chapter 1

It was a day like any other in ponyville, today Derpy was going to see her friend rainbow dash :rainbowdetermined2: who was once again attempting her legendary "sonic rainboom". It was a sight to behold and any time she tried it everypony would be there.

So Derpy began to fly over but to her surprise nopony was there and not even Dash! Confused Derpy began to look around coming finally to sugar cube corner. There she found a upset Dash on top of the roof. "Dash whatareya doin' up there?" asked the bewildered Derpy

Dash's surprising reply was "nopony wants to see my rainboom they're tired of it!" "Well maybe there's something we could do about that" Said the kind Pegasus. "Yeah right, what do you know about flying?" Asked Dash "Not much" replied the gray Pegasus

"but I can try can I not?" Dash sighed "I suppose so" she said.

chapter 2

"Are you sure these are necessary?" asked Derpy while Dash was trying to shove professional looking goggles onto her face.

"Crud these don't fit either, and yes these are necessary Derpy I would know" muttered Dash impatiently. " I just don't know what went wrong" said the tired gray mare. "If I hear that one more time you're out" said Dash. Derpy muttered something that sounded like "bucking moron, hmph bucking element of loyalty, sigh" Dash ignored this and continued on.

2 hours later Derpy looked weather ready and almost like a wonderbolt. (excluding the official costume) She had the goggles and the boots and all kind of warm clothing. Dash stood back and looked proudly at the gray Pegasus and the two were both pretty happy.

They were ready. Well, almost.

chapter 3

CRASH!!!!!! " GET USED TO IT YOUR GONNA FALL ALOT" yelled Dash to Derpy who had just fallen for the umpteenth time.

"OUCH" was her reply the two Pegasi were still attempting a sonic rainboom and while Dash was ready Derpy wasn't they were planning on doing a double rainboom together or a sonic derpboom if you'd prefer. Derpy's crossed eyes were a difficult handicap and while she could walk just fine, she couldn't fly as well as the average Pegasus. Again and again they heard the now familiar noise: CRASH!!!! Followed by a dizzy sounding: "OUCH" or "CRAP". It was really getting old. Eventually Dash got tired and started reading a daring do book she had brought because she knew this would take some time. Derpy really wasn't improving either once she even fell on top of Dash who wasn't paying 1 percent of attention. Finally the sun began to kiss the ground causing a beautiful sunset and the two mares went home.

That night Derpy sat awake thinking, she was sad because she had let her friend down. That same night she had a dream: Dash was cheering for her and was encouraging her as well, she jumped of the rainbow falls and began to go wicked fast. Just as she was about to hit the ground there was an explosion and a beautiful derpboom rocketed out every which way. Her wings pulled up and she safely.

Dash came over and hugged her and she had never felt so 20 percent cooler than right then.

chapter 4

Derpy's eyes snapped open to the sound of knocking at her door groggily she got up and opened the door and there was Rainbow dash

she was exited for the second day of training. "Get dressed and come with me" she said doing a mid-air backflip.

"Other than my mailmare outfit I actually don't own any clothes" "no, what about all that gear I bought you yesterday?!"

"that broke on my 1389th attempt of the derpboom remember?" " WHAT!!!???" " I spent 200 precious bits on that!"

"nevermind" muttered Derpy "lets just go" " 'kay I could never stay mad at you" Dash said back "lets go"

That day Twilight came to visit them. "what are you two doing?" she asked "It's a secret MUHUHUHAHAHA ummm... I mean... nooooothhing..." Dash replied. "OOOkaaaaay?" their purple friend replied.

Derpy had much improved since their last attempt but still wasn't ready yet. "THAT'S THE WAY DERPY WAHOOOO!" shouted Dash.

And then, it worked a beautiful derpboom "I DID IT RAINBOW DASH!" yelled a overexcited Derpy hooves.

As she landed Dash hugged her and then said " we're nearly there!"

chapter 5

That night a happy Derpy dreamt of the next day when she would try to mix her derpboom with Dash's epic rainboom she dreamt of the marvels that it would bring with her gray and gold derpboom mixing with the colors of the rainbow.

"UP AND AT 'IM DERPY" yelled a frantic Rainbow dash "we've got work to do" "AAAAAAHHHHHH, MOMMY!" was her reply, she instantly turned a bright shade of red when she saw Dash hovering above her impatiently. "Yeah whatever" said Dash a little embarrassed but unfazed otherwise. So Derpy got up and got a muffin, gave one to Dash then ate. (she hadn't eaten much in three days)

After that Derpy and her rainbow-maned friend went to rainbow falls there the grabbed each other's waist and jumped spinning round and round they tried to do a double rainboom but quickly fell "OOF" both muttered. "Mommy my train ate the cake" said Dash woozily, fazed by the fall but after dusting themselves off they tried again, and again, and again, but then pinkie stopped by and saw them: " hey what are you guys doing?" The pink pony asked cheerfully "a double rain- OOOF"(another failed attempt) said Dash, but pinkie understood

"I'LL GET THE OTHERS" she said bombastically. Soon all of ponyville was there and were all cheering. On top of the falls Dash asked Derpy "are you sure you want to do this Derpy I mean, all of ponyville is watching and I-" Derpy put a hoof over Dash's mouth: "shhhhhh yes I want to do this, for you" Tears welled up in the blue pony's eyes, both their manes flapping in the breeze the took hold of one another's waist and jumped. Spinning, spinning, spinning, and then a gasp rose up from the crowd: they'd done it. Falling so fast they were almost impossible to see and when they hit the ground Dash gave Derpy the biggest hug she had ever received as the crowd erupted into happy crying and cheers it was truly a day to remember and Derpy had never felt soooo good.
