Chapter 1 of 1
It was a sunny warm summer’s day in Ponyville square. The idle chatter of the town’s ponies the clacking of hooves on the cobbled stones of the little town's streets permeated the air. All around were little houses with thatched roofs, brick and stucco walls, all in bright pastel colors, content and very busy ponies filled the doorways. Vendors called to ponies from behind their stalls and in front of their carts, The smell of baked goods and fresh produce wafted from every corner.
Not too far from Ponyville was the cottage home of the town’s animal specialist, Fluttershy. The young Pegasus was eating a nice meal of oats with her little bunny friend Angel who was chomping on a large carrot. During their breakfast, through the door of the cottage came Discord, the spirit of chaos and friend of Fluttershy.
“Oh, good morning Discord.” Fluttershy greeted the spirit who walked in and laid on the sofa.
“Ah, yes, it is a good morning, isn’t it? Just thought I’d stop by and see if we can hang around today.”
“Of course we can, it sounds like a lovely time.” Fluttershy believed today would be simple and calm, however…
On the other side of town within Rarity’s home, two new parents of a special child were making sure their last preparations were ready. It had been three years since Rarity and Spike had been married and only a year since that they had their daughter, the half pony and half dragon, Crystal Clarity. They were great parents to the little filly but they felt they needed a break to spark the romance in their lives, so they were going to go to a nice dinner for tonight. However the usual babysitter, Twilight Sparkle, had to leave unexpectedly for a royal princess assignment and Spike and Rarity’s other friends were a bit busy too so the couple was scrambling.
“Oh darling, this is the worst possible thing!” Rarity panicked.
“It’s not that bad, we just need a sitter, but who else do we know?” Spike wondered.
After some thinking and pondering, Rarity came up with the solution.
“Fluttershy! She’s not doing anything tonight, we can ask her!” Rarity was excited to finally spend time with her husband.
“Well...is there anyone else?”
“Spike. Fluttershy is perfect babysitting material, why not her?”
“Rarity, its not Fluttershy I’m worried about. Discord is my problem with all his crazy chaos magic. I wouldn’t leave my a vase with him, let alone our precious daughter. He has been hanging out with Fluttershy a lot and I’m willing to bet some bits that he will be there.”
“I know if Fluttershy can take care of Discord, she can certainly take care of Crystal Clarity. Now let’s go and see if she can watch our bundle of joy.” Rarity picked up her daughter who was just sitting on the floor, watching her parents go back and forth.
. . . .
Fluttershy found herself having a great time with Discord and Angel as they played a bit of Yahtzee. Granted, she was winning when a knock on the door caused her to stop and find out who it was the was taping on her cottage door. To her surprise, it was Rarity, Spike, and their daughter, Crystal Clarity.
“Hi guys, what brings you here?”
“Fluttershy darling, I’d hate to be a bother, but can you babysit our daughter? Just for the night?”
“I don’t know, my past tries at babysitting didn’t work out too well.” Fluttershy was going to continue until Discord interrupted.
“Oh my dear Fluttershy, if you can watch out for little old me, then you can be sure that watching a little filly is no trouble.”
“Yes, Discord is absolutely right, darling. So please?” Rarity smiled with her big old eyes.
“Oh okay, I’ll try my best…”
“Thanks Fluttershy, but Discord, I want you to promise me and Rarity that you will not cause chaos around our daughter.” Spike demanded.
“Don’t worry, you have my word as a spirit that I won’t get too chaotic.” Discord gave an innocent smile.
“Okay, thank you again...now let us be off, Spike darling.” Spike and Rarity leave as Clarity waves goodbye.
Fluttershy closes the door and sits Clarity on the sofa, telling her that she needs to be good while her parents are away. Discord sits next to her, saying that it’s going to be easy to take care of this little filly, then Clarity goes and chomps on Discord’s tail, causing him to scream a bit… It’s going to be a long night.
Spike and Rarity were at a fancy new dinner in Ponyville and are having a great time, feeling that romantic spark they felt when they first dated. Spike hopes Discord and Fluttershy can hold there own, Rarity says that they will be fine.
Unexpectedly, when Clarity bit Discord’s tail, she temporary gained his powers over chaos. Clarity created giant candycanes in the cottage, a cotton candy cloud storm of chocolate rain, and turned Angel into a luchador, it was quite the sight as the little filly giggled at the chaos. Discord tried to get it under control but to no avail. He tells Fluttershy that she needs to nap to be rid of his magic.
“Okay, I know what I must do…” Fluttershy bolted upstairs and back down just as quick with a strange looking helmet with horns on it, which she then put on.
Fluttershy dodged the chaotic mess, zipped past the candycanes, trudged through the chocolate flood storm, and after apologizing to Angel, beats him in a wrestling match. Fluttershy then got close to Clarity and shouted.
“Fus, Ro, Dah!” To Discord’s genuine surprise, that weird shout made the little half dragon filly fall to sleep, eventually taking a nap on the sofa with all the chaos magic draining from her.
Discord snaps his fingers and fixes the mess just in time for Rarity and Spike to pick up Claraty. The two parents picked up there little girl and smiled, Fluttershy said that she was no problem. The proud parents smiled, but then asked why Fluttershy was wearing a viking helmet.
“Oh, this old thing, just a...family heirloom I wanted to show Discord and Clarity.”
