws waved to and fro. Waving back at Eris's eyes. Was she really this bored now? Left to spend her days moping over Butterscotch's apparent denial. "Ooo! Cold!" Eris said as she covered her mouth slurping a large portion of the paper tub into her lips. The ice cream had refused to melt and was holding it's held shape within the container that it was in. Despite the strange site of chaotic ice cream and how depressed she looked, her mind remained in thought. Would she finally give up on love and see that such a creature as herself would be denied it's pleasantries?
Returning to his room Butterscotch could finally have some time to relax by himself. Having finished the second course of animal feeding, left him with some free time to himself. Time to think about all of this. While Eris held her own doubts about their current relationship, Butterscotch was up in his room pacing back and forth doing the same. More so because of their last meal holding untold tension in the air. Butters was between himself. He knew better, but was so between himself of letting her know and the duty he had to uphold with reforming her. Just how far had he gone? Was Eris reformed yet? Even more questions muddled his head as he wondered how to tell Eris. Tell her. To just tell her how. Right now he couldn't decide. He loved her as a friend, but then again there was so many negatives to it. Butters could feel his mane flatten along his head as he laid it along his wall. Too scared to hurt himself he gently placed it along the hard surface. He felt so bad about this, but he knew in the end one of them would be getting hurt. One way or another.
"NO!" Butterscotch told himself pushing those thoughts aside. "I have to tell her! Eris is my friend and that means she will understand. I hope...." As always Butterscotch soon fell back from his sudden courage. His hoof coming up to his mane and brushing it along to the back of his neck. Pacing yet again in his thoughts. He couldn't relax, and he just wanted this to go away. Making her happy and keeping things safe was becoming more of a chore. This endeavor was the hardest yet with their relationship getting to this point. He even began to think about how things would be if his friends found out. Would he become hated? Looked at as a disgusting guy for siding indefinitely with his girl? (Wait. I haven't even decided yet!) He thought out in a panic as he soon caught himself thinking too far ahead. There was still things to sort out. How did it even come to this? Butterscotch laid his head along his bedside. His muzzle resting along the nicely kept sheets. It was better when he was alone. In his side corner of the town. Where no pony could hurt him and he couldn't hurt anypony else. It was just better for him even when he found his affinity to nature. He had decided that a life alone wasn't so bad.
Now it had come to this. Somepony actually falling for him. Sure, he had thought certain mares were cute and attractive, but it was complex. While he knew animals well he couldn't grasp others ponies well enough to be completely comfortable with them. Even around his closest friends he still felt a certain sting in situations. That weird itch that seemed to bother you out of nowhere because of where and what you were dealing with currently. Though nothing had caused the itch. Not a sting or an allergic reaction, but your mental perception telling you that this was just not something you're up to right now.
He had to make a choice. He had to. The last meal looked like Eris was angry at him. Probably due to him waking her up, but it was still bothering his senses. He always did his best to make his guests feel comfortable and that's what he had to do. He strongly exhaled and use this last bit of sudden courage from within to make his choice. Puffing up his chest as his head rose up into the air. Like the true stallion he was.
"I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna tell her! I...." Soon he felt his lips curling downwards feeling that intense high leaving him like a deflating balloon. "...Have no idea how...." He finished. A small whine coming into the air as he frowned. Feeling his courage exit out of him with his breath leaving his lungs. He sat down against the floor and covered his face with his hooves. It was unavoidable. He couldn't leave one excuse and be done with it. He had to sit there and talk with her. To either hurt her or set himself up for things he just wasn't ready for. Sitting there unsure of what to decide or how he felt about her. Sure Eris was cute at times, but then there was her chaotic side. Butterscotch had seen it time and again. Always reverting to what Eris wanted would somehow promote her attitude of a carefree chaotic world. That was the last thing on his mind to even consider, but it was there still.
"Ooooh....Forgive me, Eris." Butterscotch said knowing that both choices would probably hurt her. After all why was he the perfect type for her? Eris had choices. Would it be wiser to tell her there are other colts? He needed more time. Wanted more time. Yet he could feel his time slowly draining out of the precious seconds with each passing moment.
The humble being in the living room was trying her best to keep still. Well as best as she could. Before she knew it she was balancing on a unicycle juggling several of butterscotch's things on her person. A vase, one teacup, a lamp, and a small decorative music box all while hovering upside down from the ceiling as if gravity was suddenly switched around. the floor became the ceiling and the ceiling began the ground. As if it wasn't strange enough. Eris was using her arms to peddle the unicycle while her feet and tail juggled the four objects around. Even this wasn't enough to satisfy Eris as she sighed out, clearly bored out of her mind. Her frustration really playing with her mind now. Nothing helped. Not snacks, not venting out in private, even her magic seemed to be dull. As powerful as she was, she could not find something to relieve her aching heart.
There was a sudden clatter along the staircase as Butterscotch finally left the private corners of his estate. Leaving his little bubble that he was just in. He had caught wind of what time it was and right now he had to set up dinner. Mindlessly in his routine as those thoughts of the upcoming encounter with Eris shrouded his heart. If he loved her then why did it feel like everything was getting only tighter for him? If he avoided her would it all seem to come to a stop just to give his lonely heart room to breath? What if he denied her? could that last one even be a choice?
Again and again his mind played in what seemed to be a recording. Turning into the kitchen, he stopped in place as he got a single glance of his old hand-me-down family heirloom flung into the air. His precious box flying in the air in a circular swing. He lifted up a hoof and could only guess who was playing in such a way with his things. He slowly turned and saw the backside of Eris performing her amazing chaos circus trick.
"Eris!?" Butterscotch yelped out in a small tone as he was worried to death about such an item on her person.
"Huh?" Eris tossed the four items higher than normal and bounced off of the roof. Bending her body to allow her unicycle to her feet as she felt gravity take over. Riding the unicycle normally. The single wheel bouncing back to a normal level.
"Uh. Careful!" Butterscotch pleaded watching as his things hovered into the air and then ,losing it's momentum, swung back down to Earth. "Eris!"
Eris laughed and forced Butterscotch to watch as she crossed her arms and let the items fall to the floor. Butterscotch watching in horror at the destruction of his property. Even jumping out into the open and diving to save his vase. Only to miss it by mere inches in his slide. The vase was about to break when it landed. The opposite happened. The vase didn't break it simply broke the fall on it's own. That is that the vase suddenly had arms and legs and even did a summer-salt several feet back. Butterscotch was speechless as he watched the other two items do the same, adding to Eris's circus trick. One, two, and three. Each one had climbed back into place within the living room flipping and jumping like a normal acrobatic. All of it happening so quickly that Butterscotch could barely make out the exactly forms they took or limbs attached to them. The strange sight was so unexpecting that he was forgetting something. Wait. That was three. Where was his music box?
Eris giggled watching as Butterscotch was more focused on his more delicate items. The way he tried to save them in his shocked state, when everything was alright. Happy to see him baffled by the mere synergy of chaos magic imbued into them. "Gotcha!" Eris called out smiling. Bouncing the music box in her paw. Butterscotch frowned and didn't find it funny to be even chancing his belongings in such a way, even with magic. This little incident making it harder for Butterscotch to accept her love. In truth Eris was only trying to be playful once more and bring their relationship back on track. Butterscotch was now eying his expensive music box. Catching his eye on her paw Eris tossed the tiny box up and opened her mouth. Again shocked by her actions Butterscotch prayed and hoped that Eris didn't break it. Though she did seem to swallow it. Catching the box into her mouth and tossing it down her throat like a regular food item.
"Eris!" Butterscotch said absolutely furious with Eris. Eris placed a claw on butterscotch's lips to silence him and drew her right arm behind her back to pull out the same box intact and well kept. "Oh..." butterscotch said correcting himself quickly as he simmered down.
"I guess...I'll go start dinner. Please don't break anything, Eris." Butterscotch said sweetly. Feeling his blood still pumping to high levels due to the scare of a prank Eris had just done to him.
Eris waved him goodbye and smiled with the box disappearing back into place and her unicycle back to where it belonged. With her ride gone she hovered into the air. cCaddling back in the wide open space with her snake like body. She wondered if Butterscotch found the little show entertaining or not. "I won't." Eris said though it sounded very bland to even promise such a thing. (Why not just buy another if it gets broken?) Eris thought out to herself. Wondering why butterscotch was being such a tough audience to entertain. Usually he would laugh with her. Was she trying too hard now? Maybe it was something she did? Eris huffed out in annoyance unhappy that Butterscotch always seemed to be avoiding her now. Why can't he be a man about it and just tell her?! It was too much. Her heart beating in constant heartaches that were tuning out the slight ringing in her head now. There was no reason to draw out as long as it did, but here they were. She's still waiting and he's still stalling. Eris sat down along the couch and began thinking of how to bring this up at dinner. The hurt chaotic being was tapping her chin trying to come up with a strategy that didn't involve magic or insulting Butterscotch.
With Eris stewing in her own negative emotions, Butterscotch was still trying to calm down. His already heighten state being picked on by the strange way Eris was playing with him. Why did it feel so awkward now to be around her? How come they couldn't just smile about things like they use to. He could tolerate her with simple gestures, but now he had to actually truly connect with his own opinion. Turning to the task at hand, he placed those thoughts aside to deal with the matter at hand.
Prepping dinner was easy enough for him. It was a simple vegetable stew. Celery stalks, chopped carrots, and sliced cabbage in a fine seasoned tomato sauce. He could see his red reflection in the soup as he stirred it over it's roiling heat. That poor unhappy colt looking back at him. Why did he have to be so confused right now? More and more of his time fulfilled with an answer. Before he knew it, It was almost time to set the table and Butterscotch could feel his aching belly. He held onto it and knew it wasn't hunger that was affecting him, but the fact that he would have to tolerate another strange meal with his guest. So he took his time and set two bowls on the table with spoons. Letting them cool with slow flaps of his wings. Using them to fan the fresh soup.
He needed a breather before they confronted each other. Right now the thing that bothered him the most was him not thinking like a true friend, but feeling like he was expecting a fight to stir up within his own house. One he might surely lose if it ever came down to it. A few minutes passed by and Butters could feel his wings starting to get tired. Retracting them along his back he took a deep breath and knew he had to just get it over with. He popped his head out of the kitchen opening and smiled wide. His usual way of welcoming Eris to the table when everything was once set.
"Eris, dinner." Butterscotch told her. Slipping back behind the entrance. Quietly bolting for his seat. Stepping quickly but quietly tnd placing his flank along the flat surface of the chair. Making sure Eris couldn't hear him. A second before he could settle himself in Eris popped into the kitchen with both her legs and arms crossed along her being. Butters jumped from his seat. Startled by the flash of light his forelegs reeled back pushing against the edge of his table as if getting ready to make a run for it.
"H-hello." Butterscotch proclaimed out in greetings. Eris raised her left brow and silently questioned Butterscotch with a cold stare. Without a reply back Eris snapped her claws, to cast a simple spell, and felt herself shrink back into the mare like version of herself. As a reminder that she was just the same as him. In body and soul, except of the course the high levels of surging magic. He was beginning to let that thought slip and therefore it felt insulting to a point for Eris. The good points of them being together were fading. Eris looked completely annoyed. And butters could barely hide his expression of wanting to flee for his life anymore.
"Soup?" Eris huffed out looking down at the bowl which felt a bit warm at the touch of her hooves. Feeling the sides of the glass bowl. Checking the temperature this time around for her food. A simple precautionthanks to their last meal that had burned both their tongues. Butterscotch leaned forward along his table. Laying his head along his hooves, trying his best to look like he was genuinely enjoying her company. Which was the complete opposite of how he was feeling.
"Oh! Mhmm. I wanted to try something a little different." Eris could feel a growl almost escape her lips. Again the conversation turned to food and nothing else. Was this what it came down to now? Forever in wait and she was just there to be fed like the rest of the creatures that stayed right outside of the cottage? Eris cleared her throat, her reformed senses that reminded her of when she was being rude became a slight hum of a bell in her mind. Something else was flaring up and each thing Butterscotch was doing and saying was only making it worse. She knew she wasn't bad guy here and had nothing to blame for the pain she was feeling just recently. Expecting better, she would wait in further agony.
"Go on. Try some." Butterscotch told her. Just exactly how he would treat one of his animal friends. For now she played along. If she had her claws still she would have been clenching them tightly. This was starting to feel degrading like he was enjoying Eris wallowing in her heartache. Eris took hold of the spoon on the side with her hoof and dug down into the contents of her bowl. Scooping up bits of cabbage and carrot. All while Butterscotch watched with a nervous smile. So much like one of his pets. His pets. Eris slowly brought the spoon to her lips. Her mouth parting ways to allow the utensil to slip pass and fill her mouth, with Butterscotch in anticipation. Right before the food could hit her lips. The spoon dropped back into the bowl with a light plop of red soup splashing in the wake of it's landing. Eris closed her eyes and felt that ringing in her head stop. The blood flowing through her body with so much overbearing heat that it muffled that one sound of her being rude. She slammed her forelegs into the tabletop and felt like crying all over again. The soup held in her bowl splashing about making more of a mess along the wooden top.
"Tell me!" Eris demanded. Feeling all her emotions flowing up in a sudden rush. The dam was cracking and now was in ruins as everything collided around her mental imagines of what was a good life.
"No." Butterscotch countered Never having expected himself to speak it out so blatantly without thinking. He had spoken before he could think it out. His own annoyed thoughts taking over, speaking for him. He gasped at the sudden realization of what he had just said covering his mouth with wide eyes before looking away hiding his face along his right hoof in his own shame. His left foreleg laid along the table wanting to hug the table for support in the upcoming storm. Waiting for Eris to calm down. Though he had replied out of his own twisted emotions without warning. Butters never liked being pushed around and even had a bit of a mean streak if it ever came down to it. Things were so bad that he could feel himself reacting in such a way defensively.
"No? NO?!" Eris was beginning to yell as her eyes welled up with tears. "Am I just one of your pets? Were you gonna keep me waiting here?!" She spouted out in a rant shaking her head as she closed her eyes trying to shoo away the tears, yet more came and then it began to flow over her cheeks. Wetting her face. She looked him in the eye and found his ever lovable gaze avoiding her. Much like the monster she use to be.
"You think this is funny?! Huh? My just punishment for all the bad things I've done? How can I be your friend, if I just feel like a prisoner all the time?" Eris stood up form her chair and stood over everything trying to get her point across. She was angry. She was sad. She was so many things at once that she couldn't make out what she was doing right now besides placing the blame on her kind friend.
"You're the element of kindness, then why are you being so CRUEL?!" Eris shouted that last word at him. Believing it to be entirely true.
"Eris." Butterscotch retorted. Feeling his own emotions beginning to light up in a blaze of fire.
"Why haven't you given me a reply, yet?!" Eris whined in her tantrum.
"Eris." Butters said once more feeling his voice rise up.
"I am not one of your pets, Butterscotch!"
"ERIS!" Realizing all too late what she was doing Eris stared at the table smeared with her drops of tears and the mess of soup laid barren across it's top. Her bowl halfway empty thanks to the constant shaking of the table she had just done just mere moments ago in her rage. Things were silent for one reason alone. That Butterscotch never yelled at her before. Not like this. All love and meaning left his eyes as he furrowed his brow and began a small talk of his own. Without raising his voice in volume. He was angry at her.
"Eris, we've been living together for a bit now. And I'm glad that we're happy. But when I first met you, all you wanted to do was enslave Equestria. All you did was turn me and my friends against one another. We almost lost our way because you took our elements and colors away. The things you made us do to each other. The things you did to other ponies and the animals. All the horror and confusion you caused with a flick of your wrist. Then all of a sudden I'm told to help you change. To not only feed you and give you shelter, but even advise you on how to be a better friend. And I'm suppose to love you after you confess to me?" Butterscotch had a point. In their relationship he was the one providing and giving what he could. He was the one sacrificing his own comfort and privacy to give her something more.
Eris was stunned at the Butterdouche moment. The blonde colt sat there his hooves touching each other as his elbows laid along the table. He spoke out from behind his hooves in some attempt to hold back the aggression that was showing, but these were his feelings. He was finally giving her his reply and right now it was as honest as he could get. It was worst than she had ever imagined it to be. More tears welled up in her face that her vision became blurry. Her lips curled in a small O unsure of what expression to make now. She could feel everything now that her own bottle had bursted out. Her tank was free to feel once more.
"I Forgive you Eris. But you're asking me to jump to another level I'm not sure I'll ever be ready for. And you can't force me." Butterscotch said. Pushing his chair away from the table, he took to leaving the table. "I really hope you enjoy dinner Eris, good night." Butterscotch said feeling his lips curl downwards into a frown. Leaving her behind alone at the table with dinner ruined. His expression changed so suddenly as he left his chair. A smile acted as a mask to his reverted calm expression. A nervous tone coming once more back into it's proper place as he brushed his mane in that cute fashion and then turned away from her back to his room. Butterscotch could feel his own eyes starting to water now. Feeling the pain of what he had just done to her. He could only imagine what might become of them after this cold hearted moment.
Eris gazed down into her bowl. Through her eyes that had begun to clear. The last few drops of tears leaving her cheeks. Here she was alone. Staring at her food with a numbed heart. At the hard work Butterscotch had done for her. It was times like these that she didn't consider what Butterscotch really had to do without magic. Without help. Without being asked to do so. He had prepared this meal with his own bare hooves. Through sweat and hard work. Where as she could have just snapped her claws and it would have appeared in place in a fraction of the time her host spent making it, but the fact always fled her mind that Butters didn't have any magic. Only his wings which he used so briefly that they both would forget he was a Pegasus. She always had things her way. Was it hope or her usually demeanor that thought this would all work out in her desires. She was so distracted with her own needs that she never thought about what Butterscotch needed or wanted in the matter.
The ringing had come to a dead tone. The beat was so fast that it sounded like a monitor had gone off. Indicating someone's life had fled it's body. It's soul departing with the machine still intact along the lifeless being. Eris lifted up her spoon and ate what tasted like remorse and depression. Her cold soup giving her sustenance while at the same time tasted bitter with what hung loosely in the air. As if she could taste the mess of emotions that were just on display before them both. Her soup was seasoned with it. Her own bitterness growing even further while feeling the same pain as Butterscotch with a lack of appreciation.
She moved like a drone. Unable to talk anymore and fled into the living room. It was there that Eris slid under the couch and grabbed the lost little trinket she had almost forgotten about. Hugging it in her forelegs. The gold lamp flashed out as Lillitha replaced it's position being hugged by Eris. Eris began to cry and held tightly onto Lillitha. While it was a confusing moment for the bunny she didn't fight back after seeing Eris's expression. She sighed out and patted Eris along her head. Which only made her cry in a much louder volume. For a mean pet Lillitha was smart enough to figure out what transpired just now.
"Oh Lillitha! I'm so sorry! I'm sorry!" Eris cried out like a child that had lost it's way. The rest of the night was nothing but Eris apologizing to the pet rabbit. Which turned into low whispers and then faded into sleep from weary talk and wet fur from tear filled eyes.
Even as Eris fell asleep Butterscotch held his hooves along his own pair of eyes. Holding back what was starting to make his lips quake with fear. Sniffling fiercely as he felt his chest heave back and forth about to cry himself. He turned into his pillow and muttered the same words. He never intended for it to become like this. To have it happen in such a way. And now here they were.
"I'm so sorry, Eris"

So good news. It's been a while since I've posted the next installment to my series here. Also everytime a chapter for this story comes out it hits the "highlight" box in the home page everytime. That's three times this story has been highlighted by the site itself. Bad news. I haven't proofreaded anything since halfway from chapter two. Unbelievable right? Well. I have work to do and I promise to start doing these more. I almost forgot what it's like having fans read your work and it just makes you beam knowing you can make their day with something so simple. So I'll continue. For the love. So keep sharing it people.

A Touch of Mayhem
The night was restless in the small cottage. It's inhabitants tossing and turning. Tired from their mental strain that had recently just erupted into what most would call drama. This drama meant a change for the two. Eris the newly reformed creature sleeping under Butterscotch's couch. And Butterscotch the kindest colt you would find in all of Ponyville. The two were complete opposites and it had been proven just this night. That through their natures they were repelling each other.
It wasn't difficult to see that something bad had happened between the two. The humble was house turning into a cell, that housed negative emotions about one another. Eris was downstairs actually sleeping under the couch with Lillitha curled along her head. Taking the form of what would be her pony form if she was born a regular filly. Butterscotch was cradled up along his pillow. Writhing in his sleep softly panting as he had a strange dream. Perhaps it had something to do with Eris's distraught emotions. Right before Eris fell into her slumber she could feel her lips silently speaking out. Letting out one wish.
("If only you could understand.") Eris mouthed out in thought. Her lungs producing no sound of air, but was a simple gesture laid out played along her moving lips. Than that darkness that took over her mind as she began to dream.ï
Just what exactly was going on? The sun was shining brightly and Butterscotch could see his friends all lined up along a picnic blanket. The strange part about it was the ponies before him he didn't know. Or rather have never seen before. A purple hoof slid a daisy sandwich along a plate towards his position. His usual favorite for such an activity, but it was rather an unwelcoming gesture as Butters cringed in place.
"What's wrong?" Said the mare who looked awfully a lot like Butterscotch's friend Dusk Shine.
"I-I....um... no nevermind, Dusk Shine. I'm just a bit.... surprised is all." The purple mare blinked and turned her head at Butters Direction. The blonde colt held back not wanting to ruin the moment between so many ponies. While the female Dusk Shine stared him down with a questioning stare the other friends of his were chatting away. Like nothing was strange about this day.
"You feeling alright?" The supposed pony, Dusk Shine, asked.
"Y-Yeah!....I'm um.... 'Berry Perfect!'." Butters added using another friend's saying. Bubble Berry, the Party Pony, would often say that when he was feeling at his best on a good day.
"You mean Pinkie Perfect?" Dusk said with a cringe of his own starting to believe that Butterscotch was crazy.
"Somepony call me?!" Pinkie beamed bouncing into place as stomped onto a plate that forced a cupcake to fling into the air. Twirling about in the air before landing into Pinkie's mouth with a slight chomp. "Mmm!" Pinkie called out chewing for a mere second and swallowing her treat.
"Bubble Berry?" Butters asked as he felt himself lower to the floor in his already laid out state. Every second confusing him to where he was getting uncomfortable. Pinkie merely blinked and dropped her smile. Tilting her head to the side at her friend's comment.
"Who's that? Oh! A new pony in town?!" Pinkie said with another bounce.
"I doubt it Pinkie." Twilight said with a giggle. Finding that Pinkie spreading some light into the dim conversation was pretty funny.
"No you're Bubble Berry." Butterscotch told both his friends as they looked at one another. Pinkie into the female Dusk's eyes.
"Hey, Twilight is Fluttershy alright?" Pinkie asked as Twilight shook her head left and right in a silent reply.
"Fluttershy calm down." Twilight began as Butterscotch's eyes widened. This wasn't him. Why were they referring to him in such a way.
"My name is not Fluttershy." Butters began in a weak like state. "It's Butterscotch." He claimed trying to make a stand. but no matter which way he looked at it his friends were stuck in their mare like forms and questioning him as if he was the one that got the whole world around him wrong. He wasn't wrong. He knew his own world wasn't like this. Just what exactly happened to his friends?
"Why's Fluttershy hiding in her corner?" Said a cyan blue Pegasus who noticed Butterscotch crouched low in his defensive stance. Due to the height of her hovered self flying in place in the air.
"Blitz! Please! I'm Butterscotch!" Butters called out in retort as he popped his head up at the mention of him being somepony he wasn't. Sticking his hoof to his chest trying to look like his manly self. Feeling that slight burst of confidence fill him up. Right now he needed it badly as he was beginning to get scared at what was happening. Looking to a white mare whom he had to assume was Elusive. The only other pony in the group he could calmly talk to with all their session together at the local spa.
"Elusive! Please, tell them who I really am!" Butters said in a panic. The white mare looked up from her bag of gems she was just showing off to Applejack and dropped them in place. Elusive blinked a couple of times batting his eyelashes. Or hers. Butters didn't know anymore.
"Fluttershy, Dear? Why would I tell them such a thing?" Butters could feel his eye twitching. Even elusive was telling him he wasn't him.
"I'm butterscotch!" He said lifting in volume feeling his teeth clench in an unsteady grimace. An orange mare stood up from her seat and looked towards Rarity.
"Ah don't think we're helping." Applejack looked towards Butterscotch and began slowly trotting forward. Butterscotch could feel the tension weighting in the air. His closest friends were thinking he was insane at this moment. He cringed back just a bit. feeling his front hooves scoot back an inch. "Easy now, Sugarcube. No need to be afraid."
"I... I-I don't know any of you!" Butterscotch. "You're not even Applejack!" Butters pointed a hoof at the orange mare. Which made all the others speak out in turn of confused questions. Composed of "What?"s and "Huh?"s. The orange mare that wans't Applejack cringed in place. A leg lifting into the air. Actually hurt by the comment when she was defending Butters.
"But... Ah am Applejack." Butterscotch's mouth dropped. When he thought he saw the pattern happening before him. Things changed once more. Only to fall off the path once again. He shook his head. There was no mistake. That whatever he was doing would turn against him. Feeling cornered Butterscotch shook his head and replied out like a child throwing a tantrum.
"You...you can't be Applejack. The Applejack I know is a stallion!" The others gasped out with the proof laid out before their hooves. Their close friend had lost it. The mention of the opposite sex turning the calm moment into one of a serious incident. Twilight stood up as well as Applejack came closer to Butters on the opposite side. Getting ready to apprehend Butterscotch for the apparent trip that was obviously needed.
"Okay I think we should all take it easy and..."
"Wha-! I'm not crazy! You're all changed! You're all wrong! I'm Butterscotch!" He pleaded
"Mental displacement is not a funny joke Fluttershy! You have us all worried!" Twilight said as she pounced on butter's right side. Applejack on her left. Butters was panting in his fit. Why was this happening. His very friends changed and turned against him. All with the thought of him being insane. They knew he would never joke around and so they shot straight to the fact that Butters was actually mad in the head. Twilight's body and Applejack's forelegs taken hold of his own. Soon those hooves melded together and then their necks outstretched form their bodies wrapping around him further more in coils after coils. Butterscotch gasped out filled with more fear than before as he could feel those snake like beings taking his neck.
Butterscotch closed his eyes and let them take him. Unable to fight them all off. "They're not real! They're not real! They're not REAL!" Butters whispered to himself about to cry. Shutting everything out.
"Who's not real, darling?" Called out the female Elusive. Butterscotch opened his eyes and saw that he was now in a tub of water. The grand green feild of the picnic was suddenly gone. Leaving Butters in one of his usual get-togethers with Elusive. Taking a bath with the white colt. Thiugh Elusive was still just a mare. Even weirder was the bath wasn't one of their normal spa routines.
"You're not real. You're not real!" Butters began once more as he closed his eyes shut. Trying the same method to straighten things out.
"Fluttershy, what are you on about?" Giggled the white mare who came closer to Butters. He could feel her hoof press along his chest. Trying to ease him, it only made things worse. "You know? I've always thought you were very cute, Fluttershy." Confessed the strange mare in front of him. Butters open his eyes to see her right there in front of him. Drawing closer to his face.
"But I'm-" before he could say the obvious and point out he wasn't this Fluttershy. The called Rarity pressed a well maintained hoof to his lips to silence it. Rarity kissed his muzzle and soon Butters could feel and swelling along his chest. His cheeks growing in heat as blood rushed over them to turn a faint red over her lightly colored coat. He felt helpless against this mare. She was kind to him. Gentle even. Rarity ran her lips along his cheek and then his neck. Butterscotch turning his head another way allowing her to touch him. Just then another surge hit him in his senses.
"You're not Elusive!" He called out. Why was Rarity hit on him? Why did he feel so out of place. Rarity simple narrowed her eyes in a lovey-dovey state. Which easily sated Butters worry. Just as his peace was found and he accepted the dream in this state. Preferring this one over the last scene. Rarity's eyes grew red and her mouth unhinged. Pressing her forelegs around his midsection and attempting to eat him whole.
Butterscotch sprang up from his bed. Breathing heavily as he gazed upon his room. Taking a few seconds to see that this was indeed his own bedroom. He had awoken finally out of that consuming nightmare. He cleared his throat and held tightly onto his sheets. Taking another second to even out his panting. Inhaling deeply the fresh air before getting up. Staring at the clock, that told him it was early. Just around a quarter till seven. The new sun greeting the day. Butters stretched out and gave out a long yawn.
"Ahhhhh.....Mmm. HM!?" Butters believed that he must have been screaming or talking his sleep. His tone of voice sounded different as he covered his lips with his hoof. "Oh my! I'll need to take something for my throat."  Clamoring out of his bed the poor blonde pony took to gracefully laying his hooves along the floor. Smacking his lips lightly as he passed by his window. Taking in a glimpse of himself. His long pink mane and his slender yellow body. Just as he was about to leave his room he froze in place. Holding onto the door. His lips quivering in what he hoped was just his mind playing tricks on him. His hooves became heavy as he turned back and looked into his window. His mane was longer and he was a bit shorter.
It couldn't be possible. It just couldn't! He rushed to his own personal bathroom and slammed the door open dashing to his mirror. He could feel his breathing becoming uneasy yet again. His eyes scanning every inch. Looking at his mirror than at his own hooves. He could feel himself starting to hyperventilate. He was truly terrified now as what became his nightmare turned into reality. It took everything he had not to scream out in pure horror. A tiny thought hit him in the back of his head as something of a ponder came up. He looked down at his legs and noticed something. He gasped out and felt his lips just stretch out as far as they could inhaling deeply at the pain of what he found. Bloodcurdling scream filling the house.
High pitched just like a filly's and completely filled with unimaginable dread. Seconds later Eris came up slithering into the doorway with Lillitha in her claws. "Nopony move! I have a rabbit! She's rabid! I SWEAR IT!" Eris yelled out.
Lillitha began to growl and shake her head which a white substance hung from her cheeks and chin. She acted as furocious as possible and made it look very convincing that she was possibly rabid. Eris lowered her arms that were extended Lillitha for show and noticed the room empty.
“Butterscotch? Yoo-hooo?!” She called out. Though the only reply she had received back was a high pitched whine from the stallion’s personal bathroom.
“Hhhhhhhmmmmm!!!” Said Butters under his locked door. Wanting to say something though he knew Eris would have a ball with his new circumstances.
“Who’s there?!” Eris called out yet again. Curling her body into the air directly at the door. Cupping her left ear to the surface for the “intruder’s” response.
“Hmm hhmmmmm mmmmhhhh!!!” Butters said too scared to come right out and tell her. Ashamed feelings mixed with grief for the karma he thought he so deserved.
“Might wanna speak up. I don’t speak door.” Eris said leaning away from the wooden entrance. Finding the mumbled whining had gotten only closer to the door. Despite being closer the voice still didn’t seem to form words.
“HMMMMMMHHHH!!!” Butters gave a loud sniffle sound and then a high pitched squeal that made even Eris feel tension.
“Alright lady. If you don’t wanna explain yourself.” Eris began raising her claws into the air and letting a snap sound along the tips in a swift motion. The door had vanished and Eris ended her threat. “We’ll play it the hard way!” Eris frowned looking at a blonde looking mare who had laid hidden crouched along the tub. Butters had retreated into the nearest corner. Trying his best to hide his long poofy pink mane.
The room grew quiet as Eris floated there dumbfounded. Both arms crossed as Butterscotch looked like he was about to cry. It had gotten out. He couldn’t hide it and the one being whom he didn’t wanna see him like this was right there by the only barrier he had to cover his shame and guilt.
Even the small bunny stood there trying to understand what was going on. The whole situation slowing boiling to a point before it finally bubbled over with realization.
“Oh….my….Solaris….” Eris said her lips slowly moving before a wide grin formed along her face. Following by snickering. The growing feeling of laughter filling her gut and expression as she covered her laughing lips. “Oh ho ho! OOOOOH HAHAHA!” Eris wasn’t making it any better as Butters held onto his long mane and hid his eyes. Feeling his welling eyes finally letting a single tear drop along his cheeks.
“Oh wow!” Eris said wiping her own tear away from her cheek. Crying from her laughter a few more spurts of an exhausting good laugh. Now this wasn’t funny for Butterscotch at all. He was terrified and completely confused. Finding fault in the laughing deity’s reaction.
“It’s not funny!” Butterscotch said in a feminine tone. Only rising up in tone but very high pitched that he seemed to regret poking his headup. He covered his lips feeling shy with his new voice. The sound and tone. This wasn't him at all.
“PFFFFFT!” Eris deflated like a balloon after trying to hold it in. Her upper body flying forward as her gut wrenched in a twisting knot of glee. “HAH HA! This is too delicious!”
Lillitha was not laughing with Eris. Instead she stomped her paw and wiped her mouth clean. Gathering the white mess that was along her cheeks and licked her paw free of the whipped cream. Hopping her way to owner and hugging him, or her?, by her cheek. This tiny gesture made Butters smile and for once he felt comfort in her embrace.
"You're not buying this right?" Eris asked the bunny as she whipped out a single hand. Uninterested in how Butters turned into a mare and was still holding onto a grudge for what he said last night. "It's magically impossible to switch a pony's gender." Eris stated mentioning this little fact with her claw curling inwards laying along her chest. While quickly adding a strange phrase to the end of that phrase. "Believe me I've tried!"
"Well... It has to be you Eris." Butters said in rebuttal. "No pony else may be able to do it." The blonde mare said with an inflate of sudden courage. Unashamed of his new filly voice. Thanks to the acceptance of his special bunny. "And you're the only one with strong enough magic."
"And what about the Princesses?" Eris said with a tilt of her head. Giving Butters the evil eye. Staring at him strongly for his accusation. This wasn't something Eris was capable of doing.
"No! Prince Solaris and Prince Artemis would never be so mean!" Butters added. Which made Eris coo out at how cute "she" was beginning to look.
"Awww! You are so cute! Look at you trying to defend them!" Eris said as she held her cheeks together in glee at the adorable sight. Butters wasn't entertained at all frowning. He huffed out in a grimace no longer having the patience to endure this humiliation. Attempting to get up from his laid position to walk out. Eris watched intently as the new butterscotch swayed back and forth. The flowing long mane and tail. Even that pout look she had on her. "If I'm still attracted to you does that make me a-"
"ERIS!" Butters said turning his head back at Eris. Before he even had a chance to leave his room. Butters even attempting to sit down quickly. Tucking in his forelegs along his long tail to hide his curvy butt. He was ashamed of being watched in such a way and right now Eris was only making him feel even more like a fool. He was blushing furiously now. Thoughts about how that question might be answered. Thought his own thoughts smacked the curious idea away. Still deciding on the fact that it would never work with her. Especially not like this.
"Alright! Alright! I'm sorry Butterscotch! Truthfully. I don't know everything about my own power." Eris said as she held her left ear with her right paw and stuck her left paw inside of the over stretched ear. Pulling out her own tail more and more of it slipping out of that one single hole. Like a magic trick with the never ending cloth. This strange sight made Butters shake his head quickly and look down at Eris's body only to find her tail completely unchanged. Butters was so focused on the chaotic trick that he wasn't watching her tail.
"See. I have no idea how I did that!" Eris said with a smile leaning forward in Butterscotch's face.
"I don't have time for this, Eris. I need to feed the animals." Butters added. As always his friends came first.
"Hm. Maybe I should have done my tongue?" Eris inquired to herself which made Butters shiver with how much weirder that would have been to see. Moving onwards down the stairs. His smaller limbs made it feel different moving down each step. His height had changed and Butters was scared for stepping over his long pink mane. He was having so much trouble in fact that Eris commented on his effort.
“It ain’t easy being a girl is it?” Eris said with a cheeky grin. Hovering over Butterscotch. The tormenting mistress was rewarded with a heavy sigh from Butterscotch who could only think about not neglecting his friends outside. Even with his new change the animals should recognize him either way. Shifting back to a proper stance. He took his leave and continued downstairs. Eris in all her magical wisdom, had already beaten Butterscotch downstairs in her flashing type of teleportation.Snickering as she did enjoy the sight of this heartbreaker of a colt suddenly turned around on his pride.
Was it even pride? Was it that reason that he denied her? She couldn’t seem to find the answers or stay on track with the curious questions as Eris was so entertained with this “Fluttershy” having difficulty running around in his new form.
It started with the animals as Eris kept ghosting over Butterscotch. Watching as the animals seem to hesitate flocking over to Butters for a morning meal. Wondering who the new pony was. Though the primal instinct of food eventually gave way and the critters were quick to grab their food and go. Keeping no thought to the new friend. Still weary of his new appearance.
Butters sighed out. Missing the hugs and the small chatter that he shared with the birds and small rodents that ran amuck during there feeding times. Things did change. Hopefully not permanently on him. Butterscotch spent most of his time outside thinking. Asking the sky and clouds why did this happen to him. A slight pulse of his veins signaled his upset nature at Eris for once again causing his distress.
With his chores done, he continued onwards to make a late breakfast. Choosing to feed his animal friends over himself and Eris due to not being able to deal with the choatic being’s constant taunting. A quick layering of wheat bread over some tomatoes and lettuce. Laced with mayo and mustard. A lazy type of spread since Butters didn’t wanna stay too long out in the open. For fear of who else might catch him as his newly bent gender self.
As always, since this morning Eris had been stalking Butters with what he was doing and relishing in his agony. Peeking her head out from the corner of the kitchen doorway Eris poofed herself onto her usual seat after seeing Butters lay out the plate with breakfast on it. She looked down at the simple meal and frowned.
“This it for breakfast?”
“There’s leftover lettuce and tomato for a salad if you’re still hungry.” Butters said trying his best to hold back his spiteful feelings. Hiding it through the indication of what other options Eris had for more food in his reply. Maybe it was his pride that was hurt the most. Being a colt had different things from a mare. He didn’t worry about beauty but more over he worried about his own happiness as a male would do. He wasn’t one for physique but he no longer had his own robust, well as much robust as he could get, body. He had to worry about other things. Like how he would have to somehow figure out how he would go about using the toilet. Now that he had the powerful urge to release.
Leaving the kitchen behind him.He took slow small steps as he stared at the porcelain throne. Swallowing hard he settled himself in the bathroom closing the door behind him. Who was now a her. Ready to face his fear and worries. Unable to hold it in any longer. The lock closed shut and Butters faced somewhat of a nightmare before he would go see his dear friend Dusk Shine for magical advice on this powerful change of magic.
Some time had passed by with Butters’s private session. Taking his time with trying to figure out how things “worked”. He shut the door behind him. Blushing a light pink along his blonde cheeks.Butters entered the living room to see Eris laid along the couch in a very happy mood. Twirling what looked like a white ball along her claws. Spinning and spinning as if she was somehow a pro at a ball game. Eris was smirking in her cocky attitude and snuck a peek at Butters through the corner of her eye. Finally turning her head over to the side to acknowledge her host.
“How was your bathroom break?” Eris gave him a toothy grin. Her single white fang flickering in the light while Butters felt the searing heat in his cheeks flood his face once again like this morning’s discovery.
“I. Rather not talk about it.” Butters said in his shame. It was like he was peeking on some mare when in reality it was still him doing the deed.
“Oh please! Do tell!” Eris opened her palm and the white ball came to a slow stop which revealed Lillitha coming to halt with her head spinning. Now curled along Eris’s claw in a dizzy state. Eris placed the rabbit down where Lillitha tried her best to walk or hop normally though she couldn’t seem to balanced correctly as she wobbled here and there. Falling onto her front side. Butters in his distraught state couldn’t take it anymore. Eris had just been bullying him this whole morning and now Lillitha?
“I’m leaving to see Dusk Shine.” Butters announced finally catching sight of his abused pet. His face scrunched up in determination to beat this thing if Eris wasn’t going to help change him back. She had this whole morning as a chance to make it up to him. But she didn’t even try.
“Whoa whoa whoa! Let’s not be hasty. What if they see you like this?” Eris began finally catching the ball on what was going on.Zipping into the air and curling herself around Butterscotch’s head. Butters turned to face his door and he trotted forward. With Eris poofing close in front of the front door in an attempt to keep him away from outside help. This wouldn’t look good on her personal record and she knew it. Just what would the others think if they realized Eris was probably up to her old tricks. BOOM! Back to the stone ages for her.
She had thought about helping him but she was just too heartbroken to not wallow in some type of glory to make up for the pain she felt last night. In her lack of friendship experience she wasn’t one for making up with another pony. More of her style to get even. And this was as close as she would get to doing so without having done the “getting even part” herself.
Butters was on his last string of patience with her. Giving her a chance to convince him to stay if she was willing to find a way to change him back into a stallion. To help with a solution instead of adding to the problem.
“No. You had all morning help me and you still ended up being nothing but a big meanie.” Butters said. While it was another cute pouting moment for “Fluttershy”. Eris couldn’t bring herself to make a good enough excuse. “Through my chores. Through breakfast. And even when I was scared to death this morning.” Butters told her. Clearly angry with her.
“Hey! Easy. It’s just that I wanted to! I really did! I just...um...just-” Eris began in her own defense.
“Just what?” Butters craned his head up to face the slithering deity. Who seemed to only smile nervously and press her claw tips together in her own amount of shame.
“I..can’t?” Eris said hoping it was good enough to tell him the truth. Eris was really worried now knowing she was giving him a dumb answer to his problem.
“Gasp! HMP!” Butters couldn’t believe it. He shifted his head up in irritable tilt of his head upwards to face away from her and took to flying out of the open doors. Bending low to a nice takeoff and off he went jumping into the air with his wings flared out. His humble cottage shrinking out of sight with Eris left behind.
Strangely enough Butters felt his own emotions were even more sensitive with his new body. Could he blame his hormones or the fact that it was all so chaotic for him to throw him out of his routine that he was stressed out?
He could feel the heat of his breath as he exhaled. Flying as fast as he could. Passing by a couple of Pegasi in the sky. He did his best to hide his face. Though he wish he could entirely hide from plain sight with invisability. He didn’t return their waves of hello or looked their way. Butters reached up along his long mane and scratched behind his ears. His new mane must have been inching him. Great another thing to add to his new self.
All he wanted to do was focus on his wings flapping in the air to bring him ever closer to the Golden Oak Library that acted as Dusk Shine’s home. Time and time again. He ignored the other ponies in flight in the air and flew through the edges of Ponyville and saw the houses that passed by right under him. Scratching his head once in awhile. Feeling the urge to cut the flowing locks that made him look positively female.
He was so sick of it. Being who he was now. As a mare. So done so tired of having to work his mind over and again because of magic within his household. Every since Eris shown up in his life. Everyday had been nothing but a show. A carnival of sorts. And he was part of it. To be played and laughed at. It was bad enough he was treated as such with the other ponies in the town due to his timid shy nature. With Eris, it was a constant reminder why he was so isolated away from his kind. The thought fleeing his mind as he scratched his ears distracted him away from his thoughts.
He had time to think about it clearly. Seething in what could only be guilt for his treatment to Eris and assuming Eris for his drastic change. Who else was there to blame? Who else could have done this that would earn anything from it besides Eris? No pony else.
The troubled colt could feel his heart weight heavy for the one being he was meant to teach. To tutor on how to be a friend. Just what example could he bring to her if he even blamed everything on her? If she didn’t have any control over all of her power then it might not even be her that did it. Much like the pink mane that might be a tangle that was annoying his ears. He could not help but have the long natural pink smooth locks irritate his ear. Butters was so conflicted with that thought that he seemed to think that it wasn’t too late to back away and work with Eris a bit on the situation. Like they should have from the beginning. The scars from their recent conflict of emotions with Eris confessing her love for him were beginning to show more and more. Affecting his choices and thoughts about her.
With the great Oak tree just ahead of him at an angle. He decided he might as well give it a try and just talk with Dusk before he would talk with Eris. His mind was blown with a rage that he couldn’t stand to be next to Eris at his current mood. He would have to spend some time to cool down before confronting her again.
His wings fanned out and he descended onto the front of the entrance to the library. Feeling his hooves land with a gentle caress of the grass and dirt. He inhaled and gave another scratch to his ear before knocking on the door.
“Just a minute.” Called out a voice inside. A colt that seemed to make Butterscotch beam. Thinking about how nice it would be to see his close friend in such a long time. After several seconds somepony opened the door and to Butters surprise. It was not the kind of purple pony he expected. But yet a purple dragon.
“Can I help y-” Barbara the tiny assistant began only to suddenly stop mid-sentence and looked Butters up and down with her glancing eyes. And without a warning Barb simply closed the door again. Which made Butterscotch frown. Was he being insulted? Before he could get the chance to knock again the door opened once more. With Barb doing the same motion. scanning Butters body slowly. This time she leaned up and stared at him with one eye.
Butterscotch smiled wide as if meeting Barb for the first time ever in his shy state. His hoof coming up to scratch his flinching ear. She was somehow placing the pieces together but seemed to not believe it until she really saw it.
“Buuuutterscoootch?” Barb said inspecting the mare with close intent. Making sure she wasn’t being wrong about what she was looking at. “Either that or this is a really good getup.” Barb stated.
Butters replied with a depressed tone of voice. Having to yet again calrify his predicament. “Yes. It’s me.” Butters said dropping his head low his friendly wide smile faded almost instantly.
“But how-? What?! Alright I take back all the girl jokes about you.” Barb added. Which made Butters’s lower lip quiver in such an unexpected way.
“Wha-?” Butters said but was cut off quickly by Barb’s louder voice.
“Nothing! DUSSSSK SHINE!” Shrilled out Barb quickly turning her head the opposite direction. Not replying back to the thoughtless rude comment she had made. Skipping right down to business.
A sound of a book closing quickly filled the following silence as Dusk Shine opened his door. Looking down at the pair. “Sigh. What is it Barb? Who’s...at the...?” Dusk asked. The purple stallion stood there atop of his staircase. Staring at a blonde beauty right at his doorstep. His eyes blinked quickly trying to focus. In the seconds of mere silence Dusk flashed away in a blinding magenta and peeked out of his doorway that led to his study. This made Barbara snicker as she had reacted in the same way just a minute ago. The dragon and the Unicorn on the same boat. As both were not able to believe in the fact that a pony could change genders.
“Dear Solaris that IS Butterscotch!” The two had been around enough magic to know that gender switching was impossible. All of Dusk’s experiments and assignments having to deal with great feats of magic which were usually conducted by other past ponies who literally held more potential and knowledge than any of the two. To see such a result of the most potent of magics was enough to make Dusk flash downstairs immediately to examine Butterscotch thoroughly. Taking hold of the mare’s face and tugging her head left and right. Which Butterscotch didn’t mind. Surprised at least, but knew eventually Dusk Shine would do this with him, or her.
Butterscotch endured the sudden gripping of his face and neck scratching his ear in waiting. Dusk Shine just couldn’t believe it. He checked every bit of her face to catch signs of a disguise or some type of magically induced tag or illusionary trick. Nothing. Not even marks of a curse or some scar from an ancient skirmish in a temple of some sorts. His mind raced with the possibilities of how this might come into play before he even asked her a single question.
“Just how did you?! Who?!” Dusk Shine caught himself being overexcited and realized he was being rude. Not to just his friend but to a lady. He moved back and held a hoof up to his lips and cleared his throat. Catching his composure.
“Ahem! Please. Tell me everything.” He began once more giving Butterscotch room to finally make his way inside. To feel the comfort of the door closing behind him hidden from sight indoors. The entrance being closed by the friendly purple assistant who tugged along Butters tail in joining of Dusk’s curiosity. While she wasn’t a student of magic, she was still very interested in how this came to be on a single pony.
“Smooth move, Dusk Shine.” Barb commented crossing her arms in a teasing smile.
And so Butterscotch continue his story and told all the details of his dream. How he was simple called Fluttershy and no longer being acknowledged as the colt he truly was. How the images he saw of his swapped out friends tried to devour him and how two relaxing moments turned into traumatizing experience.
Dusk shook his head up and down with his hoof ladi along his chin in pure thought. The two ponies sat along the ground in the middle of the Library as they spoke to one another. Butters awaited Dusk’s reply to the ending of his tale and was instead given a silent treatment as Dusk looked over “Fluttershy’s body”. It was hard to make a theory with missing pieces. Perhaps it had to do with something Butterscotch left out. Mainly everything that had to do with Eris’s confession and the fight last night. Even this morning’s little argument about her magical abuse of her powers.
“My best guess is that kind of creature took hold of your nightmare and made it into reality.” Dusk proceeded to one of the heavily adorned walls that were laced with shelvings of books and papers. He pointed towards a single book. Letting his horn glow and that hold of that one book he was thinking about. His magenta glow concealing the precious old textbook and pulling it out from it’s contents.
“Ahah! He we go! The Plaguing Creatures of Equestria’s Past.” Dusk laid the book gently down on the bookstand and began shuffling through the pages with his magic. Butterscotch was a bit confused with the advance wordings and merely stayed quiet as to not look dumb.
“It’s a book about ancient creatures that no long threaten Equestrian lands. The ponies before our time made it a priority to clear the land of certain beings that made living in Equestria difficult.” Dusk Shine continued as if teaching a lesson. Butterscotch sighed out happy that Dusk explained the complication title of such a book.
“This seems to be your culprit.” Dusk Shine said moving out of the way giving Butters room to move forward and stare at the page that read. “Miasma, Tantabus, and Incubus” as it’s first few aforementioned names given to it. Below the text Butters could see the mere mentioning of what this type of haze like creature did back in the days of old. Continuing with his read he saw that this was a night terror creature that fed on the raw negative emotions of a creature. Acting as a magical parasite that affects one’s mental being as to continuously feed and grow.
While dusk had a good explanation Butters knew he was far from being right. Butters could see how this could make a pony insane or even drive one to become completely hopeless and grim. This wasn’t his case though. Butters refused to let Dusk Shine know about what went on with Eris under his care. He wouldn’t betray her like that. He simply frowned and didn’t seem too happy with the idea of continuing his lie to keep up his shield for the deity that caused him so much grief.
“Oh uh….wow! Is that in me?” Butters acted out the part. Denying it now would only lead to a real explanation of what was going on within his life. Even though they were close. Butters would rather keep things private between the two that meant it to be private. Sometime he hated this kind part of himself. Just how would he deal with this little white lie now?
“Could be? Only one way to find out.” Dusk continued moving forward to read more of the paragraphs on the page. Right under the dark shimmering cloud like picture that depicted the creature in question. “They should have all been wiped out completely under Star Swirl’s rein of magical research. Seems like this one is probably the last of it’s kind.”
Butters could feel a sigh escaping his lips and his eyes urging to eyeroll in their sockets from how much he would have to endure to keep his and Eris’s personal feelings secret.
“Can we not try to um… expel this poor creature?” Butters smiled finally feeling a good enough excuse to somehow draw back from his problem. “I mean. It must be lonely being the only creature left?” Butters added. Playing his animal friend bit with the imaginary parasite living inside of him. Dusk turned to look at Butterscotch and raised a brow.
“You come to me troubled, asking for help and now you don’t want it? What’s going on Butterscotch?” Dusk asked noticing how Butterscotch sat onto the ground and smiled cutely. Giving a slight squee sound. The small gesture made Dusk blush. “She” looked too cute trying to hide something behind her back. And the way the tip of her hoof kept running up to her flickering ear to scratch was even more adorable.
“I uh….I just AHEM! I don’t think that’s wise Butterscotch. Have you thought about what kind of trouble you have in your current form?” The purple unicorn mentioned pushing the topic over to another subject.
“Trust me. I’ve experienced a couple.” Butters admitted. Which made Dusk’s face scrunch up in thought of what kind of troubles would make Butters blush so much. His blonde face turning so flustered he could make out the redness that was forming along her cheeks.
“You wha-?” Both Barb and Dusk asked together.
“Nothing! Nothing.” Butterscotch added. Knowing he just mentioned a lady’s unmentionables. He reached up and scratched his ear. This time his forelegs grabbing his long pink mane and brushing his hooves over the long strands. Pulling rather hard until. Something fell out of her hair.
The tiny little speck yelled out back at as it bounced several times. “YOW! OW….NOT COOL!” Squeaked out the flea like thing.
“Did you hear something?” Butters asked Dusk Shine as he watched the tiny thing fall from that long pink mane. Turning to the tiny voice that was yelling out in pain.
“Is that a bug?” Dusk Shine took a step closer to where the flea like object fell and leaned down to stare at it. It’s distinct color of red, green, yellow, and brown made it easier to identify.
“Ew. I had a bug in my hair?!” Butterscotch shook hugging his pink mane. Looking down along with Dusk Shine.
“Sort of. The worst kind of bug too.” Dusk added. “Isn’t that right Eris?” Dusk pointed it out as that tiny figure waved to the larger beings caught in her little snooping act.
“Alright! Alright. You got me.” She squeaked flashing out of place and a second later poofing her normal self into place before the two ponies. “Oh Dusk Shine! I’ve missed you!” Eris clammered on suddenly shifting her hovering self quickly to Dusk’s side and hugging his neck. To where their cheeks were touching.
Dusk shoved his way out. His head popping free from Eris’s tight grasp. “Wanna tell us why you spying on Butterscotch?” Dusk Shine began his own interrogation. Eris’s sudden appearance made things even worse for Butterscotch. She shouldn’t have shown herself like she did right now. Was this another attempt to make him miserable.
“Why! I’m concerned for his health! I mean look at him. The poor thing looks like he’s about to cry.” Eris said with a suddenly darkness swallowing the whole room with a spotlight flashing in Butters’s position. Butters did look like he was about to cry but not because of his female form. Right now he just wanted to keep the situation between him and Eris separate from his magic problem.
“Eris stop lying!” Butters said in a huff. He didn’t like how Eris was handling the situation. Clearly lying straight through her teeth with deceit and tricks like she always had done. His angry overcoming him. This was something he needed to take a break away from her. All the annoying and arrogant things had bottled up to this point where he just wanted to yell at her. He didn’t get enough time alone and the thought of her still spying on him when he wanted to be alone was so despicable in his mind that he just deemed her the nasty little villain she had always been.
“You’ve been doing nothing to even help me! And now you’re! You’re! Arrrrgggg! Doing it wrong!” Butters started which Dusk Shine even seemed to flinch along with Eris. The rare opportunity when Butters actually got angry with somepony was a thing to behold. “You don’t even need to be here! So why are you bothering me now?!” Butters said huffing out as much as he could.
Eris gave a sneering grin. Smiling wide and flashing to Dusk Shine’s side. Bringing one paw to his chin and the other claw to fondle his square like short mane. “Simple! I’m here to confess my love for Dusk Shine.”
The room went silent as Barb and new Butterscotch held open jaws that felt like they were hitting the floor. Dusk Shine blushed furiously and found that he was giggling from the sudden attention. He never had somepony confess something like this to him. Let alone someone with such raw magical potential. Butterscotch could feel his eye twitching in place. His teeth clenched.Wanting to grind them into dust from how frustrated he was feeling as of this moment.
“Oooo! This just got good. I need to write this down. It’s a good idea for a drama play!” Barb said in glee pulling out a quill and a parchment of a long scroll. Butters was less excited than Barbara. Asking himself in his mind what was Eris doing. And why was there a little monster inside of him gnawing on his thoughts that he suddenly felt this intense spite for Dusk Shine?

And enter in dusk Shine and Barbara. The two will help Dear Butterscotch learn a life lesson. That of course meaning they will make things either more difficult or easier for him. The next story will answer more of your questions as to why the characters chose to do what they did.

Another bright sunny day in Ponyville. Ponies scatter about and continued their daily lives. Their little routines of keeping busy and staying happy. Such as the earth ponies plowing the land or planning businesses on the local farm stands. Even Unicorns looking to settle into decorations of large signs and designs, even some tending to several beautiful plants within their shops. Pegasi could be seen flying about in the afternoon sky moving from place to place or inspecting the skies.
The Pegasi of the little town waved greetings to a new blonde filly with a long pink mane and tail. As she fluttered by each one gave their own hello, only to be denied one in return as she hid her face in a timid manner behind her hoof. It made her look all too cute in her persona and really didn’t seem to be as rude as the blonde mare thought it would be. The passing Pegasi giving no mind or keeping a mental note of who they just met and why she acted in such a way.
The blonde mare was Butterscotch. Once a stallion now turned into something else. He was having a bad day that was keeping him flustered and frustrated. His pink mane shook in the wind as he flew as quickly as he could for his frail body.
There along her pink mane by her flickering ear. Was a tiny speck. In it’s own multi colored fashion that seemed to stand out more so over the bright pink forest that it resided in. Thanks to it’s shades of brown, yellow, and white.
“Oh this isn’t looking good.” Eris told herself as she clung onto a long single strand of that same pink mane. Dodging yet another attack of the twitching pony ear. Eris yelping out as she jumped to another single hairline to dodge what looked to be a solid yellow platform that was attempting to smash her.
“Hey watch it! I’m riding here!” Eris said with a snicker. Climbing several more strands to get to her hiding place along her ride’s blonde ear, Which only seem to greet Eris’s face with a gust of wind. Forcing her to lower down right behind the large appendage. Thank the stars that the pony she was riding was now forcing that very same leg to instead hide her own face. Eris peeked out just enough to catch glimpses of how the other flying ponies stared and waved at the new girl.
As entertaining as it was. Eris was only tagging along, or stalking if you prefer, to make sure things would stay calm on her end. She wasn’t about to be hung for her crimes without a fight. Her own personal life would be revealed and her recent deeds reported in thanks to some life drama. She would present her own case and try her best to avoid another century as an oversized garden ornament if all else failed. Most of her worries was the drama bit between her and Butterscotch getting so out of control, over her confession. Her worst fears were coming to light now. It would only be a matter of time.
While she did her best to be reformed she had come a long way with her change. Now her only reward would be a step closer to being imprisoned? How unfair was this? To Eris it was a crime in itself to allow this to happen without a struggle. Wiggling around along the back of Butters’s ear Eris kept busy trying her best to stay hidden along the pink mane strands. Thankfully, Butter’s new mane was long and gave her ample room to brace herself. Each passing moment of the shy embarrassed Pegasus hiding her new self was like a refreshing glass of water for Eris after a hot day. It was simply satisfying to her. Still holding in a grudge about Butters’ reply to her confession. Deeming each one deserving of the pain she had felt from those stinging words.
She sighed out and knew better. The small ringing in her head was suddenly back after so long. Reminding her that she would have to apologize after all of this was done. To save her hide and because she really did care about Butterscotch’s self being. Before she knew it the journey had ended. With Butters’s wings taking a final glide down onto the ground. Eris wiped her forehead and thanked the sun and moon for giving her mercy. Though the attacks from that same trifling hoof seemed to increase. A sudden shake of a landing was followed by yet again another inch attack. Eris jumped away slithering through three strands in a serpentine pattern to get to safety.
“Am I really this annoying?” Whispered Eris thinking to herself, jumping right out of the way of the crushing hoof. Watching as it scratched yet another spot just several hairs away from her. Surprisingly Butters was so caught up in not being seen as a refurbished girl that he, now a she, was distracted hiding herself in plain view as best as he could.
A tap of wood made Eris peek back out from her hiding spot. Now able to hold her head out from the thick jungle of smooth hairlines. Seeing a purple figure staring at Butterscotch. While she herself expected Barbara to say “Hi.” she got the opposite. Which was a slam of the door. Eris had to hold her paw to her lips. To hold back a very loud laughter that was seeping out in deflating bursts of a silly sound. “PFFFT!” Barb couldn’t believe it if she tried, Her whole act on greeting Butterscotch was a joke for Eris's amusement The door opened yet again with a one word seeping from the dragon’s lips.
“Buttttterrrrscoootch?” Barb inquired. Leaving Eris to nod in silence as if she was actually silently replying for Butterscotch within view of the small dragon.
“Yes it’s me.” Eris could feel her whole seat suddenly shift as Butters moved his head about in depression. Hung low as if he was defeated and down in his pride. The chaotic being’s smile faded as she felt a sort of remorse for Butters now. If only she could fix this. In all her infinite wisdom. She knew she couldn’t. At least not with these bottled up feelings. The confusion and rage. The joy and bliss of living with him. Confessing was one thing, but having the same denial meet and greet you everyday. It was tormenting. Worse than torture. Maybe this is why she relished in his troubles so much. She wanted Butters to feel the same way as she did when she never got her answer from him. Was it worth it though? Losing him completely as a friend?
Eris did the same gesture as her host did, dropping her head low and feeling a single claw brush along her white hair. Letting out a sigh before feeling a shake and looking up to greet that same yellow hoof tip. About to drop on her.
Eris cringed at the sight. She didn’t wanna become a squashed mess. Having to flash out of the way about an inch. Eris watched as her imaginary self was crushed along her love’s hoof. Either sunk along the sea of long pink hair or pushed into a messy pulp. All just to relieve a simple itch.
“DUSSSKK SHINE!” Shrilled a loud voice that made Eris cover her ears. Now that caught her attention. A slight shift along Butters body and Eris could see a baffled purple pony standing on the stairs. Only to teleport back behind his door. It brought a snicker to her lips once more. She could read each detail of the confusion ensuing along the scenes around her. Though her smile didn’t last long as the moment she dreaded seemed to come closer and closer. She didn’t have a plan on how to prevent it or how to relieve the tension. Other than of course causing some type of mayhem. Which would only add to the piled on accusations that Butterscotch would confess to.
As the minutes dragged on Eris sat along that mane trying her best to listen intently without being noticed. Only to be occupied with Butterscotch scratching constantly during the conversation. Eris could make majority of the words and didn’t have time to look at the two stallions’ reaction. Though she could have sworn that the story would continue up until Butterscotch held it in the air. Leaving out a single important detail from his story. Never once mentioning Eris’s name.
Eris had about enough of this trifling hoof and snapped her fingers. Letting a fluffy pink umbrella popped into her other paw which seem to greet the scratching hoof tip with a stern hold in it’s position. Surprisingly the umbrella held in place and the hoof left Eris. Thinking the itch was finally gone as Eris stayed perfectly still. Laying her claws right off of Butter’s scalp and hovering just enough to look into what Butters was looking at now.
“This seems to be your culprit right here.” Dusk Shine announced. Opening a book with a wave of his own colored magic.
“This is in me?” Butters inquired. Which made Eris blink rapidly. Why was Butterscotch lying? Eris and Butters knew that this wasn’t the case and had already known the cause. It was simple, yet Butterscotch was claiming something else was bothering him.
Could it be? That Butterscotch was protecting Eris in some sort of way? Eris could feel her heart flutter about, as she slowly dropped to plant herself flat the ground. In fear of floating away. Holding her claws up across her chest. Sighing out in great relief and admiration for her host. A giddy smile flooding her face. Her hero. For once she could actually say that about Butterscotch. She stood there for what seemed to be minutes on end floating on a dream cloud. Until something scooped her up and seemed to quickly toss her into the air while she was offguard.
Eris’s thoughts on how her efforts were gone to waste due to a simple distraction. Taking a different kind of ride that flung her right out of her hiding place. Dropping down onto the floor. Eris yelping out as she bounced to the library floor. Yelling out in pain as she felt like a thrown ball. Though this ball had no real bounce and the tumbling made her unable to concentrate.
“Yow! OW!.....NOT COOL!” Eris screamed out landing along her chin her long slender body following suit rolling along her body and feeling her backside impact the ground. Eris landing flat along her spine feeling stars floating around her spinning head.
“Ew! There was a bug in my hair!?” Yelped out a familiar booming voice. Which could only be the blonde stallion turned mare. The ground shifted and woke Eris out of her daze. The thudding of her tumbling body silenced her surroundings to where the voices boomed out above her position. The last statement grabbing her attention much like the ringing reminder of an alarm that she had in her head.
“...Isn’t that right Eris?” Dusk Shine said hunching his head down at her now. She was revealed now. No chance to make it look innocent as they discussed about Butters’s apparent personal problem. How could she make it out clean without making this any more worse? Or even deter Dusk’s attention away from what really went on with Butters’s magical condition.
The blonde stallion had already worked so hard to cover up for Eris that she too felt like she needed to take action to somehow alleviate the inevitable trouble and controversy they both would become buried under.
“Alright! Alright! You got me.” She confessed finding that the jig was up. Her spying session suddenly over.
How could she throw off the suspecting stallion? The answer to it was simple, and fell right under Eris’s old habits. Something ticked within her head and for once in a long time. It told her that what she was planning was more than fine, but the right thing to do. She felt free from any type of reformed shackles that were programed into her being. As long as she used her skills to help lighten the current situation. Disappearing in thin air Eris acted like her playful self like usual and snatched up Dusk Shine’s head by his neck as she reappeared in her normal size.
“Oh Dusk Shine! I’ve missed you!” Eris said playfully. Playing her part and surprising Dusk with a quick shifting embrace along his neck. Bringing him nice and close as her single arm clutched onto his head. Pressing her cheek against his purple face. Dusk predictably did what she expected and moved away with a pop of his head escaping her grasp.
“Mind telling us why you were spying on Butterscotch?” Dusk Shine began. This was all too easy for her to play with their thoughts.
“Why! I’m concerned for his health! I mean look at him. The poor thing looks like he’s about to cry.” Eris said waving her arms over to Butters’s position to where her magic forced the room to go dark with a spotlight shining on the blonde mare. He really did look like he was about to cry. Though Eris could only think about fending off Dusk Shine off their case.
“Eris stop lying!” Butterscotch said in a huff. Pouting out more than Eris had anticipated. Was all the effort and guilt getting to him? She barely had time to think as Butters continued with his verbal complaint. Shutting down Eris’s magic with sheer hostility.
“You’ve been doing nothing to help me! And now you’re!...You’re! Arrrrggggh! Doing it all wrong!” Butters shouted out. Clearly this uncalled gesture made the purple unicorn flinch as if he was being scolded as well. Eris knew that the pent up emotions were flooding out once more from her love’s lips. Butterscotch was clearly spatting out spiteful words due to his nerves and emotions hanging on a thin line.
While she could understand it was clear that he still held a grudge against her. It was still for something out of her control. To her understanding it could have all been avoided if he had not talked down to her that one night. To make her cry and regret living in such close proximity to such a cute kind colt.
Seeking to gain a bit of payback. Eris could feel a snarl turn into a wide grin. Her naughty little thoughts floating to her expression with no intent to hide or suppress them from the on-looking ponies. She waved her arm and was instantly by Dusk’s side with a small pop of a flash. Her arms touching Dusk Shine in an affectionate way. Highlighting her point across as her reply to the scornful blonde stallion turned mare.
“Simple!” Eris said feeling her claws began to trickle along a strangely styled mane of a bookworm as well as the purple coat along his chin. “I’m here to confess my love for…”
All while Eris was replying back Butterscotch was simply fuming at this point giving Eris a dirty look that was clearly translated as an expression that said one thing. (Don’t you dare! Don’t you DARE!) The final words hitting him straight where it hurt. That ringing that was gone earlier was now pinging her mind like a customer waiting at a desk. Infuriated with the service and trying desperately to grab someone’s attention.
“...Dusk Shine.” The room went silent as Butterscotch’s expression shifted as if Eris had pressed a button to change it. She might as well did as even Dusk Shine seemed to be completely distracted now. Reacting shyly to the confession of love and giggling outloud. Blushing heavily as if he was the stallion that was now a mare.
Butterscotch’s gaze shifted towards his close friend. Which made Eris seem to find comfort in not being under someone’s scope. Though that reminder of her being rude and unreformed was still going off. She knew better to rub her plan in Butterscotch’s face but did so anyway in the moment of anger she suddenly had when Butterscotch did not seem to understand she was once again giving herself for him. The three were standing there quietly as Barb scratched away with her quill. Jotting down notes of the experience.
“Eris. Um...this is so sudden. You shouldn’t have.” Dusk butted in breaking the tension that he had figured to be just pure surprise and awe that Eris even had the ability to love somepony so soon. Let alone let it be one pony that foiled her plans so long ago. The purple pony gently led Eris’s claws off of his person and took a couple of steps back in an attempt to breath.
“You really shouldn’t have!” Chuckled out Dusk who only seemed to be giddy about somepony actually telling him that they loved him. It was obvious and strange that no pony had done such a thing. With his previous past being a secluded student, it had left him alone most of his life since he took up schooling under Prince Solaris. “I uh...need some time alone. Um...excuse me!” Dusk said with a silly smile draw across his face with adorned blushing cheeks that made his coat look an even deeper shade of purple.
Dusk Shine zipped into his kitchen with Barb running after him to check on the embarrassed pony. Butterscotch and Eris knew well enough why Dusk Shine felt like running away. Which meant he didn’t have an answer right away for Eris and didn’t want to hurt her feelings. Butterscotch turned to Eris who had her arms crossed along her chest hovering in the air turning her own eyes in silent retort.
“What are you doing!?” Butters whispered loudly. Taking this time to talk to Eris and figure out how to get out of this situation.
“Saving your patootie!..’Cutie’.” Eris added a nickname at the end of her answer and gave a sly wink at Butters which only made him grow flustered. The fact that Eris was still flirting with him in a mare’s body was just a naughty thought to process and still felt somewhat taboo to him. Butterscotch was quick to recover and shook off the cute comment and continued with his chance to talk to her.
“Eris. I can handle it.” Butters said calmly trying to ease his emotions. To steady himself now that he suddenly had a partner in his little lie. Eris could easily make this all blow over and make his effort for her all but naught thanks to her intrusion.
“Could you now?” Eris mockingly replied back. Still feeling the slight burn of how ungrateful Butterscotch was with her assist. "Are you gonna tell another fib to hurt him more?" The room grew silent for what felt like minutes. Eris refusing to stare back at Butterscotch and the blonde pony grimacing as much as he was able to. Eventually Butterscotch could only hold so much angry until he came to accept the circumstances. Butterscotch stroked his own mane with both hooves and sighed out. Choosing to end the silence.
“Please Eris. I just don’t want any one of us getting hurt here.” Butterscotch pleaded. As if his intentions were obvious. In which the mistress of disaster knew what would really happen if she let little darling Butterscotch handle it, things would be over in a heartbeat. Eris took up Butterscotch’s dainty new hooves into her claws sighed out. To look into her, “his”, eyes.
“This is what I live for Butterscotch. Just let me help you this once. I know I’ve done wrong these past few days, but I can make it up to you. I swear!” Eris said pouring out her own heart. Which finally brought out a result she had been working for in Butterscotch in a long time. A genuine smile that seemed to curl upon his cute blonde cheeks. Butterscotch pulled his left hoof free and wiped his eye of the pooling tear that sat there waiting to be release. Butterscotch squeaking as he felt his voice tremble with comfort.
“O-okay.” The troubled blonde pony finally felt some relief as he finally got the help he was searching for since this morning. His right hoof joining along his left and wiping his eyes clean of his welling pool hues. Eris gave a playful scratch to Butterscotch’s ear. Watching it flicker along her touch as she felt like she was going to get her shining moment. This time she would be the one to save him. It was all going to plan and was now her chance to show him how much she cared.
It was now or never as Dusk Shine clambered out of his kitchen with Barb in tow. The tiny dragon holding a smile for some reason as Dusk Shine cleared his throat. Moving back into place right in front of the little book podium that still had pages open for the nightmare creature he was claiming to be the culprit. Eris was ready for anything Dusk Shine might throw at him. His questions about Eris’s meddling, his investigative approaches with the imaginary creature, and even the casual conversation that would be an attempt to shrug off this daunting task.
“I accept.” Dusk Shine proposed. This whole time Eris had not once been offtrack or confused about anything said and done. Until now.
“You wha?” Eris asked out in a daze.
“I accept. Maybe we can set something up? Oh, say this Tuesday? Lunch at Hay Burgers?” Dusk Shine spouted out as if it wasn’t a big deal. Smiling wide back at Eris who only seem to just stare at Dusk Shine with all of her energy now drained from shock. Her arms going limp as her feet found solid ground, unable to keep to the air anymore.
Butters seem to only hold his eyes in his hooves at the mention of date. Scorning his agreement all too soon with Eris. What was a tender moment of trust and love, turned into the worst possible feeling for Butterscotch. Eris looked towards him for an answer but got nothing and then back at Dusk Shine. Unable to think of something clever. Was this really happening right now?
“I-I-I uh….Oh wow! Of course! OF COURSE!” Eris replied back going alone with it. Something clicking in her head as she was the one who did confess to Dusk Shine not too long ago. Even though it wasn’t true she had to play her part or be found out in her scheme.
“That’s great, Eris. Let me use my weekend to help Butterscotch with his um, condition alright?” dusk Shine said finding the heated glow hit his face once more.
“Of course….of course.” Eris said hovering in the air stiff as a board with her eyes wide like a doll’s and her paw waving in a weak wave at her new “boyfriend”.
Butters finally released himself from his covering position and looked up at Eris with tearing eyes that seemed to be on the brink of leaking from the corners of his eyes. Eris caught sight of this and cringed into an imaginary corner. What did she just do? In defeat Butters held his head low and walked over to Dusk Shine’s side, whom was going over the pages again trying to get back on track.
“Alright back to business Butter- What’s wrong?” Dusk Shine started taking a quick swivel of his gaze to see Butterscotch even more distraught now. “I’m sorry Butterscotch! I didn’t mean to ignore you. Just...everything happened so suddenly and… and. I’ll get to work now. I promise you I’ll find a way to remove this thing.” Dusk Shine said in worry.
“Sniff! No no….it’s fine. I’m just…” Butterscotch tried his best to compose himself though an audible whine left his lips as he continued to cry now. Great! If things weren’t already bad they were worse. They had lied giving Dusk Shine a problem he couldn’t solve. Eris was now in a fake relationship with Dusk Shine due to it. And now Dusk Shine was placing more effort than he should into finding a solution for a problem that didn’t exist. And most of all Butterscotch was even more depressed.
“Congratulations, Eris.” Barb suddenly called out right below the airborne mistress. Eris gave her a toothy grin to hide her own sudden downed expression and replied back. Trying to sound proud about it.
“Thanks. I just,-it’s hard, you know?” Eris told Barb. Which seemed to be Eris trying her best to make up an excuse. To explain that none of this was her fault. When everything actually was. Who’s to blame here? The ponies whose reactions were completely genuine? Herself for being just herself? It all wasn’t fair. Was this to be her life? Married to some pony she didn’t love to protect the one pony she did love?
“What’s wrong?” Barb asked Eris. Trying her best to continue a conversation. Finding Eris’s expression to be the opposite of being ecstatic. A cute tilt of her scaly head and Eris had to reply.
“No. I’m happy. I really am.” Eris said in yet another lie. “I’m just worried for Butterscotch. It may not look like it, but I’m worried sick.” Eris let it out. Tired of lying, of fake tricks, puns, and the hurtful truth. She didn’t know where she sided anymore herself on alignment. Having half a mind to give up this fake charade. She wasn’t even thinking about her words as Barb began mixing two and two together slowly in her mind.
Eris watched on as the two ponies conversed about their schedule leaving Eris to stand aside with her own thoughts. She now had a boyfriend. Though it wasn’t the one she loved. Butterscotch left Dusk’s side after a couple more words and made for the door. Eris jolted up and followed after.
“Hey, Champ!” Eris began trying to regain Butters’s attention through friendly attitude alone. Hovering out the door with Butters, stomping out rather than trotting in his wake. Eris gave the door a shove closing it while she continued with another attempt.
“How about that! The plan worked prefectly!” Eris said with a smile. hovering alongside her back acting like there was not a care in this world.
“Yeah. For you maybe.” Butters announced refusing to stare Eris in the eye walking forward. Not even attempting to fly away from eris as she might just snoop back into his coat again.
“Come on Butterscotch! I didn’t mean any of tha-ahah-at. Ha ha.” Eris said with a giggle. Her eyes narrowed in a nervous fit while she held her toothy grin. But doubt was filled in Butterscotch’s head.
“But you said you would make it better. You only made it better for yourself.” Butters told her laying down a simple confession of how he felt about the matter. Though not fully commited to telling her he cared. “Can I get some time alone please. I don’t wanna make things look weird. You know? For Dusk Shine. And his girlfriend.”
That last word hit Eris like a mini water balloon filled with sludge. Smack dapped right into her face. It felt vile and disgusting to even think of herself as another pony’s mare. She hovered in place and watched Butterscotch leave on her four hooves. Respecting his request. While the day had been Topsy Turvy so was her thoughts. (“I love him, I hate him. I love him I hate him. I hate him! Then I love Dusk Shine?”) Eris bonked herself in the head. Though she only felt her neck and head sway just a bit from the unconcerning blow that held no force. Angry, sad, and now alone.
“Maybe I should just go home?” Eris said with a quivering lip. As another thought filled her mind. Would she still be welcomed in that cottage?
“Eris. Um...this is so sudden. You shouldn’t have.” Spoke out the purple pony who was concerned for his very life and state of Equestria. Dusk Shine felt like backing away. To run for his life as if was being targeted by a weapon of mass destruction. He felt his hooves one by one beginning to retreat unable to keep his composure for much longer.
"You really shouldn't have!" Dusk Shine yelped out. Feeling his cringing face suddenly give way. Trying his best to keep his smile adorning his face. Though the pure fear filling his mind was reluctantly winning. “I uh...need some time alone. Um...excuse me!” Quickly turning from his spot, he ran to his kitchen. Hearing the faint steps of his dragon assistant follow after.
The poor purple pony ran under his table and was breathing heavily. His chest puffing out so much so, that he was imitating a pufferfish. Dusk felt like a nervous wreck. Holding his head in place as he curled up in his hiding place. Barb ran towards the table they ate on so many times over and poked her head into Dusk's personal bubble. "You alright?" Barb asked with concerned.
"Alright? Alright?!" Dusk Shine said with a hush like shout back at Barb, as to not alert his guests to his distress. "What do you think?! My greatest enemy just confessed her love for me! This has got to be some trick. Some plot to destroy all the books in the library or something!" Dusk spouted out nonsense from just how afraid he was at Eris right now. While flattering the confession, it was still driving him up the wall. Unable to think logically as he was now the catalyst of the doom of Equestria or it's savior. Dusk could feel his teeth clenching down on what felt like a very thin material that seemed to be his soul trying to leave his body. His mind over exaggerating his fears in his mind as he held onto his mouth like it would really happen to him. Anything was possible with chaos, so he wasn't ruling that possibility out with Eris.
Barb held up her little clawed hands and spoke out in a calm voice. "Alright, calm down now. It's probably nothing." Acting as the voice of reason for her dear friend.
"NOTHING?!" Dusk Shine let it out quite loud as his hooves gave way to the sound. He stuffed a hoof into his mouth and let Barb speak her piece.
"Look!" Barb said rubbing the bridge of her nose. Mostly from how clueless Dusk was with women. "Eris probably means good this time." Though Barb tapped her chin now and gave a half-hearted smile as that usually wasn't the case with her. "If she really means it. Then it's up to you to make sure she doesn't go crazy again, got it?"
"What? But I can't-you can't mean! No!" Dusk Shine said in a whisper. Retaliating as best as he could. Even with Barb's logic this was all too insane. Better to be off and turn her back to stone so he could focus on other things. Even if it was against what Solaris had wanted and ordered them to do.
"If anything else fails and she's up to something, we still have Butterscotch to keep her in place. The alternative being you break her heart and she-" Barb continued shrugging her shoulders, showing how this didn't seem to scare her much. Until her face froze in fright at an angry Eris. Dusk Shine stopped her there as his eyes stared off into the distance of what responsibility laid upon his shoulders now. Adding to Barb's statement.
"-Could mean the end of everything." Dusk's eye twitched at his last and only resort. To swoon this potential end of the world and keep her in check. even if their relationship failed it only meant a step closer to reforming her. There was more negatives to denying the poor jumbled being, than actually giving it a try. Dusk finally calmed down feeling his chest come out in display of the bravery need to take on this obstacle. Then it faded as he held onto one of the table's legs.
"Please don't make me." Dusk Shine whined now like a child. Unable to get up. Barb huffed out and rolled up her arms in a showing of determination. Tugging on Dusk Shine. "Come on! Get out there! Equestria need-needs-y-YOU!" Barb grunted out pulling on one purple leg. After a couple of pulls with his tail Barb gave up and turned to leave him.
"If you won't then I'm telling her it's not happening!" Barb warned Dusk Shine. Knowing too well how badly one can feel holding their feelings back. A certain white stallion rose up into her head, somepony whom she never had a chance with due to species. Now she felt obligated to help Eris get her own stallion.
"Ugh! Fine." Dusk Shine finally gave up rolling his eyes and standing up. Huffing out on his hoof and smelling his breath as Barb seemed to pop up in excitement. Brushing Dusk's mane quickly with her claws. "How do I look?" Dusk regretfully asked Barb, who was now on his back doing more of his mane. The tiny Dragon gave a thumbs up and gave him and encouraging smile.
"Like a hero!" Barb told him. Dusk's neck craned low as he trotted out. An inch before showing his face he straightened up and created an act that would shatter worlds. Making things more complex with a special connection.

New's Year Resolution is Trutsworthy. Last year I haven't been keeping my promises. So I wanna do something to make myself better this year of 2016 by literally living by the virtue of trust and faith. Unlike most people. Remedy here likes to choose virtues or moral traits to improve. So this year has been faith and trust. Since I've done horribly to keep most of my promises. So why am I telling you this. It's because I want you to know that comments keep me alive. Let me know what you love, what you want to read, what you didn't like. Help me improve so that I can continue to write and have a purpose. Do that. And I promise you by the so called resolution that binds me. I will write it! Enjoy this chapter. Because right now. It will be a start of a comeback for me.
