He was asked by his Great-uncle to serve as the empire's representative in Equestria. Equestria, a kingdom in the south Pacific whose citizens were anthromorphic bipedal equines (or ponies, as they call themselves). Tiberius always pondered how such a race could exist (his best guess was that they were evolved from some kind of equine just as humans were evolved from ape like creatures). several decades ago, back during the cold war, Equestria, Rome, and (reluctantly) The United States formed a coalition that is still standing. Tiberius thought back to when he was assigned to serve in the embassy. Imperial Palace, Rome, several days ago Tiberius sat across from his great-uncle, Caesar Augustus XII: Emperor of Rome, an elderly man dressed in a purple toga with gold trim. "You know what you have to do, right?" the elderly monarch said. "Yes, I am to serve as ambassador and help maintain the peace between the people of Rome and the people of Equestria." Tiberius said with confidence. "That is correct," the emperor said, "your airship leaves in a few days, go and prepare for your departure." "With haste" Tiberius said as he left. .Canterlot, today As Tiberius left the sky port he got a good look at the layout of the capitol, It was beautiful, an architectural masterpiece. As he walked he pulled his aBook out of a pocket in his toga and turned on the GPS, behind him his servant Markus was carrying his luggage. Typing in the right address, he walked along the street side until he reached a three story building with Roman architecture, a sign by the door in Latin and English stated that this was the Roman Embassy. The Embassy "...and with that, I hope you enjoy your time in Equestria." Tiberius was siting across from an alabaster alicorn, her mane flowed as if by a non-existent wind, she wore a white dress that showed her curves, as well as a gold crown atop her head. Princess Celestia, High-Queen of Equestria. "I'm sure I will, Your magisty." Tiberius said calmly, trying not to think about how revealing Celestia's dress was. "I hope you will also find Ponyville to your liking" Celestia stated as she left the embassy. "Wait what?!" Tiberius stated as he regained his thoughts. Ponyville (latter that day) Tiberius couldn't understand why he was sent to this Ponyville. "Why am I being sent to this town again?" He said as the train went by. "Sir, it has something to do with the new princess." Markus stated. "A new princess?" Tiberius asked confused, "How come I was not informed of this when I got here? I mean don't you think that bit of information might be beneficial to me?" "Tiberius weren't you listening to Celestia when she talked to you earler?" Markus stated reminding his master that he was there when they met Celestia. "Weelll," Tiberius said slowly, " I was a bit distracted by certain detai-" "you were staring at the Celestia's cleavage were you?" Markus interrupted. This of course got the young ambassadors attention as he quickly tried to find a way to defend himself. "I couldn't help it" he said defensively, "Her dress was too revealing." Markus rolled his eyes at Tiberius' little alibi. It didn't help the fact that Celestia could have been old enough to be childhood friends with Jupiter himself. After the train ride Tiberius and Markus decided to find the mayor's office and see to where they will be staying. It turned out that they would be living in a roman style villa, complete with a courtyard. After getting settled in they decided to walk around town and see what Ponyville had to offer. There was a bakery built to look like a giant gingerbread house, a building that looked like a carousel, a free standing clock tower, and a giant crystalline castle resembling a tree (Tiberius concluded that this must be where the princess lives). After some time The two romans found themselves on the outskirts of town near what appeared to be an apple orchard. As they was walking by Tiberius noticed an orange earthpony running toward a tree and giving a well placed kick which shook several apples down into an awaiting basket. "Nice kick." Tiberius said with a hint of astonishment. The earthpony noticed the young romans standing by the fence. "Thanks, Name's AppleJack." the earthpony said. She was orange, with a blond mane, wore a red and white checkered shirt with the front tied in a knot, and jean shorts, she also had on a hat like the kind Tiberius saw in those westerns his father liked so much. "Tiberius Horatius Nero," Tiberius said introducing himself, "and this is Markus Causbicus" "Pleasure to meet you fellers" Applejack said as she walked closer, "Say, what brings you to Ponyville, we don't get many humans here." "I'm the roman ambassador to...," Tiberius said as he pulled out a card, "Princess Twilight Sparkle". "And I'm his indentured servant" Markus said feeling the need to address himself. "Well then, enjoy your stay in Ponyville, and remember, you can come by anytime you need anything" Applejack said as she got very close to Tiberius, who in the back of his mind figured that she's trying to seduce him. "Okay, I'll keep that in mind" Tiberius said as he and Markus walked off back to town. On the way back they encountered a Pink earthpony mare. When Tiberius tried to say hello she gasped and ran off almost in an almost cartoonish manor, leaving the two romans to ponder at what happened. "Well that was weird." "Excuse me," Tiberius said to the Pegasus, "would you mind where you're going, you almost ran into me." The Pegasus turned to face Tiberius and smiled sheepishly. "Eh, sorry I guess I didn't see you there." She explained, "Name's Rainbow Dash, fastest flyer in Equestria." 'Great,' Tiberius thought to himself, 'an egomaniac'. "Pleasure to meet you I'm Tiberius Horatius Nero." He said introducing himself for the third or fourth time that day. "By the way, why are you in such a hurry?" Tiberius asked wondering why she was going so fast like the way she was. "I'm training for the Wonderbolts," Rainbow dash explained, "I gotta perfect my moves if I'm going to impress them." Tiberius had heard of the Wonderbolts, a team made up solely of pegesi who perform all sorts of areal tricks, not unlike the Blue Angles of the US, or the Knights of Jupiter back in Rome. And he had to admit, this pegasus seemed to have what it takes, though her ego could use a little work. "Well please be careful next time, you may hurt someone." Tiberius said pointing out the fact that she almost hit him. "Don't worry" Rainbow Dash said, "I usually don't run into ponies, or people in your case." Tiberius was satisfied with that and decided to continue onward. "Wait!" Rainbow Dash flew toward the romans at record speed. "You guys never told me why you're here." Tiberius was beginning to get annoyed with explaining to ~~everyone~~ everypony why he was here. "Well me and my friend here were sent here because our government wanted me to serve as the official roman ambassador to Princess Twilight Sparkle." Tiberius said in almost one breath. "So you guys are here for Twilight?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Yes, are you friends with her?" Tiberius asked seeing as she didn't refer to the princess by her title as most of the populace would do. "Yeah, she's a bit of an egghead but still." Tiberius wasn't sure if he was hearing right, but he was sure that this mare just called a member or royalty an 'egghead', but decided to drop it for now. She was friends with the princess after all, and it could help with his duties. As the three of them walked (the romans were walking, Rainbow Dash just hovered alongside them) Tiberius and Rainbow Dash talked about Princess Twilight and the rest of her friends. Tiberius found out that the two mares he met earlier were also friends with the princess. "Well, I better get back to training," Rainbow Dash said, "see ya." And with that she flew off toward the clouds to continue her training, leaving Tiberius and Markus to continue on. "Well she's quite a character isn't she?" Tiberius said turning to Markus, who was still looking where the pegasus went. "Markus?" Tiberius tried to get his indentured servant's attention. "Sir," Markus said finally responding, "That Pegasus..." "Yes what about her?" Markus turned his head to his superior. "I think I'm in love." With that Tiberius chuckled as they continued on their way. Soon they found themselves on the other side of town where a house sat right next to a rather dark looking forest. Out of the house came a butter yellow Pegasus mare with a light pink mane and tail, wearing a green sweater (even though it's 60 degrees out), and blue jeans. The Pegasus didn't seem to notice the two romans heading her way. "Hello." Tiberius said to the mare startling her. "Eep, oh, hello," The yellow Pegasus said in a very quiet tone. "You must be new to Ponyville." "That's correct, I'm Tiberius Horatius Nero, and this is my servant, Markus." "I-im Fluttershy." the Yellow mare said in a slightly less timid voice. "A pleasure to meet you Miss." Tiberius said. "Say, you wouldn't happen to be friends with Princess Twilight are you?" "How did you know that" Fluttershy asked surprised by his question. "Well considering that me and Markus have already met some of the princess's friends I just guessed you are friends with her too." Tiberius explained. "Oh, I see." Fluttershy said looking at the ground. "Why yes, I am friends with Twilight, she's the smartest and kindest pony I ever knew. After some time talking to Fluttershy, Tiberius and Markus went back to the villa. "Damn it, why are the lights out?" Tiberius said as they walked in that main room which was dark save for what light was left coming through the windows. "Markus, find the lightswitch." Before eather of them could do anything however the lights suddenly came on again. "SURPRISE!" came a chorus of voices. Both romans looked to see a large gathering of People and Ponies, some of whom they saw earlier. "Surprise!" a pink earth mare jumped out of nowhere and greeted the two romans. Tiberius then noticed that this was the same mare they met right after Applejack. Now he got a good look at her. She was pink with a dark pink mane and tail that reminded Tiberius of candy floss, she wore a white tanktop with a blue jacket, as well as a pink skirt. "What is going on here?" Markus asked just as bewildered as Tiberius. "This is your 'Welcome to Ponyville' party." She said as if it were obvious. Author's Note There we go, the longest chapter so far. "A party?" Tiberius said trying to register what was happening. "Yeah, a party to welcome you to pony, because when I saw you I knew you were new to Ponyville, So that's why I went *gasp* because if you're new then I have to throw a welcome party...." the pink mare spoke at a speed that neither Tiberius nor Markus could catch up with. She continued to talk until a familiar orange earthpony shoved a cupcake into her mouth. "Thanks," Tiberius said turning to Applejack, "I don't know how much of that I could've handled." "No problem sugarcube" Applejack replied. "Is she always like this?" Markus asked. "Eeyup." "Does she allways throw parties to newcomers?" Tiberius asked. "She sure does, Whenever there's a new face in Ponyville, Pinkie Pie will always get a party ready, She even threw a party for Twilight when she got here." Applejack said. Now Tiberius knew the name of the pink pony. "Is Pinkie a friend of yours?" Tiberius asked. considering the fact that the other two mare's were friends with the princess and one another. "Yes, She can come off as a bit weird from time to time, but she's a good pony." Applejack said taking a swing of her drink. "Okay, say, does Princess Twilight come to these parties by any chance?" Tiberius asked thinking that maybe he could meet with her here and finally introduce himself to her. "Of course she does sugarcube, she's over there" Applejack said pointing toward the snack table. Tiberius thanked Applejack and told Markus to go and mingle while he walked up to the pony he was directed to. As he came closer he noted the princess' appearance. She was an alicorn much like Celestia. She her coat was lavender colored, she had a dark blue mane and tail which had a pink and purple streak through them. she wore a dark purple Tee shirt with holes in the back for her wings, and a pair of jeans. "Hello, you must be Princess Twilight Sparkle." Tiberius said as he walked up to her. "Oh, um yes, though you don't have to call me that." Twilight said to Tiberius. Twilight's POV Twilight was a little startled when this guy showed up next to her. When she turned around she was face to face with a human. He looked to be the same age as her, probably in his early 20's, his dark brown hair was just long enough that it covered most of his ears. He was apparently a roman judging by the blue on white toga and leather sandals he wore as well as the light tan he had. "So you don't want to be referred to by your title?" the roman said. "Yeah, I'm just not used to it yet" Twilight responded. "You haven't told me who you are" "Oh that's right," the roman said, "I am Tiberius Horatius Nero, the roman representative assigned to you." At this Twilight remembered that her former mentor sent a letter to her about Rome sending a new ambassador. Markus' POV Markus was walking past several ponies and some humans who moved to Equestria. However, Markus had Rainbow Dash on his mind all day. He turned to his left and he saw Tiberius talking to who he assumed was Princess Twilight. "Hey." Someone said behind him, When Markus turned around he saw Rainbow Dash staring back at him. "Enjoying yourself?" Rainbow Dash said as he hovered next to Markus. "Yeah, to be honest I never expected a party for me and the ambassador just for showing up." Markus said half jokingly. "Don't worry, everypony gets one." Rainbow Dash said. Soon the party got into full swing. Tiberius' POV Tiberius had a great conversation with Twilight, he found out that both of them had the same interest in reading and knowledge and that they are the same age. He also discovered that her older brother and sister-in-law were on the coalition supreme council. He was sure that his job would now go a lot smoother now that he was friends with her. As Tiberius and Markus kept walking they greeted several ponies and the occasional human, many of whom were friendly to the romans. Soon it was late in the evening when they decided to head back home, as they were going Tiberius look toward the mountain where Canterlot stood, still amazed by the way it just sits on the side of a mountain the way it did. However as he was pondering this he didn't notice that he was about to run into someone. Before Tiberius could turn his head he collided with a pony. "Oh my stars, darling. I am so sorry" the unicorn said as she got up. "It's alright," Tiberius said as he dusted himself off, "I wasn't looking where I was going." As soon as both of them were back on their feet (or hooves, in the mares case) Tiberius got a good look at her, a white unicorn mare with a purple mane and tail, she wore a white blouse and black pants. Tiberius could tell that she was a high society kind of girl, her voice even had a mid Atlantic accent to it. He then noticed that she dropped some things when they ran into each other. "Here, let me help you with that." Tiberius said as he helped the unicorn with her things. "Why thank you darling," the unicorn said, "Might I ask as to who you are?". "I'm Tiberius, the new ambassador here, and that guy over there is Markus" Tiberius said as he finished gathering up the last of the mares things, "well that looks like everything." "My name is Rarity, a pleasure to meet you." "A pleasure to meet you too miss" Tiberius said. Soon the unicorn and the romans went in their respective directions. "Hey Tiberius," Markus said "have you noticed something?" Tiberius didn't understand what his friend was talking about but had a feeling that it would be something weird. "What is it Markus?" "Well," Markus said, "have noticed the number of stallions there are here". Markus emphasized his point by waving his arms around in all directions. "What are you talking about?" Tiberius asked. "It's seems to me that there are more women than their are men in Equestria" Markus pointed out. At this Tiberius looked around and noticed that Markus was right. "That's a good point, I think I heard it that the ratio is six females to one male, or something like that." "Maybe here you can find someone to keep your mind off Celestia" Markus said with a snicker. Tiberius looked at him with a bit of annoyance. "You're not going to let that go, are you?" "No, I will not." "Figured as much" Tiberius said with a sigh. As the two Romans were making their way home a rainbow colored blur zipped past them.
