A Different Point of View

The Locker isn't Exactly a Bad Place

Previous Chapter

He had been floating for some time, his mind on what he would find in the Locker.  He was so intrigued by this thought, that he didn't notice he had begun to move again.  However, this time, he was being pulled upwards.

He only noticed when he broke through the surface of the water.  Coughing, and breathing in as much air as he could, he grabbed wherever he could hold onto, which was surprisingly everywhere.  He grabbed onto what seemed like a ledge, and pulled himself up and out of the water.  Falling on his face, he tried crawling forward, and was rewarded with a few inches of movement.

"Agh...  About time it happened."

Sitting himself up, and taking off his right boot, he found that his custom made bottle of the finest rum was still there.  Unpopping the cork, he drank it all in a single gulp.  Now, this rum was made from the finest of eel slime, the deadliest of poisons, and the saltiest seawater.  He would be passed out blabbering about rum, rum, wenches and rum before the minute was up.  Which, was exactly what happened.

There was no way of telling how much time had passed before he woke up, but when he did, he immediately went back to the bottle for more.

"Bah.  Shoulda gotten two bottles."

Picking himself up, and looking around, he saw a brightly lit cavern.  Brightly lit by the plants growing on and around the walls, with an entrance straight ahead of him.

Turning around to get a full view of where he was before moving on, he saw a perfectly circular little pool.  Moving up to it, he looked directly into it for a long while, trying to see how this could have led to the sea.  It wasn't but a minute before a figure came into shape on the water.

Adasi looked over at the bottle that was tossed to one corner of the cavern.  "That is bloody good stuff then."

Moving his attention back to the water, he found that features had started to form.  It was that of a man, built much like himself.  His face matched the description his men gave him of the 'demon' they faced.  The man was in some kind of chariot, looking bored out of his mind.

"So, yer in the locker as well, eh?  Ha ha.  Let's see what ya got then."

It was a good 15 minutes of stumbling through a densely packed forest before he came to a door in the middle of a tree.  Curious, confused, and sober as hell, he walked up to it and knocked.  It wasn't five seconds later that he was met with a woman with hair going straight down the middle of her head, greyish skin with darker grey stripes, and jewelry he wouldn't mind having for himself.  She was wearing some strange looking wooden carvings as clothes, which, he noticed didn't exactly fully cover her.  Only the most important parts were left to the imagination.

"Hallo love.  Ya have any rum I could borrow?"

The woman looked at him for too long before she opened the door further, and allowed him in.

"Belay that, love.  I'm only lookin fer rum.  Unless, that is,  ye be wantin some comp'ny."

"A home I was looking to provide.  But I fear that 'rum' is something I cannot hide."

adasi looked at her for a few seconds before asking "so is that a yes, err a no on the rum?"

"No."

"Then I'm guessin ya jest want comp'ny?"

His smile was missing a few teeth, and half of the ones he had were gold.  Still, it was charming enough.

"I believe a new friend is something fun, as I am missing your very wanted rum."

Having made his way into the tree, and seeing nothing of interest, turned and looked at her after hearing this 'friend' talk.  Letting his hands move to where they shouldn't, he began his way of charm.

"I think I agree with ya love.  Bein friends surely is fun."

"A misunderstanding, I believe.  I did not wish to mislead."

"What in Jones' hell are ye talkin about?"

The woman seemed to think for a moment as she moved past him towards a cauldron in the middle of the room.  She spoke as she began stirring.

"I am not looking for pleasures of any kind but friendship and knowledge.  None of the flesh.  I hope you are not offended."

"Well then love, methinks I have somethin that might change yer mind."

Adasi reached into his pockets and took out a small pouch that made delightful little money sounds as it was moved around.

"A pound a shiny gold.  Change yet, love?"

"I will remain with my first answer."

"Bah.  I hope everyone else here has a better sense of fun."

"Perhaps your friend may enlighten your mood."

"Me friend?  He come through here?"

"I recently housed another strange one.  I assume you two know each other?"

"Was he a big fella?"

"Yes he was.  A powerful body for a young mind."

"Yeh, sounds like me friend.  Any ideas to where he's gone?"

"If you would kindly wait a while, I must make it back to Ponyville for some fresh ingredients.  I will gladly take you, and point you to your desired path."

"Ehm...  Right.  That means you'll tell me where he is right?"

"In due time."

"Then I guess I owe ye one, don't I love?  Name's Captain Adasi.  If you've ever any need of me, feel free to ask around.  I'm sure I'll have made enough of a name fer me self."

"Zecora.  And thank you for the offer.  Feel free to rest up, I'll wake you when it is time to go."

Adasi moved to the bed in one corner and, after checking all of his pockets for any amount of rum he might have forgotten, tried to get some sleep.  It was difficult though, trying to sleep while your sober.  Just unheard of.
