The six million dollar girl

Prologue: Boom

The day started off innocently enough, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping... a perfect Spring morning. I was walking towards the town fish pond to feed the ducks, a stale loaf of bread in my hands to feed ducks.

Sitting at the pond's edge were a few of my friends, Applebloom, Silver Spoon, and Scootaloo, obviously having a heated debate about something.

"-Telling you that it doesn't matter how strong The Bulk is, he can't lift Zeus' quiver or bow!" Scootaloo yelled.

"But what if he was holdin' Zeus while he held them?! Th' transistive property!" Applebloom yelled back, throwing her arms in the air.

Silver Spoon sighed "'Transitive', the word you're looking for is 'Transitive'. Anyways, why are you two even arguing about this? BC are better than Maverick by a long shot."

I sat next to Silver "I don't care either way, I just like comics. And like Silver said, why does it matter?"

Both girls turned to me, giving me glares "It matters because she's wrong!" they yelled in unison before getting into a shouting match about who was repeating who.

"They should just fuck already, like their sisters are... is it wrong if two pairs of sisters are dating each other?" Silver asked, contemplating.

"All I know is that I'm not going to get to feed any ducks today with those two fighting. Where's Sweetie by the way? She usually breaks up these fights."

"Sick with a cold, so we're stuck with Tweedle dee and Tweedle dumdum over there."

I sighed "Well, that's possibly the only thing that can go wrong today right?"

Silver shrugged "Hope so, otherwise we'll need to drag Sweetie out of bed and make her work her cold off."

I laughed, imaging her looking pitiful and trying to fix the other two "Yeah, this is going to be the low point of my day."

I had no idea how monumentally wrong I was. I was so, so wrong.

After a few minutes Scootaloo and Applebloom fell into the pond, still thrashing like alligators.

We went to their houses to get a change of clothes when Silver had the idea to go and see Sweetie Belle afterwards.

I said that I wanted to go get something from my room to bring her, heading back to my mansion.

I regret that most of all. It was that action that sent me hurtling down this path I'm stuck on.

I was walking up the path to my mansion when I heard a strange whistling coming towards me.

I looked up at the source, and my mind shut down.

A missile with a mad smile on it was heading right towards me.

I tried to jump out of the way but I was too slow I guess.

I woke up numb, two blurry figures standing above me, one that looked like my dad and another I couldn't recognize.

I don't care about how much it costs, make my daughter better!" my dad yelled, shaking the other person.

"S-t-o-p s-h-a-k-i-n-g m-e!!" the other person yelled, obviously male.

After my dad let go the other person shivered "Okay, I am about to say something I have always wanted to say ever since I was a kid. Diamond Tiara, Heiress. A girl barely alive, gentlemen, we can rebuild her. We have the technology. We have the capability of creating the world's first bionic girl."

My father groaned as he continued "Diamond Tiara will be that girl. Better than she was before. Better, stronger, faster...

"She will be, the six million dollar girl." he finished with a flourish.

My father stared at him "Was that necessary?"

"Yes, I have succeeded in checking off an item on my bucket list." he replied and looked over at me "... She's awake."

My dad rushed over before the other man stopped him "It would be best if you didn't touch her, she is very weak and needs to be kept in a sterile environment. You can talk to her though."

My father nodded and looked down at me, a weak smile on his face "Hey princess... I know you must be confused right now but you had a terrible accident and this doctor will make you better. I know he will, just trust in him and stay strong, can you do that?"

I try to nod but my body doesn't respond, my mouth seeming to be sealed shut.

He smiles and steps away "You will make her better, right?"

The doctor nods "Of course, now please leave me and my co-workers to work."

Everything fades to black as I lose consciousness.

I don't know how long I was out for, but it felt like days, when I woke up I was still numb and everything was blurry.

The figure of the doctor moves closer, a smile on his face "Welcome to the future."

"... Wha..." I mutter, my mouth dry and numb like the rest of me.

He laughs, a mad cackle that scares me "Sorry, I couldn't resist making a joke. How do you feel?"

"... Numb..."

He nods "Understandable, I mean we don't have you on a morphine *drip per se... but a morphine pump... so yeah, the fact that you are talking means that you might not need it anymore."*

I try and blink but my eyes are glued half-open .

"I wouldn't try to do too much, you're still recovering and we need you conscious for when we apply the prosthetics... do you know what happened?"

"... Explosion..."

He nods "Yeah, a guided missile that you intercepted. It would've hit your home but fortunately and unfortunately, you blocked it. With your body. Not the most advisable life choice but incredibly noble."

I try to glare at him but I can't move my face.

he sighs "Look, I'm not going to sugarcoat what had to be done to let you live. 89% of your body was incinerated, shredded, or destroyed. In most conventional medicine, you were beyond dead, but luckily, we had you on life support and had to wait a while before we could even start on surgically replacing your brain with what we were able to copy from your psyche and your last MRI. Which, luckily, was last week for you, about two months for the rest of us."

I widen my eyes in shock, and try to say something but he shakes his head "I know that what I'm saying is shocking, but trust me when I say that you are more than beyond lucky. Everything, excluding the rocket of course, aligned perfectly for you. That and... I owed your father a large debt of gratitude for saving *my life." he sighs "I'm so very sorry, but this was the only way. And now... we attach your left leg."*

I strain my eyes to make out details and what was held in his hand *looked like my leg from mid-thigh down, (Diamond formation of moles and all.) but had a soft looking interior where a number of holes were.*

"Ever seen 'Iron Rithmatist'?"

I attempt to nod and he smiles "Well.. this is kind of like that." he lines up the leg with what I assumed was left of my leg and a jolt of intense pain shoots through my body, as if he put live leads to my nerves (Which, I later found, was *practically what happened.)*

He winces and the pain stops as the sound of metal on metal and an electronic trill of countless frequencies fills the room "Okay! Fused! Sorry! I should've warned you... better. Warned you *better."*

I glare at him and he shrugs "Well, that's one down..."

For the next two hours he attached my prosthetics and each time I could feel through them. I could feel my toes move.

After wards, I was tired and passed out, which the doctor tells me is natural.

I awoke several hours later and he smiled, a pair of my khakis and a long T-shirt in his hands "Ah, she awakens. So... do you want help dressing or can you hand it?"

"Isn't it a bit early to- I can talk!" I gasp and feel my mouth but something's off. I can't *taste my right hand.*

He stares at me with interest "Huh, I suppose taking you off the morphine when you passed out helped. So... You've only got a pair of underwear and a brassiere... I'll leave you to dress." he starts to whistle as he leaves, leaving me to ponder why I could taste the left hand, but not the right.

I blink and move through the usual waking motions and find that I felt...

"Normal... was... it all a dream?"

I look at my arms and legs and they look the exact same as when I had woken that day, no seams or anything like what a prosthetic would have.

I walk over to the bathroom connected to the room and look into the mirror.

Staring back at me is a paler, thinner version of myself and my hair wasn't styled and cascaded past my back. I open m,y mouth and make a number of noises and motions, trying to find something different.

Just as I think I've been tricked by that doctor, I notice something.

I have *two left hands.*

I shriek and the doctor enters, and slaps his forehead "Ugh! I forgot to replace that one! I wrote myself a note and I still forgot! I'm so sorry."

I whip around and he shields his eyes "Clothes."

I blush and grab the clothing, throwing them on and he removes his hands "Okay... obviously the fact of you having two left hands it completely my fault. I had a number of spares and grabbed two from the same container and attached them..." he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a right hand "Allow me to give you a hand."

I flip him two left birds and he laughs "I'm sorry, I just love puns. Anyways..." he pulls a small odd looking key and presses it into my wrist "OW! That hurts!!"

"Of course it does, now-" my second left hand falls into his other hand and he places the right hand on my wrist and the sound of all of those frequencies from before fills the room and I can feel my hand as if it had always been there "How did you do that?"

He smiles "It's complicated, bio-engineering, nanotech, bioelectricity... several other things that I can't *begin to explain... and a bit of magic."*

I stare at him, flexing my wrist "Magic?"

He nods and motions behind himself "Shall we?"

I nod and follow, this is how I became what I am.

The six million dollar girl.

God I'm a nerd.
