The Dazzlings: Sorry, wrong Siren
The black and white striped woman worked as she dug a hole in Canterlot Park she had a salt shaker tied to her head, and there was a sack next to her. “What’s with her?” asked one of three young girls nearby.
“I don’t know,” replied Adagio Dazzle to her companion Aria Blaze.
“Hey that’s our neighbor Zecora!” said Sonata Dusk excitedly.
“Should’ve figured, she’s always up to something weird,” said Aria.
“Let’s go say hi!” Sonata declared happily as she ran full force eventually the other two decided to follow.
When the Dazzlings got close, however, it wasn’t happy greetings they found, “stop where you stand!” Zecora declared. “Lest your actions put a curse on this entire land!” With that, she started doing some ritual dance around her sack and sprinkling it with some powder before opening it and revealing its contents to be a phone. The phone looked to be golden with purple fuzz tied around its top half where the speaker and receiver were. A black cord connected the receiver to its base which seemed to look somewhat like an hourglass with purple jewels around its top half and on the bottom half there was also a wind-up handle on the side opposite the receiver.
“Whoa, check out that phone!” said Aria excitedly running closer for a better look.
“No away, away I say!” Zecora declared as she picked up the phone in her shovel and dropped it in the hole
“Whoa, whoa, you’re not throwing that away are ya neighbor?” asked Aria.
“Away, away I say!” Zecora repeated as she picked up a bit of dirt with her shovel it was evident she wanted to get this over with as soon as possible.
“Okay, you’ve done some weird things in the past,” Adagio commented, “but why are you burying a phone?”
“Can I help Zecora?” asked Sonata excitedly.
“Away, away I say!” Zecora declared for a third time, “up the wrong tree do you bark, this objects evil has known no mark!” she continued her work, but Aria had taken the phone out of the hole and was now dusting it off.
“I’ll give ya a buck for it,” Aria offered.
“Foolish girl do you not understand?” Zecora asked as she hit Aria’s hand with the shovel and forced her to drop the phone back into the hole bellow, “right now at risk is our entire land!”
“Ha, ha,” Aria laughed, “I think you finally cracked there Stripes, listen why don’t you head out maybe do some errands or something and I’ll guard the big bad phone for ya,” she said as she led Zecora away from the phone.
“I must confess my last seven potions have made nothing but a mess, several herbs I need, so I thank you for fulfilling my guarding deed,” Zecora replied as she headed off.
“That was surprisingly nice of you Aria,” Adagio commented.
“Sucker,” Aria exclaimed when Zecora was finally out of view, “okay,” she added picking up the shovel Zecora left behind. “Sonata dig!” Aria ordered.
“Okie Dokie!” said Sonata happily as she went to work while Aria rubbed her hands greedily.
“Oh, really Aria?” Adagio interjected, “like you need another knickknack piece of junk for that already over filled room of yours?”
“Jealous!” Aria exclaimed.
Soon enough the Dazzlings were back home and watched Aria put on some celebratory punk rock music before pushing the skull candle on her nightstand aside to make room for the phone, “what do ya think?” Aria asked, “a few adjustments here and there maybe replace those jewels with spikes and it’ll fit right in!” she declared.
While Adagio just looked on not caring Sonata put her finger to her chin in thought for a moment before she asked, “is that a new phone?”
“Sonata, please keep up!” Adagio begged.
At that moment the phone started to ring, and Aria smiled, “someone’s calling me!”
Adagio, on the other hand, began to examine the phone, “but it’s not plugged in and there’s no connection.”
“So,” Aria sneered, “it’s called a cordless grandma, bet all the guys in the building already have my number,” she added before picking up the phone, “Hello?”
At that moment Aria’s CD player began to act up, the trey opened, and the disk inside began to shake before rocketing out of the player and hitting Aria right in the head. As Aria came out of her daze Adagio noticed Sonata right next to the CD player, “Sonata Dusk!” Adagio declared crossly pulling Sonata’s attention from the CD player where she’d been looking a moment earlier.
“Yes, mommy?” Sonata responded as she picked up the phone while Adagio helped Aria back up.
“What’s with you?” Aria angrily demanded.
“It wasn’t me Ari, honest.” Sonata replied as the phone began to ring again, “I got it!” Sonata declared as she began to pick up the phone.
Aria was quicker and swiped the phone right out of Sonata’s hand, “get away from my phone brainless,” she declared. “It’s probably that dude from the third floor whose dog I kicked calling to ask me out,” she decided as she laid down on her bed.
“And I’m Discord,” Adagio commented.
Aria picked up the phone, “what’s cooking good looking?” she asked at that moment a spring right bellow Aria in her mattress gave way and sprang out of the mattress making Aria jump so high she hit the ceiling before falling back down on the mattress.
Sonata examined her injured friend, “I know where you’re going with this Ari," she declared as she crawled into Aria’s bed, “nighty night.”
“Looks like you need a new mattress Aria,” Adagio exclaimed, “maybe we should ask around the building to see if any neighbors have buried one.”
“Yeah sure,” said Aria recovering from her fall.
At that moment once again the phone began to ring, “could be all those boyfriends that exist when you’re dreaming,” Adagio mocked.
Aria ignored Adagio and picked up the phone, “y-ello?” at that moment Aria’s door broke down as an ice-cream cart bicycle came charging in with no rider, it went up the wall into the air before crashing right on Aria.
Aria’s arm with the phone was the only thing not crushed by the cart and Sonata took the phone from it, “Ari’s in pain right now, she’ll have to call you back,” and with that, she hung up the phone.
Adagio went outside and found their front door was open, “could’ve sworn we closed it,” she said. At that moment Aria came running out and put the phone in the hallway.
“That thing’s cursed!” Aria exclaimed.
“Oh, come on Aria, like these humans have the magic let alone the brains to curse things,” said Adagio.
At that moment the phone started to ring again, “I’ll get it!” Sonata exclaimed.
“No!” Aria responded, “pretend we’re not home.”
“It’s for you Ari,” said Sonata pushing her friend to the phone.
Aria picked up the phone fearfully “hello?” at that moment a skunk appeared and sprayed Aria.
“Oh look skunky!” Sonata exclaimed as Aria came back over to her friends and Sonata began to wave the air with a look of disgust. “Ewww, who fed a baby chili?” she asked.
“This phone is evil!” Aria declared as she ran to her room where she used deodorant and perfume to get rid of the smell.
“Oh come on Aria!” Adagio exclaimed from the hallway, “no way any humans have the brains to curse something, it’s all just bad luck!”
“Oh yeah, well I say we test it!” Aria exclaimed.
So the Dazzlings went to the nearby vacant lot where they placed the phone in the center and waited, “why isn’t it ringing?” Aria demanded.
“Maybe it’s onto us,” Adagio joked, but at that moment the phone rang.
“Ah ha!” Aria declared triumphantly, “Sonata!” she called, and Sonata came into light wearing various pieces of protection gear she went toward the phone and just stood there, “you’re supposed to pick it up stupid!” Aria called.
Sonata did as she was told and picked up the phone, “Hello?”
Adagio waited a moment, and nothing happened. “See,” she said to Aria smugly, “I told you, these humans couldn’t curse something if their lives…”
At that moment, however, a billboard from a building fell right on Aria. “Phone, evil, rotten, ” said Aria dizzily. At that moment the phone began to ring again, and Sonata reached to pick it up, “no don’t!” Aria begged as she ran to Sonata.
“Me again,” Sonata talked into the phone Aria had to think fast she saw another billboard nearby, so she picked up Sonata and tried to shield herself unfortunately that didn’t protect her from the bowling ball that fell right from the sky on her!
Zecora was in her apartment cooking up a new potion when someone knocked on her door, “you’ve come to me the maker of brew now tell me, friend, what can Zecora do for you?”
“Take your stupid phone back,” Aria declared as she threw the phone into Zecora’s hands.
“Ah like a boomerang its evil does renew,” Zecora stated as she threw it back to Aria, “let it now trouble you!”
“Take it, it’s yours,” Aria exclaimed returning the phone.
“Girl with hair of blue think fast for it comes to you!” Zecora declared as she threw the phone to Sonata.
“Hot potato!” Sonata declared happily throwing the phone to Aria.
“Please, I’m begging ya!” Aria said, but Zecora just slammed the door, and of course, at that moment the phone began to ring.
“Oh,” said Adagio annoyed as she picked up the phone, “I’m putting an end to this! Hello, this is Adagio Dazzle.”
Suddenly several of the buildings kids came charging through the halls on their bikes and ran over Aria.
Little Suzy was a young girl who lived in the Dazzlings building and was rarely seen without the company of her favorite doll Cindy who was apparently currently in the bathroom. “Hey, Sue!” Aria exclaimed excitedly as she ran to the little girl “how about a phone!” she offered to give her the phone, “it’s all yours no strings attached consider it a gift,” she said quickly running away.
“Okay, ” said Suzy a little confused, “Cindy get out here we just scored the coolest phone!” she called.
“I’m free!” Aria cheered as she ran away with Adagio and Sonata, “no more cursed phones!”
“Aria humans can’t curse things!” Adagio angrily declared.
“Says you, okay come on I’m making dinner!” Aria exclaimed.
“I guess we should just put this behind us,” Adagio responded.
Later o, the Dazzlings sat at on the couch eating cereal, “Aria wouldn’t cereal be better for breakfast?” Adagio asked.
“Yep but this cereal is 100% curse free!” Aria exclaimed happily.
Adagio looked ready to burst, “Aria you need to get over this curse thing, humans can’t do it!” she shouted.
“Says you,” said Aria at that moment a flower pot fell and hit her on the head despite the fact that they were inside.
“Hello, Mr. Daisy!” Sonata greeted.
Aria got out of her daze and exclaimed, “see what do you call that?” at that moment her third of the couch gave way, and she fell through than several springs launched themselves right at her.
“Ah ha!” said Adagio victoriously, “look around you Aria and what do you see?” she asked as an electrical wire electrocuted Aria, “Nothing that’s what, do you see a phone because I don’t see a phone, no phone no curse, I rest my case.”
“Why me?” Aria demanded as she ran off only for an entire china cabinet to fall on her through a hole in the neighbor’s floor.
“Coincidence Aria!” Adagio declared.
Meanwhile, three floors up the phone was ringing, and Suzy was answering and giving the phone to her doll Cindy. After a moment Suzy hung up the phone only for it to start ringing again. “Gee Cindy you sure are popular,” Suzy commented Aria’s screams could still be heard each time the phone was picked up.
