Misalignment of the Heart
Prologue : Going back to moving forward
Load Full StoryNext ChapterTorrid flames. Barren. Dangerous. Through the drift of the planescape, nestled against the utmost border of all realms, lingers the all but forgotten Nexus. Clasped in lethal flames, naturally warded against and ignorantly ill considered, nothing that attempts to venture inwards is ever allowed out. Resided to fabled tales of horror or imagination, even that which once commanded not even their own fate has all but eclipsed it.
"This is what I get for trying to help!" The creature screams in anger, it's struggle to keep from being pulled against it's will back into an ever brightening portal barely held in place through that of grotesque upper limb drove deep into the ground. Of it's entire body, jagged and without conformity in obsidian like plating and spiked growths, remains large enough even in it's downward bend to eclipse all forward still in shadow.
"What are you looking at!" It continues to increase in it's ire, with no eyes visible to direct it's stare. "You think it's over? You think you're finally free of me?" Violently impacting it's shorter upper limb into the much longer one as far as the other can reach, pushing it's lower limbs harder into already deteriorating earth. "Cowards! Weaklings! You can only scatter and wait like vultures!"
The creature continues it's struggle, segments of obsidian like plating cracking and breaking off into dust against the vacuum. Refusing to bend any farther, the creature pushes even harder just as slight of movement behind nearby cover seizes his now frozen in animation, attention. Moving nothing, it continues to wait even as an four legged abomination of ragged fur and horns makes an wild screech filled dash directly for it.
It is only during the leap and slash, of which greater damage is self sustained onto would be predator than of it's prey, that the larger but anchored creature reaches forth to take hold. With but the glimmer of flickering yellow balls of light between smaller but nimble appendages, the creature seems to linger with it's eyeless face slowly turning to the ever increasing struggle of predator turned captive.
"You think so weak of me, eh?" Slamming his captive down into the earth below, kicking up debris sent scattering to the violent sear.
"That such an bug could consume the injured lion?" Of yet another, even more intense downward slam, does the appendage holding onto limp attacker lift and swing with all it's might. With small appendages nimbly moving in and out as if to further flex, it moves it's head partially towards the point of thrown impact as more creatures of varying size and proportions converge and begin to ravage like mere beasts.
Granted a few moments of reprieve, the creature reaches down with shorter limb once more just as the portal behind pulsates, sending an wave of colorful energy just far enough to envelope him in it's warm glow. Forced to slam it's shorter limb into the ground below instead of the bend of the lower limb, it's teetering in such an position is one that can only infuriate even further.
"It was almost closed, you damn fools!" It yells towards the ground below as another pulse slams into it from behind, knocking it finally down to one bend into the ground. Struggling, it's disproportionately longer limb begins to crack, much to it's increased cause for concern. As the pulses increase, so does the vacuum, along with the disintegration of it's figure.
"I refuse..." The creature, in an bout of denial, pushes with all it's might to get back to it's full stature.
"..to accept..." To even further seems to ignore the reality of such unexpected futility, like so to the image just before, still impaled deep into the ground. "Impossible. I threw you away! You're supposed to be gone!" It attempts to step forward, but struggles in vain.
It growls in earnest struggle as the body finally starts to break apart before the reflecting gleam on the flat of the embedded sword, the faint dim of blue iris reflected back onto shielded obsidian visor. The creature somehow manages to hunch forward just enough to attack the reflective metal with it's broken limb, causing an chain reaction with the latest pulse, it's entirety being propelled backwards into the colorful abyss.
Cold. Barren. Dangerous. Through the northern reaches of Equestria, nestled against the utmost border of the Crystal Empire, lingers the all but forgotten Frozen North. Clasped in lethal cold, barricaded against and carefully watched, nothing attempts to venture inwards or allowed out. Resided to fabled tales of heritage and conquest, even that which once commanded formidable strength has all but drifted away in the snow.
"Where is it." The cold air whirls and nips to the whim of an ice cold voice. With another gust, the chill moves swiftly across the barren frozen tundra, of far too long secluded and isolated, to the ever whim of it's constant hunger. "Where do you flee?"
Moving but again, the air swirls into deformed shapes and illusions of galloping hooves that leaves nothing across the snow, it's direction changing erratically to the sense of it's empathy. Finally coming over an eclipse to an forgotten frozen valley, the wind gusts into an straight line down the slope with snow spreading like an zipper across an slowly uncovering lake.
"Anger." The wind continues to streak across the lake as ice becomes something more dense, "Such malcontent!" until the wind begins to swirl above, much like an vortex, to the blistering upwards pull of just enough snow to reveal an abandoned village. "Where are you!"
The wind continues on it's shifting traverse, of in between the houses and even inside, until it slows into an breeze, drifting alongside frozen shutters of an window as the dimming shimmer of light can only draw it closer to the inner most rooms of the long forgotten home. Passing alongside the inner walls as if to encircle that which also remains unseen, the sudden change in pressure almost brings the house down upon itself as every spec of snow is sent away from the center.
Wood, long abandoned to the violence of the cold and snow, begins to creak and snap, pulled in only to then be pushed back out. With the roof on the verge of collapse, the wind once more begins to howl to the symphony of delight against the cyclone of dust and debris giving haunting silhouette to that of four legged monster entangled against less than half another.
Whooshing towards one of the walls, the mesh of sparkling crystal snow and dust shatters along with the overly taxed lumber, sending splinters and chunks smashing against all adjacent rundown homes in domino like display. Like objects crashing into the snow, the figures continue their entangled dance as falling collisions begin to finally reach deep enough to hit solid ground, cutting away the frozen dirt from the rocks in intensity.
"Enough!" The wind states as an matter of absolution, the silhouette of half seemingly dragging that of once distinctly greater in form into and through yet another building, bringing in contrast the eventual calm and gentle fall of snowflakes on once buried, still forgotten, town.
