Rainbow Dash goes to a Michael Jackson Concert
...Michael Jackson? He doesn't sound very 'Cool'
It was a nice, sunny morning in Ponyville. Perfect for flying around, practicing aerial tricks and just generally improving your already awesome flying skills.
"Alright, Rainbow Dash, prepare for an awesome day of being awesome!" Rainbow announced loudly to anypony who happened to be passing by, "I can't wait to-"
"Hey Rainbow Dash!" A familiar voice interrupted her self-indulged narration,"Can you come down here?" Rainbow sighed and muttered to herself as she slowly flew down from the cloud she had been standing on and landed on the ground, right next to Twilight Sparkle herself. "Hi Rainbow-"
"Hello Twilight, your royal highness"
Twilight rolled her eyes and continued,"I was just coming by because Rarity got tickets to go to a very important concert, I mean, it's so rare that Celebrities tour in Ponyville, you know, and I was wondering if you wanted to come with us."
Rainbow just rolled her eyes as well and just said, "Really? You're asking ME about this? Don't you think that maybe Pinkie or even Applejack, you know, depending on who's playing, would rather go? I was going to practice my awesome flight skills today....so...aw..gotta go.....bye!" Rainbow was about to take off, but Twilight stopped her,
"Actually, based on who's playing, I think you'd be enjoy it more than AppleJack, or obviously Fluttershy, and Pinkie is busy doing....something with the Cakes, she didn't exactly specify." Twilight informed her, "Something about 'Cupcakes'. Anyway -"
"Oh yeah, then who's playing?" Rainbow asked, irritation creeping into her voice.
"Michael Jackson, I'm sure you've probably heard of him." Twilight answered, trying to her hardest to sound impressive.
"No idea, and really, I DON'T CARE!" Dash was at the point where she felt the conversation was too long, and wanted to end so badly, she would start just becoming rude just to finish it abruptly and, most likely, awkwardly.
"But this is the most important event in Ponyville since the Summer Sun Celebration!" Twilight complained, stomping her hoof in the dirt, "Besides, Rarity spent so much time and effort trying to get a deal for front row seats and Backstage Passes!"
"Well, when you make it sound impressive that she got slips of paper, then.....maybe....uhhh...I guess I can, but what time do I have to be at.......?"
"Carasol Boutique, 7:00"
"Right." Rainbow felt only mildly irritated that she had hastily agreed to go, just to get Twilight out of her face.

Rainbow Dash arrived at Rarity's place and knocked on the door. "Come on in, dear" Rarity called from inside. Rainbow trotted in and looked around. Rarity was standing by her stage, observing an outfit that Twilight was wearing. It was a short, simple purple dress that wasn't all that flashy. Rainbow walked over and asked,
"Do I have to wear a dress?" She whined.
"Well..." Rarity began, "This is a formal event, but I do know how much you despise dresses, so I made you something.....else." She trotted down the stairs of the stage and over to her closet, peeking in for a few moments before coming out with a black suit (That was Way too obviously based off a stallion's suit) and showing it to Rainbow Dash.
"That literally looks more itchy and uncomfortable than a dress...like....literally" Rainbow commented, honestly (But then again, Rainbow's honesty is not usually kind to the pony it's directed at).
"Will NOTHING please you?" Rarity growled, glaring at her, in a very scary way, getting her point across without even having to say another word.
"Fine...I'll...wear it, I guess" Rainbow reluctantly agreed. She stood still as Rarity used her magic to slip on the suit, and button up the little, tiny buttons on the ends of the sleeves. "Well, at least this doesn't have...like a tie or something." She tried to be positive and not scratch her particularity itchy flank at that second.
"Well, it did before I adjusted it. Alright, now that you two are dressed, I'll go get mine on." Rarity stated as she levitated her dress over to the dressing room, (because she insisted on using it), and closed the door. She came out a few minutes later wearing a dress a little more flashy than Twilight's, but still surprisingly plain. "Well then, don't just stand there gawking! I made this dress simple because I figured, well, the seats may be too small for a HUGE, poofy dress, so I made it simpler. Now, come along." Twilight and Rainbow glanced at each other, and they could both tell that the other was thinking the same thing.....
"Really? That's your excuse? Whatever."
About 30 minutes later, the three mares arrived at the town hall, where the concert was taking place.
"Wow." Twilight breathed as she looked around, "They really fixed this place up." And it was true, there were stage lights, decorations, and what had to be a thousand nice, not cheap fold-out seats, but soft, fluffy pillows.
"Well, I gotta admit, this place does really look nice." Rainbow said as she surveyed the area. The trio eventually found the entrance to the seating area, guarded by two security ponies.
"Tickets, please." One of them said in a gruff voice. Rarity levitated the tickets into his hoof, and after a short investigation, he marked them and said, "Row One, Seats 14, 15, and 16."
Rainbow could tell that Rarity and Twilight were super jumpy as they got closer to the front row. She really didn't understand why, as, in her opinion, concerts were just ponies singing at a lower quality than it you heard them on a record or something. Besides, it's not like they do....like awesome dance moves or anything...
When they got to the front, there was another security pony, presumably there so ponies didn't just sit down in the front row whenever they felt like it.....or start fighting to try and sit there. He looked at the tickets for a brief moment, then allowed the mares to sit down. Rainbow had just sat down when she heard a familiar voice next to her, "Hey, are you Rainbow Dash?!" It exclaimed, obviously surprised. At first, she thought it might be Scootaloo, but then she realized that the voice was male. She turned her head, only to see Cheese Sandwich sitting next to her,
"Cheese!?" She exclaimed, "What are you doing here?"
"Well, I came to see my buddy Michael perform, duh!" He answered, "I remember when I first asked him to parody 'Beat it', aww.....I was so nervous, but I'm glad I did it, because without him, I never would have become famous!"
"Wait, you've met Celebrities before?" Rainbow asked, confused.
" 'Course I have, I mean-"
"Shhhhh! The show's about to start!" A mare sitting next to Cheese cut him off. "Alright, Rainbow thought, Let's see why this is so important that I can't just skip it and have a GOOD time. "
Rainbow Dash goes to a Michael Jackson Concert
The lights dimmed and the only noise was members of the audience shushing each other for a few seconds. Rainbow shifted in her seat awkwardly as the background music started off in a funky disco beat, and she found herself kinda enjoying it. Eventually, when a pony trotted onto the stage and into the spotlight, she felt her wings shuffle on her back for a second, most likely in protest of her enjoyment on what was usually considered 'uncool' music, but she shrugged it off and listened to the song. He began with a soft, but still well audible introduction. The stallion had a smooth, but strong voice, and Rainbow got lost for a second, seeing all the awesome lights, smoke machines and the way he moved so smoothly. Then, a few seconds and lyrics later, he stood up on hind legs, surprising Rainbow, as even she couldn't stand up on her hind legs without shaking or falling over, but this guy did it without even shaking once.
"Don't stop 'till you get enough!" He sung, without a hint of a care that about 1,000 ponies were staring at him.
"Wow," Rainbow said to herself, as Michael (That is what Twilight said his name was, right?) actually began to do some awesome moves that she couldn't even describe because they didn't even fit into pony anatomy!
"Enjoying yourself?" Rarity whispered to Rainbow, who immediately saw this as a mocking of her 'Good Name' and jumped to her defense,
"Of course not!! This is so boring and stupid! I mean...... DISCO MUSIC??!!" She burst out a little too loudly. Luckily, none of the security ponies were nearby at the moment, but it just so happened that Michael was right in front of them at that point, and he looked a little shocked for a second, but them looked out to the audience and smiled at everypony, obviously trying to act like he didn't care. Rainbow quickly covered her mouth with a hoof, and looked over at Twilight, who had a smirk on her face that said only one thing: I know you like it, Rainbow.
A few minutes later, Cheese looked over at her and asked, "Hey, um..what was that about?" Before answering, Rainbow glanced over at Twilight and Rarity, who were looking back at the stage before leaning over to Cheese and whispering in his ear,
"OK, between you and me, this guy is SO AWESOME! Seriously, but I guess I should have said that, instead of, you know, insulting a clearly awesomely talented stallion literally to his face, but whatever, I didn't mean to!" Cheese sighed, but he knew she was secretly asking him what to do, so he replied,
"Well, did you get backstage passes?"
"Yes, but, wait a second! Where did that question come from? What would you have done if I said No?!"
"Well, you said Yes, not No. Anyway, what I think you should do is after the show, go to Michael and apologize, and make sure he knows that you didn't mean to shout 'This is so boring' to one of Equestria's most amazing performers." He said honestly. "And, um..you really should do that, 'cause, he's got..............like......complications going on in his life, that...uh...may lead him to actually believe what you said."
"What do you mean, complications?" She groaned, before realizing the song was near the last few seconds, and as the sound faded away, Rainbow wondered what she could do. She certainly WASN'T going to walk up to a random celebrity and apologize for something she clearly didn't mean, but then again, why shouldn't she? "I mean, it's not like I'll be mocked endlessly for apologizing to somepony who didn't do anything to make me yell about his hard work and performance being 'Boring'" She argued with herself untill she heard the clacking of drumsticks, and a pony, presumably the conductor of the band, say,
"One!...Two!...Three!" The music started out Way different from the other song. It sounded like a loud, creepy base was doing most of the music, which it probably was. Rainbow had to admit, though the last song had been cool, this sounded scary (and, admittedly about 20% cooler)! There were wolves howling in the background and thunder sound effects that were being played at full blast! She saw Michael stalk across the stage acting like he had a limp and wearing a torn, red vest. He grabbed the mic and started to sing, in an almost haunting way. One thing was for sure: This would be an awesome song to play on Nightmare Night. "Wonder if i should mention that to Pinkie, I mean she is in charge of the Nightmare Night soundtrack..."
"Psst....Twilight...." Rainbow whispered, about thirty seconds later, "This song sounds really awesome!"
"Well, Rainbow, you don't have to whisper." She replied, "Almost everypony here is a fan of this guy, so it's not like any of them will think it's odd if you like it."
"Well, I just want to make sure nopony who thinks I'm 'Cool' sees me here, you know, in case it ruins my reputation for them."
"First of all," Twilight started, eager to prove Rainbow's (obviously) flawed logic wrong,"If they were here, it would most likely mean they were a fan of Michael too, so they would probably like you more if they saw you here, you know, they'd think you are a fellow fan and all that........ And second of all, if they magically hate you for coming here, them why is it worth it to try and impress them anyway?" Rainbow thought about it. Twilight made good points and really knew how to win a logical battle, almost to the point where it was obnoxiously evident that she must have studied "How to Win an Argument: Advanced Guide". Seriously. One day, when Rainbow was forced to help Twilight reshelve the library, and she found a book of the same title. IN HER 'READ AGAIN' PILE!! She gagged at the memory for a second, before jumping in her seat as a haunting voiceover began to take over the song, while Michael sang the back-up part.
'Wow," Rainbow thought, "You know, I wonder if AJ would like this....Actually, after the 'Bats' incident, I'm sure she would, because, apparently, now she's into creepy music."
The narration ended in maniacal laughter, which caused the ponies in the audience to stomp their hooves in deafening noise. "Well..." Rarity asked as she and Twilight turned towards Rainbow hopefully, "Did you like that one........at least a little bit more?"
"As much as I hate to admit it..." She glanced angrily at Twilight, her glare stating one thing, 'This is all you and your stupid logic's fault.' , "That....Was....EPIC!!!!! Ahem.....uhhh.......it was cool...sure."
"Called it!" Rarity whispered to Twilight, before looking down at her little brochure-thingy, "I think she'll like the next one, one of my personal favorites, 'Beat It'"
Rainbow Dash goes to a Michael Jackson Concert
Rainbow kept fidgeting in her seat, impatiently waiting for the next song to begin. She was really excited for this one, as Rarity was a very loud whisperer, and Rainbow had overheard her saying it was her favourite, of course. Not only was it apparently awesome, but for some reason, it was taking a few minutes to start up. After a while, an announcement came on the overhead speaker system,
"Sorry to keep everypony waiting, there has been some technical difficulties, and the sound should be up in a few minutes. Thanks for waiting!" It always bothered Rainbow how the ponies who just said 'Please wait for a few minutes while we fix the music you paid lots of bits to hear!' always sounded so chipper, like they wanted your night to be ruined by their annoying voices. "Oh, well..." She thought, "Might as well sit here..bored."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
After a few minutes, Rainbow was getting even more bored, so she did the obvious and logical thing: Bother Twilight! "Hey....TWILIGHT!" She hissed in Twilight's ear, causing her to jump about five feet out of her chair. As she began to sit back down, she responded, very irritated.
".......What!?"
"I just wanted to ask you what the next song is like, you know, what it's about and what sounds like. You know, since you and Rarity somehow got little brochure-thingamajig and I didn't." Rainbow looked at Twilight with a huge, and really creepy smile.
"Well, Rainbow, I wasn't gonna tell you- -" Twilight was cut off by a ringing as another announcement came on the overhead speaker,
"Thank you everypony for waiting, we've fixed the sound mixer!" Well, at least * fixing** the sound is a better reason to act irritability cheerful than breaking it."* Rainbow rolled her eyes as the music started in a loud rock beat. She saw Michael trot onstage, wearing a red vest (that was a lot different than the other one.) He started singing , while Rainbow leaned back in her chair.
"Never mind." She whispered to Twilight, who honestly looked relieved to not have to explain the musical composition to her. Rainbow sat and listened to the epic song, until she heard humming coming from the seat on her left.
"Cheese? Why are you humming? It's really annoying!" Rainbow growled.
"Sorry. I just love this song! It's just so cool that this one song made me go from a relatively unknown guy to a famous super duper parody pony who got recognized at the Hayburger!" He explained, which in turn, only confused her.
"But...I thought Pinkie inspired you to be a party pony..."
"Well, she did, but after I decided that making ponies happy was how I wanted to make a living, I didn't really know where to start, 'cause, like, I had no money or anything. After a while, however, I started going to the schoolhouse here, and one day, the teacher played that song ABC for the class, and I thought it would be real funny to change the lyrics so it said...um....I think it was....'Eat with Me' or something. I dunno, it was over 40 years ago-"
"You're over 40 years old?!"
"I'm 55." He stated, ignoring the crazy looks Dash gave him as he continued, "Anywho....One day it just dawned on me to record parodies of popular songs, and to see if ponies liked them, or better yet, were willing to buy albums from me. It seemed like a good idea at the time........what....why are you giving me that look?!? Basically, it didn't really work out until I met Mr.GoldyPants over there." He gestured to the stage with a hoof, then looking over to Rainbow, who still had a confused look still plastered on her face, and was mouthing 'Mr.GoldyPants...what?'
"When I met him, I was really nervous, but I'm glad I did it because without that song, 'Eat it' never would have happened, and neither would my career as a party pony!"
"So how did you become a party pony? I thought you were making a living on song parodies." Rainbow asked.
"Well..., like I said I originally wanted to be a party pony, but before I could, I made the money to afford supplies by recording comedy songs." Cheese explained, trying to hide some annoyance at the fact that he just explained his life story to Dash, and she was making him explain every little implied detail.
"Wow...Okay, that was an...interesting story." Rainbow's eyes had just left the orange Earth Pony, who was grinning at her creepily, and found their way back up to the stage, when a loud guitar solo started. Near the end, Michael stood on his hind legs and started doing his professional dance moves (That I'm assuming you know, because I can't even describe them.) She found herself bobbing her head, and humming the song as well, "Hhmm..beat it!" She mumbled, enjoying the song even more than any of the others. If fact, Rainbow was starting to enjoy it so much that she didn't even care what any of the others thought! She loved his music! If only this concert could go on all night....
"I think she's finally come to her senses!" Rarity whispered to Twilight, who replied with,
"Well, now's a good enough time as any to test that theory." Twi leaned over to Rainbow, who was still rocking out to the beat. She took a deep breath and mumbled, "Here goes nothing!" under her breath.
"Rainbow....are you enjoying the concert? I'm not mocking you, I just want to know, in case you want to come back for the second part of the show tomorrow." Twilight asked.
"Wait, second part of the-"
As the music faded away, Michael slowly walked up to the mic in front of the stage any took it down. Holding it in both hooves, he spoke in a soft, almost shy voice, "Hello, everypony, how are you guys doing tonight?" He was met with stomping hooves and the many variations of the phrase 'I LOVE YOU MICHAEL!!!!' "As you all most likely know, this next song will be the last song of the concert 'till tomorrow."
"What!?" Rainbow yelled, causing ponies from nearby seats to collectively shush her, but, of course she ignored them. "How can you play only four songs at a CONCERT!!?!?"
"Well....I don't really know why....." Michael trailed off shyly, "My manager told me to just go along with it, and we'd play the rest of the songs tomorrow." Rainbow pouted in her seat for a while as Michael talked about the show the next day and blah, blah, blah turned out to be all she heard.
Rainbow Dash goes to a Michael Jackson Concert
Rainbow sulked in her seat as Michael trotted offstage to get his next outfit on. "Why doesn't he just sing all the songs in one night? Jeez!" She thought aloud. Twilight overheard Rainbow debating herself quietly to the left. Knowing full well that Rainbow didn't want Twilight to hear her talking to herself, Twilight turned to Rainbow and said,
"You do realize that we're going to see the rest of the concert tomorrow, right?" Rainbow didn't even waste a second trying to sound smarter than her,
"Of course I do, doesn't everypony?"
"Yeah. Everypony but you."
"Whatever." Rainbow looked over at Cheese, who seemed to be having a conversation with the pony next to him. She rolled her eyes as the two started to giggle in a suspicious manner. The audio started with some heavy breathing as Michael slowly walked onstage, wearing a white suit with a matching fedora, and of course, dem gold pants. Rainbow could have sworn she heard ponies squeeing behind her. Before she could figure out why the hay they were making that obnoxious noise, the audio got louder, and just before the music started, Cheese stomped on her hoof...HARD!
"AAaaooww!" She screeched, jumping up in the air. The two ponies next to her started laughing their heads off, while Rainbow had to deal with the dirty looks of ponies behind her. Luckily for her though, Michael seemed to be in a nice mood, because he just ignored it, and... she could have sworn he winked at her, even if he only turned his gaze towards her for a second. After the ponies had turned back towards the stage and decided to stop giving Rainbow an imaginary assault, she whipped her head to the left, faster than she could fly.
"Cheese!! What the hay was that for!!??" She whisper-shouted. Cheese looked shock for a second, but his expression quickly turned to that of a smug prankster.
"Why Rainbow, I'm shocked at you. We do not say those words here." Cheese was grinning awkwardly as he gestured a foal sitting with his mother a few seats away, "Think of the foals, don't corrupt them with your language."
Rainbow breathed in and out, trying to control her rage the way Twilight had shown her, "Alright, I get it, you all think it's hilarious that I'm enjoying myself, just don't do that again......jeez"
"Sorry.....I just....could NOT resist, it was the perfect opportunity to-" Cheese just kept blabbering on as Rainbow tuned him out and tried to focus on Michael's singing, although it was a little hard, considering it sounded like he was trying to whisper in the mic, but the words she did hear were something along the lines of...
Annie are you O.K.?
Or maybe it was Annie Ichy oaky. it was kinda hard to tell.
"Wait a second, who's Annie?" Rainbow said aloud, causing Twilight and Rarity to turn towards her. Rainbow realized she'd accidentally voiced her thoughts and she smiled casually at them, as if she had meant to say it out loud, "Is she like.....his girlfriend or something?" The two other mares turned away and started mumbling to each other in an incoherent whisper, so Rainbow only caught part of the conversation,
"Should we tell her?"
"I don't know, what if ...... believes the ..... accused him of....." Was all that she could understand. Once Rarity and Twilight seemed to have reached an agreement, they turned back and and took a deep breath,
"Well, you see, Annie is just a fictional character created to fit with the the song." Rarity explained, nodding her head like, "Yeah, that was definitely what me and Twilight were talking about..."
"Yeah, I get that, just, what were you mumbling about?" Rainbow crossed her arms, waiting for a response, and just got empty, awkward silence, "You gonna answer, or what?"
Twilight looked around nervously, before finally giving in and telling Rainbow, "Me and Rarity were talking about a certain article that came out of the Foal Free Press around the time of the whole "Gabby Gums" incedent, one that......accused Michael of....well....hurting foals.......in a....way....but..umm"
"Why were you talking about that?!" Rainbow demanded, not even fazed by what Twilight had just said, "Don't you think that this is a place where you WOULDN'T talk about that kind of thing!?"
"We were just discussing.....ahhh.... how best to tell you!" Rarity nodded her head, trying to look convincing"
"Well, that doesn't answer my question......like.........at all, I mean, why couldn't have you just waited 'till we got back home?!" Rainbow turned back towards the stage, just as the lights started to brighten up again and ponies began to get out of their seats and mingle about. "Awwww man....." She trailed off in disappointment, but quickly found her anger again, "You guys made me miss the last song of the night!"
"Well, if it makes you feel better," Twilight said, "I have all of his albums in my record collection, so if you want to borrow them, I have them! Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, etc.!" She said it really cheerfully, trying to distract from the previous conversation.
"But Twilight," Rainbow whined, "Seeing ponies perform at concerts is, like so much cooler than just listening to records! I mean, you get to see super famous ponies perform live, and you can even meet them! Records are just listening to songs, without feeling like you're about to talk to the coolest pony EVER!!"
"Speaking of which," Rarity said as she carefully got out of her seat and straightened out her dress in her own picky way, "We've got somewhere to go."
Rainbow Dash goes to a Michael Jackson Concert
"What...." Rainbow trailed off, and as the realization of what Rarity just said hit her like a brick wall, qnd she started flapping her wings like crazy, and she almost started to take off. "Omygoshomygoshomygosh!!" She was squeeing like a little filly who just woke up on Hearth's Warming Day, "I TOTALLY FORGOT!!"
"Alright, jeez, calm down Rainbow." Twilight put a hoof on Rainbow's back, in an attempt to pull her back to the ground before she completely flew off.
"Hmm....." Rarity looked around as she levitated the golden tickets out of an inexplicable pocket in her dress, "A-ha! There's guard ponies by the stage, I bet they're the ones who will let us backstage." She said with a smile.
"Whatever you say, as long as we get to meet the pony that was singing onstage tonight." Rainbow was trying her hardest to control her enthusiasm on the outside, but on the inside, she was freaking out.
As the three mares made their way over to the entrance, Twilight and Rarity kept mumbling and giggling to each other while Rainbow just hovered just a few feet off the ground, staying silent, but still shaking and occasionally letting out a squee as they got closer. By this point, most ponies had left or were waiting by the bathrooms for their fillies or colts to JUST FINISH ALREADY, so it was not really a long trip, and in less than a minute, the three reached the guards.
"That's odd.." Rainbow commented as she landed in front of one of he guard ponies, "I thought there would have been at least one other pony who would have gone through the trouble of getting backstage passes besides Rarity..."
"Actually, neither ticket sales nor backstage passes have been selling very well recently." One of the guards, a mare, answered her unspoken question, "Michael hasn't been taking it well, mostly because somepony always interrupts him during the concert, yelling profanities at him or other things like that. I guess it kinda ruins his spirit to know that ponies attend his concerts to make fun of him. Everypony says that he's just being a greedy celebrity who only cares about being seen as a musical god, but I think the poor guy just needs a break, I mean, between being put through constant verbal and physical abuse AND being the most famous and busy pony in Equestria, he's got a huge weight on his shoulders, trying to please everypony, but knowing that that's impossible because some can't accept who he is. Oops, sorry, didn't mean to ramble." She smiled sheepishly as the other guard, who was a stallion, stepped over.
"I'll take those passes for you." He smiled at Rarity, who levitated them over, but gave a look at the other guard. He inspected them, and then pulled off his (fabulous) hat to reveal a horn. It lit up as he gave Rarity back the passes and opened a door in front of them. "There you go." He said. The two guards watched as Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity walked in, and once they had, the door was closed until it was open only a crack, just in case something bad that in reality would have no chance of happening, happened.
Rainbow looked around, expecting the room to be full of fancy things, but it was really just a normal, average room, full of stage props and some costumes here and there, but no over-the-top decorations. Then again, it was Town Hall. Not exactly Canterlot.
Suddenly, they heard a loud SLAM! as a door was thrown shut, and some hoofsteps as a pony rushed out of one of the other rooms.
"S..Sorry! I was just getting..uhh...changed out of my.....um....outfit." He stuttered, blushing a little in embarrassment. Rainbow was actually surprised at how he looked, away from all the spotlights and fog machines. He had a long, smooth, almost silky-looking mane, very large wings (even quite possibly larger than Twilight's ), and a very oddly shaped muzzle. Suddenly, she noticed something very weird that she only noticed because Michael wasn't wearing anything at the moment....(And this is because he is a PONY, alright! I'm saying this now so no one mentions it in the comments.)
"Why don't you have a cutie mark?!?!" She blurted out, causing Michael to step backwards, looking both confused and almost hurt, while Twilight facehoofed while muttering things that sounded along the lines of 'Not now!' And 'Really, Dash!', etc.
"Well, I certainly haven't had to explain that one in a......while" Michael sadly glanced at his flank for a second, before turning back to Rainbow. "It all started a few years ago when I found out I had ....this ....um ...thing........Hay, wait a second! Aren't you the mare who yelled at me in the middle of the show?!"
Rainbow's eyes widened in embarrassment......She had been counting on the hope that Michael wouldn't recognize her, but then again, her mane did make that a little difficult. "I.....was......you see," Rainbow desperately looked at Twilight and Rarity, who just shrugged, basically saying "Yeah, this is your problem."
She glanced back over to Michael, who didn't look angry or hurt or whatever, but he was tapping a hoof on the floor, Impatiently waiting for an answer. Rainbow sighed, she was going to have to tell Michael what really happened. Even the 'I have an Unfathomably Enormous Ego' part.
"Basically, when my friends Twilight and Rarity......you know, them," Rainbow pointed a hoof at her friends when Michael looked confused, "Took me to this concert, I tried to act like it was lame, and you know, yelled at you 'n stuff. I.....um...didn't realize what you were going through, so I acted really rude...and um...I didn't mean for it to come out so mean." Rainbow sat down and waited for somepony to mock or laugh at her for giving such an honest and really sappy apology, but her friends looked at her and nodded.
"That was a very beautiful and honest apology, Rainbow Dash." Rarity stated as she turned to Michael. "And, I hope you accept it, Mr. Jackson."
"Michael is fi-" He began to correct her, but was cut off by.... surprise, surprise, Rainbow's ego.
"Ha! I knew it! Take that past self! You thought ponies would make fun of you, but no," She ranted "Even the legendary Michael Jackson thought your apology was awesome and totally makes up for everything you did!"
"No it doesn't, Rainbow." Twilight looked at her in a silent "Shut up!" sort of way, "That doesn't excuse what you did." Michael put a hoof on Twilight's side, looking amused,
"If I may?" He interrupted the two mares before things got ugly, "I umm.....er...believe Rainbow had a question for me." Luckily, the two stopped (before they started) bickering and looked over.
"Well, I did kinda want to know why you don't have a cutie mark, I mean, you're a super
awesome singer and dancer, uhh..speaking of which, why didn't you fly around on the stage?" Now Michael was starting to regret bringing Rainbow's question back up, "I bet you would have been a better flyer than the Wonderbolts! Not better than me, of course, but ya' know!" She grabbed one of Michael's wings and unfurled it, getting her answer. Some feathers fell off, shriveled like a dying plant, while most just looked sad. "Wha..?" She curiously picked up one of them and examined it as Michael pulled his wing back and sighed.
"Vitiligo." Twlight said bluntly, "A disease that turns your fur white, including your.....cutie mark. It also usually ruins Pegasus feathers, causing them to be burned and weathered really easy, so just a little flight can cause them to become sunburned and fall off."
"Uh.....wow..." Rainbow sat down, speechless.
"Oh, where are my manners?" Michael exclaimed, trying to break the awkward silence, "Anypony want a drink?" He pointed over to a small, compact fridge in the corner of the 'kitchen' section of the room, smiling awkwardly the whole way! Michael opened it and looked inside, obviously disappointed. "Well, we got....juice boxes, water, and..cider." he concluded.
"Cider!?" Rainbow flew over at the speed of light, knocking Michael aside. She looked in the fridge and grabbed a little bottle of Apple Cider, left over from the recent Cider Season. As Michael got up and her friends walked over, she downed the bottle and licked her lips.
"Ahem..." Rarity cleared her throat, "This is really nice, and I'm sorry about her."
"It's alright." Michael said as he got up, "I've seen.......and been at the end of worse manners." He shuttered before adding, "Tabloids."
Rainbow tossed her empty bottle to the floor and landed next to Michael. "By the way, your performance was super cool, even if I hadn't known about you before. if your wondering, I'm just trying to be humble about my amazing......ummm...."
"Tact?" Twilight asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Right. Just in case you didn't know how I felt." Rainbow leaned closer, like she was about to whisper something in Michael's ear, and burped loudly, making him instinctively flatten his ear against his head and mumble under his breath.
"Very tactful." He said sarcastically as he scooted away from her nervously and looked at Twilight, "I assume you're Princess Twilight?"
"Yes, but I prefer just Twilight." She replied cheerfully, "So, what songs were you planning on performing tomorrow?" She asked.
"Well as long as you don't tell anypony, I was planning to do Pony Nature, Rock with You, Scream, and lastly-"
"REALLY!? Is your sister going to be here to perform with you!?" Rarity asked.... really loudly. Twilight and Rainbow just rolled their eyes. Sometimes Rarity was way to obvious about picking her favorites in a family.
"I'm tried to contact her, but if it doesn't work, I could always just sing it myself or sing "Leave me Alone" instead. It's the same concept, so I just figured if I couldn't manage one, Why not just do the other?"
"Are you gonna do any other songs?" Rainbow smiled, eagerly waiting for an answer.
"The last one is going to be a secret." He said, smiling mischievously.
"Awww man....." Rainbow whined, "I was going to bug Twilight into letting me hear the records over and over again so I can sing the words at an obnoxiously high volume."
"Rainbow, I think they'd 'escort' you out of the area if you did that." Twilight said, "And by that, I of course mean the Security Ponies will throw you out of Town Hall."
"Yeah...." Rainbow sighed. Suddenly, she looked up and surveyed the room, rapidly looking back and forth. "Did you guys hear that?!" She asked.
"I think I know who that is...." Michael said, raising an eyebrow in amusment, "PRINCE! PARIS! I KNOW YOU'RE UP THERE!" He yelled. The three mares looked at each other, confused as the sound of two pairs of little hooves came rushing downstairs.
"Hello, everypony!" said a little Pegasus filly nonchalantly, as if she intended to be caught spying on them, "How are you doing?"
"You must be Paris!" Twilight smiled enthusiastically.
"You really are ADORABLE!!!" Rarity crouched down to pat her on the head, but her hoof was slapped away by a slightly taller Unicorn colt with a slightly darker brown mane than his sister.
"I exist too, ya know." He said, obviously irritated by how everypony (Who wasn't trying to get her to admit her father was a foalfooler) always thought his sister was sooooo cute.
"You must be Prince, then....right?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Yeah.." he looked at her, obviously still a little annoyed, "Prince Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., to be exact."
"C'mon, guys, have some manners!" Michael poked Prince with his hoof, only making Prince roll his eyes. "These ponies are our guests, in this, um.....small town that is nothing like home!" He said cheerfully, giving that awkward smile again.
"I like them!" exclaimed Paris, who was just glad to be getting some POSITIVE attention for once in her life. Michael opened his mouth to say something, but one of the guards called from outside,
"MICHAEL, SOMEPONY IS HERE TO...uhh....SEE YOU!" She yelled.
"Uhh, I guess you guys should stay here, while I talk to this pony." He said, sounding a bit unsure of himself. Rainbow glanced at Twilight and Rarity, who just shrugged as Michael walked out the door.
A/N
So.....this is Part 1 of the....finale I guess, of my first story on Fimfiction.
Alright, so real notes, I'm really sorry if Michael (or anypony else for that matter) seems out of character at times, but I was trying to write him as more of an individual pony and a little less like Michael himself. Sorry, but I thought it was better that way, since, you know, he is supposed to be a 'Character' and not a 'Pony embodiment of MJ'.
