Chapters It was just another day in Ponyville after some years has passed since the adventures of the main six, with or without many friends and enemies, but now focus in a special one; Spike, who had grown into a rather large dragon. Today he was walking thinking of breakfast.
“I should request something... crispy... if they have it. ” He arrived at his favorite restaurant and instantly entered. Sitting at a table looking out the window until his waiter arrived. Outside he saw a beautiful sky the birds were singing and the clouds were in perfect shape. In his mind he couldn't have chosen a more perfect day to tell the full truth.
When the waiter brought him back to reality he requested: “Please give me a plate of fried hay with some tomato sauce and eggs with a small flower in it. Oh and if you have any some bacon. ” Without thinking it over the waiter abandoned the table to go to the kitchen.
During that time Spike began to remember the routine that he prepared to tell Rarity, how much he liked her.
“Rarity... I must tell you that you have always been and you are the most beautiful pony that I have ever known, I’m here to tell you, I was a friend to you… ”'
Before beginning to eat Spike finalized that today was going to be the day not another time he would doubt himself. His hot fried hay was already in front of him with thankfully some bacon. He gave his waiter the money for his breakfast and proceded to savor and dribble over the food. In less than three minutes the plate was empty.
Having finished his breakfast the dragon's thought went back to the matter about Rarity.
“...friend to you but, I want to be more than that, Rarity, I like you, I’m a Dragon but, if you accept me, you will be able to see that I am the suitable Pony/Dragon for you ” The dragons thoughts were interrupted by accidentally crashing into a particular pink party pony.
“OUCH… that hurts, uh? ” The pink pony stood up quickly and started talking extremely fast to him “OH! Spike, are you ok? ” The purple dragon in question began to talk as well “Yeah and you? ” “Yes, I’m more fine than a new Chocolate Cake covered with vanilla with a LOT of candies on it! ” “Uh, yeah Pinkie, well sorry for crashing into you Pinkie, i’m very late! ” The confused pink pony, thought for a quick moment, until she discovered the intentions of her friend.
“Spike! I know where you are walking. Your going to Rarity's house to tell her the whole truth right? "
Spikes face was firm like a stone to a simple pony, this was obviously not in Pinkie's case. She could easily deduce Spikes intentions from his crush. She quickly changed her path and said to Spike “Good Luck Little boy, I'm not gonna stop you Spike and distract you, you can! ” Before she could say another word, Pinkie fell off a small cliff and rolled down to meet Applejack there. “Oh, hi Applejack! ” “PINKIE! What in tarnation?!... ” After which Spike relived of Pinkie could return to his walk toward Rarity's House.
Finally, Spike was there, in front of the Carrousel Boutique, after remembering perfectly the words to say, buying some chocolates and a great bouquet of flowers, roses to be exact. After checking everything, he knocked the door; The Purple dragon was nervous because the tension was going to be… tremendous after he told the truth to her. Faster than he could recover from his conscience; Rarity had the door open and touched Spike in the shoulder. “Spike, darling are you Ok? ” “Uh? Oh Rarity! ” Then he recovered fast and gently spoke again “Rarity, I can come inside? ” “Y-yes, of course ” And Rarity was confused about was happening here, and started to solve the mystery of why is Spike here.'
Spike, after drinking his tea that Rarity gave to him to calm his nerves, he now, saw the chance to say his piece. He grabed the chocolates and the flowers and started to tell her all, slow and romantic as he could. “Rarity, I need to tell you something and it’s very important, so I need you to listen please ” “O-ok Spike ” and Rarity putting all the pieces of the puzzle together and now remembering all about the matter of his visit.'
'“Rarity… I must tell you that you have always been and you are the most beautiful pony that has known, I’m here to tell you I was a friend to you but, I want to be more than that, Rarity, I like you, I’m a Dragon but, if you accept me, you will be able to check that I am the suitable Pony/Dragon for you, so please can you go on a date with me? ” Rarity, after hearing that, started to feel weird because she didn't have the same feelings Spike had for her, the perfect moment for Spike had come to an awful end.'
'“Spike… darling, please listen; don’t feel sad about this but… sorry, I’m don't feel the same way you do for me, in other words, sorry Spike but I don’t love you, can we still be friends? ”
Spike’s Heart started to break into very small pieces. At that moment Spike threw the chocolates and the flowers down and ran out of that place “The Place of my failure of love” he thought while running to nowhere.
Blind from his desperation he couldn't see what was ahead and collided with a distracted yellow pegasus. When Spike recovered conscience he saw how Fluttershy was woulded through his blind run. As fast as he could recover he went to check on and assist her too.
"FLUTTERSHY! Are you ok? ” “Oh… Spike?! Y-yes, I- I’m fine-AH! Your shoulder! ” Instantly she was upon the wounded dragon to check his shoulder and deal with the blood coming out. “Uh-oh, don’t worry Fluttershy this is nothing to me, in fact I’m a strong Dragon as you can see-AGH! ” Fluttershy was surprised to see a small rock leaving the wound, faster than anything else she took her portable kit of paramedics that she brought to heal a squirrel seconds ago.
'“Ok Spike, please be quiet and don’t move I’m going to try to remove that thing from your shoulder ” “W-wait! AH! ” The shard of rock moved faster until it was no longer in the wound. Fluttershy put the pincers inside the kit again and a bandage on the wound. “Now, how do you feel? ” “Better I think sorry for colliding with you, I-I couldn't… see and no… ” before he could say another word he saw how Fluttershy was looking at him. she paid attention to his words something that nobody had ever done for him, something strange but he didn't care and continued “... and I had no idea you were here in the first place, and the problem is... well, I told Rarity about my crush on her but... it didn't go well. I had known about the consequences to the choice but I didn't think a word could break my heart so much. ”
Fluttershy start to think about the situation and she had just the idea to comfort Spike. “Spike, I’m sorry to ask that, th-that no was my intention, I-I no have idea of- ” before she can babble Spike cut off the conversation, “It’s not your fault Fluttershy, it was mine for being such a fool around her. I- ” “Don’t worry Spike, it's bad for you if you still going to blame yourself about that, instead, why you don't come to my house and drink some relaxing tea if you want? ” “Yeah- I mean y-yes, why not? ” And Spike accepted the invitation to her house musing “I think I’ll just be a fool to her, it's b-better to move on, maybe I-I need to find another pony, another who I can love happily. ”
Meanwhile…
“Oh, why was I so mean to him? ...no but I need to apologize before another disaster happens ”'

After he drinks the tea, he walks to the kitchen, but feeling much better, about just happened between him and Rarity. But the Distractions only just start to him, and the reason? He didn’t know…yet.
“So…do you like it?” “Yes Fluttershy, you prepare a delicious tea!” “Oh~ stop it~ I’m not too good~” “Why not? That was perfectly…”
Spike, wasn’t listening about Fluttershy’s Warning with her hoof…
*THUD*
“¡OH SPIKE! ¿Are you Ok?” The dragon stand up again because was a little stair than he didn’t see and, he answer faster and the same time with a ‘Confidence’ tone. “Ye-yeah, I’m fine, don’t worry about me” After recover from the floor, he clean the floor when he fall, and pick up some scales than get separated from his body.
“¿¡Fluttershy!? Here, grab on my shoulder” Spike carry Fluttershy to her couch next to them. “You didn’t recover from the accident, maybe you need rest. If you need my help, only say my name; I’m going to stay here to do anything you want, until I call the Doctor and he arrive, to be more relaxed and if you don’t have any serious problems” In a more gentle whisper tone, she answer him before fall asleep “Okay…I’m counting on you”.
Spike grab the phone next to the couch and call the Ponyville Hospital, faster than he can believe, a mare receive his call.
“Good afternoon Sir ¿How I may help you?” “Hi, I’m Spike, I call from the house of Fluttershy; is next to the entrance of the Everfree Forest; send here a Doctor.” “I see…well, there is still a doctor on duty, I send him” “Thanks, Good-bye.”
Moments later, a voice coming from the living room was calling him; without thinking twice he runs faster to attend Fluttershy.
Spike slowly stand up with a…weird face “¿What-what did you say? What I meant, is I don’t blame you about that but, I thought anypony can say such things to a…dragon?!” “Oh…well, somepony need to start it, to get normal when someone say things like that to you, and why not start it right now?” She says while her eyelids stay in the middle of her eyes with a warm, small and soft smile. (Uh? wait a minute…I-I was thought about her in that way? No…could be a mistake. But, if is not a mistake, then what did just happen!?). “You need something more?” “Y-yes…a blanket…” “IN A SECOND” But accidentally he stepped in his own tail and get hurt with the cold floor again.
*THUD*
“OUCH!” “He…he, be more careful Spike. You don’t need to run like this, have you a problem?” “ME- I say me? No, no, no, of course not”
Far away in Canterlot
Twilight was in Canterlot, speaking with the Princess about how her friendship has become an unstoppable and an unbroken chain of miracles, and other stuff like adventures and funny memories. Then she receive a letter from Spike, telling her about what happened earlier.
“…of course not princess, her was saying-” A green flame appears in front of Celestia, and before she can read it, the Princess saw that the letter isn’t for her, it’s for her faithful student. “Twilight, this is for you; it’s saying that is very important” “¿Uh? Let me see” As she progressive reads, progressively his face turn in a surprise state with her eyes very wide open. “Princess, I must leave, we can continue this in another moment? When nothing bad happens?” The Princess just nodded; she say about a train is leaving right now to Ponyville, she said to two guards to escort Twilight to the train fast as they can.
Now in Fluttershy’s house
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
“*YAWN* ”
Spike, wake up from the seat near Fluttershy; and then walk to the door to check who was knocking. “Hello?-oh, you must be the Doctor isn’t it?” “Yes…um, Spike Right?” “Yeah-I mean yes doctor, please go inside.” The doctor, who never has visit a kind of place, in the middle of the nature, makes he feel very strange, but that’s not the reason why he is here. “So…who is the girl that needs my help?” “Uh, ejem…is here next to you doctor, she is sleeping on the couch.” With a silly look, the doctor turn his head to see Fluttershy next to him. “Um…well, what we have here?” “Oh, doctor, be careful, she is taking a nap, I wake her up to a better check” Spike whisper at her ear, for his surprise she starts to giggle. “*Giggle* what is it Spike? Oh, I have a visitor; so you must the doctor. I’m Fluttershy, nice to meet you doctor” “Good afternoon ma'am, well, now please take sit”.
The Doctor check carefully all the Fluttershy's body to find a "Pain Sign", then he starts to know how close is him, to locate the injured part that Fluttershy feels more pain, and finally find it; her right-front hoof.
“Mhm, maybe would you only take a long rest. I’m going to bandage with a small cushion, to not harm you with the bandages, now stay calm.” “Okay doctor.” The doctor opens his briefcase to get the bandages, scissors, the small cushion and disinfectant; Fluttershy call Spike to help her to contain the pain while the doctor finishes the treatment.
Moments later, the doctor finished the treatment, and pick up the equip he used.
“Okay, you should be fine now, if you excuse me, I need to go to another house near here” Spike and Fluttershy both nodded at the same time. “Good-bye doctor!” the last words Spike can say before the doctor leaves the house.
“Well, now how do you feel?” “Pretty nice Spike, and I’m going to be much better with some company; it’s too late Spike. Why you don’t stay the whole night with me?”
Confused, Spike look outside through the window. In fact, the sun was just hide. Then return to look Fluttershy.
“Me? Well, if is because of you, why not? And Twilight can’t return until tomorrow so…yes, I’ll take care of you Fluttershy!” Fluttershy replies with a warm and soft smile again. “Good, now I must-” Spike saw how Fluttershy try to stand up by herself; and obviously he isn’t let her do that, not with her condition. “Let me help you Fluttershy” Spike carry Fluttershy to the staircase and then, to her bedroom and leave her on the bed before leaves the room.
“Well I go to sleep in the couch. Good nig-” “Wait! Why do you no sleep here? If you want” Spike, with an amazed face, can’t believe what did Fluttershy said a second ago; but thinking in the most, simple way to sleep and avoiding the whole thing happened today, he say only the fast answer. “In the floor, well, fine, I don’t care; no, really, I can sleep in things more stronger than this” “No…I mean with me in the bed, this night it seems to be cold” A small blush appears in her face with the same smile, warm and soft like always; and Spike took a blush too.
Both have a blush at the same time. And then Fluttershy broke the weird silence. “I-I mean because you’re a very special kind of animal, a dragon and I would appreciate all do you have done for me before. Nothing more” “Well, we are friends after all, right?” “Yes…just friends.” Then Fluttershy make a space for him, Spike without make it a trouble, he accommodates very carefully to not touch Fluttershy’s leg. “Good, now *Yawn* I go to sleep now.”
In a moment of silence, Fluttershy look to Spike and listen to his breath, slowly, melodious and warm; faster she turn to the other side of the bed and, stay, quiet, looking at the clock. The time was nine o’ clock, and then, look the window.
A brightness moon was raised, full in all the sky. Then Fluttershy turn again to Spike, she didn’t realize than she was too close to him, feeling his breath, and only to awake him. “Spike…?” “Mmm…what is it Fluttershy?” “Have you seen the Full moon tonight?” “Uh…no, not really” “Well, you can see it through the window” Spike looked at the window and stay like a hypnotized pony. “Whoa… I didn’t saw this full moon yet, is Amazing!” “Oh, that’s reminding me a legend” “Huh?”
“When the Great Moon, Full in the Sky, White like the Snow and Shiny like a Fine gem, in the own heart of the lucky one, start to reveal their feelings to the beloved one and show the True in front of his eyes, Words like the Sincerely True go out like the most beautiful thing, make her happy forever”
“Whoa…is that true?” “I don’t know but I believe in that words I find in that stone some years ago when I was in the Everfree Forest searching food to the animals” “Fluttershy…?” Spike begins to feel a strange warm feeling, and then he got surprised when he was embraced by Fluttershy. “Fluttershy…are you *Gasp*!” Fluttershy was in an intense blush while the moon was illuminate her face; and finally fall asleep on his neck. “This can’t be…or no?” his last words before fall asleep too, with Fluttershy embrace him.

The First sunlight is appearing in the beautiful morning; showing a great day ahead, and the first creature to awake was Spike…
“*YAAAAWN* Mmmff…oh…that was a real sleep, after all, I still sleeping in that tiny bed for small animals, you know what? I need to buy a normal size for a tall dragon, how could Twilight think I’m still flexible? He, how hilarious was-” before he can say another word, he remember was happened the last night and…after open his lazy eyelids, was still embracing Fluttershy; no more reaction than an intense blush.
(Oh my! this isn’t true RIGHT?! No I can think in a bad way, after all, she was who take a decision and, a good friend can’t deny that, but…now I remember; I need to return to the library and faster!). Spike slowly forces the Fluttershy’s hoofs to move to each side and get free, very carefully, and more with the injured one. “Stay calm…it’s already done…” and a bad movement cause Fluttershy to move, but for the sake of Spike, she didn’t awake. “Uff…that was close, now…” he gets off from the bed and walks slowly to the door; open it with extreme careful to not do a noise with the old door.
Finally, close the door, but not without see one more time Fluttershy in the bed sleeping like a beautiful angel with the sun light covering her making a sparkle effect. (Oh no, no that thoughts again)
But without more distractions, he go downstairs and before leaving, was already thinking if it’s a good idea to leave like this; a great idea! He go to the kitchen, find the eggs (She already knows that the eggs in the market are different to the other ones, so she is calm about that and not to think she was eating…well, you know), bread and some oranges.
“Fried eggs, check, toasts, check, fresh orange juice, check, and now, this note: -Fluttershy, this is for you, I’m leaving to the library, sorry to leave you alone but Twilight can arrive in any second and you know how she is…intense. Sorry, instead, have this special breakfast that I made for you. Well, I’m leaving now. See you later!-” He left the note in a side of the table and go through the Entrance door to outside, a fresh morning, and no more distractions to go to the library. “Alright, I need to move on and faster!” In a flash, he was already running head to the town.
Meanwhile in the Carrousel Boutique
The same light get pass through Rarity’s curtains, awaking a new mare for today with a smile, but today isn’t her day, no actions will get free for the problems that come in time.
“*Yawn*” Open her eyelids see the solitaire state of her room, if something is missing…
Like a cinematic scenes, she first put some music to do everything more entertainment, then starts making her bed, then walk into the bathroom and closing the door; a shower sound appears and disappears after 7 minutes, a dry sound make its appearance while she hums the song with simples la-la-la; then the teeth brushing sound, the water, and with a slowly hair brushing sound, she get out of the bathroom and with a whip of her hair, she get ready for today.
“Oh, who’s that mare over there? Of course, is Rarity! The most beautiful creature in all Equestria” She while was talking with her mirror and put her make-up, when she hear some footsteps in the street, she finished and take a look outside, a beautiful day of course but, turn look down and see Spike running like a maniac, only to reach soon the library.
“Spike?!” and she…remembered the whole problem of yesterday. Nothing that she was trying to do was useless because Spike wasn’t in the library (Because he was with Fluttershy) and she never noticed that.
Now, with knowing where he is going, she gets the opportunity to apologize for…the love problem.
“Perfect, now I can say him before, well, he try to do something more stupid”. Then she grabs her bag and goes outside. While she was walking, the sun was just perfect today and no more than a great time to walk appreciating all the wonders of the nature.
Back to Spike
“*Gasp* faster…I need to get…*GASP* soon!” The poor dragon was running with all of his strength and finally arrives to the library. “*GASP* finally…ugh…ejem, uff, now I can take some shower and get ready when Twilight arrives”. When he passes through the door he saw nothing more than a great mess when he didn’t clean up yesterday. “Dear Celestia…this can’t be…I’m pretty fast, so this isn’t going to take much longer”
In a few minutes Spike already had clean up the most of the mess, but without any idea of could be receive a visitor in that moment. And he didn’t lock the door, so…
“Spiiiiike~ are you here-” Spike haven’t pay attention at her words and finally…the “Other” mess happened.
*THUD*
When Spike was recovering the consciousness, while at the same time with a blur and double vision, get noticed that have in front no other pony than Rarity! And, when finally, he gain more strength, can now say…“¿What? Rarity, ¿why you are here? Err, I mean, what happened, you just enter the library like nothing and well, you don’t see what I was doing? Running like a crazy pon-dragon or whatever, and the only thing that you think, with no offense, is standing in front of the door and just call me? …Ah…now is your turn”
Rarity was in a trance with no return for the impressively reaction of Spike against their crash; and with some snap with the fingers of Spike, Rarity was able to speak again returning from her trance.
“Oh Spike! I…come to apologize you for yesterday, I tried to say the best things to you, and only I get to an innocent dragon, pain in his emotions, Spike, I don’t want to say this but, darling, I don’t feel anything for you; and I only can see other ponies to love, no other kind of creatures. Sorry but I can’t feel the same as you to me; that love than isn’t for me or I can get. Sorry Spike”
Rarity was starting sobbing, she knows how him can react about this, his truly and very helpful friend and, starting how he can think about, that “something more”, would get him in a bad way, but, instead of that…
“I accept your apologies Rarity, I know now I can’t love you. So you want to say another thing to me?” And with an expression of a great relief she finally response heading to the entrance “No, nothing more Spike. So, when Twilight will arrive?”
Spike with a new expression on his face; spoke the last words before close immediately the door in front of Rarity “Oh for Celestia! SHE WILL BE RIGHT HERE IN ANY MOMENT! Sorry but I can’t stand here without doing nothing, see you later!”
And with a great breeze produced by the door getting closed by a great strength, Rarity finally feel now very relieved about his answer. Then with a tiny smile in her face, she walks now to her house to do more dressmaker job to end the day.
Back with Spike inside the Library
The adolescent dragon was now lost in that mess “So, where I was…oh right!” Now, he continues with the –Clean Up Plan- before Twilight arriving in Ponyville soon.
Back with Fluttershy
The gentle sun woke up the sleepy pony, with a kind and lovely stare, she slowly open her eyelids and remember what happened. “Oh…Spike…” her face turn now in a sad expression, she will be happy with Spike at her side, smiling at her too…but Fluttershy didn’t get that perfect morning.
She now gets up from the waist to the head and see how alone was the room, without Spike; and a peaceful bunny gets inside to say hello.
“Oh…I was almost forgetting your breakfast Angel. Mama will be downstairs in a moment”
Fluttershy with sobbing, go downstairs and when she arrive to the kitchen, she start to get amazed and; with cleaning her eyes from tears, she starts to smile and blushing a lot. “He cares about me! *Sniff* he really cares…” And Fluttershy, finishing serving Angel’s food, she sit, and read the message to her. At the end of the reading, she says very softly: “Oh Spike…so that’s why you did this to me…well, this would be the best breakfast made to me”
And it was the perfect and delicious meal to her, and she still thinking him for a while for that, to make a delicious meal than her loves, in the shower too and while she was chosen clothes; remember him every second of that time, she can’t stop think about him. And that would be just another reason to increase her secret from him…
